I love Kelleher, but no way he's in front of Alisson. Alisson before injury was having a fantastic season, he's been consistent for many years, has a stronger voice with the defence, gets an assist here and there and is the best in the world in 1vs1 situations. So no Kelleher shouldn't take no1 spot.
Everyone seems to forget the amount of injuries Liverpool had last season. Remember the lineup for the Carabao Cup Final? And how many league games where we had 4/5 youth team players?
personally i think he's every bit as good as Alisson. my only criticism is he may not be as vocal as the Brazilian. but Kelleher is so cool, he sometimes looks bored.
Alison's distribution is far better especially those long passes to Salah, Diaz. Kelleher finds his target about 35% of the time while Alison about 70% of the time. That's a big difference. That means we don't lose the ball as much with Alison. No doubt Slot would prefer that and Alison comes back in as soon as he's fit
No doubt Liverpool have best goalkeepers options than any team in world football at moment. Alisson, Kelleher, Jaros & loan out star in the making Mamadasvili not a bad options for one spot.
Personally I think Allison has the bigger presence and profile to Kelleher but they are pretty much equal on shot stopping. I would say Kelleher is better at penalties but I'd still choose Allison if both are fit. I'm a liverpool fan and after how good Kelleher has shown he can be, I would not begrudge him moving to become a first team goalkeeper elsewhere. He's too good at this point to be a backup and he probably knows that now.
Do these two not remember what happened last season. Liverpool were in the running for the league up until the last few months, where injuries and fatigue caught up with them. Slot has also recently said that when Alisson is fit, he’s back in the team.
Unfortunately alisson has become injury prone. Best thing about kelleher form is that alisson does not have to be rushed back into the team. But once alisson is fully fit he offers more than kelleher particularly on the passing side.
I heard Tony say this live on air this morning and after initially rejecting his comments I did reconsider. Alisson is becoming increasingly injury prone and Kelleher is younger and will improve still further.
Think Alisson will come back in once fully fit. The real battle will be between Mamardashvili and Kelleher for the 1 spot, should Alisson leave in the summer.
Mamardashvilli was bought specifically because Liverpool knew that Kelleher wants to leave to be number one somewhere, with likely agreement he could go next summer.
@rugbyanalyst1 alisson has come out quite publicly saying he has no interest of leaving liverpool, his wife and kids are very settled in liverpool and that plays a big part for him
Alison is still, possibly the best GK in the world on his day but kelleher should keep his place. He's been brilliant for us and it's down to Alison to earn his place in the first eleven.
Kelleher has improved massively this season, he has always been good but this season you can see the influence that Allison has had on him. IMO he deserves to keep it and Ally needs to earn it back when he is fit.
I think people are really underestimating how hard it is to find a reliable ball playing goalkeeper who also makes big shot stops AND one on one saves. Kelleher has proven over the past three years he has done that and is improving every game. Look at the rest of the big teams struggling when trying to replace GK’s. Absolutely insane to let a 24 year old Kelleher go and get a new keeper in when Alison is injury prone and no matter how good Mamardashvili was in the Euros, it’s still a gamble and no one would be shocked if he struggled in the Prem. we KNOW Kelleher can.
Couple things: 1. We're not letting him go. He wants to leave. BIG difference. 2. He's practically 26 (will be next week) Though this doesn't count for a goalkeeper, he's no longer seen as a 'young player' (from a transfer/squad quota standpoint) so I understand why he sees this as a defining time in his career. I'm wishing him all the best but he actually doesn't need it as he's the type of player that can *easily* come back to haunt us.
@ unfortunately, we let him go the minute we spent £30 million on the Valencia keeper. No one is deluded enough to think Mamardashvili isn’t coming in to take over from Alison either next season after we sell Alison, or the next season after his contract expires. We had a ready made solution in Kelleher. They have gambled with Mamardashvili and I don’t agree with it if I’m honest. We haven’t missed Alison when Kelleher is in goal, (which has been a lot over the past couple of years) and we say Alison is the best in the world……so what does that tell you about Kelleher!!!!
Um, no he shouldn’t. He’s amazing and I love him but Ali is literally best in the world. Kelleher should go to a top top club though, he’s amazing and has been for several years
As a Liverpool fan of 45 years , Mr Cascarino it's just your opinion . Nothing else, Becker is our No.1 & Kelleher is our our No.2. Talk Sport losing it's mantle?
I might be wrong but I feel like Kelleher is more comfortable with the ball at his feet (maybe not more accurate, but he rarely makes a wayward pass which puts Liverpool under pressure) and saving spot kicks than Ali.
Kheller has been fantastic more than fantastic brilliant but Ali is something very special and a leader on the field. He does everything kheller does and more
Kelleher made at least 2 great saves the last day out that made the difference on the day. I'd agree with Tony. I'd have thought you don't drop him with form like that. But at the end of the day, I am not the head coach or manager... it's Slots call
Liverpool had some great goal keepers in the club history like Clemence, Grobbelaar, Dudek and a not so good one that gifted 2 goals to Real Madrid in the European Champions league cup final. Now Liverpool is gifted with 2 good goal keepers and another one joining next year. Not many football club has the luxury of having selection headache of who should be number 1 and number 2.
The biggest credit to Kelleher is that anyone saying Kelleher should remain No. 1 even after Alisson is back fit won't sound like a crazy person. 2 seasons ago, there's no way anyone of us would ever contemplate any player dislodging Alisson after a couple of poor performances. If he comes back and puts in a couple of stinkers, you best believe there'll be sections of the fanbase clamoring for Kelleher to play instead. And to even be competitive to who I consider to be the best keeper in the world, that's quite an achievement for Kelleher.
2 seasons ago I would’ve laughed if you suggested this. Now tho, I can’t lie I actually hear this lol, yes alisson is obvs the better overall keeper but his fitness has been an issue and kelleher is a more than capable replacement, If he was to get a number 1 spot for a while I genuinely wouldn’t mind because he deserves it.

What Kelleher must do is use this time to drive his stock up now and find a team in the top half(Chelsea). Liverpool didnt sign Mamadashvili to deputise forever. He's coming to take over from Alison
Kellher is def an exceptional keeper, and it def boggles my mind that no one was in for him in the summer. one of the top 5 keepers in the PL. but as good as he is, he's not better than Alisson who's distribution and shot stopping is second to none. Tony is a bit nonsensical w/ his arguments. he's so desperate for Kellher to be starter he's making things up. Alisson is injury prone, but he's never dropped in quality when being out and coming back in. where the argument for Kellher is strongest is in how injury prone Alisson is. like I just don't understand how a keeper gets injured as much as he does. LFC have been really fortunate to always have a top top back-up. but if Kellher departs (and rightly so if he does), that does leave us exposed when Alisson inevitably gets injured again.
Allison is in top 3 goalies to play in the premier league. Kelleher is a fantastic no 2 but you can’t drop a guy who is and was crucial to Liverpools success in years by. Talksport have some unbelievable uneducated opinions

@saintmte5076 The fact he's been mentored by the best goalkeeper in the world is a single and only point in its own right. 😏 Everything else are side points...
I don't think he's as good as Alisson, but it's all in fixable and minor areas (and I wouldn't be surprised at all if a statistician told me otherwise), but he certainly can be, and it is clear - to me at least - that Alisson is getting to the point in his career where he's struggling to stay fit. What I'd be saying to him is that aside from when Alisson isn't fit he gets every game that isn't EPL or UCL, and I'd offer up some EPL/UCL games even when he is fit (you're going to want to rotate Alisson regardless), and I'd offer him a new contract that ties him in for a couple of years and recognizes his contribution - and I'd have a proper discussion about his future. I think Liverpool are well covered for goalkeepers even if both Alisson and Kelleher leave, and I'm no goalkeeping expert - but from what I know and what I've seen there should be at least a path to him being the number 1, maybe within 18 months, because I'd be surprised if Alisson gets a new contract and maybe Liverpool might attempt to get some money for him by releasing him in the summer next year..
Please don't make your judgement on our keepers, we know what we doing. I'll rather make a competition for top spot as my #1 Keeper. It was still internal, you brought your own views.......Why we debating last line of defense at this stage? You want one of our keeper....it comes at a price.
This is just silly. Kelleher is an excellent goalkeeper and has done a superb job, but Alisson is our number 1 and one if the best GK’s in world football. Ofcourse he will be back in the side.
It's an embarrassment of riches for Liverpool. If Kelleher goes, the asking price has to be £50million plus. If Kelleher stays, unlikely, then new boy 'villi needs to understand his place & that's third choice.
Alli is the best keeper in the world. He will slot back in when ready. Kelleher is a great back up just like, Tsimikas and Connor. We wouldn’t suggest those two replacing Robertson or Trent if those two picked up an injury and were back fit, so why does Kelleher remain? It’s just a lazy pundit talking point.
Cascurino talking about allison like its some raya ramsdale comparison hahahahaha allison is levels above kelleher who i love by the way but come on kelleher would tell you himself its not even close

@karlmatuke5229 yup Kelleher is a liability when passing. Makes me nervous every time. Ali is better at positioning and 1x1 and box command.
If Liverpool do decide to sell Kelleher then they should demand a big fee for him. Definitely an elite keeper and he is still young.

Absolutely not! This guy, if he were the manager, would be a disaster; Alisson is the starting keeper.
Please don't make your judgement on our keepers, we know what we doing. I'll rather make a competition for top spot as my #1 Keeper. It was still internal, you brought your own views.......Why we debating last line of defense at this stage? You want one of our keeper....it comes at a price.
LMAO Ali is coming straight back in. They said the same for Konate when Quansah and Bradley with Trent. Ali is easily back in, stop the nonsense.
This is just silly. Kelleher is an excellent goalkeeper and has done a superb job, but Alisson is our number 1 and one if the best GK’s in world football. Ofcourse he will be back in the side.
When Alisson came back at the end of last season we went shite
It's an embarrassment of riches for Liverpool. If Kelleher goes, the asking price has to be £50million plus. If Kelleher stays, unlikely, then new boy 'villi needs to understand his place & that's third choice.
Alli is the best keeper in the world. He will slot back in when ready. Kelleher is a great back up just like, Tsimikas and Connor. We wouldn’t suggest those two replacing Robertson or Trent if those two picked up an injury and were back fit, so why does Kelleher remain? It’s just a lazy pundit talking point.
Football analysts have the easiest job, always talking without thinking of the all picture.
ALISON KEEPS HIS NUMBER 1 SPOT
Want 50 mil for this goalkeeper
Chill out mate! Even Caoimhin knows Alison is better than him.
Bench one of the greatest ever gks Jesus Christ he gets paid for saying that aswell
He’s genuinely insane and Forrest refused to sign him for 20m 😂 he’s won 2/3 trophies
World class ...mufc fan
I don't see Kelleher staying. He will leave
Cascurino talking about allison like its some raya ramsdale comparison hahahahaha allison is levels above kelleher who i love by the way but come on kelleher would tell you himself its not even close
Could've swore Kelleher just turned 26.
Hmm 🤔
Let me check...
I'm pretty spot on, he turns 26 next week Sat.
EDIT: Happy early Birthday Caoimhin!
