    This is amazing, close my eyes & feels like I’m in Escape From New York. Is this all SS3.? Any outboard effects.?

    • @didiercottet8207
      @didiercottet8207  2 года назад +2

      Thanks a lot! Yes, it's a one-take with the SS3 only, recorded on three separate tracks with Ableton Live. The DFAM plays the FM bass sound and has slight EQing, a bit of ping pong delay from Ableton and reverb from Valhalla Supermassive. The Subharmonicon plays the SAW bass, also with some EQing, ping pong delay and Supermassive reverb. The M32 plays the melody with a PW-modulated square and with Valhalla SpaceModulator chorus and Supermassive reverb.
      Unfortunately, I didn't write down the patching, but I could try to recreate from the video material.

    so cool. everything is being played by these three instruments? or there is some other keyboard also playing?

    • @didiercottet8207
      @didiercottet8207  2 года назад +7

      Thanks so much! Yes, it’s just the three modules playing, no other sound sources or sequencers. A bit of delays, reverb, EQ and panning to complete the mix.

      @@didiercottet8207 just curious how people do this. Did you have effects pedals or did you do all that in your DAW?

      @@toddkitta I don‘t have any hardware pedals, only plugins in Ableton Live. In a recent post, I‘ve deconstructed one of my tracks to show the post-processing done in the DAW: ruclips.net/video/38qS81rD6iw/видео.html
      This however requires an audio interface with at least three separate input channels for recording and processing on separate tracks. I‘m using a Scarlet 6i6.
      Hope that helps🎶

    Sounds good, document the patch and add it to a collective database so it can be expanded upon.

      Thanks. Unfortunately I don’t have that patch anymore. However, in my later posts I started adding links to PDFs showing the used patch.

      @@didiercottet8207 Noted. Just what I hope is constructive feedback for the future. If we document what we do and share it, future audionaughts can build on it and stand on the shoulders of greatness... lol.

    awesome work - in what order is your favourite (DFAM, Subharmonic, M32) modular synth?

    • @didiercottet8207
      @didiercottet8207  4 месяца назад

      Thanks! Very good question…
      I think they really belong together. There are so many cool Eurorack modules out there that can do similar things, but there is something that makes the Moog Sound Studio 3 very unique: its sound and its combination of features (including its missing features) force you into modular thinking and in creating new things. Before having them, I played with virtual modular synths, where you have immediate access to unlimited modules. But the only thing I did, was to re-create ‚classical‘ synths…
      It was with the MSS3 that I discovered modulated modulation, audio rate modulation, modulated sequence start/stop, etc.
      Hence, I‘m very glad that I entered the non-virtual modular world with these three modules together, and therefore I cannot name a favorite.
