A Big Mac sandwich is only $9.79 by me. Subway sandwiches start at $12.00 and go up from there. This is why I cook at home and refuse to eat fast food anymore.
Moses sandals! $10 for just a big Mac? Well, it's probably the same where I am too, but I also won't pay that amount for a McDonald's sandwich either. At that rate, that same $10 will get a far better burger from five guys lol
To be fair the big mac is one of the most expensive sandwiches. If you order smart you won't spend a lot of money. A mcchicken is like $2 where I live.
I worked at McD's back in the late '80s when the McRib first came out and the fries were still cooked in animal shortening. Back then, we cooked about 6 pieces of rib meat and soaked them in the BBQ sauce until someone ordered them. They didn't sell too well and would often soak for nearly an hour before we threw them away. We threw a lot of food away back then because it wasn't made to order like it is now. One time I ate one fresh off the grill with mustard and ketchup and it was the bomb! I also remember Big Macs for $1 promotions!
I remember that.....the reason McDonald's fries tasted so good back then was because they were fried in beef tallow. This wasn't openly disclosed due to the secrecy surrounding their patented recipes but a religious Indian couple wound up suing McDonald's upon learning they consumed animal fat with their potatoes.
My brother and I get together once a year (around the holidays, ofc) and meet at McD's for McRibs. Been doing it for years and years. I don't necessarily like the McRib, but it's edible. We talked about it this year and decided that this was more about getting some quality time with my brother than about the meal. Merry Christmas, everyone!
@6:36 As someone who loves both the banquet BBQ boneless ribs & The actual McDonald's Mcrib ( a few times a year ) I'm sorry but they are different. But I recently discovered the McRib is slathered in McDonald's own barbecue sauce, that you can get in their nuggets sauce packet FYI. I thought about drying the banquet patties off of the original sauce & putting the McDonald's sauce on. 🤷♂️
1:17 They aren't GROSS, they are VERY tasty OR they wouldn't have been as popular as they were/are!!! I LOVE me some McRibs and if I can make them at home anytime I want then I'm game to listen so all the haters need to STFU so I can listen to TheWolfPit.. thank you very much!! ;)
I used to eat the family-sized Banquet and On-Cor froze food in my college days. At least half a box at a time, sometimes when I was really hungry, all 6 patties as one meal :)
Merry Christmas to you and your daughter and hopefully everything is going fantastic. In 2025 hopefully everything will be great and good health and spirits and happiness for you and your family. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️
Man i used to love these when i was much younger.. tried once recently and i took one bite and threw it away. It's like rubber. Nothing like when i was a younger
I want to share how I save money by making my own no-fuss frozen patties. If you find pork, or beef in bulk, or on sale (you can sometimes find a big discount on about-to-expire meat if you go very early in the morning). If you grind it yourself, you know what's in it too. Add whatever is in the spice drawer for flavor. I like to put a ball of ground meat into freezer bags, press them flat into patties with my other hand while the meat is in the plastic bag, for no mess. Then zip them up to keep the air out and stack them in the freezer. Perfect for patties for a McRib or sausage McMuffin, or hamburgers. Can even roll the plastic bag up to shape sausages or kebabs. Once they freeze, they hold the shape. Cook them from frozen, much better than the fast food and TV dinners. I know it's not the same as home cooking from fresh, but it's a time-saver and lets me buy bulk without spoilage. Fast food just costs way too much anymore, and the quality has gone downhill. The TV Dinners are full of industrial ingredients too. I hope this helps the people on Mr. WolfePit's channel! Thank you for these videos!
I almost forgot, I also cook up a big batch of taco seasoned beef and freeze it in small portioned freezer bags too, for taco nights, since Taco Bells has gotten ridiculously expensive too.
I've had those. There not terrible. I think they would make a decent Mcrib type samich. I have always wondered why it's only on the menu about once a yr. Lol I love your channel and glad your doing well. I. From Chincoteague VA. And I think you have said you are in the Hampton rds area. Merry Christmas my friend
My phone is reading my mind. I was just thinking about you yesterday and that I hadn't watched in a while. I never looked you up, but here you are. Spooky but still nice to be back.
I’m making these this weekend! I love how your hand model made an example out of that first sandwich, notice how nicely the second one behaved after she showed the team who was boss?!?! That’s how you show your food who is higher on the food chain!
Thx for the vid. I now have no urge to buy one! Larry, only you can make a video saying "Don't pay $$$$ for sh1t when you can make your own sh1t for $." Made my day.
Wisconsins Kwik Trip sells a BBQ style McRib that's on sale every Tuesday for $1.89. Tastes just like i used to get in school as a kid. Great deal, in my opinion.
Love the Videos Larry :-) If I had to make this at home I would use Spam. Fresh Onions and Pickles on a fresh baked roll...... I know what I'm doing for dinner tonight!
I enjoyed the McRib back when it first came out. I have not seen it since. A shame that evidentally the quality went down. It is also possible my tastes may have changed, too. Won't know until I run into one again.
I still enjoy the McRib sandwiches once a year. But based on how well your recipes have turned out, I'll give this one a try. Thanks for your all your efforts.
Larry , I make one out of baby back ribs, I remove the bones after smoking or baking , depends on your preference & put 1/2 of of the rib rack on a hoagie bun.
That's going to cost a lot more than a dollar per sandwich, this video is about offering an affordable option to people that can no longer afford to eat out, not even fast food.
Yes indeed real meat is the answer. Baby back ribs have a lot of meat. Plenty of sandwiches, just a little more expensive. But atleast you know what you're eating.
Thanks! We have a local burger joint that makes excellent burgers and fries. And their meal cost is the same (or maybe a little less) at the Big Mac Meal. Special occasion when someone come home and brings lunch from there.
I always use the On-Cor rib patties for homemade ones. If I want one while out, I go to my local AM/PM. They have a rib sandwich available YEAR-ROUND, and for 1/3rd the McRipoff price.
This is interesting. A little different variety are those frozen sandwiches they sell at Dollar Tree. I believe they sell them at Dollar General and Walmart in big packages. They’re $1.25 for one sandwich and they do make a McRib version. I like Wolf Pitt’s idea, too!
Ive net ever been able to chock one of those down. You my good man did a much better job coming up with a san dwich than McDonald's ever could do on anything. Thanks.
Thank you Larry for giving me an inexpensive idea for lunch, I work from home and always struggle to come with something to make for lunch (and dinner too). Also I do like the McRib for some reason nowI can have it year round. I wonder if using On-Cor Salisbury Steaks would make this a little bit more elevated, but still dirt cheap.
Great minds think alike, Larry! Instead of Banquetl boneless barbecue patties, I know that my local supermarket has On Cor Boneless Barbecue pork patties in sauce. Go to the bread aisle and get some long rolls, get a bottle of barbecue sauce, (if my guest want more sauce because McDonald's is stingy as Scrooge with the sauce. When I was younger, you made sure that you weren't wearing anything light colored clothes when eating a McRib, so much sauce.), a Vidalia onion and some sour but not too sour whole pickles. Assemble to directions, to personal taste and enjoy. May you and yours, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God Bless you.
@TheLionAndTheLamb777 yeah that's what I was thinking for next time to add some good bottled sauce I didn't know the first time how thin the sauce was. I was also thinking about thawing them taking them out of the tray seasoning and sauceing them and giving them a few minutes under the broiler to brown them and crisp them a bit

Glad someone called out the McRib. It sucks. The wife and I have been using the "on-cor" rib patties to make ours for years. If you really wanna go crazy just smoke a clearanced rack of ribs, debone (look it up) and slap it on a bun! Barely costs more when you can get a clearanced baby back rack for $7 sometimes.
Awesome Review As Always Larry ,I never had the one from McDonald's but if the McRib is anything like the MRE version I guess I'm not missing much . I think I have a couple 2015 MRE of these left .... I'll have to look..
Great vid. Also they make a mold for that i have a friend that uses ground chicken or turkey and smokes it absolutely amazing. Free from everything except your own seasonings
They may be the same but I use the Con Agra version from Walmart. They go on sale all the time. Sometimes I even eat them without the bun. Just the pickles and onions.
Larry, you are the most important food scientist on Earth.
