Before 1989 sanctions does have effects on sanctioned nations. After the cold war ended after 1989 sanctions NO LONGER WORKED anymore, since you have many many new powerful players that have appeared on the worlds stage after the September 16, 2008's Collapse of Capitalism via the GLOBAL ECONOMIC & FINANCIAL CRISIS with a Made in the USA by Wall Street Label on it as well. This also helped DESTROYED the USA's credibility and prestige around the world as well. THIW's.

ASML is not the only company that make machine that make microchip. a dozen of company make those machine, half of them are japanese. this is why US is now roping in Japan. they discover the big hole in their understanding that ASML is the gatekeeper... they are not, they just have the highest ROI. if China does not care about ROI, they don't need ASML.

Is microchip and semiconductor two different thing?
Because isn't the key factor of US-China conflict is Taiwan and it's semiconductor company TSMC that hold a monopoly on semiconductor production?
This is actually the first time i heard about important the Netherland role in all of this and the first time i heard about ASML being the company that monopolise the microhip market. Because i thought you going to mention Taiwan and TSMC instead of Netherland and ASML.
