Wonderful teacher. Wonderful dog. I love the way you cover the canvas, sort of easing into the picture. (Am going to try that palette.) Everything past that rough beginning is just refinement. And what a finished product. Very masculine treatment. Bravo.
Great atmosphere In this one, Been watching snippets of this one during the week. Love the coast there Andrew. France looks so tempting for me if I lived there. I'd go over and paint there for sure. Also The Highlands looks nice too for painting. Happy painting Andrew 🎨👍
Thank you Tez I have painted in Brittany, France many times but not in Scotland- yet! So much to paint on my doorstep it’s hard to tear myself away from Cornwall ! Happy painting to you 👍🏻🎨
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt Yes that's right, Australia goes forever n ever only NZ is our closest neighbour's. Love to paint there one day. Happy painting 🎨👍
Just to say I have received your book , and it’s wonderful! Who would have thought there could be so much joy looking at multiple paintings of the same view over many many months, everyone is different , so very interesting, thank you
I really enjoyed that one. What a beautiful evening with an amazing sunset. I have never heard of the Zorn palette but you managed to produce a really good variety of colour with just those four. I guess it makes everything really cohesive. Love the composition too, the fishermen really finish it off. Thanks for sharing your lovely work. Happy birthday to Basil, he’s such a lovely dog.
Hello Andrew. I would like to know how limiting you found the Zorn palette for this type of painting? Your end result was lovely with the fractured grays and muted tones, but I’m not sure I could have resisted breaking out at least an ultramarine! Also, I am experimenting with the following limited palette for landscapes: Tit. White, yellow cad light, raw umber, perm alizarin crimson, Prussian blue, and burnt umber as suggested by John Macdonald. Any thoughts on other limited palettes to try for landscapes-more specifically, skyscapes? Thank you for the lovely calm video- much appreciated. Rhonda
Thank you very much Ronda. I found the palette difficult at the beginning of the painting but then once I was used to it I loved it! It was very refreshing to only have 3 colours plus white. It made for a fun experience. I think any limited palette consisting of the primaries would be worth trying for fun. I strangled my palette a few years ago by only having cool versions of the primary colours - Alizarin Crimson, Lemon Yellow and Ultramarine Blue and white. I only painted with that for a year and it taught me a lot. Take care - Andrew
Hi Andrew. I really enjoy watching your plein air sessions . This one in particular using the Zorn palette was very impressive. Is there any way to increase the volume when you record/film? Your insights as you work are very informative but even with my volume at top end, I'm having trouble hearing you.
Hi Jane Thank you for your kind comments. The sound is always a problem for me. It’s usually too windy where I paint or I don’t speak loudly enough! I may invest in a decent sound recording device and wear a mic 🎙 I like to leave the natural sound of nature to come through as much as possible Best wishes Andrew
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt Hi again Andrew. Oops... Didn't mean to offend. I agree - the sounds of the Cornwall coast are amazing. Don't change a thing. Continued success in your work.
@@janeperry6947 no offense taken Jane - it is something I have been thinking about for a while as the sound is very important. Thanks for your valuable feedback Best wishes - Andrew

Thank you Vincent - I love to start roughly or else I get too tight and I want to try and keep some energy in the brush strokes. All the best

Unfortunately the audio volume on these posts is very low
Unfortunately it was before I had a mic 🎤 and began to understand video editing a little more 👍🏻
