    I save myself from the frustration by just playing ranked every month up to Bronze 1. I don't have to catch up to the meta, I just make 1 good deck and use it every month. And now, I have so much UR and SR dust that I can actually make a full deck without even using gems. Sadly, I still need to spend gems from time to time because you can only stack up to 10k F2P gems and the gems you get afterwards that are sent to the mailbox would expire after a month.

    Listen, I'm not saying I don't agree that sitting through a combo when you know you've lost can be frustrating, but you know the moment you put up a minimal effort push that last card in your opponent's hand is going to be something stupid like Gorz.
    Also i really love when you can tell the last time someone played Yugioh was on the playground and is upset that Celtic Guardian + Magic Cylinder isn't a viable opener anymore.

    For players struggling against meta players I recommend using Kaiju decks for going second or Anti meta deck variants for graveyards and special summoning lock downs for first turns. And if you really hate other players, use burn decks. And if you don't want to be stressed out of all the meta bullsh*ts, just stay in platinum, don't go to diamond or master rank because that is where the sweaty-tryhards meta slaves are at. My only issue is they should scrap "casual" because ppl just bring in their favorite Meta decks with a no fear of loosing points destroying the whole concept of playing a casual game. Instead they should have 2 alternate formats called Goat and Edison which follow all the banned cards within their Era and banning all cards that exhisted afterwards. Ppl who enjoy casual Yu-Gi-Oh should be able to do so just like Meta players also have the right to hold a ladder position. The issue is there is really only one available option and that's Meta and is slowly killing the game off.

    The game is not beginner friendly and is a shell shock for old school players.

    • @Crooked_Mantis
      @Crooked_Mantis Год назад +3

      Yeah, I'm entirely new to the card game, and I still enjoy and play Master Duel after 3 months with it. But I really kind of agree with the "Yugi-Boomers" on the point that having to fight fire with fire (meta against anti-meta) in order to play your move sucks.
      Mind you, I didn't say 'in order to win' because I've never really been concerned with winning. The only thing I want is a back-and-forth competition. Even if I'm fighting a losing battle I at least want to add something to the board without playing cards everyone has seen and are tired of seeing. I want to be able to show my opponent more than one card, so they might pick up on the fact that my deck has a theme I hand picked.
      And players combo-ing into a field that's overkill is a fair critique. It never feels good to be on the receiving end, and I have definitely seen combos that exceed the daily challenge numbers for synchros. Some opponents have incredible shutdown cards like Baronne de Fleur and 2 other high attack monsters while I have one set card, three cards in my hand, and 2400 LP... they're still combo-ing. Even if I did have a trick up my sleeve with that setup, how much of a setback is it actually going to be to a pro player against a clear beginner like me? What I am going to do? Deal 1000 damage to a spotless 8000 LP counter? Clear the board of these monsters with a card effect that somehow bypasses the negation effects? What does that really change? It only amounts to a dent, a flesh wound.
      Is really such a bad thing to come out of a duel scathed that players really can never afford to take chances on people? It's sad.

    I honestly wish it wasn't this way. YGO became something basically unrecognizable to me. I'm 100% a yugiboomer (that's the term right?), I mean I had Dark Magician & Ocean Dragon Lord starter decks and a tin that was still from the single digit 2000s. My first YGO game was the Gameboy Color "Dark Duel Stories". Synchros were new to me, I still consider them "new". Kingdom/Battle City 1 & 2/GX were what I knew. I liked that card game but I couldn't find people to play it with me irl. So fast forward many years later and this game has completely taken the 'Special' out of Special Summon. I'm frustrated that 'my' turn doesn't truly belong to me. I miss the back-and-forth tug of war that could happen over the course of 6-7 turns at a casual level. Konami has made over 10,000 YGO cards and only about 100 of them seem viable.
    Modern players may like the game as it is now, and while I honestly can't say I understand why, I do know that there is a strong possibility that I'm wanting a card game experience that hasn't existed in close to 18 years. I hope that perhaps Speed Duel will be more akin to what I'm looking for, despite its name I'm told it is more like the original experience
