I grew up in North Linden in the 1960's.
It used to be a white middle-class neighborhood.
I was a student at Linden Elementary School when it got its first black student in 1967.
Mr. Humble was the principal at Linden Elementary School then, and the big even every year at Linden Elementary was "Linden Day", which the Linden Elementary School PTA ran, which was a fundraiser that had games for kids, a white elephant sale, and a parade on school grounds with school students participating in it.
