In addition to Parkinson's disease, some patients have remarkable response to MAO-B inhibitors (either monotherapy or in conjunction with SSRIs) for depression. Some studies indicate higher levels of MAO-B in clinical depression, which may contribute to neurodegeneration and/or cognitive disturbances.
