You should, just for yourself, check out the original Goner video....it’s like 2 minutes....it’s kinda an prelude to the Blurryface Goner.✌️😊

Know also the original is 2013, but Tyler felt it wasn't finished in this form. Goner from Blurryface album is 2015.

So simple yet so powerful. I love how vulnerable and genuine Tyler is.

I believe that the song is a wish or a prayer to God for help. Some think it could be asking us fans for help. Or any other way we choose to take it. Great reaction. The look on your face at the end is what we all look like at the end. You did a great job figuring through it all. The live versions show the emotion he feels when singing it. The official videos are cool and helpful and fun but the live versions show the rawness that you lose with the official videos. Do any videos from the fox theater or the live room or UG studios. Tyler by himself is in the BBC1 and Brooklyn sessions. The Mutemath sessions are TOP with the band Mutemath, whom they toured with. They combined to make different versions of their own songs that are pretty awesome. I'd have to say the Brooklyn sessions are my favorite (the Hype- Berlin is too). But if you do any of the sessions (BBC1, Brooklyn, Mutemsth) try to do the original version first to see the difference. They are fantastic performers and musicians. So much music to check out!
PS Did you do the trilogy that comes after Heavydirtysoul yet? Jumpsuit, Nico and the Niners and Levitate?) If not, you should. I tried to check but my search was weird. I am going to check again.

Hi Charlie! Some trivia for you (and perhaps a video request or two)! You mentioned the Trees video you reacted to. This is from that same performance. Goner was essentially the last song of the set, with Trees being their "we don't need to walk off-stage to play our finale," as they have ended almost every show with Trees almost from the beginning.
You mentioned the lights/birds. I believe this entire concert was filmed to be broadcast. I don't know if you picked up on it, but they essentially ran their lighting effect with the birds through the broadcaster's board at one point - causing them to not just be on the LCD screens on stage, but also in front of them, which only the television viewers would have seen. Also, I am not sure of the timing with regard to this particular show, but in one of their tour diaries for The Emotional Roadshow (for the Blurryface LP), a representative of the company which did the lighting design was interviewed. Talking about working closely with the guys. They don't discuss specific meanings as much as making the imagery suit the song.
I have three requests for you to consider. Each are live, per se, with one being in-concert, one in-studio, and the last an awesome, live in-studio collab. IMHO, the first two are the definitive performances of each song. The first (concert) is for the Forest - the performance is circa 2012. He gives everything, and quite literally leaves it all lying on the stage. That link is here: ruclips.net/video/RM_OMmWyBn0/видео.html. The second is for Migraine (in the Live Room), which is probably one of my two favorite songs by the guys, the other being whichever song is currently playing! LOL, They actually did several songs in this session, each of which I think you would enjoy. There is an official video. However, that video is probably the only thing that they have ever put out that I do not like. Not so much because it is bad, but to me, it is the only thing they have ever done that is so much the same as what every other band does for a music video when they don't have an idea. It is simply set to the official audio track. Here is the link for the Live Room: ruclips.net/video/W29uD5Gf5Fc/видео.html (Edit: I just saw that you reacted to the official Migraine video - now I really hope you'll react to this one!)
Finally, PLEASE consider reacting to The Mutemath Sessions (in one sitting)! It is five songs, approximately 25 minutes long. In this one case, you should ABSOLUTELY listen to the originals first because you will appreciate the performances so much more realizing how they rethought their material. Mutemath toured with them on the first leg of their Emotional Roadshow tour (Blurryface LP). You have already reacted to two of the songs, Lane Boy and HeavyDirtySoul, which leaves Ride, Heathens, and Tear in My Heart. I PROMISE you that hearing the originals first will make these reworked versions more enjoyable! That link is here: ruclips.net/video/JfEFq_NRZu4/видео.html
Otherwise, sorry for the long post. With any other band, I would simply type a song title and be done with it. With Josh and Tyler, I believe with all my heart that there is something to be gained by putting some real thought into how and what you choose to react to! Have an awesome day! Cheers!

greattt song, probably my favorite of theirs

This is one of my favorite performances of theirs - this is the last song in blurryface so it's kind of like him reaching out for help to friends/fans/family/God (however you take it) to beat Blurryface and not being those negative thoughts and insecurities
another live performance to check out would be Holding On To You (Live from Fox Theater) - the music video for this song is pretty good as well
Ride and Stressed Out are probably their two most popular songs that you should check out at some point as well
Neon Gravestones is another heavy song - no music video, but there are lyric videos out for it

Holding on to you (fox theatre) is excellent, but so is the Serius XM one. I love the intro where he talks about background to the song and where he was at emotionally why writing this song. Maybe a double reaction? Fox and Sirius?

This is where Chlorine comes in, the fight between the cleansing proprietors and the poisonous properties of songwriting. How writing about your pain can help but also cause harm if done too much. How to balance it and still help your fans.
Song to listen to the trench trilogy in order Jumpsuit ,Nico and the niners, Levitate.Guns for hands, Migraine,Screens,Truce.

And you know about alter ego Blurryface that he struggles with. Important to know for songs from that album. He's asking for help to fight that off. ((Got 2 faces Blurry the one I'm not.. i need your help to take him out)). I don't who he's talking to- fans God friends but commenters will tell you. I personally think it's God he's asking for help from, but suppose it could be friends or fans.

Tyler writes all the lyrics. They are always very personal.
Josh has talked about how he learned to play drums on his own (no formal training), and how powerful it was when he realized he could communicate emotion through drums. This is evident in many songs. It's a wonderful partnership.
