This is the best comedic bit during an awards show I’ve ever seen - a solid beginning middle end, perfect timing, all the jokes just hit. Watch it all the time and still chuckle
It is pretty good, but the best one is still the one with Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell about all the movie they actually did not see and where they try to remember the plot.
Hahahaha. This went dark fast and such a friggen hilarious way to segue into the nominations. These two did it all - wholesome, comedy, drama, suspenseful, thriller, dark and everything in between.
Comedians are the best actors. Steve Carrell and Kristin Wiig could do a dramatic performance easily, but not very many dramatic actors could pull off a sketch or do improv comedy.
The ability to stay in character while in front of all your peers......wow. That is some serious pressure, and my goodness did both of them kill it. Kristen came close to breaking, but held it together. Steve was flawless though.
at least once every couple of months I need this amount of comedy in my life.. this and some more recommended in the right... Im sure im not the only one....
It’s amazing that Steve made himself look physically devastated. By the end of the bit his eyes are blood shot and his skin looks pale. And how they don’t break, even though I think Kristen covering her mouth was just a bit haha.
Wow! Beware when a parent, who never would have, picks you up by surprise and takes you to an animated movie. And you think it's the best day in the world.. and then later on you find out it was to cushion some sort of blow that will come later. I won't go into it, but this was exact thing that happened to me. I still recall that day. We, three, kids had been sent to the public pool to swim, then dad picked us up from the pool and took us to a movie. And I couldn't believe how incredibly wonderful the day was turning out to be!!
Steve Carell is brilliant a wealth of talent. To parody animation (something joyful) with pain and on the spot deliver non-verbal cues of pain,…he’s a savage.
If you like Steve Carrell in this, watch his “Produce Pete” segments from the old Daily Show. He nailed that character of a guy whose mind is going to a place much darker than is remotely appropriate for the gig he finds himself in.
It’s horrifically loving how funny this is… calming everyone with outrageous tales of woe. The inappropriateness of sharing the lowest moments, about oneself, publicly, at a moment one is supposed to join in and celebrate others’ highest moments. And yeah Steve commits to the bit and starts visibly bawling
"Bambi. It was the same day we had to put our dogs down. ... All three of them. ... And also, that was the last day I saw my grandpa." And the nominees are - 😂😂😂😂😂
This is proof that delivery is EVERYTHING! Two brilliant comedians made this a brilliant bit.
You said it - Delivery is everything. 😂😂😂
Steve's ability to bring himself to very brink of tears and not shed a single one is unmatched.
Like in office the face he made, when he learnt all will become jobless soon 😬

Let’s be honest. This is not the first time you watch this video. And it won’t be the last
Hell yeah
r u a bot?
Steve Carell is so committed to the bit. I love him so much.
Just a completely heroic performance by both actors. A masterful tightrope walk.
Three minutes of comedic genius.
Yes, especially everybody in the audience looking as if they are straining a stool trying to find anything funny ...
Did we watch the same video?@@manusduminy9845
@@manusduminy9845really? That may be the best response to a bit I’ve ever seen at an awards ceremony
The fact that they held it together through this is just astounding.
Amazing.

Also, not at the expense of another celebrity. Most jokes in award shows are just roasting in disguise.
I can’t believe how Steve kept a straight face, how he was able to hold his laughter!
Steve is the king of keeping a straight face
And the nominees are…. Amazing timing. They floored me ❤️
I've only watched this about a million times. Has never lost it's timing.

Pure genius these two! 🔥🔥🔥
I don’t know how many times I’ve come back to watch this over the years and every time it still makes me laugh out loud. Love these 2 ❤
Well, same with me.
Same here!!😂
This is pure comedy gold, an all time classic, delivered by two brilliant artists.
No one does "almost choking up but not quite" like Steve.
I been looking for the Korean version for so longggg. Finally!
I come back to this too often.
The banner that pops up during the long silence was GOLD.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:14 the fact that Kristen could keep it together while looking like she was just on the verge of getting upset lol, sheer comedic talent
She wanted laugh😂thats why she put he hand over her nose and mouty
It looked like she was actually cracking a smile a bit, almost like she looked at someone in the audience & almost broke. Amazing bit though 😆
Steve Carrell is something else. His body language, facial expressions, tone… damn!
*Carell
@@jamesanderson6373 Oh! Thanks
The delivery and timing on Steve’s bit is nothing less than perfect.
Hahahaha. This went dark fast and such a friggen hilarious way to segue into the nominations. These two did it all - wholesome, comedy, drama, suspenseful, thriller, dark and everything in between.
the best part of this is the subtle reference to 'Three's Company' with the dogs named Jack, Janet, and Chrissy
I didn't even realize until you said that!!! Thank you! Oh my, makes it even better!! 🤣🤣
Probably one of the best bits I've ever seen in an awards ceremony. Moshi Moshi
That was actually brilliantly acted. They are quite amazing.

3 minutes. Learn to count.
Genius comedy - full commitment to one-upping! These two nail the timing and delivery. Hope your grandpa turns up someday, Kristen
Absolute brilliant comedy. They are so talented ❤
Steve is a national treasure, I tell you. A national treasure!
This left me Satisfied and Smiling
That's what she said! (had to be done)
I've watched this 10 times over the last week and loved different moments each time. The delivery and timing is just so, so good. Bravo!
Steve Carell FTW! That was sublime acting -- it sold the entire bit.
How did they do this with such straight faces!!!??? 🤣🤣🤣
This was brilliant!

You act and have many of the best actors in the world applauding and laughing. What other proof does one need? Pure brilliance!
Brilliant timing together. Hysterical. Bravo
:) She named her dogs after the Three's Company lead characters. (Sorry if a million people already said that.)
They both were expressing a tragedy moment in life and everyone laughing.
That was humor!
THAT’S commitment, right there. Brilliant.
Carrell not breaking has got to be a miracle of physics!
The way the graphic appears when they’re just standing there in sad silence… hahahahaha!
I don’t understand the comments. It’s sad what happened to their families.
at least once every couple of months I need this amount of comedy in my life.. this and some more recommended in the right... Im sure im not the only one....

“Little Jack, Janet and Chrissy” gets me every time. Just perfect.

Unsung hero of comedic timing in this bit: The category graphic finally appearing onscreen beneath their grim, devastated faces.
How could Steve not crack up during this bit...
This is the best fucking thing in the whole world.
Can not get much better than this in terms of comedy.

Kristen Wiig is an Oscar quality actress, it’s a shame their penchant for comedy masks their greatness - much like Jim Carrey
Wish he had stayed till the end of The Office, I also wish there were new The Office episodes.
Steve’s backstory of seeing Fantasia sounds like something out of Michael Scott’s childhood in The Office
