    Great system! I'm in the process of setting up my log yard and it will have a lot of similarities to yours. Only difference might be that the splitter will be next to the bucking table so that I grab a round and just pivot to the splitter behind me without putting it down or lifting it. Otherwise, looks really efficient. My log yard suffers from moisture as well. Doesn't take much and it's a bog.

    Fantastic setup you have there. You have a nice clean layout going on. I've had that idea in my head of building a bucking table, I'm just not sure how it would work in my situation as I get mostly tree service wood. Though I would love to bring in loads of nice straight logs. It really does make the process go a lot faster and way less waste wood is created.

    • @birdmanoutdoors

      Thanks, yes it would be tough with tree service wood. With tree service wood I prefer it get dumped on a good layer of wood chips, keeps it out of the mud until I can get it cut up

    1. consider keeping the log rounds on a gravity feed table to your splitter vs throwing/stacking them on the ground and bending over to pick them up to feed the splitter. 2. throw/stack splits in a bulk transfer container (IBC/FACE CORD RACK/bag/etc) vs trailer if available.

    Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Would you not get better windflow through your bags shown at 2.10mins it you turned them round by 90 degrees. Also, a pair of 12 inch log tongs would save a lot of bending when stacking your bucked logs awaiting splitting.

    • @birdmanoutdoors
      @birdmanoutdoors  11 месяцев назад

      Those bags are vented on all sides, but our wind typically comes out of the west, so the black sides face west and I try to space them out. I also like the black part facing me when I split so I can see in the bag better, but I understand your point. And I agree on the log tongs, I have those on my list of items to get. Thanks for watching!

    • @rodneysweetnam8653
      @rodneysweetnam8653 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@birdmanoutdoors- Big Rodders again. That's most interesting - vented bags over here have 2 solid opposing sides, hence my comment. I've used Husqvarna tongs for years and they are invaluable as I suspect I would have been forced to retire by now if I hadn't discovered them.

    I like the cut table 🤔

  • @dropshot1967
    @dropshot1967 11 месяцев назад +1

    I am not sure how it would work for your workflow, but you could possibly eliminate 1 step by placing the splitter behind the cutting table in such a way that the loglift just clears the table. Then you could lift the bucked logs directly from the table to the loglift of the splitter. To make it work you would have to be able to run the splitter from the side of the loglift and I don't know how well that would work.
    Anyway, I enjoyed this video and subbed to see future videos.

    • @birdmanoutdoors
      @birdmanoutdoors  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching. I’ve thought on that too, but I can’t really hold enough on the splitter Log lift, and then would either need to be starting and stopping the splitter all the time or leaving it run full time. Perhaps I’ll give it a go sometime when I readjust my setup next time.
