Can I just say that Smosh picked the perfect pair to do this podcast. Something about both Shayne and Amanda is so grounding. They bounce off each other so well, listen with intention and whenever they have a guest, it feels just as cohesive. Probably one of the few podcasts that I can confidently watch every single episode and know ill enjoy it
I did actually see the staged RUclips shorts and I fell for them, that's why I hunted for this one and watched the whole thing lol I've been bamboozled
This Podcast, especially with Amanda and Shayne being the hosts, reminds me of two 34 year old Aunties just chatting and are just having the time of their life.
Can I just say how validating it was for Shayne to talk about how self-isolation happens for him? That was so real to my own experience, and it made me feel really seen. I get so caught up in my own head with, "Oh, someone texted me 4 hours ago and I didn't respond. It'd be weird to respond now. They're probably annoyed. What if they're mad at me? I shouldn't reach out." It just keeps building on itself, and honestly the only way to free yourself of it is to break through and be around your friends. That's so hard to do, but man, I really needed to hear it today. Thank you, Shayne.
I'm the same, the birthday/reaching out (especially if I have to organize something for a larger group of people, so I feel the additional pressure) is so hard for me. It's a bit of an ADHD thing, but also deep personal insecurities that are hard to overcome.
"hey, sorry, didn't have the spoons to respond till now. Blah blah blah blah." Fill in the blahs with the response to the message. If you got that message from your friend, would you be mad, or would you understand and just be grateful they got back to you? If you've got good, reasonable friends, they'll forgive the lack of quick response as you would forgive them.
I literally have not stopped thinking about it all day. I love how open and honest they are with us about how they feel and what they go through. it can be so easy to look at ppl in the media and think you're so below them because they never show the hard parts. it really, really helped to know that someone I've looked up to for a good majority of my life goes through the same things I do
Hearing shayne talk about the splits I'm super hopeful that one day he's gonna surprise everyone by just falling into full splits during a TNTL one day
Couldn't relate more to Shayne about keeping in touch with people and the anxiety about responding/following up with messages. I just recently started reaching out to old friends and have found that so much of the anxiety of "will they be mad for not responding?" have been so unfounded. Don't be afraid to reach out!
Yes! I was listening to that and just going, wow, those are the words to match the feelings, like to a tee. The next time I feel like messaging someone and I don't know what to say, I actually think I'm going to send that clip with like a smiley face hahaha. My closest friends are gonna get so annoyed after a while lol
Shayne talking about the stress of birthdays and maintaining connections was so relatable. I feel like no one really ever talks about the anxiety that can exist in adult friendships and relationships, I'm glad im not alone in that.
The freddy benson bit really worked. My friend that doesn’t watch smosh at all came to me to tell me about it. I had to break the news just now that it’s not true lmaoo
When Shayne said “Hardcore History” I rolled my eyes so far back into my head that they snapped off and are just rolling around in there. That’s my dad’s current favorite podcast and he LOVES to talk in depth about it. He also loves the Goldbergs so he’s going to be really thrilled that Matt Bradley’s actor likes the same podcast
Man, i wish this was a 2hr kinda thing. I love just listening to them talk and vibe, so far Smoah has done a great job casting people who gel together well, and im so halpy for it ❤
Its actually a really smart tactic for views, it's like those podcast clips on tiktok that aren't even from real podcasts, they just filmed the clip for views.
All the comments on the short had me so excited to watch this too. I don't usually watch the podcast, but everyone got me curious about the juicy story lmao
You know what, Shayne, I'm going to finally start working out, not to lose weight, not for an aesthetic, but for myself. These past few months have been very difficult for me, but having the two of you talking about things you want to accomplish has really motivated me. Thank you and stat tuned
This honestly gets me through the day. I’m at 32 year old mom from Pittsburgh of four boys. Went to school for television but got pregnant by junior year. Smosh is truly my gateway to normalcy sometimes. Love you guys so much.
I need to make it clear that Amanda completely rocked the short bangs bob, even though she might look back on it in a different light. Love her current hair and I love the shorter bangs just as much. It was so original that it had people talking and it was truly a serve.

I'd love to watch a dream one. Actually, I had a strange Smosh-related dream the past two days. I keep feeling like I'm watching an episode of the crew playing stuff on the games channel, but nothing quite makes sense or has context. It's weird, but I kinda like it 😄
My mom showed me a smosh video once when I was 7 or 8 and since then I’ve never gotten off the internet. Mind you I was a kid that didn’t stop moving, I came “running out” according to my mom- until she sat me down for a funny five minute video. Smosh has kept me up for years- given me a sense of community. I’ve loved growing up with you guys, I’m 17 now turning 18 in the middle of November and I listen to your guys’s podcast while I drive to school and hangout with friends. I have so much Im grateful for because of you guys and so proud to see how the channel has grown. Thank you for encouraging me to be silly, goofy, and kind. You guys are awesome
Shayne not being able to remember the date and getting self conscious about reaching out to people first is super relatable. Like having to remind myself people care about me, regular occurrence. And the two of you hosting this poscast is a great combo. I just wanna say, it's been a rough couple of years, and i discovered smosh around 2020-21, so thanks for all the laughs throughout the tough times. Y'all made a lot of days easier, and I love what y'all are doing with the podcast.
A few months ago I had a moment where I thought to myself “wait, why aren’t you doing what you want to do again?” And from there on i’ve been listening to what I want and my body. Setting boundaries, feeling healthier regardless of the number on the scale, therapy, tarot, journaling, buying/thrifting clothes because I like them and not how I will look to others in them, making appointments I’ve been putting off, budgeting to save money. Overall self care because I deserve it and it just hit me a few months ago. Now there’s no looking back ❤
I really like the podcast “there’s no such thing as a fish”. It’s a sort of trivia podcast where a group of people set out to discover something during the week and at the end come together and share their findings with each other. It’s really good and you learn some interesting stuff as well :)
I love listening to The Gilmore Guys and because of There's No Such Thing As A Fish at the end of their episode they plug something in pop culture they just discovered or are really into.
Another important point about No Such Thing As a Fish is that it's by the QI Elves. QI is a British panel show where contestants are quizzed about obscure facts and the Elves are the researchers for the show.
I'd love to listen to a podcast about psychology from Shayne, like he has such good takes on things I could just listen to him explain this generations psychological issues for hours.
It’s a little scary how much I related to shayne with the self-isolation from my anxiety. It’s great to have the feeling so eloquently spoken out loud, I could never really figure out a way to explain it to others
I love this podcast because it feels like I'm sitting at a dining room table in a childhood home listening to friends talk and just hang out. There's something really comforting and nostalgic? about it that I really like.
After hearing you guys talk about motivation, it’s inspiring me to try and find fulfillment in the hobbies that I used to enjoy… art, building legos, and finally finishing my cat’s outdoor screened patio. I don’t know why we get caught up in being scared to start the things that we love, but hearing you both talk about it makes it seem less overwhelming. Thanks Shayne and Amanda!
OHMG i totally understand realizing the personal benefits of stretching and wanting to commit. shane's stretching/splits conversation is inspiring me to go to the gym when every episode of Smosh Mouth comes out so then i hAVE to go to listen to yall. never had someone explicitly talk abt how they're trying something they believe in and hoping to be able to inspire others so we better eachother, together! being genuine and honest; serious but light-hearted-- slay. love this podcast and excited to be here from the start :p
man I have been bamboozled tricked betrayed everything in one podcast I came here after watching the shorts even in the comment section of that shorts people were saying it is so sad and I fell for that
Future topic pitches: - Books (plz!) Favs, least favs, ones that you wish were adapted and how you would do it - your comedy influences (people, media, tv etc.) - what's something you've already wanted to try/do but never have?
Honestly Shane, I used to do plenty of Gymnastics when I was younger and could never achieve the splits, though I always wanted to learn. Your experience has motivated me to give it a shot! Keep going at it, whether it is inconsistent or not. You got this!
i live in houston and have been in therapy since i was a kid so when amanda said Berne brown i couldn’t help an eye roll. she’s lovely and so smart but every therapist in houston gives you berne brown homework and shoves it down your throat like you’ve never heard her before. she’s brilliant and there’s a reason why people love her but i can only be told to watch her ted talk as therapy homework so many times. but it makes so much sense amanda loves her😂
You guys are insane for that last bit. I watched the entire video when it came out, I must’ve forgot about the end bit, AND SAW IT ON TIKTOK AND REWATCHED THE END BIT
Shayne discussing his hopes to create motivation through the podcast from 31:05 to 31:20 is everything. We need more people who motivate and inspire people to do and experience things for the enjoyment of it. Society can make us so focused on achieving and doing for the prestige of all of it, which is so restrictive. It reduces experiences to their monetary value and product value. There is so much more to life than that. I'd love to see Amanda and Shayne use this podcast to explore and try new creative outlets or hobbies they've been intrigued by but never went forward with. They could pick an activity, do it together (or separately), and then use the podcast to discuss the experience, the pros and cons, if they'd do it again, etc. It would be a great way to expose and motivate Smosh Mouth viewers to things they've maybe never considered before.
This is honestly one of my favorite podcasts to watch/listen to. I love how Amanda and Shayne are really taking control and trying different things with it. Having guests on is super fun, but I would honestly love to continue to see some episodes where it is just the two of them talking like this about random stuff.
Shayne, I believe that you can do the splits! I love that you are never going to give up and that you are going to continue working on it no matter how long it takes. Just keep finding whatever stretches work for you either from the internet or friends and you’ll be able to do it. You got this!
Oh my goodness….I saw the RUclips short and have been looking for the evidence in videos. You guys are so bad. Good thing I’ve been watching this podcast. I’m honestly relieved.
this check-in was really fun, and hearing our hosts just randomly talk about podcasts, stories and the like was refreshing & the back and forth natural + inviting (just like ‘lunchtime with smosh’) hope to see more random check ins & chill conversations (whether it’s through reading comments, etc.) in future episodes.
4:25 I feel exactly the same as Shayne. It has been a big obstacle in my social life and I’m still struggling with it. It’s nice to hear that I’m not so alone in feeling this way. Shayne is brave and I admire him for sharing this with us. ❤❤❤ (The sign looks amazing btw!)
Shayne's stretching journey is so inspiring! I had to stop working because of neck pain this summer, and money has been tough. Falling back into depression, it's been harder to motivate myself to stretch. I started doing PT recently, and it's so hard to be both gentle on myself and still feel like I'm achieving anything. Hearing you share your journey, I feel like we are all in this together ♡
Do an episode with guests Damien and Brennan Lee Mulligan and the 4 of you talk about dnd and the things you love differences between new and veteran dnd show DMing, character ideas, and improv in general. Would be amazing.
I really love Smosh mouth, i didn't watch it before because it's not the usual thing i watch and it's also very different from the usual smosh format, and the other day i watched one episode and i really loved it, and this has quickly become in one of my favorite pieces of media, i think shayne and amanda are the perfect pair to have a podcast together, it's so groundings and it feels comforting. And also heating shayne talk about self-isolation actually felt so validation it made me tear up
30:53 Since starting my sitting-all-day office job, my mobility has decreased significantly. I'd really like to start stretching again and exercising more in general. I used to love doing that but I just need to make time for it again. Much love, Smosh Mouth!!
Hey Shayne and Amanda! Just wanted to say that I have loved comedy for years and last week, I was inspired by SmoshMouth and I finally wrote a sketch! Thank you guys so much for sharing how you inspire yourselves. Love you guys!
You have the coziest podcast on earth. This is my new favorite podcast. I’ve been honestly writing down my own comedy bits into a note - I’ve wanted to do stand up for a few years and y’all have been helping me figure out how to craft jokes and “yes and” my friends in conversation to make them laugh.
OMG. I watched the short when it came out and only now after a whole 3 months later did I stumble upon this podcast episode. Ive been deceived. Mind blown. Cant believe everything on the internet!!
Ever since the episode w/ Amanda's old news casting footage, I've wanted to see some the Smosh Improv Team do a full on set of Improvised News related 'games' stuff like 'Weird Newscasters' and the greenscreen 'Reporter in the Field w/ Colin Mochrey' from Whose Line Is It Anyway type games/set-ups, or College Humor/DropOut TV's 'Try Not To Laugh News' stuff where they're fed prompts and lines and characters and have to lean into them without laughing or breaking character, etc. I'll be out walking for exercise and find myself zoning out and making myself laugh out loud, while thinking of stuff like Shayne portraying a news anchor w/ gravitas (AKA Tom Brokaw in his prime, etc) but interviewing Noah who is playing The Easter Bunnies PR Rep who is trying to deal with the fallout over the breaking news - "Cadbury Bunny has been murdered and the Easter Bunny is allegedly the prime suspect!" and other silly stuff like that.
YALL, I watched half this podcast then went about my life and saw the short of Shayne talking about almost being a main on icarly & I wALKED AWAY THINKING ABOUT IT LOL like I genuinely going about my day like ‘man that must be challenging for Shayne, like what a change that would’ve been, think of the possibilities pffft I cANT
The fake clip idea is genius! You should do the check ins ever like 5 or 10 episodes for milestones/checkpoints. You should come up with code words for the clip for those who watched the podcast
i've never really been a believer in any kind of destiny, but this podcast has come in such a perfect time in my life. i'm an artist, and for the past year i've been struggling with motivation more than ever. for two of my favourite creators to come together and provide such amazing insight into their own struggles and creative processes is a serious blessing. thank you guys for giving me the strength to love what i do
LMAO the bit is the reason I came to watch this episode, they got me. I definitely thought Shayne seemed more affected by it than I expected him to be at this stage in his life. But they acted it so well.
That’s crazy, I actually just passed a certification I’ve been studying the longest for and just so happened to watch this podcast episode the day of. Goal achieved!
the beginning of this episode where Shayne is talking about the isolation caused by the negative thoughts in his head has stuck with me all day since first watching this. I've been going through a very rough and tumultuous time in my life and this podcast and smosh in general has been my escape, and that made me feel very not alone in one of the biggest struggles I've been dealing with. sincerely, from the bottom of my heart and with all of my soul, thank you so much Shayne for your words and all of smosh for simply making funnies that I can distract myself with. 🩷🩷

The end of the episode- “So we’ve created a multiverse of lies”
So good

Another important point about No Such Thing As a Fish is that it's by the QI Elves. QI is a British panel show where contestants are quizzed about obscure facts and the Elves are the researchers for the show.
“Some people bring warmth wherever they go, they have a special light within them.”
This quote definitely applies to Shayne 😊
I'd love to listen to a podcast about psychology from Shayne, like he has such good takes on things I could just listen to him explain this generations psychological issues for hours.
No other podcast makes me cry laugh as often as The Basement Yard. The poptart incident is an all timer, as is "our father who does art in Heaven"
My favorite is probably the basement yard, and Shayne absolutely NAILED that impression
holy fucking shit,, I came from the Shayne and Ian not getting along short and I was so fucking shocked dude
It’s a little scary how much I related to shayne with the self-isolation from my anxiety. It’s great to have the feeling so eloquently spoken out loud, I could never really figure out a way to explain it to others
I actually love pulling a prank on those who don’t watch the podcast
Shayne's Basement Yard impression is so spot on it's incredible
I love this podcast because it feels like I'm sitting at a dining room table in a childhood home listening to friends talk and just hang out. There's something really comforting and nostalgic? about it that I really like.
After hearing you guys talk about motivation, it’s inspiring me to try and find fulfillment in the hobbies that I used to enjoy… art, building legos, and finally finishing my cat’s outdoor screened patio.
I don’t know why we get caught up in being scared to start the things that we love, but hearing you both talk about it makes it seem less overwhelming.
Thanks Shayne and Amanda!
Shayne’s description of Basement Yard is literally SPOT ON! I love both podcasts!!💕
I love Shayne and Amanda’s chemistry. They are the duo I never knew I needed!!! ❤
Amanda character idea: a sassy lighthouse that helps guide ships but also makes fun of ships or tourists on the beach when they do silly stuff
And complains that she could have been the statue of liberty if she only had the body type 😂
OHMG i totally understand realizing the personal benefits of stretching and wanting to commit. shane's stretching/splits conversation is inspiring me to go to the gym when every episode of Smosh Mouth comes out so then i hAVE to go to listen to yall. never had someone explicitly talk abt how they're trying something they believe in and hoping to be able to inspire others so we better eachother, together! being genuine and honest; serious but light-hearted-- slay. love this podcast and excited to be here from the start :p
man I have been bamboozled tricked betrayed everything in one podcast I came here after watching the shorts even in the comment section of that shorts people were saying it is so sad and I fell for that
Future topic pitches:
- Books (plz!) Favs, least favs, ones that you wish were adapted and how you would do it
- your comedy influences (people, media, tv etc.)
- what's something you've already wanted to try/do but never have?
Shayne’s been saying he wants to do the splits since a SmoshCast years ago! Glad to see that’s still going
Joe and Frankie would SO come on as guests on smosh mouth! I would watch that episode over and over!
Shayne talking about the splits for an hour is exactly what I come here for
4:25 I feel exactly the same as Shayne. It has been a big obstacle in my social life and I’m still struggling with it. It’s nice to hear that I’m not so alone in feeling this way. Shayne is brave and I admire him for sharing this with us. ❤❤❤
(The sign looks amazing btw!)
52:16 hell yeah, that is such a good impression haha, love the basement yard pod
Do an episode with guests Damien and Brennan Lee Mulligan and the 4 of you talk about dnd and the things you love differences between new and veteran dnd show DMing, character ideas, and improv in general. Would be amazing.
Love seeing Shayne’s pitch of “Smosh Mouth” finally becoming a thing after he mentioned it in passing on the first Show With No Name episode 😂
You guys should do an episode with Spencer about video games that defined you guys! Like childhood games!

Yes! More Spenner content
Shaynes explanation and impression of the basement yard podcast was just spot on - love it
48:00 my Greek ass sitting here smiling, giddy af during this conversation 🤣🇬🇷🇨🇾❤️
OMG. I watched the short when it came out and only now after a whole 3 months later did I stumble upon this podcast episode. Ive been deceived. Mind blown. Cant believe everything on the internet!!
You have your sign!!!! It looks fabulous. I love Mondays with Smosh Mouth :)
Between The Basement Yard and Smosh Mouth, my Monday is always filled with laughter! ❤
I'll be out walking for exercise and find myself zoning out and making myself laugh out loud, while thinking of stuff like Shayne portraying a news anchor w/ gravitas (AKA Tom Brokaw in his prime, etc) but interviewing Noah who is playing The Easter Bunnies PR Rep who is trying to deal with the fallout over the breaking news - "Cadbury Bunny has been murdered and the Easter Bunny is allegedly the prime suspect!" and other silly stuff like that.
omg a whose line is it type thing with smosh would be fucking amazing
Whose Line would be awesome!
When talking about therapy gecko I thought for a second Shayne was going to say “and obviously he’s not a real gecko” 😂
Really loving SMOSH MOUTH 🙌 Quickly becoming my favorite podcast to tune into
Edit: STAGED SHORTS YES 😂
i've never really been a believer in any kind of destiny, but this podcast has come in such a perfect time in my life. i'm an artist, and for the past year i've been struggling with motivation more than ever. for two of my favourite creators to come together and provide such amazing insight into their own struggles and creative processes is a serious blessing. thank you guys for giving me the strength to love what i do
LMAO the bit is the reason I came to watch this episode, they got me.
