Main issue I've experienced is the sheer amount of rookie crushers making it impossible to earn the gems necessary to keep making more decks and my money is going to bills
What do you mean rookie crushers? It's super easy to get to gold or platinum. Even with a jank deck. Past gold 1 plat 4 is where it really gets hard. If you want to get past rookie quickly just dont play a really shit deck tbh.
Very good point, you know there's a problem when you're in the lowest rank the game lets you go and you're facing tier 0-tier 1 meta lists. There's just no sport in pairing Dark Magician against, say, Tearlaments or even branded in most cases. At this point I just instaconcede the moment I see the archetype I'm playing is outmatched by more than 2 tiers on the tier lists. What I wish they would start doing is something like Pokemon's SMOGON rules where archetypes are tiered based on statistics and aren't matched against archetypes far far outside their power level. For example if Tearlaments is tier 0 then it should not be going up against tier 7 or tier 8 decks, it's just gonna be a joke of a match every time because the disparity in card power level is just that severe now. But Konami will never do something like this because they want their whales to enjoy curb stomping Mr. Newbie with their starter deck. It's by design just like power creep. They know exactly what they're doing and don't seem to care one bit about the games balance or quality long term only the money.
I feel like that problem comes from players being demoted a bunch after not playing for a while and then ending up with their strong deck in rookie rank
@dragojess yeah thats true. I used to feel bad stomping red eyes decks within swordsoul whenever i got demoted back down to rookie. But fortunately for rookie players top deck players dont even stay in rookie for long anyway. Some people jusy have to be the unfortunate fodder for competitive players to go back up
@vectorshingetsu5560 oh it's based on the skin? I have no idea how the music in master duel works tbh. I use the lava field i didnt think that was the reason for the music change. But i do know that once you summon a boss all the music becomes one generic thing
@@TraaaaaasshBooooaaaatttt Yeah - the Japanese-style field plays some really nice music...when you're against it. Not when you're using it yourself, unfortunately. Unless your opponent is using it, you don't get the good music.
@@vectorshingetsu5560Yes. That's why I REFUSE to spend gems until I can listen to music I paid for. In the meantime, I'll happily rock the default field.
I wish they'd get rid of the 24-hour timer on Secret Packs. I hate having to keep track of it, lest the pack disappear until I spend another 30 SR material to re-unlock it.
I don't mind the 24 hours I just wish there were more packs that come out sooner, like exosisters id a full archetype but if you want to build that deck you need to do it fully through Sr and ur or buying the normal packs which is fine but also makes it harder to try new decks
I'd like to see it last about 4 days to even a week to give you time to grind through your challenges and get more gems, Otherwise it becomes quite tiring to have to either use your resources or buy gems.
My ONLY gripe is that there is no actual competition possible. Its all just grinding points or wins. We need competition modes that let us all play a limited number of duels and decide based on our results. You know, normal ranked modes and tournaments. Other than that we need more stuff to do outside ranked and events. Like tournament modes for rooms and custom banlists.
I wholly agree. I think we need some insulated tournaments. Grinding against totally faceless people on Ranked forever gets dull, especially with no alternate formats or anything to break up monotony. It also feels more like quantity over quality. I have a similar complaint with the Duelist Cup events.
I know it's probably hard to program. but I would really love to see a mode where you can build an AI deck to duel against. Sometimes I just wanna practice against a specific build.
I don't think k that's hard to implement, me and my friend talked a out this, and there's fan games like dueling book and edopro that has a test mode, so it can be in Master Duel we just gotta keep asking for it
don't think it's that hard to program. Didn't the tagforce games have something like this where you could edit your partner's deck if you wanted to and they would play with that deck? i remember that being a thing.
it's probably just a problem of being a feature that would be niche and only used by semi-hardcore deck builders and up. I'd be down for such a feature, if only to test combos for the TCG
@DrakeSilver, you are correct. TF had that, and it was glorious. You could build any deck, and the AI would be able to play. It's simply a matter of programming, really. Though there are WAY more cards now than TF1-6.
Master Duel seriously needs more formats: 1-Old School (Goat, Edison) 2-Cheap formats (N/R) 3-Draft format 4-Best out of 3 5-Tag Duels 6-Faster formats (Rush / Speed duels) 7-Alternative Meta (Heart of the Underdog) Like bro, there are other DCGs that have some of these formats such as Shadowverse
You guys got me into Yu-gi-oh during the lock down and i thought id give the TCG a whirl and realized and started collecting cards but as soon as Master Duel came out i just decided to stick MD cus i have so many fun decks that they arent competitive i find fun and have paid 0 dollars to make.
@TeamAPS yes definitely. I totally agree on casual mode letting you accrue the daily tasks. I was really excited when casual mode was announce but I kinda want the incentive of gems to play which is the only reason i play ranked.
My main problem with the game is how during events, I usually find people playing the same decks to the point where I just get bored of facing the same deck over and over again. I want to see variety.
Yu-Gi-Oh right now is a game where it's (unfortunately) usually pretty obvious what the best picks for a given event are, the moment it's announced. Like right now, the Fairy vs Fiend event is mostly a Labrynth fest, which is a bit of a shame.
I think another good improvement is that losing by surrendering would give you rewards that you normally get for losing a game by your opponent beating you, and that losing by your opponent beating you should reward more so you losing the game honorably doesn't feel like such a waste...
The gem rewards should probably be overhauled. People will optimize the fun out of anything. (See all the selfTK decks that had to get banned) A few changes could be: -Let people earn gems from the casual room. -Move gem rewards out of ranking up. Put them in in daily missions. Ranking up should be it's own reward. -No missions for simply playing duels. Change that to winning duels, but lower the number of games you have to win. (i.e. 10 wins instead of 30 games played) This rewards you for playing and rewards you more for winning. You can still surrender if you don't want to waste time, but you can't maximize gems without winning.
The reason I just forfeit is because every time they just play around when they know for a fact they can just end it but instead just keep doing more unnecessary plays to drag out the duel for like no reason other than i can think of just to rub it in or something idk just wastes my time so i usually forfeit. besides I like 90% of my duels is just waiting like 10 -15 minutes for my opponent to throw out like three negates and two field removals so on my turn I can't do anything so i just forfeit that way too. because of these experiences for me personally I've kinda strayed away from playing master duel and I'm not frustrated just because I lose no I'm frustrated because it's a waste of time for me personally because I Don't have alot of free time I work alot and come home super late at night only for like an hour or two of down time and I wait like 15 minutes just to get negated. now I not advocating to Just limit negates or Speical summonings but for the love of christ at least give me some consolation rewards like a just two or three tickets to summon for new cards so I make better decks because i don't the money to just buy all the meta decks.
@@thelurker552 Waiting to lose is never fun. There's a reason most TCGs don't make floodgates a viable strategy. But Konami's oveer here being like "Mystic Nibe is a a great card."
I think the main issue with that idea is, that it rewards surrendering. This would probably lead to people just spam surrendering no matter what to quickly grind resources with no effort put in. And once you have built your deck by doing so, you can‘t really test it since you‘ll face people doing the same thing and just surrendering. Up until higher elo, it would make the game near intolerable to play.
I started collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in the beginning of 2021 for the nostalgia. When I was a kid, my parents weren't able to afford original cards so most of what I had was bootleg ones. Now that I'm older and able to afford them, my wife and I have been collecting classic cards as well as cards that we like, from buying singles, booster boxes, display cases (this last one, just with the tins). When I started reading about Yu-Gi-Oh! and all these new Link, Synchro, Pendulum summoning. It was all over the place in my head and it was very confusing, and intimidating as well. I've been thinking of building a real deck but I don't know anything about the game or how to properly play it. I have my favorite archetypes and everything but I'm just collecting the cards for the "looks". Now talking about Master Duel, I started playing it this past weekend in Solo mode. I learned a lot about all these new mechanics and your video explains everything of why I feel playing the game. It's helped a lot to a beginner like me. I'm still not brave enough to build my own deck in the game because even though there are archetypes I like, I'm not fully sure on what I would like to build and dismantle cards to do so. For now, I'm just going to keep playing Solo Mode but I would like to play against people at some point. I'm starting to build a deck but it's not competitive at all and have no friends to play casually either. Anyway, this long message was to say that what you said in this video, explains everything on how I feel about Master Duel and it was a fun timing seeing you posting a video about it. Have a great of your week.
@Marcus_Wayne It sounds like you're playing F2P, and are not quite sure what to construct. If that is the case, you have the right mindset. Save your crafting materials. Just a tip: do not do a 10-pack pull unless you have at least 2000 gems. Sometimes, you will be screwed out of a UR card, but guaranteed it on the next 10-pack pull. And don't be afraid to play online. I understand that running into players with fully constructed 5-minute combo decks (or sacky floodgate decks) is frustrating, but you will get building rewards as you accumulate wins here and there. The festivals also give you crafting materials in losses. As far as I'm aware, your win record doesn't affect your ability to play the game (unlike NBA 2K online which punishes players with poor win rates).
I just want to be able to make custom rule sets/banlists in casual rooms with a built in search system. This way we can make any format we want and if you just want to hop into one, just go to the search bar, type in GOAT and a whole bunch of GOAT format rooms will pop up to join. Id be playing a lot more master duel if they had this feature.
Great idea. Custom games + a mode where you could do 2v2 matches or free for alls with more than two players would be fantastic. I know Yugioh is designed as a 2v2 game but my IRL friends and I would often play with multiple people at once as it tended to level the playing field if one players deck was newer/stronger than the rest as they could have more heat out on them. Good times
Yugioh desperately needs a draft format. I don’t like having to keep up with all 50 million cards out there and build from that. It’s overwhelming and its been the reason i haven’t played for years. Its much more interesting and fun to have to build a deck in a draft and makes it more of an even playing field.
The problem is yugioh has way too much rubbish and filth pack filler. Magic and pokemon packs all have playable cards. Yugioh makes literally unplayable cards and half of the cards in the set or more are just shit that doesnt work in any deck.
The problem with that is that yugioh has become designed around archetypes it isn't like magic where your deck doesn't have to be based around a specific type of card. in yugioh you can't just mix and match a bunch of cards and call it a deck with this game.
@richardsejour7731 the other reply to this comment is basically like a supplement to what i was saying. I think he put it better than me because that's the truth. The archetypal nature of yugioh. I what i meant was that there's more generically usable cards in both magic and pokemon. Yugioh has less generically usable or good cards. Yugioh has a problem with making good generic cards way too good and other generic cards dont work in anything
all dailys and lifetime challanges should be able to be done in Solo and duel with friends. so no pain when you trying to clear and they one turn you or negate your cards stopping you doing it and end up unable to even do one challange or dailys >< for HOURS
I don't really have this problem, I can clear most missions pretty quickly. It's only the "Destroy 5 cards" and "Activate 2 Traps" mission that I usually have a problem with.
While the imperm column changes are helpful for beginners. It also makes things even funnier if the opponent activates their spell card on the imperm column despite the game showing you where it is.
*Personally, I've been loving Master Duel, but it's definitely not perfect. What do you all think?* 🤔 (remember to please be nice to everyone in the comments) We Made a Yu-Gi-Oh Deck Master Format - ruclips.net/video/fxZZ7S8uL80/видео.html
in my humble opinion : i beg Konami to close this game, respectfully 🙂. The format is unplayble and unenjoyable to an extend since day 1... So... Yeah 😮💨 Great video btw!
As a casual i enjoy the game, i usually play around 4-5 duels a day. I use a numeron winged dragon of Ra deck that teamsamurai made and it's competitive enough to win against good decks.
I like master duel but there’s a few problems that I don’t like Problem 1: there some cards in master duel that I don’t see myself using at all and I can’t delete them to get more sr Problem 2: the timer I think the timer needs to be more shorter. Problem 3: is combos there are players that do crazy card combos. and I’m just sitting there and watching them play cards or watch RUclips videos
“How to make master duel perfect” Step 1: Add tag duels Step 2: add daily challenges for Casual matches Step 3: Add Side Decks Step 4: Add fire warrior, equip, infernoble, and Mikanko support cards. Step 5: profit Step 6: there is no step 6 it’s already perfect 😎
I agree with a lot of what you said especially about the TCG stuff. As a casual who just likes to play Master Duel I can’t see myself actually going into a card shop and trying to navigate through the million things that are happening card by card. It just seems like a lot and i’m just not that invested in it.
@@mamamia5905Yeah I agree with what you said. My main issue with Yu-Gi-Oh master duel is the casual game-mode. I feel the main problem with the causal game-mode is that, they’re is no defining factor of what “casual” is. People’s ideology and thought process of what casual is, varies. Is it a traditional summon, set, pass game-mode. Or is it more of fusion, synchro, xyz age, where you end up with 1 fusion, synchro, or xyz monster at the end of your turn. Or maybe it’s simply a deck that summons a lot, but is simply not competitively viable. Their are too many different ideas on what casual is. Me personally, casual is a game mode where you play a deck that is not currently viable in the meta but is still better than landing your boss monster by the turn end or simply summoning a single time. Which is contraverisal
I totally get that. Despite being a long-time TCG fan myself, I much prefer Master Duel because it handles so much of the in-game factors for me. I don't have to keep track of every little effect, condition, ATK/DEF change, Chain Link, etc myself. It's also nice not to have to store so many cards, dig them up, sleeve things, etc. just to go and play a few games at locals.
@@TeamAPS very true, Konami should make simpler decks for future design. They should understand every time non-YGO person talks about YGO, they always complain about the complexity. The only one who thinks this complex game is "easy and okay" is a person who has played solitaire deck for years in YGO.
Biggest issue with Maxx C is that I could play triple Ash Blossom, triple Droll, double Called By, double Psyframe, the one Crossout, and then that's just 11 cards to counter a single triple-of card my opponent will activate after they went full combo.
ngl as f2p player and not playing very often too, It's the good things about Maxx c isn't banned. but like after I have more tech cards... yeah.. I hope it got banned to.
Yes but realize that in every other 🎮 video game of Yugioh Maxx C has been banned. && for good reason,, it's a flawed card design. Check out Legacy of the Duelist, ,World Championship,. Every YGO Video game.
On the matter of the imperm update, I think this highlights a bigger issue among enfranchised yugioh players. To many paper players, they are gonna say it takes away from "skill". My counter to that is having a "gotcha!" moment is not fun in any card game. To me the card should be designed basically to shut off a column, not to try to trick your opponent. The longer i have played tcgs, the more i realize that i want my opponent to have all information available to them. It forces me to make the best plays for the situation instead of hoping my opponent gets caught up on an interaction. To me that is actually how skill is developed, not trying to hustle a new player out of a ruling that also makes them just feel bad.
Yea I don't mind the new update and it makes the game expierience better for me....like Goku giving cell a sensu bean before his son gohan had to fight cell, I'm trying to see a fight no cheap wins because my opponent did an avoidable play bad! In real life tho naw man you played it in that zone, I did not put this card and as much as this cost for it to get partial effect, HOLD THAT "L" Homie
@TheHurricaneBoneless I mean yeah it's on you to know the cards. But there is a line on when and where to enforce it. I mean in a casual game teaching a brand new player? There are times playing games are not tests of skill or for you to feel superior. I just think a lot of enfranchised players often have this "git gud" attitude that ultimately hurts the growth of the game. But yeah it's 100% on the player to remember that for sure. Especially if they plan on playing in paper a lot.
part of any tcg is falling into someone's interaction. I can't count the number of times I've walked into someone's board wipe or instant in commander. the unknown keeps things fresh and interesting if you don't want a dynamic game and only want strategy where you can have your hand held and see everything at all times, I have a game suggestion for you, it's just a small and relatively unknown game called chess
I think the imperm change is also good because like many other cards, imperm is easy to misunderstand, there is an encyclopedia of text in every deck, so you tend to just get the gist of what the cards do and assume they only do that. I had always thought it would only negate the ONE spell/trap in the column because why would there ever be more than one there? I only learned how it actually works because of this update.
As an OG Yu-Gi-Oh player that is trying to come back and play the current game the biggest problems I see are the paragraph long abilities, and the very extended turns. It makes it so hard to understand and it’s so daunting to try to learn.
The main issue with maxx c is that it ruins deck diversity, everybody runs ash blossom, called by the grave, and maxx c of course. A card is an issue if the entire meta revolves around it. If every deck but floo has to build their decks to counter one singular card then it is a major issue. With the whole going second and how hard it can be to win because it is a best of one there is in my opinion more interesting tools that promote a bit more diversity. Though you've said that there is counter play that is untrue. In this game 1 or 2 cards can make a whole difference. Pot of greed is banned and pot of prosperity limited for a reason. It gets tiring when each time you're going to build a deck you have to go through the same motions of adding max c, ash, and call by the grave but in a world where max c was gone you can pick and choose hand traps or maybe you choose to run some board breakers, or some cool inventive tech. Maxx c in a lot if not most of circumstances makes it harder to go second because the other player could just drop maxx c on you with a full board with 5 negates now you have to contend with that. Maxx c should be banned, there is no reason it should be legal
What most people bring up when talking about Maxx "C" is that it has outs, there are counters. In Magic, what some people will say to argue that a problem card isnt a problem is that it "Dies to removal" which means it has no form of protecting itself on the card. This, however, doesn't actually excuse the issue because the problem card is still a problem, its just that said problem can be easy to deal with if you draw an out. And at a surface level, that would seem like enough, but thats not the real issue with Maxx "C". The actual issue is how much advantage is being generated from a singular card. By that I mean "How many cards in a given match does this 1 card deal with, or generate?" Dying to removal is a way to say that a card isnt broken because the opponent can always kill it, or counter it thus making it a 1 for 1. I cast 1 creature, you cast 1 spell to kill that creature and there you go. 1-for-1, an equal exchange. However, problem cards are cards that break that balance too much. For example, Accesscode Talker is a monster that at the cost of roughly 4 other monsters it can deal with anywhere between 1 and 6 cards, so the resources spend to create him can either be 'less' than the number of cards he deals with, or 'more' than the number of cards he deals with. Either way, he is only ever at most going to go 1.5-for-1, you spent 4 resources and the opponent lost 6, so you go +2 in card advantage overall (the problem with this card is how generic it is, something Maxx "C" Shares as well, but not the point here). He never goes outright 2 for 1, because that would mean he can answer 8 cards on board, which he just doesn't. Maxx "C" is a slightly different problem because it doesnt outright remove cards on field or in hand by itself, so it can go 1 for 1 if the opponent uses a card like 'called by the grave' or 'ash blossom', which becomes a net neutral (+0) in card advantage, or they dont and you go anywhere from +1 to +10 from 1 card. Lastly, they could just not special summon and you go -1, but its not like Maxx "C" would matter at that point anyways because by then your just gonna do your own degenerate combo so it might as well be neutral because it doesnt protect your cards. At the cost of 1 singular card at quick effect speed on either players turn, you have now answered either *every* card in their deck, or simply forced them to spend a singular resource from their hand. Maxx "C" will almost NEVER let you go negative in card advantage, and is always either neutral or positive. Now, by itself that wouldnt be an issue if the amount it could draw was limited to 2 or 3, but the fact that its not limited is what makes it insane. It is either A) the best floodgate in the game by forcing your opponent to not play the game at all or in a very limited capacity, or B) one of the best draw spells in the game by drawing you upwards of 8+ cards to ensure that your next turn goes perfectly, not to mention it drawing you hand traps in the middle of your opponents combo potentially stopping them in their tracks or protecting you on your turn to ensure that all your effects go off. It simply does TOO MUCH at such little cost to run it that regardless of it having outs its never a BAD card to play. You should never NOT play Maxx "C" because its never a dead card and its never gonna cause you to go negative in card advantage in any real way.
It also limits deck building options almost every single deck runs 3 ash,3 maxx c,2 called by, and 1 designator. You have to put 9 cards in your deck to counter 1 card and that just isn't fun and limits creative deck building.
@@nightmarearcade2663Preach! I remember a time when cards got Limited or Forbidden because of how much they over centralized the meta (Pot, Raigeki, Duster, IO, etc.). What happened to that?
@@nightmarearcade2663 I've been saying this from the start, all those cards are just but a bandaid that hurst casual/rogue decks more. Also your wasting resources to counter 1 card that could have used for other cards
More of the sit down and talk style videos! I love these a lot, y’all’s energy is always amazing but it’s nice to just listen to a one sided conversation as well, get the brain juices flowing
Thanks! I actually do a lot more of these on the second channel, APS Amplifier, but I'm bringing some here because they get more eyes on the topics that (I feel) matter.
Honestly, most of Master Duel's most pressing problems could be solved if they just made a TCG Ladder and an OCG Ladder. It doesn't seem like having two ban lists to choose from would be difficult to implement from a coding perspective, and didn't they advertise that before launch anyway? Yeah, being best-of-one and having a strange card release schedule would still impact things- it wouldn't be a perfectly accurate simulator- but it would be leagues better than what we have now, and it would do a lot more to prepare players for IRL play... assuming that's the goal. Personally, I think Master Duel has more potential as its own, third format. Part of the reason I like the TCG is because of the delayed card releases. The west has the benefit of learning from Japan's mistakes, allowing them to either pre-ban cards or delay their release to reduce FTKs and just ensure more interesting duels in general. Master Duel COULD have been an extension of this; a game that learns from BOTH formats and brings us the most balanced version of Yugioh. And in some ways they do kind of do that? But it always feels half-hearted, as if the dev team is split between wanting to create a third format and wanting to replicate original two.
I usually auto-surrender if my opponent drops Maxx "C" on me and I don't have a means of dealing with it. It's not worth my happiness to play a match where I'm under Maxx "C"--especially if my opponent went first and set up a huge board.
Heres the thing people could easily just choose a mode between best of 3 with side or best of 1. There could be a separate ladder if they really wanted it to and the rounds count as wins in it so you're basically getting the same rank progression over time in either mode. It's like moba games on mobile they can take like an hour but people still do it so I can easily see that working
Master Duel is great. I think it's my preferred method of playing YuGiOh just because using the game feels good. For as much as I would like certain features or having it be more up to date with its card roster, I still think Master Duel is a lot of fun
I’m new to master duel, I was told to try black wings. I’m trying to understand it. I had a much better experience this past weekend after I tried to duplicate a deck I saw on YT
I know its too late but if you wanna start a deck you should know the concept of the deck for instance Blackwings rely on the spell (was it whirlwind) to get its materials easily
I always start with online deck lists then mess around with it once I try it out. Only annoyance is spending in game currency on cards that you end up not using later.
I agree with the Duelist Cup point at the end of the video. This was my issue with Duel Links events in the same capacity: a lot of us don’t have time to sit down and grind that stuff out
The thing with Master Duel is I'm playing it forever because the AI is the best judge. You can't beat that. I don't want to be the judge during my opponents turn and sit there and explain an interaction (if I know it) "because I saw how it works in Master Duel". I seriously don't want to keep perfect track of my opponent so they don't cheat, especially when I don't understand their deck, which is often. I used to play the Joey the Passion over whatever so Master Duel is a dream come true. Master Duel for life.
Definitely agreed on this! I love not having to rely on human error when I'm playing Yu-Gi-Oh. In real life, I can make mistakes, my opponent can make mistakes, and even Judges, too. So it's nice having an engine that simply won't allow any of that to ever happen. Takes a bit of the edge off in a game as complex as this one already is.
I agree completely on your points,i love all the constant updates for the UI and keeping track of things and what is going on. I do wish they would be faster in releasing cards since it is so far behind, I REALLY want to play vanquish souls and nouvelles in MD but i wont expect to see it until maybe the end of the year at the earliest which is very frustrating to me. Also on a side note I LOVE your shirt, please tell me where you got it, I wanna get one myself!
Yeah, I wish they could speed up new card additions. There are still a few decks from LAST year (Ninjas and Dracoslayers) that haven't been added in yet, which really sucks. Also, my shirt's from Star Salts. Let them know I sent you! starsalts.com/
The most difficult and important effect they need to track is lingering protection effects like IP Masquerena. In my experience its so easy to lose track of those and make a misplay from it.
I believe there is an influence button for every card where it shows what other cards influence it like for example IP, but you need to actively click on it. I think if the game showed every lingering effect, it can get overwhelming and at some points its unfortunately just a skill issue.
I would love it if... Yu-Gi-Oh had a format option. I love the synchro and xyz era format. If I can only play using those rules and card restrictions, that will bring me back to the game
I absolutely love Master Duel because it allows me to create a bunch of decks I wouldn't be able to in TCG because of money. I do wish they would give us Music Selection. Or at the very least, tie music with OUR field instead of the opponent. Most of my opponents play the Default field (I understand why).
So, your point on Maxx "C" is basically: deal with it ? I mean, we can say the same shit about Tearlament or any other deck or tech instead of using the ban list...
I do appreciate the fact that Master Duel does tend to regularly update the card pool every 6-8 weeks. So it kinda has its own Meta that will eventually catch to how whatever deck your using will run in the TCG. Maxx C is a very interesting example because you’re right. We’ve reached that point in the TCG where there are numerous ways to counter a card (honestly, I feel Pot of Greed could be limited to one copy at this point). Appreciate you making this video bro 👍🏾
I fully agree with you here. I just wish Konami would errata cards more quickly with Masterduel. Cards like Fairytail Snow, Block Dragon, Dark World Silva all should have a Hard Once Per Turn and they could be fine to keep at in the game.
The worst part of Maxx C isn't when you want to combo off and they drop it on you, it's when you get combo'd on and think "oh I might be able to break this board!" only to get Maxx C'd by the combo player. In a vacuum Maxx C makes sense where the hypothetical is "they just went +3, thankfully my Maxx C even'd the playing field." In practice however those fair scenarios come up soooo rarely that I would comfortably say Maxx C is like 5% used fairly to a 95% used unfairly/the reason you won or lost the match
Not to mention if both players are running 3 copies, each player has roughly a 33% chance to open one meaning you are basically flipping a coin to see if there is even a game to play in the first place.
I really like the thought about making past Festivals in Casual Mode, it's a different take I haven't heard for a while. Legend Anthology Festivals were particularly enjoyed by players, I'm sure a lot would like to relive it. As for casual rewards, maybe like very small gem rewards? like 5-10 gems for a win. That way you would still have to grind a LOT to get enough to buy a pack.
The Maxx C helps going second argument makes no sense when your opponent can end on a full board and still drop Maxx C on you. Why wasn’t this mentioned in the video???
This is the problem when you don't look at it from all sides and instead only seeing how it benefits or putting yourself under the illusion that it's not that bad.
So the thing about Maxx "C" is that it doesn't have a limitation like some cards. It's like if you are going second and didn't have Maxx "C" in hand but your opponent puts up a board of negates. Then lets say you negate their monsters that have a lot of negates with a card that they can't negate like Dark Ruler no more. Then they just use Maxx "C" now you not only have to get rid of their monsters but you have to worry about other cards that might stop you as they are drawing. Now Maxx "C" can be a double edged sword for a player. Sometimes it's good to draw cards but if they person can endlessly special summon through everything then they can just deck you out if they can. Yet master duel has a lot of broken cards that are banned in the TCG. Some that makes combos that you don't want to play against. Like how many times you want to see Chaos ruler or Fairy tail snow. It's like you said they don't even have all the cards in the game. They aren't even up to date and it's still a lot of cards missing. Also if you are a player trying to play the paper game. Just go to your locals and ask someone to teach you. It's easier to be taught how the game works. If you tell them that you played master duel first they will explain the rest and help you with playing the game. Don't force yourself straight into something without asking players who play the paper game. One last thing is if you do play paper make sure you always look up the tcg banlist because you will find the cards you can't use and the ones that are semi-limited and limited. My main problem with master duel is they don't try to make it fun. Yes it is a best of 1 but it's just not fun. I have beaten meta decks with non meta decks. Yet the game isn't really fun because you always see the same decks in the top. Going to the top doesn't really mean anything. It's nothing making me want to go to the top of rank. Most use a meta deck then once at the top they use a different deck for "fun". I get bored really fast with the game. You either are facing some random ftk that exist, a otk only deck like numeron, a meta deck, a stun/anti meta deck and a rouge deck. While at the top is the people who like to fill the board with as many negates as possible while still having Ash or Maxx C in hand.
I dont mind not having rewards for casual mode...my issue is it is already filled with meta decks lol. People want to practice and not loose rank, i dont think there is a way to regulate this. Casual should be just that - casual, but casual means different things to different duelist. At this moment i wish i could play fun Magnet decks or something like that in casual but no...i run into ishezu tear...fun
I have hundreds of hours in solo mode because of this. If Konami is reading this (lol), please add more and better solo modes because casual is a completely lost cause
I was thinking the same at 8:10 - I loved the N/R Event, super fun and you can play a lot of different decks. I would love N/R as a Permanent Mode but they never brought it back ever
I love that it takes 50,000 years for them to add new cards😊😊😊 if it comes out physically, align the update to reflect the release date of the physical product.
A reason for this, if I had to guess, was it'd be even less of a reason to play the physical game. Say MD caught up to the TCG, why would you bother building Vanquish Soul IRL when you can just do in MD for free? Or Mannadium, or Kashtira, or any deck for that matter. Master Duel being so behind is at least a reason to make a deck irl because the physical game has decks that won't be in MD anytime soon.
Just because a card has counters, even if there's like a 3 or 4 to 1 counters ratio per Deck, doesn't mean the card is healthy for the game. Konami will Limit and outright Ban cards for the sake of Deck Diversity so that every Deck doesn't have to come prebaked with the same 11+ copies of cards that almost entirely exist to be their own little Mario Party minigame apart from the main game and Decks at play. Although I can't really get upset with you Paul. You explain yourself fairly well and level headed.
I love this channel! I'm back to yugioh after about 20years and I'm shocked at how insane it's changed. I love Master Duel, it's helping me learning the new rules and playing different free decks. My son is 8 and kicks my ass so it's definitely a good teacher lol. We play the ancient gods deck in person and it's definitely a hassle compared to the convenience of playing master duel.
I like to play cardboard yugioh with friends. We use the starter God decks a lot and your definitely right about the convenience of master duel. When we play on paper and I have to shuffle my deck myself I'm borderline offended 🤣 MD sure has pampered us haha
Ive been playing IRL draft duels with our very old OG, GX and 5D cards and man is it fun. No game feels the same and no strategy is the same. Really wish something like this could be implemented in Master Duel too
I really don't have fun playing competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! and that is, unfortunately for me, like 90% of what Master Duel is about. Yeah, there's a single player mode and you can just have more casual duels with your friends, but those options either don't or barely work towards getting gems or new cards. The deck editor is fantastic though. I want that card crafting system in all Yu-Gi-Oh! games going forward.
try duel links format. it is also free to play, and duels have a better balance between how long turns take to play and number of turns that pass between players per duel. It is faster paced (time wise per turn on average) than master duel. It also has cards master duel does not have such as kiteroid or empress's staff and hosts fun events with alternate dueling formats to keep things interesting. FTP rewards are quite generous and farming gems is not that tedious imo
@@Sigmaairav Yeah, Duel Links has been my go to whenever I need my Yu-Gi-Oh! fix. I actually have about 400 hours put into it on my Steam account hehe I also tend to try out whatever Yu-Gi-Oh! video games they bring out. I'm playing through the newest Rush Duel game on Switch currently. It's not the best, but it is better suited to what I want from Yu-Gi-Oh! Cheers for the heads up anyway, friendo! 👍
Honestly I generally play the Solo mode, slowly working through the story arcs, playing a few games every few days. I think the solo mode does a good job of letting you get familiar with the wide variety of decks/deckstyles, but I also feel, watching Duel Live, i'm not really being introduced to 'meta' decks, since they're more personalised. There's some seriously long combo's going on that I just can't completetly comprehend without first using the deck myself a few times at least. I'd love to have a function to 'borrow' decks in the public deck search vs ai, just to see which meta decks i'd even enjoy before having to spend resources making them. Don't want to ruin other peoples matches by having to first even understand the deck i'm playing.
Hey, first of all, I'd like to say : I agree on everything. But I also have a little bit more to add ! Maxx C too, I agree. Maxx C is polarizing, it prevents some decks to go full power, and it's the most played card for a reason (90% decks ?). But, because of that, everybody runs outs. I don't resolve a lot of maxx C. I don't even play 3, because yes it's strong, but because of all those out, I often just enjoy playing 1 for crossout designator or similar, or 2. I also played a lot of outs to it with my Marincess deck (got both my pure marincess and generaider decks to diamond in a matter of a week and I'm happy). Droll & Lock for instance is great because it's a SR ! It's easy to craft and helps a lot. Then I got called by the grave, ash, etc. And now... well, with my generaider, I don't play them at all ! As you said, everybody wants to go first. So I just run 3 evenly matched, multiples lightning storms and such, and I have like 70% win rate with generaider to diamond because I get to play second almost all of the time, even breaking tearlament 3 omni-negate boards ! So yeah, many ways to play around, and if everybody can run 3, then all of sudden it's way less imbalanced. If Maxx C was at 1, it would be awful. It would prevent people from wanting to play outs to it, because "hey, it's just 1 card out of 40, it'll be fine" but it would make most people unable to prevent it from resolving, thus increasing the "lucky / unlucky" factor. Maxx C out of the way now. A big problem with Master duel, is monetization. Yes you can play so many decks and have fun ! But as you said, most people will get out of gold fast. Plat' rank was a great addition, it's a rank where you can still see very weird things in quantities ! But still, if you play a very sub-optimal deck, and are a newbie, you'll have to just... play against tearlament, spright, etc. And you'll lose. Over and over again. And it's not fun. They aren't even interesting matches in these kind of match-up. But... if a newbie (and i mean that with lots of affection) struggles to win, they won't get as many gems. And they will want to craft lots of UR for instance. And it will take time. Which leads to... The events. Monster Type event is a very good example. Around 2 or 3 duels out of 4 are just people running decks that either self-burn, or just burn / gren maju OTK, because they want fast wins. They'll surrender if their hand is bad, instantly. And yes you will win your own gems quickly ! But... it's not fun ? Most of my friends don't know how to build competitive decks. Not only that, they don't want, just as I don't want to, especially in those events ! So this fun game mode will just end up... being sad to play. Disappointing. And it leads to people leaving. New people getting sad, disappointed, frustrated, etc. And it's linked to the amount of UR and also just many decks requiring a huge amount of them. Baronne / Zeus / Accesscode talker are fine, they're just 1-of and splashables. But want to play a deck where you have to craft like 10+ URs, some of them in master packs only, and then add all the UR and SR staples ? It's demoralizing. That's where the business model still fails : it's frustrating for new players, for people just wanting to try to get out of their nostalgia bubble of "i want to play blue eyes, i'm ready to learn about links" and realize... they can't, or hardly, because their blue-eyes made with love already cost them most of their crafting materials, and earning gems has become hard, and they maybe crafted cards that will never splash. And then they'll try the loaner decks for events. And be sad the can barely play a real game. And not even be able to test for instancea labrynth deck, because they got barely 1 duel out of 4 or 5 where the opponent played the game ! I got those words from two friends today and it made me... sad, because I will keep playing, i have a huge special interest on card game. But they don't. And they'll stop. And don't understand why, and how to get out of such situations. It could be solved, in part, by both making casual way more interesting (as you mentionned) for rewards while keeping it separate from ranked so it's not meta-party in casual. Seasonal events like the current one could also give gems but also... cards ? Like in solo-gate where you can get some interesting cards, but for decks linked to the event ? And then people may want to play them in ranked too ! It doesn't solve all, at all, but it would help. Also, I want an underdog format. Every cards that are over like 15% usage are banned. Or something like that. You mentionned in a past video, I think, how wonderful it was, and how it could help TCG have new or returning players stick to the game and enjoy it ! Well, could work here too. Also banning the self-burn cards or similar. Lower rewards than ranked, maybe, but still able to complete missions and such. I think people would love it. Ranked being the main way to play, and being very punitive for new players are soon as they climb over gold, is not a good thing. Because they'll become stuck to play against people with strong meta decks that they won't understand, be able to beat, etc. And will lose. And nobody want to lose in *ranked*. At least, I think so. It's scary. It can easily be linked to meaning "i'm bad and i don't like this game when it gets "serious" and can't play against people like me". So yeah, some ideas, I think you asked both for engagement with videos (youtube can be a harsh environment when it's your job), but also I trust that you're interested in such opinions. You might not read it, but I wanted to write it just in case, also for other people, and because your opinions about this game : I share them. A game should be enjoyable, and not just for a very low number of people who will play meta or try to climb. Especially with yugioh where lots of people have a huge nostalgia factor and will also want to learn what's new, but hit a (meaphorical) wall when the duels don't give them any chance to learn. Thanks for this video, and also, thanks to all Team APS, you're very wholesomes and my favorite yugioh channel by far. And i'm happy to see you enjoy doing what you want. I hope you'll have lots of good times ahead, and lots of fun, and again, thanks a lot for everything. Maybe we will see each other on the ladder, I think that would make fun duels with our "weird" (positive adjective) decks there !
The biggest thing for me is how community made projects have built amazing programs that add soooo much more than Konami has ever added in a game in a long time. Community made projects offer such an amazing amount of customizable options that would benefit players and content creators. You can host your own choice of what banlists to use, tag modes, boss modes, challenge modes, even modes like 1v2 or 2v3. That's not even including when programs have put cards with all versions of it. For example they put card of sanctity with both anime effect and tcg effect. The possibilities are just far more in free community made projects that to me it feels like Konami always gives the bare minimum. VR YUGIOH (you don't need vr btw to play it) is more basic, but even that has the monsters come out of the card. Even Konami's previous game Legacy of the duelist has a summoning video for ace monsters, and not just a gif of the card being played and just yeeting itself to the opponent when attacking. I say all this when communities DON'T have the resources that Konami does.
They had the same exact system for the duelist cup invitation in duel links, it was shit back then and I can’t believe they imported it into master duel, u wanna know who is REALLY the best duelist in a region? Give duelists limited duels per day and make them matches. As for competitive vs casual, dragon ball legends has this great system where they also have ranked and a casual mode, but with casual mode u can play it daily to earn a reward that u cant get anywhere else, that way casual players can still play casual while feeling like they’re actually doing something productive in the game, that’s be something nice to add to md
These are honestly amazing suggestions. I’m a casual yugioh play (only play master duel). Currently sitting in diamond 1. I have all these same issues with the game but I wasn’t sure the best options to fix them but this seems good!
I just got into MD last month, mainly because I really enjoyed the Physical card game but my old Yugioh Group has disbanded many years ago. Maybe Yugioh has always been like this and I was sheltered from it all this time since my friend group did not touch the meta, we’d make pure decks from archetypes we liked, didn’t even use hand traps if it wasn’t thematic to the deck. I wanted to get back into the game but geez it is very tough to enjoy. It truly feels like everyone I’ve run into only play 3-5 decks. This is what I ran into from Beginner to Diamond. I’ve tried the Casual mode this past week and in my experience it’s the same thing there, I’d imagine people practice their meta deck there and then transition into the ranked mode. I’ve been a big fan of Yugioh since I’ve had memory so I’d like to continue playing but I feel like in Master Duel Purgatory. Judging by the video, it’s just the nature of the game, so I don’t realistically see myself sticking around.
The game is really great and I get that there are certain cards you can't dismantle, but when you got like 4+ and can't dismantle it when you only need a total of 3 of them for any of your decks anyway. And that you can't use banned/forbidden cards in duels with friends in duel rooms
The game needs something other than ranked duels, not giving any rewards whatsoever for casual play just feels wrong and I can’t help but feel like it should be a thing.
The biggest problem I've encountered is that the meta is just too powerful for rogue decks to stand against, it makes the concept of being creative with your deck almost impossible if you intend to win at all. I have been playing Yu-Gi-Oh for over 20 years, and even I have difficulty creating decks that are even remotely competitive against the onslaught of meta decks that you face in master duel. Dragon maid, evil twin, strikers, and otk exodia decks, every recent meta has been too powerful for the idea of anybody new to the game to be able to beat them in any reasonable capacity and they drain the fun from anybody going against them. 90% of games that you play on Master duel will be 10 minutes of you watching your opponent play cards until they either win or scoop, I have many different decks, but only one that I will play outside of my friend group, because it is the only deck I have that can stand up to the metas without completely removing the fun from the game. I honestly don't know if there is a solution to the problem, but the problem is easy to see. Edit: I actually just thought of solution that might work, what are people's thoughts on assigning deck costs to specific cards? Make it to where you can only play against other players whose Deck cost is in the ballpark of your own. You could also increase the cost of cards in a specific archetype based on how many other cards are also from that archetype in your current deck, that way people won't be instantly discouraged to put specific architect cards into a rogue deck while experimenting. So as an example: Blue-Eyes White dragon 5 points add 10 different support cards for the blue eyes, all Blue-Eyes cards are now +5 each. Obviously the example numbers wouldn't be balanced, but that would be a general idea of how it works.
I whole heartedly agree with that sentiment of the meta being too strong for rogue decks, Yugioh has so much potential for creativity but you don’t really see any of that, a staggering amount of the Yugioh scene plays the same meta strategies. I honestly can’t tell if I’m playing against a different people, no uniqueness at all. A whole bunch of duplicates, One of my pet peeves with Yugioh is that so many cards are so powerful and so generic. It's pretty lame seeing everyone play the same cards. There's very little variety in a game with so many cards. I have been playing on and off for about 20 years and I have about 20+ different decks in real life (each one playing different from the next) none of my decks played that same cards with each other. I tried to keep them as pure to the archetype as possible too, my Blue Eyes deck did not use any Galaxy Eyes Xyz, those were in my Galaxy Eyes deck, Cyber Infinity was not in my Galaxy Eyes Deck either, that card was in the Cyber Deck. Destiny Hero Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer, he’s where he belongs, in my Destiny Hero deck and nowhere else. I understand this limits the full potential of the decks but it makes for a different experience. The generic side might help weaker decks keep up with the stronger decks but the problem is that those already strong decks can add these generic cards and further increase the power gap. I wish they made these hand traps, or boss monsters archetype specific. For example: Baronne De Fluer is a strong generic boss monster almost everyone plays, it's an evolution of Chevelier De Fleur but it has no ties to it at all. I'd say keep Baronne's effect the same but make at least one of her materials a Fleur monster or even a Wind Synchro. But realistically that won't happen and it'll probably make the gap worse. The biggest issue is that a lot of these newer cards are kinda designed to be Meta from the jump. Most of the cards have 3+ positive effects and very few downside's if any, and then spend more time playing on the opponents turn. Compare something like Skyscraper 1 and 2 to Orcustrated Babel or Runick Fountain
I played Yu-Gi-Oh a ton as a kid, up through the end of the GX era. I came back to it now in my late 20’s with this game. There should be some sort of setting so you can play with, like, pre-2010 rules/meta. It’s insane now. I just watch these people take 10-minute turns bringing out 5 4,000 ATK monsters and it’s insane. I just surrender when I see someone starting to take these 10-minute turns. It seems like they just enjoy watching themselves play anyways
Thank you for this! Hopped on the mobile MD, and played for a week straight after watching this. I love the Dragonmaids, never had a Maxx C problem I couldn't deal with using them, even though they are combo only!
Players who wins multiple games: doesn't complain Players who lose 1 game: f**ken stupid a** game, this is BS, imma go rage!!! If you ain't ready to lose you ain't ready to win.
Great video! Totally agree that the higher ranks feel like a bit of a drag with all the repeated meta stuff but I think that is an issue for any game that has a competitive mode. I love the game, but I think my biggest issue I had since tearlaments came out is the time a turn can take since they do so much and I wish maybe they could implement something to make it faster like maybe you can toggle on something to auto say yes to all your effect trigers and stuff. On the point of Master duel as an entry to the TCG I do think it is a bad product to make the jump into paper play. Like legit Maxx C makes master duel a diferent game all togheter and, unlike the OCG, the TCG is prohibitively expensive due to Konami's anti comsumer practices when it comes to the internatinal product releases, making the jump from free to play friendly a big ask.
@@Honest_Mids_Masher oh, my bad. What I meant to say is it makes you play and build decks very definitely, so a part of your experience and notions of what is good and not won't translate directly to TCG.
@@May_92 While that is true I can't argue with that in all honesty I don't really feel much difference in deckbuilding except that you now have to add the same 9 cards in every deck and decks hardly play differently than they did in the TCG nor were the decks built differently either except for the Maxx C package.
Honestly, you did point out all of my concerns with current YGO. AS someone who stopped playing when Fusion was the big thing with E HERO decks, coming back and learning about Synchro and XYZ was annoying, but I did it, and now Pendulum and Cyberse Summoning just legitimately hurts my head. I've played through the ranks, gotten to High Gold/Low Diamond, and then it's the same 3 or 4 decks every time, and I don't want to play a Meta deck. I find those boring and dull, so I like playing weird things. Toons are my favorite archetype, but again, they have no place in modern YGO, and that makes me sad ; ;
The problem you have by making more formats available is shallowing the player pool unless you queue for multiple formats at the same time and select the deck you want to use before the duel begins.
Can we talk about how fresh that pokedog button up is?! Clean af my guy But on the subject of MD all I want is to be able to dismantle legacy cards, especially for the FTP folks
They need a TCG mode, an OCG mode, a way to play with cards without spending thousands of dollars, maybe not demand so much of your time on quests. And I'd still love a format selector, play Goat format, Teledad, Synchro launch etc
Yoooo, you have a Witchcrafter deck? Awesome, man. I have a hybrid deck of Fortune Lady and Witchcrafter that I like using from time to time. Man, I miss playing Master Duel. I moved into a new place, and the internet is pure garbage. I literally can't finish a single duel without having a connection failure. Nexus is my home now, but it just isn't the same.
I just got back into yugioh, last time was mid 2000s. Master duals is fun, it is helping me understand the new summoning such as pendulum, synchros, and the blue cards with red arrows. Still learning, only a week into it. Might consider going to a card shop and playing the tcg, hopefully people are nice enough and understand I got a huge learning curve ahead of me. I see there’s a lot more rarities since I left lol
@@PokeKon91 The requirements are shown on the card but you can also use link monsters as material for other link monsters. If a link monster has two red arrows it can count as two monsters so if you have a link 2 monster and combine it with another monster you can make a link 3.
@@Honest_Mids_Masher ahh ok so if I have one link monster on the field whatever that was used to summon it can stack up to summon a higher link monster,
@@PokeKon91 pretty much yeah that's why links are insanely powerful you can stack two link 2 monsters to make a link 4. Or if you don't want to count the link monsters arrows you can count them as a single monster so instead of using two link 2's to make a link 4 you can use combine two link 2's to make another link 2
My biggest problem is that in “casual” people go and don’t play casually! I guess everyone has their own definition of casual, a traditional summon, set pass. Or more of like, after 1 turn you summon a synchro, xyz or your boss monster, while others even think it is a deck that is good, bunch of summons, blah, blah, blah. But is not viable in the current master duel meta. And Konami cannot fix people’s mentality on “casual” so casual is just a weaker “ranked” at this point unfortunately.
I actually understand this because I was playing a Utopia Deck in Master Duel and wanted to build it irl, but before Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring became easier to get, I'd have to spend $24 just to get 1. Same for Infinite Impermanence because it was $16+
I ended up adding Substitute Cards, but luckily I didn't have to use them, so my Combo's still worked fine. I'm glad they're easier to get now, but now I have to start over because in 1 go, someone stole all 15 of my Decks 😭
The single most frustrating issue that MS has is loss by glitch. For example, when your opponent has four monsters in Attack mode and your Mirror Force only destroys one or your Divine Wrath randomly doesn’t trigger when a monster’s effect occurs. When this occurs regularly, you might as well play irl because a win in MD means nothing.
I think Master Duel needs a system in place that measures how powerful someone's deck is. For example, going into ranked play, the game takes into account what cards you're using and gauges a power level from that. It will then compare that to someone else's deck and if the power levels of both decks are equal or close enough then you play each other. If the power level gap is too wide, then it doesn't pair you with that person's deck and continues searching for another deck for you to duel against. This system only takes into account the cards you are using, and not the whole archtype. For example, if both duelists are using blackwing cards but one of them is using Maxx C, Ash Blossom, Called By The Grave, Infinite Impermanence and Baronne de Fluer and the other is using pure Blackwing cards only, then the system will rate the pure Blackwing duelist as having a lower power level due to the lack of the previously mentioned cards. As such, it won't pair these duelists against each other cos the power level gap will be too wide. This system can be used regardless of your rank, whether you're silver, gold or even platinum or above, it will not take ranking into account so silver rank players won't face meta decks and vice versa. I believe this system could make things more enjoyable as you'll face decks that shoud give you a fair challenge and won't overwhelm you. I understand if this kind of system is hard to program into the game, I'm not a computer programmer at all so I don't know if this is impossible, hard or easy to implement but a system that can do all of that will makes easier and fairer.
Suppose that will work, asking the system to rate every card is a bit too much to ask for. Just keeping track of the "meta" defining cards is easier. As long as there's some sort of system that can make match-making more fairer, then I don't really care how it does it, as long as it works. Then again, I'm not holding my breath for that to happen but it would definitely help, if it works.
My main issues with the game and which doesn't really keep me playing it daily or really a reason to not get higher rank if quite a few things. 1. There is no rank leaderboard. 2. We don't get anything really special each month for hitting X Rank the gems and the icons are nice but I want more like titles ect ect. Last thing is how ladder is I love BO3 formats especially coming from TCG switching to Master Duel, what they should do like how MTG Arena does it make a separate option for players to play either BO1 or BO3 format that way everyone is happy
I hate how the card pool doesn't match up to the TCG or OCG. If I get excited to play a deck, I know I'll have to go elsewhere because it won't be in Master Duel for several months or a year. You can still update the F/L list every month BUT without the cards being updated, my interest in new cards won't be satiated in any official way
my only issue is getting cards.. UR are pretty expensive if you dont spend money to buy packs/do ranked/ get the pass etc, im more a casual player that plays against friends and i have like 3 good decks, if i need to make another, i have to sell the decks haha, the game is solid though and no hate on spending money to buy cards etc, just not for me
I built some of the most expensive decks in the game without spending a single cent, it's really just comes down to managing your resources. It took a while, but the grind was worth it.
@@ZeothTheHedgehog yeah i get it, have no issue with it etc, just wish it could be easier, its not my main game by far, i play every few weeks against friends, then thats it for another few weeks etc
The biggest issue is the net code. Compare COD or FGC net code. I can play cod or sf with no lag or delay. If I can have frame perfect connection on these other games, I don't understand why a card game gives me lag/delay/disconnects 100x more that an fps or fgc game. Wtactualf?
Im a RUclipsr creator and bro finding ur channel haves been a blessing im a yugioh fan and its nice seeing black people like me making videos about yugioh
I feel like Maxx C definitely needs some attention at some point. I understand your points and there are some decks that don’t care about Maxx C as much like Floowandereeze and Dogmatika but I don’t want to be forced to play those decks because of one card. If I want to play something like Dragon Link they don’t have the space for cards such as Ash Blossom or Called By the Grave. Sure you can put them in there but that severely hits the consistency of the starters that you need to draw for that deck to function. You know a card is bad when almost 90% of decks are playing it. Overall I am really enjoying master duel though. There are a couple of additions I’d like to see like maybe a testing room where you can create decks for free to play against friends. That way you can both test out decks that you may like, build them, and take them on ladder without having to spend money on gems or create a new account for testing. Althernate format ladders definitely need to be a thing too. Come on Konami! I’d love to climb a ladder for Edison, Goat or even Highlander/EDH.
Even when Paul makes a mostly positive video he comes out as a Maxx C sympathizer 😂 Maxx C is as cancer. I think Maxx C needs the errata of your opponent must have more cards on field than you. Nothing is worse than facing down a full Tear or Branded board, just to get Maxx C’d on top of that
@@True2ChainzLilWayne idk what the implications of that errata would be in the TCG but in just MD I feel like it would fix it I don’t even know if all decks would play it since it would be super bad going first which is perfect. It would also give the first turn player a chance with this errata especially thinking of D Link. You special a baby chaos dragon, get Maxx C’d (with the errata) normal a monster and then make Seals. Your opponent just gets 1 draw and you have an okay monster
Love your stuff and love most of this video but I think you partially ignore how warped the game is around max c because it forces you to run all its outs otherwise you lose which is not a very healthy meta. Or I’m an idiot love your stuff either way.
No, you're definitely not an idiot! But I will say this: Maxx C doesn't *FORCE* you to do anything. You can always stop Special summoning. Or keep Special summoning. Or just Special summon one or two more times, just enough to get you in a safe place. You can play a deck that's more resilient to it (midrange or control decks), or you can add in more outs to it in a deck that struggles with it. OR you could even do neither of those two things and just run whatever deck and cards you want regardless of its presence. The card has all the influence and none at the same time.
@@TeamAPS your too kind and that is a fair point. but in a meta where every duel is determined in the first 2 turns can you afford to take a turn not really doing anything given how important special summoning is too most decks? or is this too competitive (spikey) opinion?
I would like a story mode that follows the animes but with updated deck lists... I haven't played the solo mode for a year its not that fun but i don't always want to duel the top decks when I make it to platinum or diamond. Infact i haven't made it to diamond since the first month it came out
You really shouldn't have to be forced to run a plethora of cards JUST for Maxx "C", that's the main problem. Unless it was erratta'd to have turn or empty board restrictions it's going to always be a problem. Having to draw outs or have someone setup an entire board of negates just to play maxx c against you anyway is just straight unhealthy for the game in my opinion. The few legitimate counter arguments fighting for maxx c will never outweigh its meta warping problems it has and it's numerous issues it brings up in games.
I personally want to see Maxx C banned. there are a lot of cards to counter it, however, a lot of those cards are not good in some matchups. Instead I would like to have any other card that's good for the current format, but can't cause I need room in my deck to counter Maxx C. some decks can play under Maxx C, but not every deck can. and have little to no interaction at all if they pass. and simply losing cause you didn't draw "the out" to Maxx C, shouldn't be a thing in the first place (that goes for many cards, that say "if you didn't draw this one specific card(s), you lose the game). and Maxx C shouldn't be the solution to stopping combo decks, Instead banning/limiting key cards from that combo deck instead, should be the solution from that deck being too broken
Main issue I've experienced is the sheer amount of rookie crushers making it impossible to earn the gems necessary to keep making more decks and my money is going to bills
I don't mind the competition because it forces me to get better but I shouldn't even know what tearlament or runic even is in rookie
Some people jusy have to be the unfortunate fodder for competitive players to go back up
One of my problem with the game is you can't choose which music you can use like select your own version of passionate duelist you know
Yeah fr. The opera music is lit af. They also need new post boss monster music because that opera shit too lit i hate to summon my bosses when it's on
Isn't the music played based on YOUR OPPONENT'S field too? As in, if you buy a new field skin, YOU don't even get to hear the music!
I almost never go into a secret pack twice. I go in with 10k gems and leave with everything I am ever going to pull from it.
Don't forget when maintenance hits😅
Tall order, but it's something that they do at least have in Solo Mode, so the potential is there.
Master Duel seriously needs more formats:
1-Old School (Goat, Edison)
2-Cheap formats (N/R)
3-Draft format
4-Best out of 3
5-Tag Duels
6-Faster formats (Rush / Speed duels)
7-Alternative Meta (Heart of the Underdog)
Like bro, there are other DCGs that have some of these formats such as Shadowverse
Speed will probably remain a Duel Links thing.
And maybe add more Solo stuff
Rush and speed duels already in duel links ,wdym add to master duel lmao
@@Anzu_Chan69 Rush wasn't at making of the comment.
What do you mean ?
You guys got me into Yu-gi-oh during the lock down and i thought id give the TCG a whirl and realized and started collecting cards but as soon as Master Duel came out i just decided to stick MD cus i have so many fun decks that they arent competitive i find fun and have paid 0 dollars to make.
I think they need a mode where those decks can still hang. Casual Mode kind of works, at least.
That's online games. In general, there is always an op meta
you're playing the wrong game bud.
@@GutsmanLoL"Bud"
I think another good improvement is that losing by surrendering would give you rewards that you normally get for losing a game by your opponent beating you, and that losing by your opponent beating you should reward more so you losing the game honorably doesn't feel like such a waste...
I wouldn't mind this change. Saves us all a bit of time without sacrificing EVERYTHING for it.
The gem rewards should probably be overhauled. People will optimize the fun out of anything. (See all the selfTK decks that had to get banned)
A few changes could be:
-Let people earn gems from the casual room.
-Move gem rewards out of ranking up. Put them in in daily missions. Ranking up should be it's own reward.
-No missions for simply playing duels. Change that to winning duels, but lower the number of games you have to win. (i.e. 10 wins instead of 30 games played)
This rewards you for playing and rewards you more for winning.
Id be playing a lot more master duel if they had this feature.
eww no thanks
@@TraaaaaasshBooooaaaatttt Which is entirely fixable with a limited card pool. Design packs MEANT to be drafted, and it'll be fine.

all dailys and lifetime challanges should be able to be done in Solo and duel with friends. so no pain when you trying to clear and they one turn you or negate your cards stopping you doing it and end up unable to even do one challange or dailys >< for HOURS
I don't really have this problem, I can clear most missions pretty quickly. It's only the "Destroy 5 cards" and "Activate 2 Traps" mission that I usually have a problem with.
While the imperm column changes are helpful for beginners. It also makes things even funnier if the opponent activates their spell card on the imperm column despite the game showing you where it is.

in my humble opinion : i beg Konami to close this game, respectfully 🙂. The format is unplayble and unenjoyable to an extend since day 1... So... Yeah 😮💨
Great video btw!
As a casual i enjoy the game, i usually play around 4-5 duels a day.
I use a numeron winged dragon of Ra deck that teamsamurai made and it's competitive enough to win against good decks.
I like master duel but there’s a few problems that I don’t like
Problem 1: there some cards in master duel that I don’t see myself using at all and I can’t delete them to get more sr
Problem 2: the timer I think the timer needs to be more shorter.
Problem 3: is combos there are players that do crazy card combos. and I’m just sitting there and watching them play cards or watch RUclips videos
“How to make master duel perfect”
Step 1: Add tag duels
Step 2: add daily challenges for Casual matches
Step 3: Add Side Decks
Step 4: Add fire warrior, equip, infernoble, and Mikanko support cards.
Step 5: profit
Step 6: there is no step 6 it’s already perfect 😎
Stopped playing because some decks i wanted to play had no secret packs so crafting was annoying.
I agree with a lot of what you said especially about the TCG stuff. As a casual who just likes to play Master Duel I can’t see myself actually going into a card shop and trying to navigate through the million things that are happening card by card. It just seems like a lot and i’m just not that invested in it.
If they want the game to influence card sales then their needs to be a way to Scan you're cards in, and those are what you're allowed to use
@@thejworks07 That would be a creative way to get people over.
Paul Team aps here from TCG land is "Ok" with flawed card design that is Maxx C. He's certainly in the mental minority for casuals
ngl as f2p player and not playing very often too, It's the good things about Maxx c isn't banned. but like after I have more tech cards... yeah.. I hope it got banned to.
Yes but realize that in every other 🎮 video game of Yugioh Maxx C has been banned. && for good reason,, it's a flawed card design. Check out Legacy of the Duelist, ,World Championship,. Every YGO Video game.
One thing I wish they would start doing is to turn the expired selection packs into secret packs after they expire.
And even if not immediately, at least do it a month after the pack was over at least.
You know, sometimes I feel like the community doesn't even want new players.
part of any tcg is falling into someone's interaction. I can't count the number of times I've walked into someone's board wipe or instant in commander. the unknown keeps things fresh and interesting
if you don't want a dynamic game and only want strategy where you can have your hand held and see everything at all times, I have a game suggestion for you, it's just a small and relatively unknown game called chess
I really want the alternative formats to be available at times after the festivals too. Just to shake up the monotony of the game after so long
Wholly agreed. Let me queue into Xyz or Synchro festival at any time for a breath of fresh air, even if I don't get rewards for it.
Definately wish that we could complete dailies/quests in casual mode.

MD really helps in better understanding all the effects, combos, chains and triggers of a deck.
Thanks, I’m like new new and trying understand everything. I stopped playing yugioh in 2003-04
Try time lords with speedroid horse stilts, speedroid razorrang, rank 4 xyz monsters, and rank 10 xyz monsters. The combination feels nice imo
@@mcmisterhd1920pretty sure it only shows up when something is giving a new effect, not a trait, and Masquerena is the latter.
I would love it if...
Yu-Gi-Oh had a format option.
I love the synchro and xyz era format. If I can only play using those rules and card restrictions, that will bring me back to the game
Hell I stopped watching by Zexal so guess how I feel when I use a 2010s Hero deck vs Branded decks or Links lol
I absolutely love Master Duel because it allows me to create a bunch of decks I wouldn't be able to in TCG because of money.
I do wish they would give us Music Selection. Or at the very least, tie music with OUR field instead of the opponent. Most of my opponents play the Default field (I understand why).
Right, yeah. So many great tracks, yet you often only hear 1 or 2.
Yeah. All I want is to hear the blasting violins of Keycard Theme #7 while I build up my Albaz fusion-monster army.
And here I am playing Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution (what a mouthful of a name).
Yo I personallly feel like these guys are the best for yugioh advice I have been watching for a long time y’all are the best
When I valued Maxx c resolve than cryme is lose getting otk ed by swordsoul.
Yh like this is never mentioned in this maxx c defence takes. Completely game ending when that happens and you havent even played a single card
This is the problem when you don't look at it from all sides and instead only seeing how it benefits or putting yourself under the illusion that it's not that bad.
I consider myself to be part of the problem as I've graced Platinum 1 with my Bishbaalkin FTK's presence.
I mainly use master duel as a way to easily duel friends in other countries
There was a card that came out in master duel after it released a month before. A Master Duel streamer mentioned it as well
A reason for this, if I had to guess, was it'd be even less of a reason to play the physical game.
@@ZeothTheHedgehog well I’ve been waiting for that ninja support, do you know how long I’ve waited for that?
Glad to hear you're both having so much fun with the game. Master Duel really rocks!
There are unofficial simulators you can try this in.
Paul starts talking about Maxx C, insert Goblin (Hardleg) Joe's video about Maxx C,
Hey, first of all, I'd like to say : I agree on everything.
Omg, that shirt, Paul! I need to know where you got that 😱
The game is really great and I get that there are certain cards you can't dismantle, but when you got like 4+ and can't dismantle it when you only need a total of 3 of them for any of your decks anyway.
And that you can't use banned/forbidden cards in duels with friends in duel rooms
The only thing Maxx "C" keeps in check is creative deck building.
So as an example: Blue-Eyes White dragon 5 points
add 10 different support cards for the blue eyes, all Blue-Eyes cards are now +5 each.
A whole bunch of duplicates,
One of my pet peeves with Yugioh is that so many cards are so powerful and so generic.
As a monarch player it always cracks me up when someone does their Maxx C and its just a wasted card
Bruh same lol
Normal summon supremacy
Except a decent Monarch deck still has to special summon. That argument only works for floowanderezee, or stun.
Edea special summons squire so it's an upstart still.
Thank you for this! Hopped on the mobile MD, and played for a week straight after watching this. I love the Dragonmaids, never had a Maxx C problem I couldn't deal with using them, even though they are combo only!
Side question; are Amplifier discussion pieces being moved to the main channel permanently, or is this just for the current moment?
Right now I'm mostly doing them here because these are big community talk issues. But what do you think would be best?
Thanks for adding a link to the shirts man. I appreciate ya.
I love master duel a lot, but honestly i have more fun with duel links.
Duel links has more balance than master duel imo. duels feel more snappy and expedient. way more fun, and there is just more stuff to do outside pvp
@@Sigmaairav and you get to play as the characters.
Players who wins multiple games: doesn't complain
Players who lose 1 game: f**ken stupid a** game, this is BS, imma go rage!!!
Thing is we've had Maxx C for a year and a half I'm pretty sure by now it's lost its luster.
Honestly, you did point out all of my concerns with current YGO. AS someone who stopped playing when Fusion was the big thing with E HERO decks, coming back and learning about Synchro and XYZ was annoying, but I did it, and now Pendulum and Cyberse Summoning just legitimately hurts my head. I've played through the ranks, gotten to High Gold/Low Diamond, and then it's the same 3 or 4 decks every time, and I don't want to play a Meta deck. I find those boring and dull, so I like playing weird things. Toons are my favorite archetype, but again, they have no place in modern YGO, and that makes me sad ; ;
If you like fusion monsters, I'd recommend the Branded deck. It's relatively simple, and pretty powerful.
The problem you have by making more formats available is shallowing the player pool unless you queue for multiple formats at the same time and select the deck you want to use before the duel begins.
Can we talk about how fresh that pokedog button up is?! Clean af my guy
But on the subject of MD all I want is to be able to dismantle legacy cards, especially for the FTP folks
They need a TCG mode, an OCG mode, a way to play with cards without spending thousands of dollars, maybe not demand so much of your time on quests. And I'd still love a format selector, play Goat format, Teledad, Synchro launch etc
The game doesn’t demand a lot of your time on quests…at all.
@@arrownoir those festivals and events sure as hell do
Yoooo, you have a Witchcrafter deck? Awesome, man. I have a hybrid deck of Fortune Lady and Witchcrafter that I like using from time to time. Man, I miss playing Master Duel. I moved into a new place, and the internet is pure garbage. I literally can't finish a single duel without having a connection failure. Nexus is my home now, but it just isn't the same.
HardlegJoe made a fantastic video about his reasons for why Maxx'C NEEDS to be banned. Sorry, but the roach needs to die for the good of the game.
The blue cards are called link summons :)
@@Vinnus0824 ahh see lol I already forgot what they’re called. And how do you summon them? I need link monsters?
I managed to get 3 new Decks, but they'll never be as good as my other Decks
Half the video is spent talking about dealing with one card, yet that card is fine...?
That could work for balancing games for newer players. It could also create a new meta for lower power level cards that are just as toxic.
I feel like a big question the company is missing. What demographic does master dual appeal to?
sure not to classic yugioh players
For sure not old school players lol
Nothing is worse than facing down a full Tear or Branded board, just to get Maxx C’d on top of that
If they did that it should be unbanned in the tcg too.
Story mode. Something like in duel links.
Tag team 2V2 rank.
Farming gems in this two mentioned ideas.
