Can you imagine what our worship of the Father would look like if we didn’t have His Instructions (the Law) to use as a tutor, but trusted in our own understanding of righteousness before Christ is able to fulfilled the Law in our heart (Galatians 3:23-25). Without the righteousness of Christ we might be tempted to worship the Father in a way that seems right to a man but in the end would lead to death (Proverbs 14:12). Or, we might worship the Father in the way the nations worship their gods (Deuteronomy 12:4) by holding onto the traditions of our pagan forefathers (Mark 7:8). Traditions the Father says are worthless, like cutting trees out of the forest and adorning it with silver and gold and then fastening them so they doesn’t totter (Jeremiah 10:3-4). Or we could make a fatal mistake of giving honor to a false god like e-ster for the resurrection of Christ (Exodus 23:13). We might even join with the beast by trying to change the Father’s set apart times (Daniel 7:25). This is why it’s only by using the Law as a tutor are we able to discover the idols of our heart that keep us from experiencing true joy and peace. May you be blessed in your pursuit of truth.
