Dreadnare/stallion is definitely a major step up imo from the pyromane it’s a much more unique creature making that 5$ price tag more meaningful which is nice I personally don’t mind donating money to a game I enjoy but I still definitely understand why people don’t like it
It’s not to op either, but it still does feed into that pay to win aspect, If we could get away from snail games, I’m sure they would have released these creatures for free as a surprise
@JaxSparrowMaybe Oh definitely WC used to do random dino releases quite a bit back in the day I also don't mind giving them some more money since they haven't really scammed us as players WC has made some questionable choices, but at the end of the day, they're not scamming us Now personally I like the Pyromane for the abilities and I kinda want them to make an earth and air variant
@23Raind that's something else I've also like about the random surprises We weren't told that Ark's Additions was gonna be official We weren't told about the rather cool stuff from Bob's Tall Tale I ignore the whole "p2w" because I haven't cared for pvp in almost 7 years, but the fact there's been all this in the background is nice
Wooohoooo, more Becca! I’m so glad to see that you’re feeling well enough to play and make videos, but I still hope you rest up and heal. I really don’t like how WC handled the Halloween event, but I love the dreadmare. It strong but not totally busted, looks fantastic, and has a perfectly sinister taming method. I’ve already watched a couple of videos on it, but I love your perspective because you have such an insight into the modeling and design. I’m going to commit some hummus here (hubris) and presume to speak for all the Darkedge Clan: we appreciate your insights, loved the video, and eagerly await your return to full health
I think its pretty balanced. Its VERY expensive to tame, just to be safe lets say Giga killing level, purely because there is a chance it will summon an alpha Giga on your face if you don't offer it one. It will summon the alpha version of the dino belonging to the tribute it asks for on you as punishment along with a version of itself to attack you for a short amount of time. Have to get ALL the land & sky alpha trophies on the map just to be safe, and make a large stockpile at the ready before attempting to tame this. You can only fail 4 times and the alter breaks, loosing the potential tame forever. In PVP its all about that vampiric health steal drain and being a dubuff support attacker. It hits like a wet paper towel, is VERY weak to guns and bleeders because it has no saddle, its very weak in general. So its best used with other dinos to wear down long skirmishes darting in and out as needed, air dropping dinos with the void cryo and generally being a hit and run nuisance. Its void black hole of doom is based on its weight stat to increase what drag weight of the dino it can void storage and carry around, regardless to what the voided dino is carrying. So in theory you could load up a FOB on a dino and void it, speed away to a far off destination and set up shop really quickly, or run away with all the loot after a raid. If the creature-to-be-voided is injured, it won't work, so that is not OP. I have yet to find out what happens to the voided dino when the dreadsteed dies... Its just as likely a PVE dino which is what I'm using it for, to travel the map, picking off small dinos and carrying loot laden dinos on resource runs. It just can't do face tank combat of any kind; but as a ranged harasser, slowly draining the life from an attacking dino from afar, it excels at. It has a pretty unique niche. I've seen some crazy peeps using a whole herd swarm in boss fights, and they attack like blood drinking dimorphs.
That's a really thorough and fantastic write up, thank you for taking the time to explain this in detail 💕 Also was that not a typo, an ALPHA Giga as potential punishment? That's nuts, I love it! The portable FOB strategy is especially an interesting one. I'm excited for the PvE convenience of carrying tonnes of stuff, I'm going to love this in Genesis 1 and 2 especially (with a modded grinder for mission rewards) but as a viewer, I hope I get to see some clever PvP strategies because, whatever the balance is, that just sounds so interesting both to utilize and counter against.
@@DarkEdgeTVSurvival Yes indeed a powered up alpha verient. i typo'd that somewhat as i was adding stuff and editing. You CAN trick the alter by building it in a 4x6x3 encloser if it has an open hatch frame on top. otherwise the alter doesn't like the indoors. It MUST see sky. The trap encloses its summons inside if you have no choice but to face the giga. as long as you only fail a few times the tame progress is ok, but you have to kill the summons quickly.
I watched this video earlier this week and forgot to put my appreciation comment! I was so hoping you would do a spotlight video. You are the only one who truly does the model and animations justice. You are my go to when I want to see the new stuff wildcard (or modders) have cooked up.
I really appreciate that man, thank you 💕 I usually skip the Wildcard stuff because you just know a million other people already have videos out by the time I do mine haha, although I couldn't resist on the Dreadmare because IT'S SO FREAKIN METAL. But I'll keep that in mind actually, I really appreciate that perspective
Glad to see you finally getting this one out. Again, I hope you heal quickly! Thanks again for another great video! (Edit: Apparently I missed this video almost two weeks ago. My bad!)
in regards to your question on the tributes, yes it does spawn the creature matching the tribute and it will be the level of the Dreadmare, so eg you dont have An Alpha Deathworm trophy it will spawn an Alpha Deathworm at the level of the Dreadmare, for Sauropod Vertebrae it spawns Titanosaur however Titanosaur respects the maps difficulty with its level.
Best wishes for a swift recovery! Although I'm not a fan of fantasy creatures in Ark (I mean we have the OG monsters, the dinosaurs ) but at least this one doesn't mess up the gameplay if you don't buy it and can just ignore it altogether which I appreciate... unlike the annoying Pyromane. Anyways...I thought it was like the Rhynio where if you choose to break the altar, you just don't get the extra levels or am I wrong?
y'know, this guy does have a cosmetic slot.. I wonder what sort of cosmetic armour one could make 👀 not the same as actual armour but you've got me thinking
I had to go AFK to answer the door - turns out there was a huge rusty nail poking out that caught my shoe and sent me flying against the stairs 😅 I've got partial movement, enough to complete some of my jobs at least. But it's still painful, problematic and I am taking breaks 💕
The whole "cant cryo recently injured" has been here since ASA released It was one of the many unnecessary nerfs and its hard coded as far as i know Its such a stupid nerf for pve Edit Oh the whole miss a tributes get trouble Yea it'll spawn a max lvel of whatever it us Could be a giga Could be an alpha deathworm

Dreadmare is a so freaking cool creature, is the anti-healing flying horse.

Btw, yeah I've seen vids where if you don't have the item, it does spawn that creature and I believe at the same lvl as the altar... mental
oh hell yeah, cool horse!!!!
Im surprised how much I enjoy custom cosmetics, I always make my character tiny, so the Goblin one was an absolute blessing lol
Hope they do some dinosaurs for the fantastic tames
I would have liked some armour on these guys. They seem like they'll be great for tough overworld fights like OSDs or Brutes.

No it wouldn’t lmao have you done those? Dreadmare is a utility and debuffer not a fighter and it never will be
I love the Dreadmare, model, movement, and texture are so good
Is that knocking noise you bouncing your leg ? I know its random but it was driving me nuts lol
Ooh, no I don't do that, I'm not sure what that is :o I'm sorry!
Can't believe people are complaining about basically getting a free cryopod.
Once extinction releases (for free) they are going to update the cryopods.
I hate how big it is. going to have to be on the look out for a pygmy shiny one
