Every now and then I come back to this song. To me, this is instalok's best parody; not only did they capture Lady Gaga's unmistakeable attitude and bravado, but they chose an amazing theme to correspond it, which is the point of view of a support main, not looking for any glory or recognition, but instead being more than content with making other people feel powerful. The lyrics are top notch, and convey those feelings of "don't touch my carry", and "I'll protect you with all I have" without making it complicated, thus making it really catchy. This song always brings a tear to my eye, because I have been in this position when I was a support main, and it was 100% how I felt with supporting my friends, and sometimes even in general. If you ever come back to this video and happen to see this comment, I just want to thank the instalok guys for making something so beautiful that even after like 6 years, I still come back to it and enjoy it as much as the first time. The original song is so shallow compared to this one simply because the original is very selfish cause it's about being an entertainer for the masses. "I live for the applause," which is the exact opposite of this song. And, for me, the feeling of empowering your team selflessly is so much more powerful. Because you're thinking of the bigger picture. Making the plays to ensure the whole team succeeds, not just for your own self-satisfaction. People like to make supports seem worthless, but I've played LoL long enough to know that a good support can completely shut down DPS threats. The hard part is getting good and capitalizing on the DPS threat's mistakes.
As a main support, I hate ward limits so much. Only 3 green wards and 1 pink ward... But when i tell my team to help me ward the map,they don't listen!

Julian Gerritsen Don't forget that Sightstone gives you 4 charges that recharge upon visiting base and 3 of the wards can be out at any time...plus once you have Sightstone, you can replace the warding trinket with the dewarding trinket. Legolas Greenleaf IKR? I've learned to get along quite well using Ancient Coin or Spelltheif's Edge along with getting assists...at this point, I tends to laugh at support players who complain they can't live without taking some CS. CS is nice, but if you get Ancient Coin you get +2 gold for every CS your ADC takes, and with Spelltheif's Edge you get +5 gold every other time you poke the enemy champions (unless you start out with an insanely high attack speed/insanely low cooldowns)...and as long as you don't feed right off the bat, you'll be set pretty well.
Literally just happened to me yesterday, our feeding jungler was flaming me for having no wards out and the rest of my team literally said at the same time they just expired

As a support, i saved so much deaths with roaming and whatnot, and I don't get much recognition. So remember, the next time a support makes a play, just say "gj man". :)

I just played support thresh with jinx as my carry.. I fed her in bot lane, I always land my hooks, I always give good sets and win the clash, saved many lives... Enemy and teammates alike "wow, jinx is so good, so OP. Jinx carried the game.." and I'm like "hmm yeah, she's so good. yes yes..". Yeah.. supports don't get recognition even with 40+ assists with 3 deaths..
normally when i go support and do good like all the teams says the adc is op and then the adc types he's not really that good compared to me...seems like i'm the only one that finds nice people lol

agreed but i buy utility items like the support gold item, the healing clense item, ruby sightstone and spooky ghosts along with mobi boots to not fall behind in team fights and i have like 1 spot left normally for either a tank item/zhonas or pink wards

I hope I'm not the only support main who does this but when ever I don't play support and I notice when our current support hasn't bought a sight stone at like 25 minutes in the game (and they are not going to get one at all) I always take it upon myself to buy the sight stone even though I'm playing Ahri. I just can't stand not having vision.
My main is sup but sometimes i'm playing mid but I'm seeing not often a support with a sightstone in the enemy team or in my team and I just don't understand this because the sightstone is together with the supporter item the biggest thing you need in my opinion ^^

Yesterday I had my best MF game so far, and it was all because my support was so awesome. So from an ADC main to all Support mains out there, I thank you. My role may be ADCarry, but you guys are the real carries.
I really love supporting, it's my main role. What I really can't stand though are moments like yesterday, where I was playing Soraka and helped Zed survive in two big teamfights. Without my heals and silences he would have been dead several times, yet not thanks. When I asked him if I could receive a thank you he started to say I did nothing impressive and he wouldn't need me, then said supports are stupid for thinking anyone needs them. I let him die the rest of the game, healed my other teammates that appreciated me. I can't stand this shit =/
Once I played Thresh, and got a lot of good hooks, we dominated lane! Late game he was losing all the time and he called me bad, that he didn't even need me bottom, he could've won that alone, and he started raging on me, reported me and blamed me for every death he had. I just feel like sometime I don't want to play this game anymore for its community.
watewmark Warding only? Supports are like a BIG wall to hinder you getting closer to the ADC, they also set plays for the team. Warding is just a bonus, and supports are not the only one to ward you'll notice that if you watch professional games because the support cannot be in all lanes and will always stick to the ADC. Thats why each lane has their obligations to ward, and not the support

NerdyaznGaming That doesn't really have anything to do with the role..i have had the most dumb toxic supports you can imagine.. an example is a Morgana i had in my team who flashed in, ulted and used zhonya's on the entire enemy team down at drag while the rest of the team were taking top and mid tower and then went "OMFG THANKS A LOT FOR THE HELP TEAM I HOPE YOU ALL GET CANCER" in all chat.

I have to admit I don't play support. But not because I don't appreciate supports. I really admire every great support I see. I'm just not good at it. I don't really know where to place wards to make them most effective and my timing is just not good enough. But I have a friend who plays main support and he saved his adcs' lifes so often it's almost ridiculous. I personally prefer solo laning, but I think support is one of the most important roles in the game.
It's really hard. Supports do have to ward and check the whole map while their adc is farming. Supports make the calls most times because they have the overlook of the map and they lead their team to win. Even a support can deal great damage in mid and late game, Annie for an example. If you want to start getting better at supporting I suppose you give her a try. She's cheap and her stun is sooooooo useful. A few tips : If your adc is not in lane because he went back or died and you take a little farm then annies q does not consume any mana if you last hit with it. Also you can skill your e at level 2 or 3 because it costs nearly no mana and if you spam if 4 times your stun will always be up in time. You can also stun multiple enemys with your w. She's by far my favourite support because she deals tons of damage in mid and late game and her stun can easily decide a 5v5; Also, if you place your ult (tibbers) right on top of the enemy, he is stunned for about 1.5 secs. So also useful. You can even manually controll tibers position by pressing r and left click on the place you want him to go. He is great for tower diving and chasing enemys. Also annie often gets underestimated because she's a cute little girl and stuff. Just like Teemo ( I don't like Teemo but still he's getting underestimated :D ) You can friendly ask your adc if he wants exhaust on you or if you can stay with ignite. By doing that you know if you can take a kill if you can even before the game starts. Never forget flash for your engage. As support you have to follow the rule that it's okay to die if you can stop the enemys and your adc lives through the attack. You can take a little farm from time to time when you have nearly enough money to buy a new item. Your whole team benefits from it so don't let yourself be insulted by your adc if he's an asshole. For the wards : The baron and dragon pit are always 2 good positions to place a ward and also the brush on bot lane that can give you sight so you are not getting ganked unknowingly. This can change whole outcomes of matches. Place wards in the two brushes on bot lane in front of the enemys turret because they may hide in it. But don't waste all your money on wards. Especially in low elos your adc will not notice the wards and therefor they are of no bigger use. Rely on your pings as well. As I mentioned if your adc is farming and your lane is not in danger then look at other lanes as well as dragon and baron. Because you have the time to do so because you don't have to farm. By doing that you gain a great advantage. You can bait enemy teams and prevent succesfull ganks. If your lane is going good and you see mid is in trouble you can go mid and help the midlaner out with a stun or something. It's okay to take a kill if else the enemy would escape. but never walk blindly into the jungle. Place wards in early game at about 1:25 and wait for the enemy jungler to attack at lvl 2 or 3. That's the most common time for ganks in early. If you are save and have vision you can go mid from time to time so that the enemy mid laner gets scared of you and won't play that aggressively anymore. When the timing is good and dragon is up feel free to make a call. Most times your team will follow you because they know that the support has the best vision together with the jungler. Sooo this was my littly insight on supporting. Maybe you knew all these things already and maybe you didn't. I just think support is one of the most important roles in league and maining a support is a good thing because your team can always rely on you. Ryuko So do I and really enjoy every game. If you are comfortable in your role and position you can't be hurt by stupid teammates who try to blame you for something you clearly didn't do wrong. I get shit for taking a kill here and there sooo often, even when we are clearly about to win the game and it's like 55/23 for us. Well, after all you can just ignore them and sometimes you just let them have all the kills and you go 0/2/16 :) It happens and it's okay. We'll never let our adcs and team down!!
Where do you people find these types of players? I mean the "please report after the game" types of people. Is it a ranked thing or an American/Europe thing because I rarely see it in Australia.

well back then I had no problems warding out the map, but now with just 3 Wards and a Pink it's hard cuz your mates are always just like "ah, we got a supp, he HAS TO ward the whole map alone... it's not my job. i'm just the ADC..."
LingLing Power That type of attitude has gotten far less common with trinkets though. I always ask for everyone on my team to at least use their trinkets, preferably even buy a pink ward...I remember back in the old days winning toplane in Silver was just popping down a ward and having people shocked you actually bought and used one.

I just played support thresh with jinx as my carry.. I fed her in bot lane, I always land my hooks, I always give good sets and win the clash, saved many lives... Enemy and teammates alike "wow, jinx is so good, so OP. Jinx carried the game.." and I'm like "hmm yeah, she's so good. yes yes..". Yeah.. supports don't get recognition even with 40+ assists with 3 deaths..
normally when i go support and do good like all the teams says the adc is op and then the adc types he's not really that good compared to me...seems like i'm the only one that finds nice people lol

I main support (usually with Leona, Sona or Taric) and I usually get blamed in rankeds. "Report support for troll omg full ap and feed and ks ty" Bro, I'd rather die but give you some kills and sustain with my heals and stuns than go tanky and don't help anything. Some people don't understand that. I don't see the problem if I finish 0/10/30 and we win.
agreed but i buy utility items like the support gold item, the healing clense item, ruby sightstone and spooky ghosts along with mobi boots to not fall behind in team fights and i have like 1 spot left normally for either a tank item/zhonas or pink wards

Best way to get recognized as a support: Go Zoe support and make sure the enemy can't farm bot lane for the 20 mins they're there
I hope I'm not the only support main who does this but when ever I don't play support and I notice when our current support hasn't bought a sight stone at like 25 minutes in the game (and they are not going to get one at all) I always take it upon myself to buy the sight stone even though I'm playing Ahri. I just can't stand not having vision.
This is actually a really good thing when you don't have as many wards as needed or your team just refuse to buy wards.
My main is sup but sometimes i'm playing mid but I'm seeing not often a support with a sightstone in the enemy team or in my team and I just don't understand this because the sightstone is together with the supporter item the biggest thing you need in my opinion ^^

I really love supporting, it's my main role. What I really can't stand though are moments like yesterday, where I was playing Soraka and helped Zed survive in two big teamfights. Without my heals and silences he would have been dead several times, yet not thanks. When I asked him if I could receive a thank you he started to say I did nothing impressive and he wouldn't need me, then said supports are stupid for thinking anyone needs them. I let him die the rest of the game, healed my other teammates that appreciated me. I can't stand this shit =/

Once I played Thresh, and got a lot of good hooks, we dominated lane! Late game he was losing all the time and he called me bad, that he didn't even need me bottom, he could've won that alone, and he started raging on me, reported me and blamed me for every death he had. I just feel like sometime I don't want to play this game anymore for its community.

watewmark Warding only? Supports are like a BIG wall to hinder you getting closer to the ADC, they also set plays for the team. Warding is just a bonus, and supports are not the only one to ward you'll notice that if you watch professional games because the support cannot be in all lanes and will always stick to the ADC. Thats why each lane has their obligations to ward, and not the support

NerdyaznGaming That doesn't really have anything to do with the role..i have had the most dumb toxic supports you can imagine.. an example is a Morgana i had in my team who flashed in, ulted and used zhonya's on the entire enemy team down at drag while the rest of the team were taking top and mid tower and then went "OMFG THANKS A LOT FOR THE HELP TEAM I HOPE YOU ALL GET CANCER" in all chat.

I have to admit I don't play support. But not because I don't appreciate supports. I really admire every great support I see. I'm just not good at it. I don't really know where to place wards to make them most effective and my timing is just not good enough.
But I have a friend who plays main support and he saved his adcs' lifes so often it's almost ridiculous.
I personally prefer solo laning, but I think support is one of the most important roles in the game.
It's really hard. Supports do have to ward and check the whole map while their adc is farming. Supports make the calls most times because they have the overlook of the map and they lead their team to win. Even a support can deal great damage in mid and late game, Annie for an example. If you want to start getting better at supporting I suppose you give her a try. She's cheap and her stun is sooooooo useful. A few tips : If your adc is not in lane because he went back or died and you take a little farm then annies q does not consume any mana if you last hit with it. Also you can skill your e at level 2 or 3 because it costs nearly no mana and if you spam if 4 times your stun will always be up in time. You can also stun multiple enemys with your w. She's by far my favourite support because she deals tons of damage in mid and late game and her stun can easily decide a 5v5; Also, if you place your ult (tibbers) right on top of the enemy, he is stunned for about 1.5 secs. So also useful. You can even manually controll tibers position by pressing r and left click on the place you want him to go. He is great for tower diving and chasing enemys. Also annie often gets underestimated because she's a cute little girl and stuff. Just like Teemo ( I don't like Teemo but still he's getting underestimated :D ) You can friendly ask your adc if he wants exhaust on you or if you can stay with ignite. By doing that you know if you can take a kill if you can even before the game starts. Never forget flash for your engage. As support you have to follow the rule that it's okay to die if you can stop the enemys and your adc lives through the attack. You can take a little farm from time to time when you have nearly enough money to buy a new item. Your whole team benefits from it so don't let yourself be insulted by your adc if he's an asshole. For the wards : The baron and dragon pit are always 2 good positions to place a ward and also the brush on bot lane that can give you sight so you are not getting ganked unknowingly. This can change whole outcomes of matches. Place wards in the two brushes on bot lane in front of the enemys turret because they may hide in it. But don't waste all your money on wards. Especially in low elos your adc will not notice the wards and therefor they are of no bigger use. Rely on your pings as well. As I mentioned if your adc is farming and your lane is not in danger then look at other lanes as well as dragon and baron. Because you have the time to do so because you don't have to farm. By doing that you gain a great advantage. You can bait enemy teams and prevent succesfull ganks. If your lane is going good and you see mid is in trouble you can go mid and help the midlaner out with a stun or something. It's okay to take a kill if else the enemy would escape. but never walk blindly into the jungle. Place wards in early game at about 1:25 and wait for the enemy jungler to attack at lvl 2 or 3. That's the most common time for ganks in early. If you are save and have vision you can go mid from time to time so that the enemy mid laner gets scared of you and won't play that aggressively anymore. When the timing is good and dragon is up feel free to make a call. Most times your team will follow you because they know that the support has the best vision together with the jungler. Sooo this was my littly insight on supporting. Maybe you knew all these things already and maybe you didn't. I just think support is one of the most important roles in league and maining a support is a good thing because your team can always rely on you. Sorry for wrting this whole essay but maybe you find it help and or usefull :)

Ryuko So do I and really enjoy every game. If you are comfortable in your role and position you can't be hurt by stupid teammates who try to blame you for something you clearly didn't do wrong. I get shit for taking a kill here and there sooo often, even when we are clearly about to win the game and it's like 55/23 for us. Well, after all you can just ignore them and sometimes you just let them have all the kills and you go 0/2/16 :) It happens and it's okay. We'll never let our adcs and team down!!

EUW and NA mostly. Even in Plat, no matter if Blind Pick, Draft Pick or Ranked Game.

LingLing Power That type of attitude has gotten far less common with trinkets though. I always ask for everyone on my team to at least use their trinkets, preferably even buy a pink ward...I remember back in the old days winning toplane in Silver was just popping down a ward and having people shocked you actually bought and used one.

As a support main, I can relate to this song. Most of the time, I get blamed for the deaths. One time, my carry even blame me for not putting a ward. Mine was on cooldown while has 2 charges. Personally, I think support is the hardest role above the jungler. You become a slave to your teammates sometimes and its infuriating. Supports are kinda like parents. They do their best to support their babies but they get no appreciation most of the time. Hail supports! Oh and by the way, I only know a few supports personally especially in my server where idiots don't like supporting so if you are a support, I salute you.
