    Me searching for the best smoke detector and look who pops up. Lol. Thanks.

    You need to burn some bacon and see if it sets it off. LOL

      The wife’s bacon is way too good to waste it like that. Lol

    Nest smoke detectors will tell you which room the fire/smoke is in from every detector in your house.

    Too bad it isn't Matter supported. We could get it into Apple Home that way. Did the company say they would support Matter in the future?

      It is too bad. No mention of Matter support (as of now anyway).

    I love my nest protect but hate the fact Google screwed nest up and fragmented nest. Having to use 2 apps (nest and Google home) is aggravating

    I'm afraid that Homekit (and my wifi network) are just too unreliable to trust such a life-critical function to.

      This still works like a “dumb” detector. The smart features are just an added level.

    I love the fact that Nest Cams and Home Pod have the ability to listen for the sound, however, I prefer to use actual smart detectors because I like the extra settings you can get. I still use the Nest Protects and love the heads up ability, nightly promise, and to be able to view the active status and battery of the unit. I still use the Nest Cams and my Home Pod Mini for notifications as well. If I ever have a fire I will get 3 different notifications lol.

      Definitely nothing wrong with being double or triple protected. The Nest Protects are holding up quite well in the tech world. Not too many tech devices that have stayed relevant as long as they have.

    I was actually working on a video about air quality and then this product showed up. Many municipalities have requirements around placement of CO & smoke detectors

      That’s a great video idea.

    Hey 🦄, I was watching another one of my channels and found out something I wanted to ask you about. Her name is Michelle Rovedatti-Griffith. She was talking about a cancer detection test. Have you heard of this? I go to my pcp tomorrow and I’m gonna ask him. My daughters, an RN and a lab tech, neither one know about it. Supposed to be better than scans through a simple blood draw. Signatera 🦊🙏😘

      @GeorgeLangabeer  Год назад +1

      I have heard of it. It’s a test that uses DNA to check for residual disease. It’s an option for me, but my oncologist still thinks a PET Scan is the most accurate way “to light it up” & determine if I still have “no evidence of disease”. So a PET scan is next for me, as soon as I finish my 11 cycles of chemo (2nd week in June).

      That’s very interesting… with all the cancer in my family I will be checking into this further. Thanks!

    If you want to safely test you detectors, they make smoke and CO detector test cans. Amazon and many safety suppliers sell them.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  Год назад +1

      Yeah, that’s how I did test them. But that’s not a real world test.

    Question: If you're pairing it to you phone, does that mean you only get alarms when your phone is in the apartment, or is it paired "to your network"? If I pair it to my iPhone, for instance, does that mean my iPad will also get the alarms? If I'm at work (and have my iPhone at work), will I get a report of the smoke alarm bounced to my iPhone via my iPad (which remains at home)?
    This looks pretty interesting. While I like the *idea* of HomePods listening for alarms from stand-alone detectors, I'd rather have specific sensors in specific rooms. If a sensor goes off in my office or bedroom then I'll be *much* more interested in that than an alarm going off in my kitchen. And right now I have just one HomePod mini for my entire house. I'll get a HomePod soon, but even then that's just one HomePod for the entire first floor of my house, and the HomePod mini for the entire second floor. It'll be hard to pinpoint which smoke detector is sounding an alarm. And it'll be cheaper to buy multiple smoke/CO detectors than buying a HomePod for every room.
    Also I also like the idea of monitoring and tracking specific numbers (CO levels) instead of just the blunt "YOUR HOUSE MIGHT BE BURNING DOWN RIGHT NOW!" marker. Several times I've had neighbors who like to do bonfires of logs during evenings in the summer.

      Yeah, I agree with all the above. We’re not to the point where these can be replaced completely, YET, but we’re going to get there.
