  • FIDE Candidates: 🇮🇳 Gukesh D and 🇨🇳 Tan Zhongyi are the World Championship Challengers
    The 2024 FIDE Candidates has concluded. Gukesh D and Tan Zhongyi are the Challengers for the World Championship. 17-year-old Indian prodigy Gukesh is the youngest World Chess Championship Challenger in history. He will face World Champion Ding Liren in the match at the end of this year, while Tan Zhongyi will play with her compatriot Ju Wenjun in the Women's Championship matchup.
    The Candidates took place in 🇨🇦 Toronto, Canada, from April 3 to 23! #FIDECandidates

    does anyone know why Norway Chess is part of the 2024 FIDE circuit? Wikipedia says that it will feature 6 players but I thought to be part of the 2024 FIDE circuit you had to feature at least 8 players?

    A definite majority of the shots used in this video were of the men, when this was the time to also spotlight the women's candidates!
    I know it attracts viewers, but at the cost of less spotlight, less interest, less growth for women in chess. I would propose an equal amount of shots.

      If the goal was to bring attention to women's chess, they should have had their tournament separate from the open. Of course the open was always going to eclipse the women. It was a very baffling decision to play the tournaments at the same time.

      It's actually this trying to force equality via quotas that is discrimination. If a woman performs at above 2700 she can play the open and will get her coverage

    With my full respect to Gukesh and his perfect performance, that white thing in the middle of his head is really annoying. Chess should not be a place to practice religion. By the way, it is the same for the rest of the Indian players. Imagine everyone showing something related to his/her religion, hat, long bear, etc.??

    Bad coverage, horrible commenting, even worse post game questions, the qualifications system is pathetic and tournament format prehistoric. FIDE never misses an opportunity to fail. 👎👎👎👎👎

      wdym the coverage was amazing there were upto 5 different channels commenting with different ppl so the commentating was amazing qualification system was pretty standard and so was the tourney format.
