Just for clarification. Your saying that with a P4P you connect the USB cable to the goggles instead of to the phone/tablet and you have full functionality? I heard that a HDMI adapter needs to be placed on the P4P controller to connect to goggles. Good to know that's not the case.
Very nice tutorial! I also like the coffee corner nook you do your video from! Perhaps you could push your favorite coffee too!? I'm a coffee drinker so.....
Great vid and shared with the guys in Holland! Question: Have the goggles a fan or other ways to remove moisture to prevent condensation of the schreens?
Great, most likely will buy. Question: How smoothly is it possible to yaw or tilt while filming? I'm considering this for a second operator, tethered to my P4P RC. While it's a great toy, I'd like to get it as a great tool....
I had to they are on there way, I ordered before watching this review. With that being said this review just reiterated the sound purchase I made for 1st run production/product purchase --So look forward to receiving them
A few questions: can you charge the goggles off the mavic USB part of the brick? Do you notice a reduction in flight time or controller battery life when you have the goggles connected?
How's the latency and gimbal yaw on the Phantom 4 compared to the Mavic? Also how are the goggles when used for movies / gaming? Can you even play games using the head tracking of the goggles?
Nice job! There is a lot of information and you presented it well. I have a question regarding the FAA guidelines. Is it legal for a single operator to use googles? I thought you had to keep the drone in view, line of sight? Same question for Part 107 operator...
Per the FAA, the sUAV operator must maintain visual contact throughout the flight. That said, the remote Pilot In Command is not required to actually control the craft (i.e., verbal communications are okay although ostensibly this assumes the PIC also maintains visual sUAV observation throughout the flight. IMHO, the FAA Part 107 would allow goggle usage by a REMOTE CAMERA OPERATOR, with the ability to move the gimbal up-down but unlikely they would permit a camera operator to control yaw.
Colin, great video. A little confused on connecting to the P4P..... You say via a USB? For what while it sits on your desk only? When flying what would be a hell-of-a-looooong cable!
FYI... You need some help with your hand catching.. Bring it down to head height (or thereabouts), place your hand under the drone, the sensors will register and the drone will head up for a bit, then hold down on the controller and the drone will gently land in your hand without the motors revving at full speed... It is much safer.
The Phantoms could pass head-up display into to FatShark and other goggles. Does the DJI Googles display similar information found on the mobile devices?
I am heading to the eye doctor tomorrow to get a new pair of glasses for use with my Goggles. I am near sighted, with an astigmatism, so the magnifier glasses just don't work. I've read on forums that the virtual focal plane for the goggles is 11 inches (27.94cm). Have you heard anything official from DJI? I can't seem to find that info on their support forums.
I have a Phantom 4 Pro and use an iPad Mini 4 on the RC. Since my hands are partially paralyzed, it would be hard for me to access many of the functions on the new DJI Goggles. I would like to have both the iPad and the Goggles connected at the same time so I could flip up the Goggles and use the iPad. Is this possible, and do I need the HDMI module for the RC?
Colin, I've got a question, my question is can you avoid using Wi-Fi to connect the goggle to your Mavic pro? I would like to use cable to connected to the controller. Is it possible
Hi Colin! I can't see anything on my iPhone 7 Plus in very bright environments, are these googles the solution or should I wait for the cristalsky ultra bright screen?
can i just ask are there any fogging up issues,i normaly fly with fatsharks which have a built in fan to prevent fogging, is there anything like that on these ;)
For some reason DJI and all videos so far on you tube are only pushing the Mavic with these goggles. I wonder (except for it not being wireless) if the P4P (not the plus)can utilize these goggles exactly as the Mavic? Ive not seen one video where a person has verified that the goggles internal menu system and touch pad can make adjustments to the P4P like for example the camera settings. DJI for some reason in their videos really promote the Mavic with the goggles. Ive even read the manual and when mentioning the internal menu system, it then reverts to its use with the mavic with no mention to the P4 on this subject. Perhaps you can shead some light on this?
The P4P works perfectly, however the Mavic is the only one that works wirelessly from the controller because its the only DJI product that currently uses Occusync. The P4P would need to connect through the USB, you would not be able to use the screen on the P4 at the same time, unless you connected through HDMI, in that case the head tracking wouldn't work
with the P4P, do the DJI Google replace the monitor that is usually attached to the remote (in my case the iPad 2). can it do the same function as the iPad 2 with DJI GO 4 app? with maps and everything else?
You cannot do head tracking with the + because there is no USB out for the display. You will need the other controller for head tracking. It works the same on P4 or Mavic, but you don't need a cable from goggles to your controller for the Mavic.
So the head tracking doesn't work for the pro+ that's a bit crap, and they are way too big, now I have everything I need in one backpack, think I will look at the fatsharks, it would be interesting if someone could do a comparison.
I stopped buying anything DJI after being burned by there (blowing off the customer 1 yr after they sell the product) NO SUPPORT ECT... They r like the iPhone coming out with the newest & best drone only to come out with better product 6 months later... then cutting their customer support soon after!!! No Thanks..... LEBIII
Awesome video I really want the goggles but it's already sold out😟..hopefully the wait is not going to be just like the Mavic pro..
AJ Alvarez they're back now...hurry up
finally!
someone shows the gimbal moving.
Now, I know why the mavic gimbal has side to side movement :)
photoshopCAFE Does the head tracking work on the phantom 4 pro?

Yes, coffee!!
Great vid and shared with the guys in Holland! Question: Have the goggles a fan or other ways to remove moisture to prevent condensation of the schreens?
I don't think they do
photoshopCAFE can you please use the googles with the phantom 4 thank you
Great, most likely will buy. Question: How smoothly is it possible to yaw or tilt while filming? I'm considering this for a second operator, tethered to my P4P RC. While it's a great toy, I'd like to get it as a great tool....
Hello can you help me, when i conected my goggles the dji disconected to the dji 4 in my tablet, this is normal???
I had to they are on there way, I ordered before watching this review. With that being said this review just reiterated the sound purchase I made for 1st run production/product purchase --So look forward to receiving them
I like your videos! You are a really niiice guy, Colin!
A few questions: can you charge the goggles off the mavic USB part of the brick? Do you notice a reduction in flight time or controller battery life when you have the goggles connected?

Thanks! Great video and great explanation!
Thanks
Its so huge there I am sure there's room for a beer inside somewhere in those goggles !
or a full 6 pack

Chris Anson you are correct I wonder if the put a camera on the front and do picture view or allow you to switch the view would that make it legal.
Per the FAA, the sUAV operator must maintain visual contact throughout the flight. That said, the remote Pilot In Command is not required to actually control the craft (i.e., verbal communications are okay although ostensibly this assumes the PIC also maintains visual sUAV observation throughout the flight. Great detailed vid! One thing I'm not clear on is if head tracking will work when tethered via USB to my P4P?
Yes it will. It won't work though HDMI only
Colin, great video. A little confused on connecting to the P4P..... You say via a USB? For what while it sits on your desk only? When flying what would be a hell-of-a-looooong cable!
lol, no, it connects from the controller to the goggles, not the drone
FYI... You need some help with your hand catching.. Bring it down to head height (or thereabouts), place your hand under the drone, the sensors will register and the drone will head up for a bit, then hold down on the controller and the drone will gently land in your hand without the motors revving at full speed... It is much safer.
Ill try that, although if you turn off precision landing, that doesn't happen, but you can get a heavy landing if you do
The Phantoms could pass head-up display into to FatShark and other goggles. Does the DJI Googles display similar information found on the mobile devices?
Sooooooo tempted :)
Do it Glyn :)

I'm a kiwi based in Sydney. Small drone business
yeah, WTG fellow kiwi!
Nice! How about fogging up from warm, wet eyes?
I have a Phantom 4 Pro and use an iPad Mini 4 on the RC. Since my hands are partially paralyzed, it would be hard for me to access many of the functions on the new DJI Goggles. If you connect through HDMI, you can keep the ipad connected. Also with the Mavic, the 5D button works while connected to goggles
Thanks. I ordered the goggles and the HDMI module per your explanation.
Colin, I've got a question, my question is can you avoid using Wi-Fi to connect the goggle to your Mavic pro? I would like to use cable to connected to the controller. Is it possible
Drone Valley said you are a Cool Guy
Thanks! He is cool too!
Can the head tracking be shut off when flying? Thanks
yes, its an optional mode
Are they stereoscopic? Could we possibly get 3d with two cameras?
There are 2 screens, so with the right software and hardware, I imagine it could be possible
Can't wait for that! I was just wondering how the distance between the two cameras could affect depth perception. Any idea?
What happens if you need reading glasses for up-close work? My Yuneec Skyview goggles are great, but I need readers under them.
You can wear them with glasses, works great, Although you might have to push them forward a little bit, depending on your eyesight
OK. Thanks!
!thank you for this great video

Can I still use the camera buttons on the RC instead of doing it through the goggles?
When are you going to show using them connected to the P4P?
For some reason DJI and all videos so far on you tube are only pushing the Mavic with these goggles. I wonder (except for it not being wireless) if the P4P (not the plus)can utilize these goggles exactly as the Mavic? That's what I want to make sure. I don't want to have to buy the HDMI out module also.
Yes, you have access to everything though the goggles, Im not sure about maps though. Ill have to check
If the FAA stipulates your aircraft must remain in your site at all times how can you see your aircraft with goggles on? Are they legal to use?
You should have a spotter with you. I mostly only worse the goggle while hovering and moved the drone without using the goggles
Hi, does the goggle have internal fan? Thanks
You think it can connect with a phantom 3 standard???😬
Lisandro Castaneda no it will not connect with the phantom 3 standard. Just the phantom 3 professional and up
Can DJI GOGGLES be used for military?
tfylhk yes. It's made in order for civilians to spy on the military
Hey Colin,
Great post.
Will they work with the Phantom 4 Standard?
Thanks!
yes, they will
Thanks!
photoshopCAFE does head tracking work with phantom 4 pro+ and does work better with mavic or phantom?
PlumbingDesigner there is no such thing as the phantom 4 standard.
You cannot do head tracking with the + because there is no USB out for the display. You will need the other controller for head tracking. It works the same on P4 or Mavic, but you don't need a cable from goggles to your controller for the Mavic.
Do they work with phantom 3 professional
yes and it works with any device that has an HDMI out

glass wear ready ?
yes, works well with glasses
If Google glasses are known to give you brain cancer, what will these do to your head?
whats the range of These Googles?
Same as always, the googles only need to connect to controller
what is the range for vr
same range as with a screen
For pro applications, no doubt a wonderful tool, but bulky and expensive for sure.
There was talk for months they were going to be $700+ so $450 seems like a good deal to most. This isn't a cheap hobby.
why are you stalking a seal ?
because it was there
but more importantly, why haven't you subbed yet?
You look and move like Enrico Ghezzi in the 1980s.
show reall look in glasses. by my ges its must be shity quality
FFS DJI...those things are bigger than the mavic.
wot a monstrosity of a product. ... dji should give the designer the boot
I stopped buying anything DJI after being burned by there (blowing off the customer 1 yr after they sell the product) NO SUPPORT ECT...
