    I think Westbrook could really fit the Rocket‘s system if he stops shooting bad shots. In OKC he didn‘t have any shooters around him, while in Houston the team is stacked with shooters. The defense needs to focus on the shooters, espically Harden, so Westbrook can either pass the ball or go for the layup/dunk with his explosive first step. I think it‘s going to be really interesting. 🔥🔥

      What i don't get is what made the rockets think this would fit their team. What do they abhor? Long 2s. What does Westbrook love? Long 2s. What does houston love? Efficient shots and lots of 3s. What does westbrook do? Inefficient shots at high volumes and horrid 3 pt shooting. I don't think it's the ball dominance that will hurt them but rather Westbrook's tendencies unless he changes the way he plays or improves his shooting.

We all know he’s not a shooter, but his slashing ability is definitely one of the greatest. However it the defense camps the paint anticipating the drive, russ has only two options: pass the ball or pull up a jumper where in both, the opposing team benefits. I wonder how he goes playing with capela (not a shooter).

    If Capela would just develop his post game and get stronger the lineup of Westbrook, Harden, Gordon, Tucker, and Capela would be lethal. He is such a focal point of their offense especially with Harden's skillset that if he has an off night everything starts falling apart. But with an improved jump shot there will be miles of spacing in this offense.

    I think the ideal Houston team will be James Harden scoring like crazy, Capela averaging career highs by being fed by two great playmakers and Russell being more of a playmaker averaging 18-20pts on better efficiency and with like 12 assists per game! It won’t happen but I think that’d work well.

      Idk why either. He's a douchebag. He had a great situation in Houston, but he can't just take a back seat. If he treats the refs and coaches with disrespect when he doesn't get his way, imagine being his teammate. There's a reason Griff and Harden, who happen to be chill players, had a problem with him.

    • @astrocade9541
      @astrocade9541 5 лет назад +2

      It’s because despite his antics he was right. That ball dominated style isn’t that effective. And he, as a floor general, was just being used as a spot up shooter and playing 4 on 5 when he was controlling the offense cuz harden just walked around

    Man, Rockets are the hidden favourites to win the title. Harden will have to play more off the ball, but I think this can work out. When you got 2 MVPs in their late prime committed to win a title, it's scary. And it's not like they don't have support.

    Capela may be considered a better player, but I would like to see capela actually have moves inside like a hook shot like Adams sometimes does when his # gets called. Capela has averaged over 17 with lobs and open dunks, so it would make Houston that much more formidable inside

    Just put the ball in Harden's hands and some of the forgotten elements of Westbrook's game spring to life and let Harden have a common level of on-court control (especially 4th qt) will make their game plan much better. A portion of Westbrook's attempts - the premature pull up 3 pointers, in particular ought to go.

    1. Westbrook played with PG and averaged a triple double while still allowing PG to average nearly 30 and become an MVP candidate
    2. Westbrook and Harden are good friends
    3. Westbrook is surrounded on all sides by three point shooters so he can pass instead of jacking up bricks all game
    Not a huge fan of either player but I could see this working if done right

    Finally someone talking sense, Rockets playbook is simple have two guys who can beat their man off the dribble and take it to the hole, or lob it, or pass it for three. Rockets only had Harden as CP3 couldnt do that anymore. In playoffs Rockets strategy didnt work because teams just focused on harden and Rockets had no other guy who could beat his man off the dribble and breakdown defense, now with Russ things will change. Imagine Harden beats his man defense collapses on him Harden is forced to kick out to Russ, he doesnt need to take open three, all he has to do is beat his man for an easy dunk or lob to Capela. You cant defend that essentially Rockets will now punish teams focusing only on Harden, because they will be running be running Harden play twice.
