I actually got my grandad to put sixpence for me on Teamspirit earlier in the season when it got beat. I didn't back it in the grand national and could not understand how a horse could win the national after being beaten. I was eight at the time and used to watch the racing every Saturday with my grandad. Happy days.
Just watched Commanche Run's Leger win, blimey, that's what you call holding on gamely. Steve must have been shitting himself during that final furlong!
Open a dictionary and look up the term 'English Summer.' The definition will be: The time of year when Steve Mellish and Lydia Hislop present programmes from Sandown Park and the pair talk about 3YOs being coltish.'

I’d love to know what bookie was accepting bets back in 1984 on a 13/8 favourite sufficiently high that it bank rolled his career as a professional punter. I’m sure anyone who tries to get a decent bet on today would also love to know.
Love these interviews with proper punters 👍
Really like Steve - one of the good guys out there.
