After further testing, the game DOES support Dolby Atmos natively on the XBOX Series X (and PC from what I’ve read). For some reason, my initial testing an hour after release at 1am didn’t trigger Dolby Atmos numerous times, so I assumed that there was no support. However, Dolby Atmos now works flawlessly. Sorry if that caused anyone confusion.

I found the solution for HDR mode in this game, PS5 version, on my LG OLED C2. Turn off HDR in the PS5 options, start the game in SDR, in brightness choose Monitor SRGB. Then that's where the magic starts. On the LG OLED C2 TV, we have to go to the secret menu, in the TV picture mode click 1113111, and a hidden TV menu will pop up, in Mastering Peak choose ST2084, which will turn on HDR but keep the game brightness at Monitor SRGB. Then you can increase or decrease the brightness to your liking and the color saturation. I hope I have helped.
LG C9 here - still rocks after 4k hours - elevated blacks was constantly annoying me and I really hate adjusting the TV settings for one game, but lowering brightness to 46 really did make this game’s graphics sing. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for the video this was the first thing i immediately noticed when playing the game, more people need to adresse this issue because a lot of the time developers don't care to fix the HDR, it's honestly so annoying when they implement HDR and it's not working properly i'm so tired to adjust every game we need a on/off switch for HDR in game for games .
Your a life saver man I was gonna cave and use DTM instead of HGIg because I couldn’t get the right brightness but I went with HGIG with 6 clicks on the brightness and it’s still have that horror dark look and I see every detail
Great video! I’m playing the PS5 version on a professionally calibrated E9. Using PC mode, I switched black level to low while the PS5 is set to Auto. This really transforms the games black level and light sources really pop. I don’t experience any black crush so far. Just confirming like several others this method works. Perhaps I’ll adjust in game brightness +2 like you suggest.

I have a Hisense U8G professionly calibrated. To help with the black levels, I just went into the TV RGB mode and switched to Limited/ and turned on Auto Contrast on Low and it gave me near perfect black levels.Alternatively you leave all of that on default and turn the brightness down about 5-10 notches (right when the black begins to look inky). Hopefully someone can find this comment useful
On LG TV sets there is a black level setting that you can change from auto to low as another way to correct the HDR for this game as somehow the black level has been reversed. This way, you don't need to play with the fine tune levels, but could up the in-game brightness a hair.
This doesn’t work on the Series consoles unfortunately. Regardless of the setting, as soon as the you boot the game up in HDR it’s forced back to limited.
@vince5574 yeah it's really strange. With PS5 you can force it, but for some reason it just doesn't apply to HDR on the XBOX platform. SDR works, but as soon as the set switches to HDR things are back to limited regardless of the setting. Confirmed with Markus from the Gaming Tech RUclips channel as well. I'm honestly not sure if it's a bug and if it is, Microsoft either isn't aware or it isn't on their priority list.
I set the „Fine tune dark Areas“ in C1 Game Optimizer to -16 with HGIG (or DTM if you like) , HDR looks great, fixes the Black Levels GamingTech suggested this fix. I hope they release a Patch to fix the HDR fully
Film grain can help with gradient banding. Think of it as unconditional full-screen dithering. re2 remake looks better with it on, at least before the xbox series upgrade.
This goes for LG OLEDs i.e. the CX ect If you have VRR on, adjust fine tune dark area to -16 or -20. Next change in game brightness to +2 - +5. Good to go no more raised black levels. If you are not using VRR change your TV brightness to 42-44 then in game brightness to +2 - +5. Do not use FTDA if using this configuration. Use the above one or the other depending if VRR is enabled.
All good points. On my 77 inch LG C1, anything below brightness of 46 crushes blacks severely and causes loss of detail. So 42-44 may be too low a setting depending on the specific set.
Hey man, I know it’s late but could be useful for someone else. The best thing I have done on my XSX and A90J is set the Xbox and tv HDMI to Dolby vision, then in the Sony setting I turned adv contrast enhancer to Low. Somehow that totally eliminated the raised black level and made it look good.
@GamingTech-RUclips 100% agreed. After some tweaks the game looks pretty dang great on the LG C1. I still hope we get to a point one day where we don't have to make these types of videos. It shouldn't be this complicated!

@Eduardo Tavares sorry but with your solution, you will not have native HDR. It is still SDR and if you don't use DTM ON the max peak brightness is the same as in SDR.
Should I keep my RGB on full ? On my C1 a seen you had the PS5 on auto that's what I've had but my TV looks better in limited just don't like that tho any advice
I'm playing on xbox-series-x and onkyo txrz50 and I'm getting dolby atmos. And I'm using dolby vision as well.. I know my reciever would not output dolby atmos unless it's actually in dolby atmos.
I’ll look into this as you may be correct on Dolby Atmos (can you tell I was running on very little sleep? Haha). Also, I have run into issues using Dolby Vision and it making certain games look worse than HDR10 (mainly banding and posterization), so I just decided to switch to HDR. Very few games officially support Dolby Vision anyway.
@HomeTheaterGamer I would be interested in seeing a dolby vision vs. Hdr video. But ill turn off dolby vision and see if I notice any difference. Thanks!
Interested to hear what you find and if you notice any difference. Also confirmed that the game does support Dolby Atmos natively. Don’t know why it didn’t trigger with my initial play testing, but it does now. Might have been a temporary bug or something. Updating with a pinned comment. Thanks for letting me know.
@HomeTheaterGamer actually I did notice a big difference. Hdr was much brighter and washed out looking. Dolby vision is darker bit colors are richer and pop more. I prefer the Dolby vision.

I mentioned this in the video. I only recommend it if you can’t get HDR to look right. Some blacks are crushed using Monitor SRGB, so it’s still not an ideal solution.
Any reason your keeping your C1 on 60 have mine on 120 would that be causing me any issues or just preference? Won't the FS vrr match it a get 118 119 on all games on my SX still learning lol
My Series X is currently hooked up to an older Denon receiver that doesn’t support HDMI 2.1 which is why it’s set to 4K/60. I do occasionally hook it up directly to the TV if there’s a specific game I want to play that has up to 120fps support and VRR. Setting the Series X to 4K/120 shouldn’t cause any issues and actually get you slightly lower input lag based on my testing. Not all games support 120, and it’s common for the Game Optimizer on the LG to display 119fps as it’s just reporting a static frame rate (if it’s 60fps, it’s showing each frame twice to get to 120). For the PS5, you’re better off leaving it at 4K and keeping the 120Hz output set to automatic and keep VRR enabled. Up to you if you want to apply it to every game. 1440p is really just for those who are running their PS5 on a gaming monitor, so no real benefit to using it on the C1 plus you lose out of VRR if you do that.
