Omg!!! You've actually SAVED my life. I even contemplated getting someone out to do it for me. The charge would have been £25 and then they started recommending a new toilet seat when mine works perfectly fine. Just needed tightening. Thank you soooo much. Definitely will give you a follow
Thank-you so much for this video. I am a 46 year old woman who just fixed a wonky loo seat. Easy instructions. I really appreciate your effort to show how this is done. I am your number one fan!
Thank you. Problem solved. Took more than five minutes. First my seat had two horizontal silver buttons. Secondly the caps didn’t just pop off after seven years I had to persevere to get a knife blade just to lift the cap without levering the pin assembly upwards. Finally I realised that leaving the seat central was important so I had to release the other pin/cap loosen the tight bolt and position both before retightening. Piece of cake once you know how 😃. Thanks again
Thank you so much!!! I’ve had a wobbly toilet seat for almost a year and I fixed it today - all by myself thanks to your video! Who says a woman can’t be handy?!
And this is why I love RUclips. Our new home has top fixing soft closers that were starting to move around like no-one’s business. Although not the same fixings, your concise and watchable tutorial helped me discover two buttons and ta da! No more moving seats, both are now properly aligned, and I can get in to clean them. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you! Can’t believe it’s this easy and now I know the best hack ever for cleaning. So dumb that I never knew I could take the seat off so easily. In return, here’s a tip: if you sit on the aisle row of a plane and the handle annoys you because it’s fixed, there is a button under the handle near the seat that, when pressed, allows you to LIFT the handle. You can now get in and out without climbing over!
Thank you so much, so friendly, simple easy instructions to follow. After ages of a wonky seat, waiting for someone to slide into the wall, woo hoo fixed in a couple of minutes, you made it so simple to do. Yipee. Can't thank you enough. Heather, Mansfield Vic. Aust.
Thank you so much. I have no skill what so ever. i fixed it from 4 mins into the video with no problems. I am so happy. I really appreciate you doing this video.
Thank you so much man! I’ve been twisting the screw thing instead of the other thing. You are the best. It’s been getting to me for some time now and i just couldn’t figure it out. You’re the bestttt for this!!! Nothing more irks me than a loose seat. 😡😤
Thank you, I have a toilet similar to the second one, and this morning the toilet seat detached. I thought this was going to be a difficult thing to fix, but this video helped tremendously.
Fun fact: Underneath the cap there are two holes with rubber tubes inserted. At the bottom of each tube is a bolt used for fixing the screws. Don't unscrew your screws too far or the bolts will fall into the body of the toilet! Live and learn. Bunnings Warehouse has replacement kits that include all the parts in a single kit.
You're genius I'm not one to be able to really do these stuff but your explanation and demonstration was really excellent thank you...btw I followed the first video
Followed the great instructions and example and all done successfully. Would like to see the video re-shot with rusty fixings and how to get them off. Thanks
Great video! Useful to know there's two types. Just have a question if you don't mind? We have the bottom type of fixing which has plastic nuts and I just cannot access them enough to tighten properly. It gets to the point where the bolt and nut are turning together which is when I stop. What would you recommend to try and grip the plastic nuts? I did buy a specialist plastic tool but unfortunately it is too thick to get between the nut and the pan! Any ideas? Thanks very much.
Thank you for a very helpful and informative video. My toilet seat was like the second one you showed, but, although it was wobbly, I couldn't run any of the nuts off to get the size so as to set the jaws on my adjustable wrench. I ended up using a 13mm tubular box spanner - easy to find at Screwfix etc, and that did the job ok. I thought the photos, especially the ones of the inaccessible underside of the WC pan, were first class. Cheers, and take care, from Greater Manchester.
Yes, it's easy peasy. Done it that way many times with both the top and bottom type. . . . . And after a few weeks they start to move again, so how do you prevent that? I've Googled it and many supposed experts recommend adhesive washers. Trouble is, nowhere in the UK seems to stock adhesive washers. Only place I've come across which makes them seems to be in the USA. Now I'm just waiting to hear if they ship to the UK.
Thank you so much. I'm a total DIY idiot and this video proved invaluable in helping to fix our toilet seat. Until I saw it I couldn't even figure out how to take it off. Keep up the great week and stay safe.
In my experience the plastic butterfly screw wears out. I usually add an additional metal washer and screw, effectively making the butterfly a washer. Also have a theory - use a cork from a wine bottle, pared down to fit inside the porcelain hole and a hole to allow the fixing through. This should stop the wobbling when the fixings are no longer fully functioning.
Thank you for this helpful video and making the effort to capture those tiny spaces with the camera, so we know what we're doing. Gonna try to tighten my own toilet now!
Dude. Thank you! I’ve been fighting with a toilet seat for weeks trying to muscle my way under the seat and low and behold that ugly chrome thing on the bottom of the seat was a button. If y’all ever come to the states let me know and I owe you a beer if you’re in the northeast. I was ready to smash this bit with a sledgehammer
Thanks for taking the time to help people. My problem is in the nylon washer splitting and therefore repeatedly loosening. How can I get this problem fixed as is a bit dangerous in middle of night when seat moves dramatically.
Hi Sasha. You could stick it down but you'll then have issues when you eventually try to replace it. Probably best to purchase a new seat and preferably a branded seat which will have sturdy fixings.
You've been incredibly a lot of help in my home, I can't thank you enough!!! Question is there anything that could be done to keep the screws from rusting so quickly on the toilet seat I was afraid of oil or any type of Grease afraid that it might loosen the screws defeating the purpose in the first place?
I have a problem with the wobbling seat cover of our urinary bowl. it is similar to the 1st tutorial you demonstrated where the one you demonstrated has a snap button at the middle to unlock it whereas in my case, it has no snap button. any other demo on this kind of urinary bowl and how to unlock it?
Hiya, I’ve tightened mine. Came loose again after not long. I’ve bought a replacement seat, and I tighten it and the bolt just never seems to tighten fully. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😊
I need to replace the hinges on toilet seat as one of the chrome tops has broken dure to a wobbly seat. but I need to know what screwdriver to use to get screws out. looks like a cross but phillips not working.
I've just fitted a new toilet seat because the old one was here before we moved in and basically disintegrated. I've tightened it all up but it still moves, I've been given the fittings in with the loo seat but they are plastic, could this be the source of the problem? (P.S. I've never fitted a toilet seat before)
I had to fix a similar seat but I had a big problem my screws were rusty so I had to use a hacksaw to cut one off and repl with another screw and toggle set and then I found that the screw or bolt in my case was too long and ended up cutting it to size
Thanks tons for posting this, I have 3 bowls coving both methods. My newest one uses the push button but the screws are this crappy allen wrench "star" design. Thanks again.
My toilet seat has not closed properly for ten years and I just fixed it in 5 minutes with this video! Thank you so much.

Thanks for this instructional video. I watched the video and fixed my "wonky loo seat" in less then 90 seconds! George from Seattle

Perfect thanks for this. Had no idea what to do with my wonky seat, been annoying me for a couple of weeks couldn't believe it was a 2 minute job.
Thanks broski, you made my day. I could not figure out how to get to the screws. You saved the day!
Thank you for the instructions, so clear and simple when explained. Was thinking I needed a plumber so you have saved me the cost of that as well.
I really appreciate people like you! This was so easy and handy!!
Thank you! Exactly what I needed to fix my seat.

You're very welcome.
As Soon As You Pointed To The "Button", I Had It Figured Out. Thanks
Very clear visual and good instruction.
That was great. Well explained. Saved money from the expensive plumbing job. Thanks buddy.
Thank you, I have a toilet similar to the second one, and this morning the toilet seat detached.
I thought this was going to be a difficult thing to fix, but this video helped tremendously.
I'm glad it helped Nicole.
As soon as I showed my wife she started taking the seat off to clean the toilet.
@@bathroomplumbingandfitting7089 I went and checked my mum's bathroom and cleaned under it too. Thank you again

Been sliding about on my toilet seat for a month or so now.... all sorted now 👍 thank you 😊
Thanks very much, I was wondering how to tighten my toilet seat as there was no access behind it... now I know why!!
Job done! Am like a god in the eyes of the missus!! Thanks.
Thank you for solving one of my life's great mysteries.
Hello! Thank you for the video, do you have any advice if the metal cap doesn’t come off (as demonstrated at around 3:51 in video)?
Thanks a lot for your video. The instructions were very clear and I managed to sort my wobbly toilet seat.
You're genius I'm not one to be able to really do these stuff but your explanation and demonstration was really excellent thank you...btw I followed the first video
No way, never knew the West Ham fan channel bloke would of come up! Thanks mate! COYI ⚒️
Followed the great instructions and example and all done successfully. Would like to see the video re-shot with rusty fixings and how to get them off. Thanks
Use a bit of viniger it's a slight acid that will eat through the rust. Making it easier to take out.
Thanks for this. Very helpful 👍🏼
Thank you! Really clear instructions, and presented in a friendly (and caring!) way, with extra helpful details.

Thank you so much! Recently got the modern one piece and couldn't figure out how to re tighten. You're a lifesaver!
thank you for your help
Thanx a lot. Before, I was trying all kind of stunts but this made it so easy.
This was super helpful thank you very much
You fixed my problem. Now I don’t have to beg my hubby to do it.
That was great did not know what that centre plate was all about. Thanks Bob from Kent England.

Thanks for posting this simple and easy to understand video that shows how to fix a wobbly toilet seat with the new (to me) style attachment!
legend. I fixed it within 1minute after watching your video. thanks!
My seat had 2 buttons on LH and RH side. Press them both together and it released the seat.
Thanks for video...problem solved 👍
Thank you so much. I'm a total DIY idiot and this video proved invaluable in helping to fix our toilet seat. Until I saw it I couldn't even figure out how to take it off. Keep up the great week and stay safe.
Thanks for this! My boyfriend and I just had a wild Friday night, fixing the toilet seat. Appreciate ya!
😂 Pleased to be of assistance.
NICE REFRESHER COURSE !
Thanks so much I fixed my broke toilet within 5 mins after months of it being broke 💕
I replaced the studs on the 2nd toilet seat to 316 marine grade stainless and 316 wing nuts, never had them go rusty
With mine, plastic part that receives the screw spins in place when I try to tighten the screw down, so cannot tighten it.
In my experience the plastic butterfly screw wears out. I usually add an additional metal washer and screw, effectively making the butterfly a washer.

@@bathroomplumbingandfitting7089 - Thanks will do. It was new but think the installer must have tightened the seal till it broke.
Awesome, helped massively s mine is the first type in a rented house, was half way taking the wooden boxing off around pipes behind
Cheers mate, very good and clear instructions.
Thank you so much. You have just saved my day.
Fantastic video exactly the problem I had and and spent ages trying to fix from underneath! All sorted thanks👍👍👍👍
I've tried to do mine toilet seat but its still moving. Have you any further advice please that can try.
Perfect. Thanks for the tip. Fixed my loo seat tonight.

Hiya, I’ve tightened mine. Came loose again after not long.
I’ve bought a replacement seat, and I tighten it and the bolt just never seems to tighten fully. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😊
Thank you very clear instructions
Thanks this is wonderful. I have the second toilet type and was stuck and did not know how to tighten the seat. I do now...
Easy when you know how. I'm glad I found this video. Thank you.
The second toilet seat you tighten is the one that I have.
How do you tighten it if you have not got a wrench?
I need to replace the hinges on toilet seat as one of the chrome tops has broken dure to a wobbly seat. but I need to know what screwdriver to use to get screws out. looks like a cross but phillips not working.

Thanks so much!! I’ve successfully fixed my wobbly toilet seat thanks to you!!! God bless you. Brilliant video tutorial!!
thanks, for the hidden fixtures tip
What about when the toilet bowl has only rear opening & NO room to fix nuts to seat. Do you have to remove the whole thing from wall to fix?
Great video, really clear and helpful, toilet seat now fixed! 😁
I had to fix a similar seat but I had a big problem my screws were rusty so I had to use a hacksaw to cut one off and repl with another screw and toggle set and then I found that the screw or bolt in my case was too long and ended up cutting it to size

Thank u for this. Finally, I got my wobbly toilet seat fixed.
🙌😏
Thankyou, so simple when you know how.
great instructions easy to do thank you
So under the silver cap there was a tightening screw? Who knew? This video did! Thank you, saved me from buying a new damn seat. 😄
Good video but problem is constant recurring loosness. Have ti to tighten up every 2/3 days. Will Trey top fixing . Thanks
However often I tiiighten the screw on the top fixer, it is loose within days. Tried plumbers tape on the screw still no good. Any ideas please?
Thanks for this! Very helpful.
How funny is that?I came on here to fix a wobbly toilet seat and there's Gonzo staring me in the boat race!
COY ⚒
Really useful, very helpful thanks
Great video thanks! Was wondering how I was going to fix mine, now I know!
Thank you I fixed my toilet seat from ur instructions! You saved me from calling for a plumber :-)
Worked. Thanks
Right, what do you do if your toilet seat doesn't have that button but the rest looks the same?
But what does the screw screw in to?? What’s underneath it!
What about plastic bolts I seem to tighten them by hand 6 times a day what can I do the toilet shifts to one side
Your after solving a BIG problem for me never knew what that button inn middle of seat was for tks
Got the seat off but no little screws to tighten. Any ideas ?
great video, showed me exactly what to do, fantastic! Many thanks
Any advise if plastic washer and wingnut fittings? We seem unable to tighten the darn thing😟
Thank you
I’ve just tightened the second type of toilet you have and it still wobbles. Can you please advise?
Me too, got a seat in b+q and no matter how tight its gets it slips
