im assuming its volume trim, im used to both like using light gates to get another 6 db or so headroom on direct mics while keeping them open and just cutting tom tracks to only the hits on louder stuff like rock but I love this manual gating/expanding of the toms on their hits if thats what you are doing on a track like this that you really do want all your mics open. excellent work. never seen someone do this and seems to be a practice void of the coworkers i have at the top end of the industry in nz. Seems obvious as hell now ive seen for music like this in the vaguest sense. great lesson on early reflections too!
would you be able to master my tracks if i send you the files please? i have a slight learning disability, thanks i can credit you on my album production

Amazing teaching
Good tips, the changes are more audible in person or if you just not using laptop speakers.
what automation lane is showing on your toms while in waveform view? really interested in if thats volume or something else and why you are doing it?

This was terrible. All you said was "do it until it sounds good". I learned nothing.
