Hi As a Bridlington town councillor, I wanted to personally thank you for your recent video about our town. I appreciate that you took the time to visit Bridlington and see it for yourselves, rather than relying on that Which magazine survey! I thought it very fair representation of our town . Your balanced approach provides a more nuanced view than the often controversial pre-summer holiday surveys we've become accustomed to. I wanted to let you know that many of us are working to bring decision-making about Bridlington back to our local community. Your video helps highlight both our challenges and potential, which is valuable as we progress with our efforts. Thank you again for your time and consideration in creating this video. Sincerely, Cllr Carlo Verda Bridlington Town Councillor
What the which survey does NOT tell you is what age group they surveyed? My guess its 70s plus. If u look at the resorts that have been voted among the best, they have less and less to offer the vistors other than beach and a few shops and are relatively very quiet. So this tells us the more facilities and attractions and popularity the resorts are , the more they get voted THE WORST...which ( pardon the pun) in turn ACTUALLY means they are the best !!!!!
Thats a very good point Ian, all the places, like Bridlington, which offer ample entertainment for families fare the worst on their survey. Come to think of it, who other than retirees has time to fill in a survey?
@@GENerationXplorers ....exactly. I have worked both in the travel industry and currently in market research and im telling you this is the reason. They are targeting only a specific age group to do their consumer surveys!!
Thank you so much Cllr Carlo Verda, this comment means the world to us, we really do feel that Bridlington should be positioned at the top of the scale for places to visit in Yorkshire as it has far more to offer families than anywhere else on that coastline. Bridlington attracts more and more tourists with every passing year which is testament to the hard work being done by yourself and others in the Council. We love visiting Bridlington and we are yet to find one person that has a bad word to say about the place.
Some people just need to get out of their bubbles and explore. looks like a great place to visit. Some great little shops to explore too and a market too! Seems like there is a good vibe in Bridlington. With plenty of attractions to see and do. Well you can squash the rumours now! Well done Jill and Nicholas. Hope you have a great weekend.
The problem with us Brits is that we are always pessimistic and self-deprecating. This survey was probably completed by people who have never been. There is nothing like a bit of sun and a chippy. Thanks for sharing and promoting Brid.
3 years ago when my wife booked a chalet on the South Shore of Brid I was fuming. I thought it would be dirty, full of chavs and horrible and grey When I woke up on the South Shore the first morning the sun was shining. I took a walk to that stunning beach and was transfixed. The pubs are good, the people are lovely The place is good for the soul. Great vid as always
Just loving these kind of videos you are do in guys.the production level is top draw and yes i did notice your cheeky little drone shot of the waves lol. I must say the place looked great and loved you chatting with people and was great to see the councilor give you high praise in the comments for this video.keep the great work upx
Thanks Simon, yeah this one was a hard one to put together. We didn’t have the courage to talk to people on holiday on our first visit so this took three visits to complete! Still finding my wings with the drone work, it will do,e together, albeit very slowly. Was happy (but scared) with the shot we got. Did want a shot flying over the boats in the harbour for the “pier” section but no sooner had we got the drone up we got attacked by twenty seagulls so it was a very hasty landing indeed! Hope you have an amazing week. Some great new series coming up in the next month!
a lot harder than on festivals. everyone looked really intent on what they were doing and not keen to be disturbed. its a learning curve, but at least one of us stood near people at all times so that the audio worked on the Hollyland Mics.
Which voters clearly haven't a Scooby! Or, like most people, just listen to hearsay and slag a place off without actually having any knowledge whatsoever! The beach and facilities are all you could ask for and the town centre is picturesque and bustling! Which can't be said for many town centres these days! The pirate ship 😅 I had similar difficulty with the word 'anomaly' the other day. that's amazing someone bought a house based on your videos, I hope you guys are on commission! The harbour looks beautiful! There's loads to do! And Flamborough Head is awesome too! Stupid Which voters!
thank you Matt, yes really honoured to be making such an impression on people that it influences peoples housing and holiday decisions. As a family holiday I’d say Bridlington has it all, a week wouldn’t be long enough. it took us three visits to film this and we were literally running from place to place to try and capture everything possible, im sure there might be a few things we missed. thanks for your heads up re the award winning train station, it really is stunning. the amount of care and love gone into that station is almost overwhelming. what a great welcome that would be for people arriving by train! I really do think that the people participating in the survey have never visited. hope you have an amazing weekend! Annamonnoly, Amonally?
Wonderful dear Gen x team! You rocked it yet again. Happy Saturday, waving to you from Charlestown Cornwall! Can’t wait to treat you both to lunch if you ever review Cornwall 🤗💖🤗
Great stuff guys. I do think there is horrendous favouritism in all of these surveys towards the wants and needs of the upper middle class on staycation. Mummy probably struggled to get Tarquin his free range poached egg and avocado on toast for breakfast in Bridlington. Fairgrounds and arcades probably are seen as negative points but they are part of 'fun at the seaside' for the majority of the population of the UK.
spot on Andy. imo id say only Scarborough, Whitby and Brid have a chance at entering best places to stay in Yorkshire. all 3 are the best family holiday places on the planet. I really want WHICH to continue being rubbish but beyond that, there was a section where the 5000 participants were asked to comment on their accommodation in Brid. the answer tells you everything, it was blank. WHICH are forcing a handful of participants to vote on things they are clueless about,
Hi Nick and Jill Oh, Now I really know your silent walk has a purpose to this video Have you heard many times some critics say " It is one of the best beaches in the GB to visit....," but actually No..No.. it is the worst??? haha A person experience one unpleasant mishap, and it stains the reputation. You and Jill proved it. So much work has done to produce this film. I really appreciate it. Happy Friday! Enjoy the summer
thank you so much Ms Kayak. I really don’t understand the WHICH Consumer Survey Group and they are the highest regarded in the land. I for one (if I was a staycationer) would be more than happy with a weeks holiday in Bridlington. in fact a week is not enough to see and do everything on offer! hope you guys have an amazing weekend, cant wait to see what you get up to next!
The water is really inviting 👍. Beautiful place to walk and enjoy with family and friends ❤️. The city scenery is looks interesting. Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend 👍
Thank you for my shout out! We are currently watching this video from our new home in bridlington. And I think that if the people who dislike bridlington came to see it for themselves they would definitely change their minds!
thank you so much Chloe for your amazing comment and reaching out. I really feel Bridlington has it all right now but it’s such an up and coming place too. it attracts more and more visitors each and every year, the locals are friendly and welcoming and everything from the Award Winning Train Station to its 2024 Award Winning Beach is absolutely amazing. I’m fairly certain nobody that filled in the Which Consumer Survey has ever taken the time to visit! Hope you have an amazing weekend! ♥️
Oi Oi Nick and Jill. Great to see another video on Beautiful Bridlington! I find it hard to believe how low it's been rated! But I'm so glad to see you guys bringing it back and showing off how incredible the beaches, the attractions and the seaside vibe is! Check out those drone shots Nick, get in! Free toilets... sold! I suppose you could say, look at the beaches, look how full up they are of familys and friends having a great time on the beach, worst seaside town I think not!Mmm chips! Plenty of attractions and history, it's a place people should want to flock too. Thank you both, another corker! xx
thank you so much Alessa. the WHICH rating system is bonkers. a glance over their findings and the top and bottom of the scale make little sense at all. we are still very nervous drone flyers and whilst we managed to pull off one shot on the beach another shot which we failed on was going to be over the Marina. we had barely got it off the ground when twenty seagulls appeared from nowhere and banged up on our drone 2.0! Brett makes it look so easy, it’s a real talent! free toilets are a rare find these days. have to confess we indulged in fish and chips twice whilst filming this video. mostly because we were disappointed with the first lot! the second lot didn’t disappoint though! hope you are having an awesome weekend! xx
Brilliant review 🙌🙌 We moved to Bridlington around 8 years ago from Leeds and love it. As much as I miss Leeds we would never move back. I mean who would want to live in a busy city when we have all this around us. Its a no brainer haha. 👍
I’m so pleased for you Dave. Took me thirty years to make the move to Scarborough yet the more times we visit Brid the more we fall in love with it down there. Our plan was always to retire abroad but given the likeliness of that happening under current and probably future laws, a place in Brid would be as perfect as it gets in the UK. Well done on your move 👍
Just looked at your overnight views and then you precious weeks video for the last 7 days and stunned - why has you last weeks video got 10 times more views, unbelievable. Still enjoyed this video mind and never been to Brid before, although we had set off for it before but then seen the signpost for Whitby....... The beach there looked great and I always love a land train but free toilets are always a win for me, as I use then a lot! The marking for the shops looked way off, some great little shops there and a market too! What the hell is an Espenolia.....but another nice pier and harbour but I would prefer a holiday home in the Lakes rather than Brid but it does look nice to me and I like the sound of 149! Free for the priory, sounds great value to me and makes you wonder about this WHICH survey! Cheers Alan
shocking isnt it Alan? I really can’t get people to come to my holiday videos, even changed the thumbnail in desperation to no avail! oh well, they are on a fortnightly release schedule now and we will just have to work that much harder on alternate weeks to keep our channel afloat! thankfully not short of a million great ideas and follow ups! these holiday videos will still be coming out when we are back on our hols in the foothills of the Dolomites (can’t wait). Will have to come up with a new plan on how I present them. As for Brid it was the one place my parents never took me on a day trip when we had our holidays in Scarborough. it was always Filey and Whitby that we visited. since moving to Scarborough we have visited Brid more and more often and I have to say it gets better with every visit! the 149, thats crying out for an Alan Metalman review. definitely the best fish and chips we have ever had and we have had them a LOT from there! we even naughtily broke covid lockdown to get fish and chips from there and see Brid Promenade again! a holiday home in the Lakes would be amazing, that would get my vote too. the people we have influenced have bought permanent homes in Brid! don’t forget it’s the Regatta this weekend in Whitby and it’s Lincoln Steampunk next weekend! 👍
Surveys like that often produce quite strange results. Bridlington has so much in the way of facilities, places to stay, parking, big beaches and all the pubs, fish and chip shops and attractions plus some great coastal walking just as you highlight in your videos. It depends what you want from a beach holiday I suppose, if the folks surveyed wanted a quiet little oasis Bridlington isn't that, but I would have thought it's a super place to go as a family for a relatively inexpensive and fun day out. Thanks to you both as ever for another really insightful video.
Hi Emily yeah you are right these surveys can be quite un biased depending on individuals wants and desires! It grows on us the more we visit! just so much choice! Thanks Emily hope your week is off to a good start ❤️
Hi Nick and Jill its such a shame that some places get branded as being badly rated. It's like Skegness gets a bad press but everyone who goes there has a fantastic time. We would definitely go to Bridlington after this and your video earlier in the week. It even has a land train fantastic. Loved those little independant shops a great variety and they looked fabulous. The market looked vibrant too. There seemed to be a lot of life with the boat trips and everything going on. That seagull was cool 😎. The land trains were different colours brilliant you could ride a different colour each way 😀. It looks fab at Bridlington we would definitely love to visit one day. Hope you have a fabulous weekend Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️
If you ask me it’s place with a heart and soul! I would gladly stay there for a couple of days and explore the place, and when I'm there, I'd also visit Scotland for a couple of days or weeks if the weather is bad. 😁 Lovely episode guys, you did great job here!
thank you so much Ervin. oh gosh I’m just imagining Ervin in some of the remote areas of Scotland! now that would be awesome. we have just booked our next trip to the entrance of the Dolomites. very excited!
So here we go and we’ve never been there before so looking forward to this. Rail station looks nice. Beach looks nice…. Ref to Skinningrove - Sense there is story to tell there ! Good you showcased the good little local businesses still trading and high street looks better than many places tbh. Cant see why it gets run down ? Thats a cheap speedboat ride !! Love a chippy recommendation - There’s a whole RUclips channel right there This is a great promo for Bridlington - What do Which know eh !! Thx for this
Hi guys Brid grows on us more everytime we go! There are a few questionable seaside towns in Yorkshire so don’t understand why this one got voted the worst makes no sense at all! Hope your week is off to a good start ❤️
Someone else asked this question. I hadn’t known of the green lawns and flower beds, those sound nice but would give Brid a more Senior OAP Filey feel. I think Brid is smashing it now as a family destination, admittedly the rides could be improved, hopefully as more and more families arrive the rides will improve too!
thank you Anita! we did indulge in Fish and Chips twice whilst filming this. in fact the 149 which was shown in this video is where we took Dara and Ian for their fish and chips!
Ahhh but Bridlington looks so lovely, I can't believe it was rated so low in many different areas. I especially liked the beach with a lot of people enjoying it. I am surprised it got voted this low but then I know with surveys its only down to the people that do them, I am surprised at the WHICH survey on this place. The shopping area in the old town looks so nice and atmospheric. Love the beauty bank, great idea 😃Good that they have a market there as well. Great to have a few piers and the hes..hespan ...hhespanolo....pirate ship 😄 too. People that you spoke to seem to love it there including the chips loving seagulls ! The Priory looked so beautiful and there is also the gorgeous lighthouse and Sewerby House so there is a lot of things to do for people visiting and for tourists. You showed it off well, I don't agree with that survey 😃👍~ Anna
Us neither Anna or the view commenting who live and enjoy visiting! Thanks for your great comment! Brid really is a fabulous place it grows on us more each time we visit! Hope you and Alf are well and having a lovely weekend ❤️
Yes, it's a bit run down in the town in places, but as you say - that's the same anywhere across the country. I've been a relatively regular visitor to Brid since I was a very young kid in the late 70's (I think it was the law to come if you were from Doncaster!) and still love a day out there.
Hi there thank you for your great comment! we love Bridlington grows on us more each time we visit we have loved hearing peoples stories of visiting in the comments! Have a great week ahead and continue to enjoy your times in Bridlington 👍❤️
Well done..I live in Bridlington and thank you for your honesty 🙏 everywhere now suffering...❤.Bridlington will always be enjoyable to thousands of people ❤❤❤
Thank you Adrian. We love the place. It actually took three visits to film this, we had fish and chips twice and the more you visit the more you want to visit. It’s a great place and I feel that everyone that actually goes there gets the itch to return.
Looks fine to us!! Love the drone shot of the waves. Free toilets are becoming a rarity these days, go Bridlington. Those little independent shops look gorgeous. Go Jill on your talking!! Those Which consumer reviews really aren't worth the paper they're written on are they. That's an amazing piece for a speedboat ride.. ah waltzers - we love a waltzer.you've given some great places to visit on this video. Cheers guys 🍻
Thank you Rach and Wills, hope you’re having an amazing time away. We have just booked our next hol.in the foothills of the Dolomites for the most part North of Lake Garda (we have never been before), very excited! Brid is amazing, like you say WHICH is worthless not just on holiday destinations but flat across the board on most advice they give. I might make it my life side mission to make public just how useless and insignificant they really are. Anyway, have a great hol, Brid is quite possibly THE best family holiday available in a Yorkshire. They should maybe do a survey, like we did, of people that have actually visited..
@@GENerationXplorers amazing, and great views in this too!! We’re off to Spain on Tuesday, Sitges for a few days then Salou. You get a bit of a mention on tomorrow’s video x
What a great place to visit or live Nick and Jill...looks like a great place to live too...from all the wonderful restaurants and pubs and the lovely seaside right there who wouldn't want to live there...such a lovely place....this was another wonderful video...lots of research and thought put into this! Great job my friends! Love you both! Hugs from Hollywood sent across the pond!🤗
love you too Donna! even though we live by the sea we were very envious of Bridlington during covid lockdown. so much directly on their doorstop. imagine walking on that wide promenade without fear of the virus? it always seemed so much more appealing than where we were when everything was still unknown! hope you have an amazing week end!
I grew up in Brid and think it’s a great place. Your video does a super job of highlighting a lot of the good things in the town. Thank you. That said, there is a lot of deprivation in Brid due to a lack of well-paid jobs in the area, and governments (red and blue) have failed to come up with any ideas to improve the situation. The people of Brid have been well and truly failed by the political classes. Sadly, the effect of this is that people living in deprived seaside towns like Brid are delivered straight into the hands of agitators like Nigel Farage and Reform. They claim to be different from the other political parties, but it’s all just manipulation. Nigel Farage cares about Nigel Farage. This is probably one of the main reasons why I’d struggle to move back to Brid, because it would be very frustrating to see so many people conned into believing that parties like Reform were going to change their lives for the better. Places like Brid need support from people who genuinely care - not charismatic conmen.
Gosh you make some great points there. I think your right, no political party cares about the woes and economic issues of our seaside towns, where work is seasonal at best and properties are bought up as second homes by the wealthy that never spend a penny there and make it impossible for locals to get on the property ladder. Brid sadly is no different than all our seaside towns in that regard but what Brid has that most seaside towns doesnt is a an ample wealth of all year long things to do. As for the politics, we would have to have MPs that truly care about affordable housing, greedy landlords, second homes and destroy them. But all MPs by design have property portfolios, second homes and won’t pass any bill in parliament that will undermine their own investments and interests. This obviously is Conservative and Labour but yes sadly all the Reform candidates and MPs, present or potential have extensive property portfolios. You wont find locals doing well in our seaside towns, most can’t afford to be housed there, what you will find is deprivation and unemployment and that’s before they empty the prisons early and where can they send them? The seaside to set up cross border crime gangs because there isn’t any money in anything else. It’s very unfortunate and your comment points out why it wont improve in our lifetimes, maybe never..
@@GENerationXplorers It’s a depressing situation, isn’t it? Still, at least you’re doing something positive with this video, showcasing Bridlington in really good way. Thanks again for putting this together. Best wishes!
@@SensibleRidergenuinely love Brid, never visited as a child but in the last twenty years it’s grown on me with every visit (and I visit a lot). Scarborough is my new home, moved here from Blackpool, both places with pretty much insurmountable issues to contend with and nobody in power able to deal with them. That seems to be the lot our seaside towns are dealt. Not a day goes by we don’t consider moving closer to the lovely Brid so you will only hear its praises from us no matter how we have to package the video. But you have definitely highlighted the point that our British Seaside is entirely doomed. I always wanted to do a “second home, blight of our seaside” video, seriously, I think you have edged me a lot closer to that tonight..
@@GENerationXplorers Second homes/holiday homes/Airbnb lets are a problem in lots of places, driving up rents and prices - this situation is not unique to Bridlington. Even the wealthiest cities in the UK are having to deal with this problem. A far bigger problem for towns like Bridlington is the lack of well-paid jobs. I’d like to see a video asking the local MP (who’s a Conservative) what he’s doing to encourage the Labour government to create jobs in the area. I’d also like to see him asked how many well-paid jobs his predecessor (also a Conservative) created during the Tory’s time in power. My guess is approximately zero.
Charlie would probably tout that the Tories have boosted tourism and improved links with Europe to export shellfish. Its a problem shared with the majority of seaside towns but with Bridlington attracting more and more visitors each year unless there is a very real clampdown on second homes the issues we all face on the coast will be massive!
It didn’t look bad at all to me, in fact we think we should visit. I’m not sure if I’ve been to Bridlington before, I may have been when I was very young. We will have to check it out… thanks for sharing, certainly questions the results of the survey. All the very best, David & Rachel 👍❤️
It's sad that there's a desire to put more negativity into the world, why create a survey about the 'worst......' instead of 'the best...' ' the most affordable...' etc From what you've shown Bridlington looks lovely, it makes a good impression right from the start with the railway station that has flower displays, it shows care and pride in a place. The beach area is sandy and expansive and it has interesting little shops and lots of different places to eat. Not being a fan of fish and chips (I know shock! Horror!) having the most fish and chip shops than any other seaside town isn't a selling point for me! But the fact it has a variety of restaurants with outdoor seating is a positive.
Hi there it really is sad they have to encourage negativity but unfortunately that sells but we love Brid and wanted to fight its corner! Think we remember you saying you were not a fish & chip fan! Bridlington definitely has something for everyone! have a lovely weekend ❤️
I don't know how it was rated so low in so many different areas. It did no look bad to me. The beach looked nice and town shops were nice. Great seeing all the venders in the market and boats in the harbor. Thanks for showing us around and for the information.
Morning Nick and Jill We didn't realise that Bridlington had been voted the worst seaside resort in Yorkshire. Definitely doesn't deserve it. So much to do in Brid and the beaches are great. Good to see so many people enjoying their time there. Free toilets, not everywhere can say that. Good to see Nick having a paddle. The shops in the old part look great. The pirate ship 😂 made us laugh Jill, I'd be the same (Jo) How lovely dolphins in the bay Can't beat fish and chips at the seaside, don't think I'd be sharing with the seagulls, it would be Boo, she loves a chippy tea 😂😂😂 Great singing guys😂 Some fab places around Bridlington too. New mics sound great, we are really happy with ours Sorry we're only just catching up on your recent uploads. Hope you're having a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend ❤
Morning Jo yeah we too were surprised it got voted this we love Brid it grows on us more everytime we visit! Aaw Boo loves a chippy tea 🤣 the 149 place caters for gluten free with a separate fryer so Morgs would be set too! Hope you guys had a great trip 🏴 or are you still enjoying it? Have a great bank holiday also ❤️ love to you, Morgs & Boo x
@@GENerationXplorers thanks for that guys, always good to know of a fish and chip shop that does GF. We got back from our adventures late Friday infact Morgs straight back to work (he's working all weekend ) Hope you're having a good day 😊
@morgsjoboo2247 Aaww sorry to hear Morgs is having to work all weekend! Hope you are planning your next adventures! Looking forward to seeing your videos from your latest trip 👍❤️
my sister was visiting, so i missed this on friday, but i had been really looking forward to it and you didn't disappoint! you two and your meows! this is why i love you two. the pirate ship name, easy for you to say, eh jilly? 🤣 this place looks like it's gotten bad vote. after the walk from earlier in the week, and now seeing it with your speaking commentary, it looks like a great place to visit! i want to see the dolphins and eat the foods and ride the train. loved hearing other people talk about their experiences there. i suppose every list is going to have a "worst" and if this is the "worst" y'all are lucky!! 🛴❤ also, squeeeeee at the town councillor comment!!!
Hi Anne hope you had a nice time with your sister! Yeah the councillor comment made our day! We really love Brid it grows on us every time we visit! Thanks for another awesome comment! Hope your week is off to a good start! have a gooden ❤️
Somebody didn't like Bridlington that probably works for that survey business and decided to name it worst seaside town in Yorkshire by doing a 5000 sample in the whole og the UK ?...yep crazy, but then again that's why people don't put much faith in surveys nowadays. Not worth the paper...sorry the blog it is posted on. From what I can see, nothing wrong with the place and scenery. Well done Nic & Jill for setting it right for this town , its people and more importantly the businesses that rely on the tourist $$... As if it wasn't tough enough already for these small towns! Your survey is much better I think👍😊Have a great weekend.
Hi Nick and Jill, I cannot see why Bridlington has been getting such a bad rap. Many people were enjoying the lovely sandy beach and the town and harbour looked very attractive. I liked the cute little train - a fun way to travel down the prom. You two should be paid by the Yorkshire Tourist Board! You did a brilliant job of convincing us all that those ratings were absolute rubbish! Great job - I'm off to Bridlington!👍😀☀
👍🤣 Thanks Julie and Lucy! We have had a great comment off a local councillor which has made our day! Hope you are having a lovely weekend where ever you are in the world ❤️
Look like the town is heavily underrated. Looked like lots going on there and not ridicolous cramped on the beach (so you get next persons breathe in your neck). Haha... Thanks Jill with the struggle saying that word. Then I don't have to feel stupid saying words wrong! 😅 Awww... Thought Nick should show a real dip into the Sea! 😉😆 Lovely video and shows... Don't always relay on votings... Thanks again Lovelies for a great video. Have a great weekend 🦇🖤🖤🖤🖤🦇
🤣 always getting words wrong just don’t normally show it but it does make it amusing lol! Thanks Sanniz it’s a great place for sure! You have a great weekend also 🖤🖤
Not sure why it got low reviews, certainly looks like it has a lot to offer and would be a nice place to live. I always like the small independent shops at coastal towns so nice to see them doing so well 😊
thank you Yasmin, it certainly does Buck the trend for retail in a coastal town. the old town in particular is a place that is very inviting for a discerning shopper and I only found out whilst filming this that the Market which was pretty big and varied runs three days a week. very impressive!
The place looks fine to me and not completely overcrowded with people everywhere. The land trains looks amazing. Where I live, it is a tram instead, it is a fun way to get around town.
Thanks Thomas yes we always like seeing your teams but these little land trains are great to get from one side to the other! Brid is a truly great place! Have a great weekend 👍
This looks like a great seaside town to me. The nice inviting shops and restaurants, that wonderful beach and lovely harbour 👍. I want to go on the long train lol. You did a great job showing everyone why they should visit! 👍😊🇨🇦
Went here for an unexpected day trip last week (traffic to Whitby proved to be congested). So glad we chose here. Definitely going to come again and spend a few days next time.
oh wow Malcolm I’m so glad you did and traffic is always congested to Scarborough and Whitby, thats another amazing reason to visit Bridlington. all three places are great but Brid has so much going for it! thanks for getting in touch.
Whats not to like ?! I don’t get it !! Just couldn’t find fault with lovely Brid … for a seaside resort it has everything. That beach is awesome … so much space Free loos (& more than one haha ) large prom, lots of little beach stalls, spa, pubs , cafes & all litter free, clean and well cared for. The piers looked fab (though be careful what you catch there 🏴☠️) & a land train to get you around cos it’s … huge 😂 Adored those beach huts with their own paddling pools .. what a wonderful idea … never seen that before. Sounds like the only real survey done was Nick’s (sorry I missed it 😟) Interesting to see if any other Which surveys stand up in reality. Great positive video … well done 😊🤗🤗xx
Hi Christine we love Brid and it grows on us even more each time we go! The paddling pools in front of the beach huts are great aren’t they! Honestly everyone was having the best time! Yeah we may have to research and cover more of the Which surveys! Thanks for another great comment and we will see you soon 😘
Most UK seaside resorts are not like they used to be , But Bridlington the worse is inaccurate , as we can see from your video that it was packed with tourist and they where totally having a great time , sounds like the Which review was rubbish . I would rather listen to and see one of your reviews than any Which review , What's not to like about Brid , I'm thinking of coming here on Tuesday for 3 days , Take my folks for a short break , We used to come here when me and my sister where kids , about 50 Years ago , So great childhood memories . If the weathers good it's better than going abroad , Bridlington has a lot to offer 60 pubs , a lot of fish n chip shops , attractions , a fairground , Good places to eat . Great review ( Honest review ), C'mon head down to Bridlington , Enjoy ! What's was the name of that boat ??? LOL. A bit of a tongue twister. Cheers guys .
Hi Dylan what a fab comment thank you and I hope you have a great few days reminiscing with your folks it’s going to be cold but dry the next few days so will be nice for you (Been teeming down all day today) We will be visiting Brid on Sunday for the Dickensian weekend in the old town! Brid grows on us every time we visit (from just down the road in Scarborough)! 👍
@@GENerationXplorers Well i stayed 3 days , had a fantastic time , great place , my folks loved it too , The beach was fantastic , i will returning in the future , Bridlington is a great place to visit.
We love brid we are going for our 3rd holiday to brid this year in 2 weeks we have a 4th booked for over new year and 3 booked for next year already. Ii never take much notice of the these which pills cos most people have never been . We also go to carribean for holidays to and once got asked which we prefer carribean or brid. We a love them both equally with one major we want to move and live in bridlington but we don’t want to live in the carribean.
Thats a lovely comment Molly, thankyou. Amazed and happy that you have four holidays a year to the lovely Bridlington. We used to do the same thing with Scarborough before eventually moving there. Had we known more about Bridlington back then we would probably have chosen there instead! its a wonderful destination that offers so much. So much good is being done there and the town welcomes more and more visitors than ever before. its soar in tourism numbers will see more and more people look to either move or invest there! hope you have an amazing holiday 👍
As you know we love Bridlington, yes its no Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay, but you can have a nice walk, the dog can have a great run on the beautiful beach, some fab fish and chips and tons to do for those that like amusements and stuff. Toilets are a great win for Bridlington, clean, FREE and numerous!! Then there is the beautiful harbour. In fact we are hoping to meet our daughter there for a day in the next couple of weeks! We need to fish out the old town, as haven't found that yet! Oh and like you guys, we always end up chatting to a local!
It really is a fabulous Seaside town! A lovely spot to meet your daughter for the day! Will Insta DM you the /// WTW’s for the old town. The locals are so lovely and very friendly. Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend ❤️
Aww look at that beautiful little train station I personally love Bridlington been a Hull lass it's not that far to go when the sun is shining it's a fab place to be the holiday makers love it I would give it a 10/10 for amenities and there is some thing for everyone loved the video guys ❤
thank you Janet! We have become huge fans of Bridlington. we used to go on family holidays to Scarborough growing up and went on days out to Filey and Whitby but my parents never brought me down to Brid. After moving to this coast twenty years ago we started to venture down more and more. nowadays any reason is a reason to visit Bridlngton! also looking forward to a return trip to Hull! hope you have an amazing weekend! ♥️
I really find the whole rating system of Which very questionable. their 5000 people surveyed, have they been to all the towns they are asked about or are they asked to rate places they have no knowledge of? the top end of the scale is as ridiculous as the bottom end imo and yet all the major newspapers pick up the results of their survey every year and slam them on their front pages. the biggest telling indictment for me is that under scoring accommodation in Bridlington there is a blank space inferring to me that nobody surveyed ever visited!
It looked like a nice place and beach wonder why they gave it a bad review! I would go there👍🏼 Dang thought you were gonna show the fish n chips I’m starving😂
Brought all the memories flooding back of me and my grandad walking the harbor in the winter storms and getting soaked..Which needs update there broomstick lol as there wrong lol xx
I have a caravan in filey, and we always end up taking the extra drive to brid rather than scarborough, brid always feels better, cleaner and less cluttered. a propper sea side town, with huge clean beaches.
It is often said that the only good news is bad news ! 'Bridlington is a nice place to visit' = zero interest 😴. 'Bridlington is the worst seaside resort in Britain' = massive readership 😁. To be fair the town has improved enormously over the past few years !
I love Brid , when I was flying there Saturday gone , a drunken man walked straight into my drone when I was landing luckily I raised the drone before he pushed it out of the way ,,, and he wasn't angry ,, thank god ,,, just a happy drunk....
Yeah that sounds exactly like Brid! Same thing happened to us there and after that a lone seagull chirped up and called twenty of his mates to attack the drone. Got it back down super fast!
Coming from Hull, Brid is the go to place for everyone from Hull and the surrounding areas. I even go for days in winter and go in the arcades and then in pub...
Looks pretty awesome to me!! Well now, maybe I'll need to open up next door to "Cat's Whiskers" with my own little shop, "Dog's Paws"!! lol Not really sure sometimes about ratings...seems to me that there has been a concerted effort by a neighbouring competitive seaside town!! LOL Oh, a lighthouse...love it!!
Oh wow, thank you Ian well I haven’t tried Little Sicily but heard great things so wanted to show the variety there is on offer in Brid. You’ve convinced me, a meal at Little Sicily is now on the cards, thank you 🙏
thank you so much Vedrana. we are still finding our feet (or is it wings) with the drone flying. we are on our second drone and are very nervous flyers. I did try to also get a shot across the Marina but we got attacked by twenty seagulls and had to quickly land the drone! hopefully we will get better!
pretty much all our best singers are. Quite possibly the best group of all time! UB40 was about the only “Western” thing I got to see when I worked in Shanghai for a year. UB40 “Cant help falling in love “ was the only thing that got me through!
Bridlington is perfect, we should all ignore these pointless surveys & decide for ourselves, you mentioned Skinningrove, that's nice in its own right, with some priceless views & cannot be compared to Bridlington etc, as its not really a seaside resort.
True. Think Bamburgh came out top one year! never been but that too doesn’t look like a resort just a castle and a beach! Skinningrove isn’t a resort as such but was once a thriving seaside town but sadly no more due to lost local industries! You are right though great views just a little rough round the edges! We love Bridlington grows on us everytime we visit! The drive in is nice to 😉👍
It’s hard to believe Bridlington was voted the worst seaside town-those beaches look amazing! You’ve really captured the charm of Bridlington. It seems like there’s so much to see and do! The way you showcased Bridlington’s local businesses and independent shops really highlights the town’s unique character. Kudos to you for sticking up for Bridlington! It’s clear there’s a lot more to love about this town than the survey suggests.
Excellent. Enjoyed it massively, until the bit where the guy's feeding the seagulls at the harbour. Shouldn't you be trying to actively discourage that sort of thing, instead of encouraging it? Anyway, we live here and think Brid's a hundred times better than Scarborough.
Thanks Steve for your comment yeah the seagull problem is massive along this coast and clearly this fella hasn’t seen the signs not to feed them! We were thinking the guy was thankful it was sat nicely next to him and not full on attacking him or robbing him blind of his food! Citizens arrest next time 🤣 We love Bridlington, Scarborough too and Whitby and Filey 🤭 to be fair we are lucky a long this coastline but wouldn’t go any lower than Bridlington 🤣
It’s definitely not the best, but doesn’t look so bad at all! Wonder why it’s the worst rated 🤔 perhaps the beach was poorly rated because everyone wants a quiet serene and unpopulated beach 🤣 I’ve also seen worse piers 😂 excellent job interviewing people around 😎
It was voted worst in Yorkshire! It’s definitely not that! We do have a lot of nice seaside towns in Yorkshire but for young families and what it has to offer it’s certainly closer to the best than the worst for sure! Suppose it depends on what somebody wants from a seaside town! Cheers Keith hope you are having a fun weekend 👍❤️
Nice looking beach good sea views . Pretty busy too . Nice beach huts 🛖 Nice to Wander along the promenade. Not many empty shops glad it's mostly occupied . Nice harbour and piers 👍 Huge Canon. Plenty of places to eat it looks a good place to visit. I don't think it's that bad seen much worse. Cool lighthouse and model Village lots too do . Shame about the reviews 😕 Good video Generation Xplorers Generation Xperiences 👍
Thanks so much Adzey, glad your feeling better pal! Yeah we are about to start filming a series called “Britains Worst Seaside Resorts”, our first one it’s impossible to get to the beach, it has only one pub which has awful reviews and apparently visitors aren’t welcome, there is a holiday site and some of the units are burnt out and the others never get cleaned! We cant wait to sink our teeth into it. It wont be pretty!
@@adzey156 oh I’d love to cover down there! If the first one is successful (it’s a bit closer to home), I’ll definitely venture further afield to see some more corkers!
@@GENerationXplorers yeah I'd like to it's quite sometimes , I used to go with my cousin , he went 14 years none stop, he died last year coming back from brid , and I couldn't make it with him yeah happy times
Hi
As a Bridlington town councillor, I wanted to personally thank you for your recent video about our town.
Sincerely,
Cllr Carlo Verda
Bridlington Town Councillor
This comment just goes to show the reach of your channel. ❤
It’s such a great place! Thanks Joseph & Peter hope you guys in the future are enjoying your weekend ❤️
The problem with us Brits is that we are always pessimistic and self-deprecating. This survey was probably completed by people who have never been. There is nothing like a bit of sun and a chippy. Thanks for sharing and promoting Brid.
Very well said Chris 👍 Cheers pal x
3 years ago when my wife booked a chalet on the South Shore of Brid I was fuming.
I thought it would be dirty, full of chavs and horrible and grey
When I woke up on the South Shore the first morning the sun was shining. I took a walk to that stunning beach and was transfixed.
The pubs are good, the people are lovely
The place is good for the soul.
Great vid as always
Aww so glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for your great comment! Have a super weekend 👍
GREAT VIDEO, guys! Loved it all... so great that you did man on the street interviews. 👍👍
a lot harder than on festivals. everyone looked really intent on what they were doing and not keen to be disturbed. its a learning curve, but at least one of us stood near people at all times so that the audio worked on the Hollyland Mics.
@@GENerationXplorers yes, I was wondering about that! Good on you for experimenting and learning!
You got the town counselor to comment 😮😮😮
Headed in the right direction guys. Getting noticed 🫵🤌🏼😎
Hi guys yeah the councillors comment made our day! nice of him to drop us a comment! Hope your weeks off to a good start! love across the pond ❤️
Beautiful places, great explore, i love it 🤩👍🏾 have a great weekend 🙏🏾😊
Thanks Martha you too 👍
Thanks for the share and the great video....always great to watch...have a great weekend my friends Jill and Nick.
Thank you! You too Fred 👍
Aaaww Matie-Louise you are the sweeetest! thank you xx we will be sure to call on you if ever down in Cornwall xx
Beautiful video my friend. Thanks for sharing your videos. Like for you and have a nice week. 🙂❤
Thank you! You too! ❤️
WHICH are forcing a handful of participants to vote on things they are clueless about,
Hi Nick and Jill
Oh, Now I really know your silent walk has a purpose to this video
Have you heard many times some critics say " It is one of the best beaches in the GB to visit....,"
but actually No..No.. it is the worst??? haha
A person experience one unpleasant mishap, and it stains the reputation.
Have a great weekend 👍
thank you Kenn and thanks for coming to the premiere, really appreciated, have a great weekend 👍
Brett makes it look so easy, it’s a real talent! free toilets are a rare find these days. have to confess we indulged in fish and chips twice whilst filming this video. mostly because we were disappointed with the first lot! the second lot didn’t disappoint though! hope you are having an awesome weekend! xx
Brilliant review 🙌🙌
We moved to Bridlington around 8 years ago from Leeds and love it.
Hi Nick and Jill and Happy Friday ❤ sorry I miss the live rewatching now ❤❤
Thanks Foxy, Manè and mom ❤️
Aaww thanks guys! It really is a great place we definitely recommend it! Have a lovely weekend also ❤️
If you ask me it’s place with a heart and soul! I would gladly stay there for a couple of days and explore the place, and when I'm there, I'd also visit Scotland for a couple of days or weeks if the weather is bad. 😁
Lovely episode guys, you did great job here!

Good you showcased the good little local businesses still trading and high street looks better than many places tbh.
Cant see why it gets run down ? Thats a cheap speedboat ride !!
Love a chippy recommendation - There’s a whole RUclips channel right there
This is a great promo for Bridlington - What do Which know eh !!
Thx for this
Hi guys Brid grows on us more everytime we go! There are a few questionable seaside towns in Yorkshire so don’t understand why this one got voted the worst makes no sense at all! Hope your week is off to a good start ❤️
Top video ❤ Nice to see some love for Bridlington. Although blimey, not sure about the crabs! 😂 That Espadrille looks like a fun ride 😃👍
🤣🤣 you are funny! Cheers Jaune ❤️
Today there are noisy dirty fun rides, where there used to be green lawns, flower beds and wooden benches. What is your preference I wonder.
Someone else asked this question. I hadn’t known of the green lawns and flower beds, those sound nice but would give Brid a more Senior OAP Filey feel. I think Brid is smashing it now as a family destination, admittedly the rides could be improved, hopefully as more and more families arrive the rides will improve too!
have a wonderful weekend, nick and jill. see you next week mates.
thank you Kris, you too 👍
That looked awesome Nick and Jill. I'd visit there. Enjoyed the prancing around along the boulevard. Want Fish and Chips now... Happy weekend. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝

Looks a lovely place, you have shown a lot of interesting places to visit. Great video ❤
Definitely take you here next time you are up north Cara! Have a lovely weekend ❤️

Yes, it's a bit run down in the town in places, but as you say - that's the same anywhere across the country. I've been a relatively regular visitor to Brid since I was a very young kid in the late 70's (I think it was the law to come if you were from Doncaster!) and still love a day out there.

A really good interesting video. Is the Yorkshire Belle still sailing?
It is Arthur, there are scheduled shots throughout September and you can call the skipper for schedules beyond that! 👍
Thanks so much David, Rachel and Roxy! hope you guys are having the best weekend xx
Cheers Gasper! Hope you are having a great weekend xx
Morning Nick and Jill
We didn't realise that Bridlington had been voted the worst seaside resort in Yorkshire. Definitely doesn't deserve it. So much to do in Brid and the beaches are great.
Good to see so many people enjoying their time there.
Free toilets, not everywhere can say that.
Good to see Nick having a paddle.
The shops in the old part look great.
The pirate ship 😂 made us laugh Jill, I'd be the same (Jo)
How lovely dolphins in the bay
Can't beat fish and chips at the seaside, don't think I'd be sharing with the seagulls, it would be Boo, she loves a chippy tea 😂😂😂
Great singing guys😂
Some fab places around Bridlington too.
New mics sound great, we are really happy with ours
Sorry we're only just catching up on your recent uploads.
We got back from our adventures late Friday infact Morgs straight back to work (he's working all weekend )
Hope you're having a good day 😊
@morgsjoboo2247 Aaww sorry to hear Morgs is having to work all weekend!
also, squeeeeee at the town councillor comment!!!
Hi Anne hope you had a nice time with your sister! Yeah the councillor comment made our day! We really love Brid it grows on us every time we visit! Thanks for another awesome comment! Hope your week is off to a good start! have a gooden ❤️
@@GENerationXplorers we had an awesome time! thank you!
Hi Laurie and Karen! You are so right it’s ridiculous how they get to stupid info! Thanks for your great comment! have a great weekend also ❤️
Hi Nick and Jill, I cannot see why Bridlington has been getting such a bad rap.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend where ever you are in the world ❤️
@@GENerationXplorers That's fantastic! Well deserved 😊👍
Look like the town is heavily underrated.
Looked like lots going on there and not ridicolous cramped on the beach (so you get next persons breathe in your neck).
Haha... Thanks Jill with the struggle saying that word. Then I don't have to feel stupid saying words wrong! 😅
Awww... Thought Nick should show a real dip into the Sea! 😉😆
Lovely video and shows...
This place looks nice!
Seaside town!
Beautiful views!
Thank you it’s a great place ❤️
The place looks fine to me and not completely overcrowded with people everywhere. The land trains looks amazing. Where I live, it is a tram instead, it is a fun way to get around town.
Thanks Thomas yes we always like seeing your teams but these little land trains are great to get from one side to the other! Brid is a truly great place! Have a great weekend 👍
This looks like a great seaside town to me. The nice inviting shops and restaurants, that wonderful beach and lovely harbour 👍. I want to go on the long train lol. You did a great job showing everyone why they should visit! 👍😊🇨🇦
Aaww thanks Christine the land trains are fun and a great way to get from one side to the other have a great weekend ❤️
You got the Mayor to comment 😮😮😮
Headed in the right direction guys. Getting noticed 🫵🤌🏼😎
Hi guys yeah the councillors comment made our day! nice of him to drop us a comment! Hope your weeks off to a good start! love across the pond ❤️
@GENerationXplorers enjoy your trip on Sunday, hope you have a great day out.
Nice one Nick and Jill 👍 a good tour around
cheers glyn 👍❤️
We have been going to Bridlington for 25 years we love it t
thank you June. About the same amount of time as us! It grows on us every year too!
Brilliant. I missed the first 5 minutes so heading straight there now 👍❤️
Superstar Phil, thankyou 🙏
Love that you two are nearly always positive in this cynical world of today 😀👍
thank you Steven! great chat last night, roll on Lincoln!
Jill trying to pronounce the pirate ship name reminds me of her Spanish/Italian speaking on your Spanish holiday video 😂
next weeks video has me fluff so many Spanish lines. thank goodness it’s back to Italy! 😅
@@GENerationXplorers can't wait!

❤️❤️
Hello my friends! Have a beautiful weekend too! ❤🤗
Thank you! You too!
Just went back to the beginning of the video and it seems that something strange went on with that low score 🤔
@@GENerationXplorers to be honest. How much of what you read nowadays, do you believe? Personally - very little! 🤔
@@PhilipOlsen11 very true!
Well done you two, nice vid, I've never been but I'm going to now👍

Good to see Bridlington getting a positive review ,brill in brid !!
Hi Garry it’s a fabulous fun place for sure! Hope you and June are well? Have a lovely weekend 👍
I have a caravan in filey, and we always end up taking the extra drive to brid rather than scarborough, brid always feels better, cleaner and less cluttered. a propper sea side town, with huge clean beaches.
Great comment Richard you make some fair points 👍
Hi my friends wow very nice video beautiful place 😍, thank you so much for sharing this incredible place have a great weekend 😃🩵
Thank you! You too!
It is often said that the only good news is bad news ! 'Bridlington is a nice place to visit' = zero interest 😴. 'Bridlington is the worst seaside resort in Britain' = massive readership 😁. To be fair the town has improved enormously over the past few years !
We love it! It grows on us more and more each time we visit! Thanks for you comment! Have a great day 👍
I love Brid , when I was flying there Saturday gone , a drunken man walked straight into my drone when I was landing luckily I raised the drone before he pushed it out of the way ,,, and he wasn't angry ,, thank god ,,, just a happy drunk....
Yeah that sounds exactly like Brid! Same thing happened to us there and after that a lone seagull chirped up and called twenty of his mates to attack the drone. Got it back down super fast!
Coming from Hull, Brid is the go to place for everyone from Hull and the surrounding areas. I even go for days in winter and go in the arcades and then in pub...
yeah its even decent in the winter isn’t it? so much to do there 👍
Next time I go to Bridlington, I need to actually find the beach!!! 🏖️
I’m sorry Dara, my directions were pretty awful, my bad!
@@GENerationXplorers 😂😂 you need to come with us next time!
Hi Bruce that would be Cool or ‘Otis Delights’ and sell all things bananas 🍌🤣 thanks for your great comment hope all is nova cotia ❤️ 🇨🇦
After seeing your last video of Bridlington, i thought that looks a nice place to visit. Seems to have it all, and Dolphins as well 🐬🐬👍
thank you Mick 🙏 it really is a wonderful place. We visited three times whilst filming this and we already want to return! 👍
The beach looks quite lovely indeed - the rest of the town would not be that important 😁😁Still, it doesn't look that bad either 👍👍
Hi there it’s a great place grows on us all the more we visit it! Have a great weekend 👍❤️
Very good watch. Featuring 3 of the best in brid. Best chippy pride of brid, best restaurant little sicily and best shop little glastonbury. 👍👍👍
Oh wow, thank you Ian well I haven’t tried Little Sicily but heard great things so wanted to show the variety there is on offer in Brid. You’ve convinced me, a meal at Little Sicily is now on the cards, thank you 🙏

You may need to book in advance. Due to it not being the largest and always busy when we go
Thanks Ian, I’ll do that. Actually when I filmed that shot outside it it had only just opened and it was rammed inside!
It seems OK to me, it has a lot to offer. Drone scenes are really amazing 👏👍
thank you so much Vedrana. we are still finding our feet (or is it wings) with the drone flying. we are on our second drone and are very nervous flyers. I did try to also get a shot across the Marina but we got attacked by twenty seagulls and had to quickly land the drone! hopefully we will get better!
When you mentioned UB40, Ian just had to point out that the group is from Brum! 😂
pretty much all our best singers are. Quite possibly the best group of all time! UB40 was about the only “Western” thing I got to see when I worked in Shanghai for a year. UB40 “Cant help falling in love “ was the only thing that got me through!
@@GENerationXplorers awwww 🩷
The drive in is nice to 😉👍
Hi Nick & Jill, looking forward to the silly commentary! 😂
Hope you enjoy it 🤣 have a lovely weekend ❤️
It’s hard to believe Bridlington was voted the worst seaside town-those beaches look amazing! You’ve really captured the charm of Bridlington. It seems like there’s so much to see and do! The way you showcased Bridlington’s local businesses and independent shops really highlights the town’s unique character. Kudos to you for sticking up for Bridlington! It’s clear there’s a lot more to love about this town than the survey suggests.
There really is it grows on us more and more each time we visit! Thanks guys ❤️
Well done you two, never been but I'm going to now👍
if your disappointed I will put you up myself and give you a second holiday. the place is amazing!
