Congratulations. I think they're wonderful. Strange to think our plants may outlive us. Now I'm worried about who will look after mine when I'm gone. There's an endless variety of cactus trauma. Who knew?
It is the strangest thing to think that some of these plants may outlive us. Sometimes I wonder which of my plants will still be with me until the end. Then I start to freak out from the thought and try to stop thinking about it lol 😅
those mammillaria hipensus are getting so plump and adorable thank you for your videos! ive recently just got into succulents and cactus and your videos have all been so helpful! I just had my first little mexican giant cactus seedling sprout. A saguaro cactus with arms is one of my dream cacti so watching this video gives me hope of growing them from seeds too :D
Welcome to the wonderful obsession of cactus and succulents! I'm so glad you caught the cactus bug and are now growing from seed! Grow, grow, grow! Happy growing, my cactus friend!
Love the update. I have been growing 2 Saguaro cactus in pots for the last 4 years. This spring I planted a bunch of seeds, they are doing good on my patio so far, no mold or fungus yet.
I am in Livermore,CA. Climate zone is 9b. In the 5 years I have never moved the Saguaros inside of covered in winter or summer. They started the size of a plum and they are now like a small watermelon.
Nice Saguaros!! They will take more water than nature gives them, that's for sure. Just pay attention to their ribs, once they're fully expanded, they're good for while.
I planted about 15 seeds last month, I kinda gave up on them and put them out side in our English summer sun, just noticed today that 3 of them have made it to seedings… I cannot believe it! Hopefully they Will survive.. it’s been a dream of mine to look after a saguaro. They always looked so exotic in the old US westerns and cartoons to a lad from County Durham. Yours look amazing and the one in the front yard !
That is so cool! And the fact that they're growing in England, wow! I remember when I drove through Arizona and saw the Saguaro with my eyes for the first time. It was love at first sight 🌵😍
Great video! Your babies are beautiful! I have some about 6 months old. I have been trying to figure out what shade cloth I need to move seedlings outside. You helped with that. Thank you!
At 3 inches tall, I would say if you put a good sized rock on the evening side, blocking the evening, Sun, you can plant them in the yard right now. They would probably take a little water every evening after the sun goes down if your yard drains well.
I wish I had the space! I was joking with my mom that I can plant all 20 seedlings into my front yard, that would be so funny (because I have a tiny front yard lol).
I have grown them from 1 foot tall to 15 foot tall in 15 years in the backyard before. So they will start growing about 1 foot per year with evening shade, and a little extra water in the summer during the heat
Wowwwwww!!! I didn't know they can grow so fast. At what age do they start to grow 1 ft per year? I'll be ecstatic when (or if) my seedlings reach 6 inches tall.
Thank you so much for the interest! I didn't even have selling in mind yet but maybe when the season gets a bit cooler. I will consider until then. Are you on Instagram by any chance?
I think some mammillaria are self fertile and others are not, but I don't know which are which. For the Mammillaria I grew from seeds off my own plant, the seed pods just showed up on their own, most likely done by insects. I did not explicitly pollinate for this batch.
Which season and how old? At 3 years old I'm watering them every other week during the summer. Winter I let the rains take care of them. Spring and fall is always tricky, probably once every 3-4 weeks when the fall comes this time. When they were younger I watered more often. I do not fertilize regularly. I might have given them one watering with fert diluted down 10x this season.
Wow, 10 year old Saguaro seedlings! Incredible growing! What part of the world/country are you at? I gave my brother one of my seedlings when it was a one year old. He lives in Portland, Oregon and the seedling has basically stayed the same size since then.
I overwater all my plants evin my cacti i water allmost every day in the sommer but only my copiapoa died from overwatering i dont think copiapoa likes water on hot days, but the san pedro and most other love it
Shipping has been a barrier I haven't been able to overcome when it comes to selling plants. Let me think about it. If I sold a bundle of three seedlings like a Saguaro, an Astro, and a Mammillaria, would you be interested?
They are still pretty large for their age. They grow even slower in nature. Very nice saguaros. They look super healthy.
They're sooo slowwww in nature. It's an absolute miracle that any can even survive and turn into mature plants in habitat. An absolute miracle!

Mammillaria is one of my favorites. Lots of nice looking cacti.
You and me both. I love Mammillaria!
Nice Saguaros!! They will take more water than nature gives them, that's for sure. Just pay attention to their ribs, once they're fully expanded, they're good for while.
This is a really good tip about the expanded ribs! Thank you!
They look amazing! They grow so fasttt!! They should be around 15 feet in 20 yrs! Or even more!
It’s good to see the Saguaros are past their “Terrible twos”😜😝
😂😂😂 they finally stopped throwing tantrums but now I have to make them stop hitting each other

Very nice! I did some some this year and I how have 10 seedlings. Can't wait for them to grow up a bit more. They do look so cool!
That is so cool that you have 10 seedlings! How old are they now? Happy growing!
Beautiful cactus!!
Thank you so much!! 💚💚💚
Great update! I’m glad they are doing good and I love seeing Cookie happy and healthy.
Thank you, Maria! Let's hope I'll get to do a 4 year update next year! 🙏🙏🙏
love your music at the end.
Cookie gets her own tunes. Thanks, Dad hehe
Thanks for the update
You're very welcome! Thank you so much for tuning in!

Wow that is impressive. I had no idea they would grow that fast if cared for.

Lol but the 1.foot will take over 10years sadly
I would be interested in purchasing seedlings too.
Thank you so much for the interest! I didn't even have selling in mind yet but maybe when the season gets a bit cooler. I will consider until then. Are you on Instagram by any chance?

Did you cross polinate the Mammillarias or they self pollinate? Or some insect pollinate them?

How often do you water? Any fertilizer?

@@cookiescacti I’m set up in a grow tent. New grower from Illinois.
If your mom waters that broken one from about halfway up and back down, try not to get water on the broken part, it will grow a new arm faster
Thank you so much for the tip!
I have 10 year old saguaro seedlings that are about the size of yours.

Wow, this is super interesting, Anders! Thank you for sharing!
Javelinas will knock them over in nature to eat the roots.
Thank goodness we don't get them in the suburbs!
Would you like to sell some of your seedlings

@@cookiescacti yes I would
