I hope Sony isn't going to use a paid subscription as a substitute for actual backwards compatibility. It's weird if they put that and demos behind a paywall, when they should be free.
Agreed, but I really think they will though. If you need to pay monthly for demos you are definitely going to have to pay monthly for backwards compatibility/access to older games. Backwards compatibility is the most requested feature so you know they are going to make you pay for something you want that badly.

I haven't had any stutter issues yet in my time with Elden Ring, and have pretty much mostly positive things to say about both games, but I'm not going to lie and say I haven't had my issues with Horizon just because it's a 1st party game that would be playing favoritism and somewhat hypocritical, We all really enjoy Horizon but something about Elden has captivated a good-sized portion of the gaming community. We have gushed over Horizon for 3 or 4 episodes, and now that we have put in much more time to the games we noticed things that did or didn't work for us. We still love the game and are looking forward to the next one whether or not the feedback we give (which has been echoed by others in the community) is heard by the devs or not its our opinions on the game and everyone is free to play and make their own as well.
Been messing around with both Game Pass and Playstation Now over the last month. PS Now needs to get exponentially better in order to be just viable. The lag, studder and pixelated quality of the streams make it basically unplayable; at least where I live. Whereas Game Pass always comes out smooth about 95% of the time. Hardly any complaints as far as Game Pass goes.
I think the big difference is that PS now has lots of titles that require streaming them vs Gamepass allowing you to download basically everything unless it's a cloud version streamed to like PC. But yeah totally agree that it needs a big shakeup to be worth our time and money.
@@NickBLeaveIt it depends they could also be talking compared to streaming stuff from GP, it's hard to say not enough info in the original comment. Also please be respectful in our comments.
@@NickBLeaveIt Woah woah you're gonna break a leg jumping to conclusions like that. I'm streaming on both services and Game Pass is by far the more stable platform with far less lag. I'm also using them on the exact same network I have at home. This isn't even me Xbox fan-boying out. I don't even own an Xbox, I strictly stream games to my phone with Game Pass.
@@pressxtojason My bad dude; in that case the comparison is between XCloud and PS Now, in which case I have every reason to believe XCloud is better at streaming; the confusing nomenclature is gonna be the death of all of us.
It depends sometimes, I generally prefer voice-acted protagonists over silent ones, but sometimes being silent allows you to be immersed in the character itself a bit more, especially if a voiced character goes out of character for what you would have preferred or thought they were going to do. Each way has its benefits and drawbacks and I think it just comes down to personal preference, I do however want all my npcs with voice acting because especially in RPG's there is so many great moments that can come to life with a great voice actor in the role.
So no shot this thing is even competitive against Gamepass, but I’m excited for it, I just can’t imagine an offering that would get me to pay more than $60 a year. Get your hopes low folks, then you can never get disappointed
Yeah. If it replaces ps+...you can get a year of ps+ for like 35 bucks on cdkeys. Have paid 30-32 dollars each of the past 4 years. So the 36 is a guess. Atleast for 2 more months. So 60 is beyond comprehension. If they add months to poplars and cheezit boxes I am here for it though.
I miss PlayStation shows that are passionate about PlayStation rather than, “I want to say that I really do like, love, and or appreciate PlayStation/game.. buutttttt…” When ten out of ten topics come with a “buuttttt..”, is it really a fancast still?
I think Sparticus will be successful for Sony. While it doesn't look like it will be as good as Gamepass (day and date firstparty), there are enough players who only own one console or other fans that just love Sony and will support them. I own both PS5 and Series X; I prefer the Series X due to things like Quick Resume and FPS Boost. But Playstation has a great petigree of first party games that Xbox is trying to emulate. Glad to see Sony adapt! I probably won't go for the tier 3 service though.
Sony need to do something high profile with their subscription service. So just merging PS Plus and PS Now is sensible but not very interesting. I think they will need to add significant value to their PSP, PS1 and PS2 game offerings. So they need to offer save states, rewind, cheat modes, visual filters/upscaling or AI visual upscaling. I think they will offer simple visual upscaling or AI upscaling on their PS3 titles too. These quality of life features are common in modern emulators. Trophy support on these old games would also be really good. Sony are all about getting as much money from their fans as possible so they are not going to offer 1st party games for free on Spartacus. Sony don't need to "buy back" their players like xbox do. I think Sony will rely on Indie developers who need publicity/promoting to offer their new games on day one on Spartacus. Sony's strength is in their amazing back catalogue of games. With AI visual upscaling the back catalogue of PS2 games could be a really huge selling point for Spartacus. Personally I bought a number of the PS2 games that were re-released on PS4 with trophies. Trophies on my favourite old games would definitely get me subscribing and trophy hunting.
Spartacus the way it's leaked doesn't sound like anything new... So you either get - PS Plus as it is now - both PS Plus and Now - demos on top of that I'll just stay on PS Plus, so nothing new and interesting for me...
If they make a legend of dragoon remaster, or remake that I get the privilege to pay full price for I'll give them my monies for the next 10 years no questions asked.
What's Jada talking about???? She's happy to pay to gain access to digital PS3 titles she's has already paid for and owns????? Awful suggestion. If BC becomes a reality, games you own should not be behind a pay wall.
I'm unsure of the updated subscription service for PS. I'll wait and see. The updates for RE2 & 3 is awesome news. Because I just bought both RaccoonCity Edition. I hope this is the next step along with other things for RE4.
Spartacus sounds like ea access, if I recall it had a demo service but was 8-10hrs (but limited campaign for games like battlefield 1) and then big discount, and after 12 months the game was free, no guessing when it was, in a yr the game is free. All of this was a years subscription, and I think it was cheaper than even the base offer of Spartacus. I will be waiting on this before I assume anything, but so far this isn’t a purchase, not yet anyway, and hopefully Sony will be more transparent closer to the time.
P.s. Let Jada Griffin know that I found her brains 🧠 if she’s still looking for them. Otherwise I loved 🥰 the stream and Jonathon is doing a wonderful job!
I know I’m in the minority but all these services just don’t interest me. I only have Plus for the cloud saves honestly. I’ve never downloaded one game ever from it in years. I buy a few games a year and that’s all I have time for. A catalog of even more is just more I won’t play and I think a lot of gamers won’t either but they’ll be paying it.
If Sony is going to charge me more to let me play old games it is not worth it to me. I pay for PS Plus to play online, etc... i don't have PS Now and don't want to if the offer remains the same.
As a solution to giving Playstation more options? It's good. As a competitor to Xbox's Gamepass? Not even close. The value in Gamepass smokes this, if the rumors match reality.
Please no! If I already purchased games on past consoles I should not! Not! Have to buy a subscription to play them on the successor, I bought it, if it can be played on current consoles then I should get it. There is no legal reason they have to tell me no if it’s backwards compatible. An If PlayStation wants to make a membership successor they need to change a few things: -Free membership:anything you purchased on psp, ps3, ps4 will all be free to play on ps5 as you paid for those games. At least main party games (got of war, jak and daxster, Spyro, crash, medi evil, ape escape, ect.). As well all free to play games are free multiplayer. -Base model:paid multiplayer, 3 free games (1 current, 1backwards compatible), and deals for the PlayStation store -“Game pass”:all first party from backwards compatible and current (3-6 months old games), all exclusives to PlayStation consoles, select indie and third party partnerships added to the list monthly, have a min of 3-4 month stay time at least, and 1 free current or backwards compatibility game. -Platinum pass:Basic and “game pass” together, in addition to greater deals on multiplayer PlayStation store, and 1 additional current game(so total games you get for free is 2 current, 1 current/backwards compat, and 1 backwards compat) An many may say “but that’s a lot of free games” and all I really have to say is look at their backwards compatible library they could reach from! So many hits! So long as Sony makes their backwards compatibility team bigger and they have the funding and time, they have so many games!
I don’t know until I see it ultimate game pass is worth it I didn’t say it was worth it until I got it but the PS Now that’s been here since 2013 that costed $99 a year wasn’t worth it ultimate game pass doesn’t just give you first party games it gives you Gold EA Access it gives you quests to complete for points you can change to money with game pass alone it’s not worth to subscribe every month you subscribe when they add games your interested in playing big first party games to try them that I can’t say for PS Now cause they don’t have games I want to try
Thing is I got ps now for a year for £50, so I don’t see the value in this if they are just going to bolt these together. Sounds a bit of a piss take in comparison to game pass, it will backfire if they try I think.
Tom and Lucy's opinion on Horizon Forbidden West...WTF??????? She prefers a game in a fantasy world but with a stupid stamina bar for all moves compared to the Perfection of Horizon! Tom, I don't understand how he played without knowing the Zero Dawn story, it's so much a continuation of the game, so much références!!!
It's a fair opinion and they aren't alone in that, I think Elden Ring does a better job of creating curiosity and leading you minimally to discover that, whereas Horizon tells you hey there this really cool thing over here and when you reach it, it just nails the execution, payoff and delivers even better on this cool area you heard a rumor about, and many of the areas are just jaw-droppingly gorgeous at times. It's two different design styles and each will certainly attract different portions of the audience. As for the going in blind to a sequel, I do my best to play chronologically because that's just my personality and what I enjoy, but I understand jumping into HFW blind, the first game is a time commitment and there are so many games to play, that's it's nearly impossible to play every new release and the previous game in the series for our line of work. Also, it's good to help determine how well the developers onboard other people who never played the first one.
No, absolutely not it’s completely tone deaf to not have a subscription service and not offer Spider-Man 2 or Wolverine day 1 , my thoughts are instead of using the price keep it the same and just offer game pass on the PlayStation otherwise you are not going to compete in the long run
if its like gamepass where they charge 160 a year for 90% old stuff you can easily buy in cex for single figures then no . I hate this digital only fad tbh xbox series s and ps5 digital belong in a bomb fire .
I don't think there's any chance they put big exclusives on the service day 1 as they don't need to given how well Sony's first party games sell. When you have first party exclusives selling 20m copies over its lifetime as Horizon recently did & I think spiderman sold 8m over its first year or something why would you put them on a subscription day 1. And if the XB1 had been more competitive with the PS4 and if Microsoft had been doing the same sort of sales figures for its first party exclusives i doubt game pass would exist in the form it does. I think i also saw not long ago that game pass still isn't making Microsoft a profit. They can probably be OK with that for a while as they have a lot of cash from elsewhere but in the longer term it needs to become profitable I'd think. Sony also likely couldn't deal with the lost revenue from game sales like Microsoft can.
if the new playstation subscription tries to be or beat gamepass its gonna be a disaster. Sony is just not in the right place to beat gamepass. it should offer playstation centric incentives to try. game trials, and "cloud saves" are so lame. they feel like things that I should already have and for free but they're not. so it makes me upset. a mix of Nintendo online with the virtual consoles to play old exclusives and a more expanded catalog style of essential games to play would feel good to pay for. I dont even want to pay for virtual console monthly I rather just buy them but it's better than what we have now. you cannot beat Netflix by being a shittier Netflix. netflix is shitty enough. you have to become Disney+ or HBO max: a specialized catalog with a bit of depth but going for a more niche market than an everyman market.
If it rolls out as mentioned. It’s not as good or competing with Xbox. Hope it’s better than what they mentioned. Not paying any more for old games, because I barely have time to play new ones. If I am going to pay more monthly then I want new games part of it.
"They aren't the biggest games in the world." Downplaying Gamepass.. 🤣🤣🤣 how about mention how xbox is putting all of their 1st party titles in gamepass and how Playstation won't do that?? 🤔🤔 weird..
We literally made the point that we don't think Playstation will put their games on the service day one because they like to tout sales numbers over the first weekend. There are lots of great games that come to Gamepass, but besides Halo and Forza its been mostly smaller titles, and older exclusives that have been in the market for years, I'm sure it will shake that opinion for most when games like Redfall, Starfield, TES6, and more start releasing on GP.

Two weeks ago we spent an hour and a half gushing about how much Mark, Jada, and I loved Horizon, the week before that we praised a PlayStation console exclusive indie (Sifu) and talked about our hype for another console exclusive coming up (Ghostwire). The week before that we talked about how Sony's Bungie buy was a smart step in their wider expansionary plans. There are endless examples of us cheering on moves and games by Sony, but we're not a Sony PR show - we analyze, praise, and criticize PlayStation at large. That has always been true of this show, and while fandoms may have changed with changing casts over time, that hasn't stopped being true, anbd we're not going to stop someone from being on the show just because they have a criticism of Sony. Caring about something MEANS you both praise what works and criticize what doesn't to hope it improves.
Horizon is boring. I bought it and was like really? Sure it looks good but that’s it. It’s so boring and slow and made badly as far as gameplay. Bow shot roll repeat…….it’s a okay game wrapped in hype.

Backwards compatibility would be wonderful. Without the monthly service.
You're comparing native downloading to streaming Einstein; not a fair comparison.
In the year 2022, I'll never understand thinking a silent protagonist is better in a AAA game
Sony exclusive demos and discounts. DLC. Early access. Free to play weekends. Tournaments. Trophy’s 🏆. There is a lot they can do with the service.
Technically just by combining now and ps plus @16 is saving you 4 dollars monthly
Anybody else notice the "Doom Returnal" goof?
What's the game shown around 14:00?
Shadow Warrior 3
If it’s the only way to play the biggest classic hit games of Playstation to play on current gen consoles then it’s worth every penny.
I miss PlayStation shows that are passionate about PlayStation rather than, “I want to say that I really do like, love, and or appreciate PlayStation/game.. buutttttt…” When ten out of ten topics come with a “buuttttt..”, is it really a fancast still?
To answer the header: I really hope so.
All I want is same-day-releases for their first party games...
Heck, I'll take post 3-6month releases.
@@LexVVTiS300 neither will crush the other. They both will be fine. Let’s stop the console war ridiculousness
@@LexVVTiS300 sony pony , sony is producing more ps4s with more trashstation piss poor games , gt7 87 vs forza 5 92
I completely agree, but I don’t see any scenario where we can play original PS1 & 2 games
Yaaay Lucy! Now where's Max and Brian? Are they alive?
Spartacus the way it's leaked doesn't sound like anything new...
So you either get
- PS Plus as it is now
- both PS Plus and Now
- demos on top of that
I'll just stay on PS Plus, so nothing new and interesting for me...
Peace ✌🏽 love ❤️ you guys!
P.s. Let Jada Griffin know that I found her brains 🧠 if she’s still looking for them. Otherwise I loved 🥰 the stream and Jonathon is doing a wonderful job!
I’m excited for project Spartacus, I can see Sony hopefully giving us annual subscription service fees as well as updating (PlayStation Collection).
Tom saying you can lose 3 hours of progress on a From game makes me think he has never played any of them for that long.
If they are taking steps of a service of what may become, the price must be below 10 usd
I'm in the same boat. I'll gladly pay to buy a few classic games I might want but I'm not subscribing to a service to play said games.
Yeah the "I don't feel represented" crap is annoying. It's a game, you don't need to see yourself in it.
Oooh Lucy's back!
Johnahan lucy brain and max during lockdown start of covid 2020 were epic podcast beyond really pulled it out the bag! Credit to them guys
Lucy hates Jada it's so obvious 🤦
Surprised to see two girls who are into Souls games and two guys who are not :D It's aligned with where I stand too, being a guy...
What happened to beyond?? It's been a couple years since I've watched this but it seems to be extremely low energy now....?
If Sony is going to charge me more to let me play old games it is not worth it to me. I pay for PS Plus to play online, etc... i don't have PS Now and don't want to if the offer remains the same.
Exactly. I can’t justify passing this when I know Game Pass offers more for less
10/month the cheapest tier 1??? Wtf that is 120 usd per year!!!! Ridiculous!!!! That's the amount of 1 year ultimate gamepass from 3rd party seller!
They talked more about the demos than the back catalogue... @_@
Welcome back Lucy❤️👏
They better offer a yearly discount or ps+ goes from 60 to 120 dollars a year
Lol am I hearing this right? Backwards compatibility is blocked behind a paywall?
As a solution to giving Playstation more options? It's good. As a competitor to Xbox's Gamepass? Not even close. The value in Gamepass smokes this, if the rumors match reality.
Have we figured out what the r stands for yet
As far as I'm concerned it's still just all rumors I won't believe anything till sony cone out and say something
Please no! If I already purchased games on past consoles I should not! Not! Have to buy a subscription to play them on the successor, I bought it, if it can be played on current consoles then I should get it. There is no legal reason they have to tell me no if it’s backwards compatible. An If PlayStation wants to make a membership successor they need to change a few things:
-Free membership:anything you purchased on psp, ps3, ps4 will all be free to play on ps5 as you paid for those games. At least main party games (got of war, jak and daxster, Spyro, crash, medi evil, ape escape, ect.). As well all free to play games are free multiplayer.
-Base model:paid multiplayer, 3 free games (1 current, 1backwards compatible), and deals for the PlayStation store
-“Game pass”:all first party from backwards compatible and current (3-6 months old games), all exclusives to PlayStation consoles, select indie and third party partnerships added to the list monthly, have a min of 3-4 month stay time at least, and 1 free current or backwards compatibility game.
-Platinum pass:Basic and “game pass” together, in addition to greater deals on multiplayer PlayStation store, and 1 additional current game(so total games you get for free is 2 current, 1 current/backwards compat, and 1 backwards compat)
An many may say “but that’s a lot of free games” and all I really have to say is look at their backwards compatible library they could reach from!
That would’ve been amazing to fight flying manatees in Demons Souls
Thing is I got ps now for a year for £50, so I don’t see the value in this if they are just going to bolt these together. Sounds a bit of a piss take in comparison to game pass, it will backfire if they try I think.
We definitely want more out of whatever this plan ends up being that's for sure.
Will only worth it if they bring all ps3 games as downloadable content , I cant believe Dead space is not playable on PS5 nor on PS4
No, absolutely not it’s completely tone deaf to not have a subscription service and not offer Spider-Man 2 or Wolverine day 1 , my thoughts are instead of using the price keep it the same and just offer game pass on the PlayStation otherwise you are not going to compete in the long run
Majority of the human race is Asian and yet it's hard to make an Asian looking character on most games. If anyone has a complaint, it's them.
if its like gamepass where they charge 160 a year for 90% old stuff you can easily buy in cex for single figures then no . I hate this digital only fad tbh xbox series s and ps5 digital belong in a bomb fire .
Half these games you can’t even see your character
Its weird to watch this now as I actually care what their saying since I got a ps5 🤪
Congratulations and welcome to the PS5 Squad!
Congrats on securing a PS5! Hope you enjoy it (and don't forget to play Astro's Playroom!)
Hard pass on Spartacus... same with Game Pass... not interested in promoting where these companies are heading.
Gamepass is superior, I'm paying plus and it just not justify the price for that service
If sony like to sell those first party games why they need a subscription like gamepass, Sony is so stingy
if the new playstation subscription tries to be or beat gamepass its gonna be a disaster.
Nope not a chance. Not with the value that Xbox GamePass has to offer.
Sacred Symbols!
The content don't convince me
Green lives matter 💚
If they don’t put Sony first party day one then why subscribe. Do better Sony.
Too expensive for Sony.
Nope!
Who cares what your person looks like just play the game🤣
I have so many questions, but I leave you with this #beyond two of sony playstation ip drop two weeks apart. It appears the way beyond is covering them seems like a flash in the pan. Like come on Horizons forbidden west #GT7 why so little fan service? This is beyond me. A playstation podcast seems more eager to discuss services in which 70% of consumers have little to no interest in. Please for the love of video games show some love to those prospective gamers I mention earlier. Have a great day 😀 😊
We've been talking about Horizon Forbidden West for the last month so definitely check out some of our past episodes if you missed them. As for GT7 none of us have had any playtime with GT yet. We will definitely have more discussions on GT7 and Ghostwire Tokyo as we get to access and play it, and can talk more beyond what little we've seen so far. Schedules don't always align for having certain guests on that are experts in various games, we are working to have Luke our car and racing game expert on the show to chat about GT7 so we have someone that can give you the most authentic and informative opinions on it. So hang in there we are working to make that happen for all our car enthusiasts in the audience. We will definitely talk more about games like Ghostwire Tokyo, God of War, and other big sony games as we get closer to their launch and we either get hands-on or get more information via trailers and state of plays.

I sorry I thought this was a Playstation channel. Not the bash on Playstation and praise Xbox game pass. Every week these guys who claim they aren't fans of either system. Won't let us rest without knocking everything Sony does. Aloy is annoying, I want game pass, give me more it's not enough over and over. Very disappointing 😞.
