Removing Barriers To Second Chances | Panel #1

This panel is a deep dive into the Adult Expungement Reform Act (Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 37), which the General Assembly passed in June 2019. This act expands eligibility for expungement, a process in which qualifying criminal records can be wiped clean without a pardon. In some cases, the expungement will be mandatory, while in others the expungement is at the discretion of the courts.
