@@CarsOnGaming i can fully agree, i've been someone that has started asphalt 8 in 2017, back when it's alleged downfall began - since i didn't own most of the cars, i couldn't get a single special event finished, not to mention i wasn't as active in the game as i am with asphalt unite. i'm absolutely baffled you have almost 400 cars when i struggled to get less than 80 in my lifetime of playing the game, tons of horrid changes came to it in the past 6 years including bugs that make the game unplayable and the complete rework of all car stats. this game should have been left in a legacy-like state much like the games before it, rather than - as you said - making it an ad billboard (the menu looks horrible with how much bloat is present on it)

I left A8 long ago & it’s sad to see what’s happened to this game, they even removed my favourite song (Over it by The Crystal Method) because the license for that expired too 😭 I have Asphalt 8+ on Apple Arcade & that manages to capture some of the magic we got from old Asphalt 8, no fusion coins, no p2w, even no blue tokens, & it actually gives a lot of credits from racing, so you can actually get the highest S classes like the P1 GTR, Trion & D16 Prototype. Then blasting around Sector 8 or Area 51 or the newer Terra 9 & Orbital loop tracks in the S classes is just nostalgic I wish they’d add the fantasy A8 tracks to ALU (Sector 8 Terra 9 etc)

Oh wow. This game which I had already long forgotten, is now doing this sh!t. I started playing in 2015 or something, and I lost my progress somewhere around 2023. This was when I realized that spending more time on this game would be a really bad choice as it was already going (very predictably) on the roller coaster to downfall. I wish I had quit sooner. But, it was fun while it lasted. Cheers.

I play this game when I was in high school and university since I am a fan of the 'Asphalt' series. I even played the game during the pandemic when lockdown measures were in place. But nowadays, I only play that game whenever another Asphalt content creator 'feuerrm' plays casually on his livestream for multiplayer selfie races. Other than that, I just don't open the game. I subscribed to you during the time you were an Asphalt 8 content creator, but with your shift to Asphalt Legends Unite, I followed suit and played the latest Asphalt game more. I kind of feel sad where this 11-year-old game is going. Thank you for looking back on this long-running game.
Back in 2013, my dad bought me a brand new iPad Air (1st gen) for my 15th birthday. I saw an Asphalt 8 ad earlier on RUclips and wanted to try the game, so I downloaded it. Between 2015-2018 there was a seaside garage background, it was so refreshing and with the garage music back then, I could do homework while opening the garage mode and watch the cinematic view for hours. I quit Asphalt 8 in 2019 to pursue my educational career. I had almost all Class D, C and B cars, and a few Class A cars. When I downloaded A8 again in 2022, half of them were gone. Aston Martin DB9, Maserati GranTurismo, Tesla Model S, etc. The only evidence of old A8 I had left was a footage of the Great Wall map classic race with my maxed out Maserati GT. I'm still playing A8 to this day, but it just doesn't feel the same as 5-6 years ago. It felt like a different game. A pay-to-win gambling game. I want 2013-2018 Asphalt 8: Airborne back.
@@EduAlves-Œø I’ve got Asphalt 8+, it’s better than normal asphalt 8, but there is no multi player tuning and there is only like 1500 people compete in events so it feels kind of desolate 😢
Ironically, they, Gameloft Barcelona, developing Asphalt 9 China with adding many great features like Treasure Hunt, Orchid Beauty, and Mastery (also even unique Animated Decals and Nitro Effects), while for Asphalt 8, they added nothing but trash like useless offers and unchallenging way to get most of the vehicles.
There was a time when I started playing the game again after leaving it for a few years, but it felt really different and dissatisfying. Fusion coins, credits losing their value, and CARS NO LONGER HAVING UNIQUE RANKS made the game feel like a major downgrade from the endless memories it created for me. Then I quit again and came back years later for the second time. Only thing that kept me playing was how skilled I became during that time and my desire to keep my skills refined.
Just few minutes ago i was playing it but it started to give me advertisement which I F####ng CAN NOT SKIP... then 10 minutes after I stopped playing it.
It's just sad that this game is d**d, long gone. This game made my childhood, I can't forget those days, singing asphalt 8 songs all day in school and rushing back home to play A8, they were my golden days. Nothing mattered to me in life except for asphalt 8. Fast forward to 2020 when I downloaded this game again, it's no more the same It's really sad, I still have it in my phone out of respect for the game that gave me everything but it's d**d inside
It’s sad to see that Gameloft is making A8 more and more difficult to progress with newer game modes, past features being lost, additional currencies replacing existing ones, and lack of any new locations that might bring more players to check in. It does also worry me that the Switch platform before Legends Unite was a decent place to enjoy starting out, even though it was 1 year behind. Back in August, when the info on the update, I was happy to see it finally getting the same support as all of the other platforms, but with the vouchers it has, along with PlayStation, I really hope the fate on this platform won’t be way worse than A8, since this is the platform I started with back in 2019 and had me a small escape from the pandemic.
You're wrong. The game is much easier to progress in than in 2022. With tokens being able to be received for free again, if you save them up you can now get any non-ultimate car in the game if you save up enough and they go on sale, and over the past few months there have been some events such as the cake hunt and the Halloween event where you could get insane rewards. The game is different to what it was in years such as 2017, but it's better than what it was 1 or 2 years ago and I've partially returned to it because of that.
@@WayneKerr69420 If you're talking about credits than they're really easy to get now which means that 1 million isn't that much + they aren't that useful in 2024 so no wonder you can't use them. Tokens and fusion coins are the most important currencies. Tokens were impossible to get as f2p players for years but this year there was an update which made gauntlet races and mp races now give you tokens. If you get all your daily tokens you can save them up and get really good cars for free now, which makes the game much better than in 2022. And finally, the Halloween and cake hunt events were so f2p friendly that I managed to win an S class car in the Halloween event after not playing the game for a month.
This is one of my childhood games and it really is sad that this is pretty much the state of the game. Honestly it might have been better for Gameloft to just stop updating it and leave it instead of making it worse.

I used to play a lot Asphalt 8 in 2013-2016, starting again some years later and it's extremely sad to see the current state, i don't play it since 2022....
gg homie i been playing on and off every couple years ever since like freshman year in high school and this was the worst return I've made as well :( basically nothing new and the removal of the ability to purchase an cars in game with in game currency at all. they're like $15-80 per car. credits are useless now and they added more career missions that you can only do with cars you cant even buy anymore lmfao its so sad to see my favorite mobile game crash into pieces/ i love you all and i hope one day they would remaster it and add new maps and music. Or some sort of miracle might happen where they come back but it definitely doesn't seem like it.
You know, back on November 2023, I got banned (permanently) on this game and it really hit me since I been grinding for two years 24/7 as a F2W player just for it to be lost. Now after seeing this video, i have no regrets. I thought this game had potential ever since i played it back in 2013 when i was around 6 or 7, then replayed it in 2021 ever since i got the free Bugatti Chiron. But now after seeing this, i realized it was a waste of time anyways. Thank you @CarsOnGaming for comforting me for this video made my day!
@@JustDeony I feel ya buddy, i was also a F2P in A8 because i also grinded for cars like veneno when they weren't outlandishly priced by tokens and because of that token price change they took away my veneno and slapped a new token price on just about every other lamborghini in the game, i promptly stopped playing because of that disrespect. Gameloft also has no idea how to do a brand proper justice, as audi, alpine and even BMW are quite a few brands that are really cooking now but because Gameloft doesn't know how to give appropriate stats, Audi most likely denied them licences for ALU because how Gameloft implemented their cars and we don't see any of their cool concept cars in the game💀 I have spent in ALU just on unite fund as it's quite recommended for cheap and sometimes unite pass when a cool car does come up but yeah don't ever spend money on the bundles or anything else

@@JustDeony you could try a few substitutes for Asphalt like real racing and CSR also try switching to other genres like flight sims and fps shooters but I'll rather recommend you save up enough for pc build and enjoy games like Forza and crew motor fest, they are paid but far better and more fun than Asphalt can ever hope to be. There's also a particular game i enjoy more called simple planes on both android and PC, where you can build your own planes and share it across it's community, it's also paid but just for a few bucks and it's really fun and boosts creativity and the community is still active.
Man I remember this game I started playing it back in 2020 or 2021 it was a fun game it was full of players but now it's going to become a dead game I remember that I left this game because a glitch happened in my account and credits were in negative almost to -13 million credits and that's when I switched to asphalt 9
Asphalt 8 in it's current state is sad. It's really hard to obtain cars you have a desire for because of blue tokens and only being their for only so little of a time. It really sucks since it's became more ptw (pay to win) and the tokens just ruin everything. Quite sad. Keep the new cars, get ride of the tokens, and get rid of anything that takes a stupid long time to achieve.
Don't feel sad cuz it's ending, feel happy cuz it happened is something that is painfully true for Asphalt 8, I rmb playing it back in 2013 as a kid and leaving in 2015, only to come back on 2020 to see it go to waste, at least I could still enjoy the game, now it has zero progession for newer players and the game's just repetitive as well. I don't see the game lasting another 5 years with the fact that there's nothing for newer players, people will just leave the game on a sour note. At least we got some drama at its dying stages like ur drama with Aditya lol
It is a harsh reality, being a veteran since 2017, I was lucky enough to try and see the game on the brand new Windows 8. Part of my account and that I had the Xbox Live services, I loved it since I could play on another PC with my account, but when they removed that service, I lost that account and all the progress, I had even completed the story and had an inventory of 800 seats and a lot of money when even the cards when they were sold gave a considerable amount, the original cars with inflation, class drops, my zone that was class A was lowered to B and once to C, it was a total shame. Then what to take away how good the system of cars to plans was, or the specific improvements of the pro kits, such as engines of all kinds, technologies and plans for motorcycles and cars that in the end did not cost enough to obtain... the I didn't have a problem with tokens, in the motoblitz you could get 100, the same thing when the car mastery thing was still around, which is what I miss even more, even worse when they removed the rock songs
a8 is long way dead. the devs don't care for the game anymore. its just them trying to milk the last bit of cash possible from this game. updates are repetitive. theres a stupid gambling system to unlock cars. i miss rnds more tha anything. they removed so many OG things from the game like collections, mastery, etc etc. the only way to experience old a8 is pretty much from modded apks that you play once in a while
Man , the whole reason why I started regularly playing Asphalt 8 Airborne and Asphalt Legends Unite is because of your content ! I have been here since you won the jesko for an art challenge in A8 , but its sad to see A8 dying these days... To be fair , A8 has been dead ever since 2023 , with cars being only available in Tier 15 ( A bad car) and then you need to pay for a good car in the premium tier..... I feel like the game would get discontinued in like 2025/2026 , as nowadays the only things I see is a heck ton of ad offers (you need to watch up to 60 ads per day just to get 2 car boxes) thanks for the video !
Yea… it’s really sad to see asphalt 8 die because it’s a big part of my childhood and teenhood and being back a lot of memories and I kept hearing about it possibly going to die and it really looks like it is now unfortunately, a8 used to be a great game now it’s just unfortunately a desperate cash grab for them before they decide to shut it down😢

Well this was my favourite game of my young ages .You can't expect a 2012 game to keep alive anymore. It has had its time and reign .It's been a fabulous game of its time and even after its time .
My friend, I appreciated you and the content you provided for the beloved game Asphalt 8. Honestly, this is sad, and I hope the game and its strategy improve for the better. You know, I was also saddened by the removal of B.VGT, but there's nothing we can do. When I found out it was going to be removed, I upgraded it and spent resources and credits to fully upgrade it so I could say goodbye to it. It was one of the most beautiful cars. I recently started my own channel for the game, and I was really upset by what you said in the video; honestly, it discouraged me. So, can I continue making content, or should I stop? You left a void; you had your own unique touch, but now you’ve been taken away from us by Asphalt 9.
I play this game since 2016 and THIS IS THE TRUTH!!!! It went worse and worse on every main update. The ability of bulding “your own car” and the drill of competing to chase, step by step, the next dream car (from donkenwoort to bmw SE, to Mercedes SL SE, to Audi R8 SE and so on) are totally gone. There is no more sense of goal to achive. I think i’m going to quit soon, just like you. 👍🏻
I usually love this game back when this game came out, but then I'm starts to get bored with too many grinds and pay to win in every recent updates. Wish I could go back where this game actually peak.
When I installed the game in February 2015 it was excellent ! When a new vehicle was added to the game, it could be obtained for free by doing events, championships or R&D. In multiplayer mode at the time, leagues and tickets did not exist. At the time, fusion coins did not exist. You could easily be rich in credits, you just had to activate the "double credits" boost and farm the mastery or season 9. This game was just perfect 😢
I was an avid player of this game for years, from 2014 to 2017 (during my late middle school and high school years). However, I began to gradually retire from the game afterwards in response to the rising prices, and once my account was permabanned in early 2019 for no real reason, I finally called it quits for good. Since then I have been watching the game's sad gradual death over the years. It also doesn't help that Gameloft has been losing more and more money over the years either. I've permanently moved on to better games like Halo and Forza Horizon, no longer playing mobile games regularly. I'm happier now than I was during my A8 era.
I came back to A8 a little while ago, created a new account and I have to say... being a new player is just awful, especially when you dont want to use all your money on a game instead of taxes 😅. Its still super fun tho, im loving it, but im stuck not being able to either buy a new car or upgrade already owned ones. Those new tokens are literal hell

@@CarsOnGamingI play A8 sporadically. It's good, but after about 20 minutes you feel satisfied. And the desire not to play for longer is due to the lack of attractive objectives and events.
i was a part-regular asphalt 8 player but it all went to crumbles when GL decided to remove my credits and purchased cars from my account, due to a small bug. Now it feels so tiring to just do multiple races to earn -3M credits, so i just quit the game years ago... Now it is in a sad state. Wish GL had a better CC in this case
everything you said is spot on , however there are a couple of things unite could learn from a8, that is the multiplayer system they use , it is so better laid out and so much fairer than unites system , i keep going back to it weekly just to play mp to get away from unites shambles
I truly miss how asphalt 8 was before it all started going downhill. I remember when currencies were easy to get, each cars was unique in multiplayer, and how different events with certain types of restrictions existed. Now almost 9 times out of 10 I don’t have enough resources for cars which forces me to pay (which I don’t) and almost every car that gets added or is rebalanced is just another copy of cars within the rank bracket.
i had just left asphalt 8 cuz one fine day years ago (i forgot which update) it COMPLETELY wiped my data except the paint jobs on the cars rest all everything was GONE.. tht day left me shattered within..

I played it a lot in 2016-2021 period and the i took a big brake. So i decided to go back to refresh my memories only to find out that you can only buy car with tokens and all cars are so expensive ( 2000+ tokens, 3000 + tokens..) and i only have 257 of them so nothing really. Well i had a Great run but i Don't se myself playing anymore.
This game was my childhood and started playing when I was in the third grade now I’m in highschool almost gonna be in collage and still come back to this game every now and then to check up on it and it makes me sad to see asphalt 8 in this state I already kinda knew it was gonna have a huge downfall when tokens were rising and fusion coins were brought into the game and I really miss those days when asphalt was simple and fun and didn’t require any real life money to acquire cars. And this game really made me love cars, sucks to see it this way.😢❤
In fact, some vehicles are not effective in ALU, such as Inferno vehicles and Toridion, there is a licensing problem with these brands, otherwise they would be effective.
Asphalt 8 was my childhood, and im very sad to see the state the game currently is in right now. 😢 Why don't we try and start a "enough is enough" petition like with Team Fortress 2? It got so many signatures; way more than the flu update petition and valve listened to the cries of the community. Maybe we can get people to post 1 star reviews on the play and apple stores to try and get Gameloft to listen. Maybe there could still be hope for this game if a petition is successful.
As one of the veterans of this great game I can agree that this game made a lot of memories before it's downfall,it has no less become a scam hub or a pay to win game.
best game that made my childhood. i remember it since my mom gave me her phone to play asphalt 8 back to 2015, since then i played in big ranks on multiplayer (champion to elite). in 2019-2020 the game just felt not so good, useless updates. the game was very good back in the days, playing it all day long and grinding master on cars and making money from multiplayer, nowadays the solo play is useless without doing anything just getting bored after 3 or 4 races. maybe the game aged so quickly gameloft just updating only asphalt 9 and forgetting this treasure. its sad to see a game that changed many people disappear like this.

It was a game even i played a bit of it and watched videos on RUclips about this game when i was like 7/8 (it was back in 2014). Asphalt 8 was the best in a years of 2013-2018, the last 4 months of 2019 and further 2020 were ok because of the "festivals" that gave free cars such as Terzo, FXX K, IDR, Lotus (unfortunately Jesko wasn't free) e.t.c. Asphalt 8 had such an exciting events like R&D, Championship and Enduro, very bad that Gameloft were milking those events and removed them from the game. From now on, even since 2021, this game is not the same, it will never be the same joy.
I wanna know who took Asphalt 8's balls of steel so that the cars can go less than 508 kmh, I saw the Devel Sixteen reaching 602 kmh before, you can't complete 5 stars in Season 9 because of hoe inhumane those lap times are because of those speed maniacs, there are people who are scared of those levels btw
Hoy en día asphalt 8 es un paraíso en donde de forma gratuita puedes conseguir bastante, en especial si juegas con Android. Los pases de carrera y caza de coches están bastante accesibles y gracias a ellos se pueden conseguir muchos vehículos muy buenos. Otra cosa es el treasure rush y los vouchers, eso sí que está carisimo, pero puedes perfectamente pasar de ellos y aún así tener un buen garage. Los eventos están dando cosas útiles y el lanza guante es el modo ultra competitivo. Los grandes problemas son los errores de servidor y los hackers. En fin el juego no está muerto, aún lo juega una gran cantidad de jugadores y no pretendo dejarlo. Asphalt 9 es excesivamente caro y extremadamente difícil de progresar (aún gastando dinero).
Nótese que yo no he dicho que esté muerto, sino tremendamente estancado, hasta el punto que asi acabara el final de sus dias, sin mayores actualizaciones. Aun asi, cuando me fui, al acabar la semana mas de 40,000 personas jugaban la Copa semanal, y ahora son apenas 30,000...con lo que hay una tendencia

100% Agree! In the last 6 months, Gameloft launched special event such as Cake, Halloween and right now The Chasing Stars.. All those events to get top prices is utterly impossible to get it, no matter how many times to play and collect stars, etc.. To me, those events seems like the Racing Pass, to buy many stars to unlock a bottom level. The more you go uo, more tokens need to collect to unlock. I got so bored with that event. Is so Orwellian from Gameloft directives, lying to A8 players!!
It is actually just so sad to see what this game has become. I just saw this video pop up, and heck, youtube knows what troubles me. This game was my childhood game, I played it with my cousin all the time when I was with him. It was the game that I have the best memories with. I then later installed it on my pc when I got older, and played so much that I got to the S class, but then I got busy with school that I forgot about it. I had my pc reset so, after a long time of not playing I said, why not check it out, how the game evolved. And oh boy was I dissapointed. I didnt even bother playing through the game. I played it for a like a week and quit. And, not too long ago checked it out once again, and when I saw the car prices, I just uninstalled it instantly. Glad that I managed to get working a 1.0.0 version on pc and can relive on how great the used to be.
Content like this makes me chuckle a bit on the inside. People have been predicting the demise of this game for over a decade (myself included). I too am one of the original players from way back in 2013. I too stopped playing the game as often when so many P2W features were introduced and felt depressed and a bit angry at how the game was letting me down. Around 2017-18, I lost my garage completely due to inactivity, and played it very infrequently after that. About a year ago, I reinstalled the game and started over and devoted time to it. I had forgotten how much fun the game actually is (well, it is really infuriating too, but that's half the fun!). I worked my way back through the career tasks, built back my garage, and partook in many of the events that were not around during my heyday of the game. And yes, I have spent some money on the game (albeit begrudgingly at first). The point is, right now it is fun, again. Will I likely get bored or pissed off at the game at some point and stop playing it as often again? Sure, that's human nature. But right now it is fun, again. The point is that all of us who have predicted it's demise over the years have been wrong. And rather than discouraging new players, we should be encouraging them. The best way to get new features to the game is to make it profitable for GameLoft (after all, they are a company with employees that they need to pay). I get it, you are bored with the game right now. Leave it for 5 years or so and return, and if it is still around see if you can't rekindle the love.

@@CarsOnGaming I was not trying to negate your thoughts, feelings, or experiences with the game. I felt exactly the same as you did when I quit playing previously. All I might suggest is recognize it for what it is--a case of burn out. When people are burned out--whether it is with their career or hobbies or whatever it is--they always blame the object of their burn-out rather than recognizing it as burn-out. The game doesn't owe any of us anything. It is easy not to notice changes when you play the game all the time. What was refreshing for me was to come back after a few years and see how much it had indeed changed. Not all of those changes, I think anyway, are for the better, but several of them are improvements from the last time I played. If I continue to play the game as I have been over the past year, I will burn-out on the game as well. This time, however, I hope that I will at least have the wisdom to play it often enough to keep my garage; for there will be a day in the future when I am feeling nostalgic, and I hope that both my garage and the game are still there.
Man Asphalt 8 used to be my childhood jam, I had so many cars but when token price change was introduced i quickly realised that this game was going downhill and i lost some cars like the veneno that i owned prior to the update, I've never touched it since and nor do i have the plans to play it again, some fan favourites like the supra and the audis were done dirty and were later removed from the game, I've been playing Asphalt Legends since 2018 and slowly but surely I've been making progress until now ALU may also been expensive but not to the level A8 is now and considering how Gameloft likes to ruin certain brands then that's the reason we don't have latest Audi models
Omg... I'm now officially a senior citizen but I LOVE RACING GAMES. I used to play A8 all the time on my Windows laptop. It was lots of fun AND NO ADS! I would almost buy the game if it were like it used to be. I just installed it on my Android tablet and it truly sucks so bad because of all the ads. I don't know if it's the same situation on a Windows OS but I think it might be worth firing up the old laptop and looking into it. A9 just isn't, and has never been, as good as A8 in its glory days.

I started Asphalt Legend Unite not long ago after leaving Asphalt 8 and almost 10 years of experience, Unite is much more polished with a new rewards system, awesome graphics, detailed maps, new features and even more varied. But this is where we notice that Gameloft has bet everything on it and let Asphalt 8 sink despite its immense potential. In any case one thing is certain, despite its fall, Asphalt 8: Airborne will forever be irreplaceable ❤️
I remember playing this game around 2013 or so before the token thing it was a fun experience for me even tho i never got any progress since i uninstall the game so frequently at the time but i settle in 2020 and decided to make some progress but Asphalt 8 has changed so much that i haven’t adapted to it and bearly getting any progress. The last time i play the modern version i got the ferrari testarossa and have never touch the newest version since. I have an old version of the game on my iPod Touch but haven’t made any progress since im planning to download an even older version
I just quit this game in 4 year already is a sad story for players, am pretty sure why this game makes me happy from Mastery Challenge 15 with the McLaren 675LT to replay the race in many times and i feels sad this game for being removed these content is way too far but unfurtunately the Developers is playing a victim and growing so bad this studios...

@@CarsOnGaming i can fully agree, i've been someone that has started asphalt 8 in 2017, back when it's alleged downfall began - since i didn't own most of the cars, i couldn't get a single special event finished, not to mention i wasn't as active in the game as i am with asphalt unite. i'm absolutely baffled you have almost 400 cars when i struggled to get less than 80 in my lifetime of playing the game, tons of horrid changes came to it in the past 6 years including bugs that make the game unplayable and the complete rework of all car stats. this game should have been left in a legacy-like state much like the games before it, rather than - as you said - making it an ad billboard (the menu looks horrible with how much bloat is present on it)

I have Asphalt 8+ on Apple Arcade & that manages to capture some of the magic we got from old Asphalt 8, no fusion coins, no p2w, even no blue tokens, & it actually gives a lot of credits from racing, so you can actually get the highest S classes like the P1 GTR, Trion & D16 Prototype.
Then blasting around Sector 8 or Area 51 or the newer Terra 9 & Orbital loop tracks in the S classes is just nostalgic
I wish they’d add the fantasy A8 tracks to ALU (Sector 8 Terra 9 etc)

Oh wow. This game which I had already long forgotten, is now doing this sh!t. I started playing in 2015 or something, and I lost my progress somewhere around 2023. This was when I realized that spending more time on this game would be a really bad choice as it was already going (very predictably) on the roller coaster to downfall. I wish I had quit sooner. But, it was fun while it lasted. Cheers.

I play this game when I was in high school and university since I am a fan of the 'Asphalt' series. I even played the game during the pandemic when lockdown measures were in place. But nowadays, I only play that game whenever another Asphalt content creator 'feuerrm' plays casually on his livestream for multiplayer selfie races. Other than that, I just don't open the game. I subscribed to you during the time you were an Asphalt 8 content creator, but with your shift to Asphalt Legends Unite, I followed suit and played the latest Asphalt game more. I kind of feel sad where this 11-year-old game is going. Thank you for looking back on this long-running game.

Back in 2013, my dad bought me a brand new iPad Air (1st gen) for my 15th birthday. I saw an Asphalt 8 ad earlier on RUclips and wanted to try the game, so I downloaded it. Between 2015-2018 there was a seaside garage background, it was so refreshing and with the garage music back then, I could do homework while opening the garage mode and watch the cinematic view for hours.
I quit Asphalt 8 in 2019 to pursue my educational career. I had almost all Class D, C and B cars, and a few Class A cars. When I downloaded A8 again in 2022, half of them were gone. Aston Martin DB9, Maserati GranTurismo, Tesla Model S, etc. The only evidence of old A8 I had left was a footage of the Great Wall map classic race with my maxed out Maserati GT.
I'm still playing A8 to this day, but it just doesn't feel the same as 5-6 years ago. It felt like a different game. A pay-to-win gambling game.
I want 2013-2018 Asphalt 8: Airborne back.

There was a time when I started playing the game again after leaving it for a few years, but it felt really different and dissatisfying. Fusion coins, credits losing their value, and CARS NO LONGER HAVING UNIQUE RANKS made the game feel like a major downgrade from the endless memories it created for me. Then I quit again and came back years later for the second time. Only thing that kept me playing was how skilled I became during that time and my desire to keep my skills refined.

It’s sad to see that Gameloft is making A8 more and more difficult to progress with newer game modes, past features being lost, additional currencies replacing existing ones, and lack of any new locations that might bring more players to check in. It does also worry me that the Switch platform before Legends Unite was a decent place to enjoy starting out, even though it was 1 year behind. Back in August, when the info on the update, I was happy to see it finally getting the same support as all of the other platforms, but with the vouchers it has, along with PlayStation, I really hope the fate on this platform won’t be way worse than A8, since this is the platform I started with back in 2019 and had me a small escape from the pandemic.
You're wrong. The game is much easier to progress in than in 2022. With tokens being able to be received for free again, if you save them up you can now get any non-ultimate car in the game if you save up enough and they go on sale, and over the past few months there have been some events such as the cake hunt and the Halloween event where you could get insane rewards. The game is different to what it was in years such as 2017, but it's better than what it was 1 or 2 years ago and I've partially returned to it because of that.

@@WayneKerr69420 If you're talking about credits than they're really easy to get now which means that 1 million isn't that much + they aren't that useful in 2024 so no wonder you can't use them. Tokens and fusion coins are the most important currencies. Tokens were impossible to get as f2p players for years but this year there was an update which made gauntlet races and mp races now give you tokens. If you get all your daily tokens you can save them up and get really good cars for free now, which makes the game much better than in 2022. And finally, the Halloween and cake hunt events were so f2p friendly that I managed to win an S class car in the Halloween event after not playing the game for a month.
This is one of my childhood games and it really is sad that this is pretty much the state of the game. Honestly it might have been better for Gameloft to just stop updating it and leave it instead of making it worse.

gg homie i been playing on and off every couple years ever since like freshman year in high school and this was the worst return I've made as well :( basically nothing new and the removal of the ability to purchase an cars in game with in game currency at all. they're like $15-80 per car. credits are useless now and they added more career missions that you can only do with cars you cant even buy anymore lmfao its so sad to see my favorite mobile game crash into pieces/ i love you all and i hope one day they would remaster it and add new maps and music. Or some sort of miracle might happen where they come back but it definitely doesn't seem like it.
You know, back on November 2023, I got banned (permanently) on this game and it really hit me since I been grinding for two years 24/7 as a F2W player just for it to be lost. Now after seeing this video, i have no regrets. I thought this game had potential ever since i played it back in 2013 when i was around 6 or 7, then replayed it in 2021 ever since i got the free Bugatti Chiron. But now after seeing this, i realized it was a waste of time anyways. Thank you @CarsOnGaming for comforting me for this video made my day!
Playing as a F2P is always safe, you may want to play again with another account or a device but A8 is hardly worth these days

@@JustDeony I feel ya buddy, i was also a F2P in A8 because i also grinded for cars like veneno when they weren't outlandishly priced by tokens and because of that token price change they took away my veneno and slapped a new token price on just about every other lamborghini in the game, i promptly stopped playing because of that disrespect.
Gameloft also has no idea how to do a brand proper justice, as audi, alpine and even BMW are quite a few brands that are really cooking now but because Gameloft doesn't know how to give appropriate stats, Audi most likely denied them licences for ALU because how Gameloft implemented their cars and we don't see any of their cool concept cars in the game💀
I have spent in ALU just on unite fund as it's quite recommended for cheap and sometimes unite pass when a cool car does come up but yeah don't ever spend money on the bundles or anything else

@@JustDeony you could try a few substitutes for Asphalt like real racing and CSR also try switching to other genres like flight sims and fps shooters but I'll rather recommend you save up enough for pc build and enjoy games like Forza and crew motor fest, they are paid but far better and more fun than Asphalt can ever hope to be.
There's also a particular game i enjoy more called simple planes on both android and PC, where you can build your own planes and share it across it's community, it's also paid but just for a few bucks and it's really fun and boosts creativity and the community is still active.

Asphalt 8 in it's current state is sad. It's really hard to obtain cars you have a desire for because of blue tokens and only being their for only so little of a time. It really sucks since it's became more ptw (pay to win) and the tokens just ruin everything. Quite sad. Keep the new cars, get ride of the tokens, and get rid of anything that takes a stupid

Don't feel sad cuz it's ending, feel happy cuz it happened is something that is painfully true for Asphalt 8, I rmb playing it back in 2013 as a kid and leaving in 2015, only to come back on 2020 to see it go to waste, at least I could still enjoy the game, now it has zero progession for newer players and the game's just repetitive as well. I don't see the game lasting another 5 years with the fact that there's nothing for newer players, people will just leave the game on a sour note. I’m pressing f to pay respect for this beloved game that I enjoy greatly (started in 2015).
It is a harsh reality, being a veteran since 2017, I was lucky enough to try and see the game on the brand new Windows 8. Part of my account and that I had the Xbox Live services, I loved it since I could play on another PC with my account, but when they removed that service, I lost that account and all the progress, I had even completed the story and had an inventory of 800 seats and a lot of money when even the cards when they were sold gave a considerable amount, the original cars with inflation, class drops, my zone that was class A was lowered to B and once to C, it was a total shame. Then what to take away how good the system of cars to plans was, or the specific improvements of the pro kits, such as engines of all kinds, technologies and plans for motorcycles and cars that in the end did not cost enough to obtain... the I didn't have a problem with tokens, in the motoblitz you could get 100, the same thing when the car mastery thing was still around, which is what I miss even more, even worse when they removed the rock songs
a8 is long way dead. the devs don't care for the game anymore. its just them trying to milk the last bit of cash possible from this game. updates are repetitive. theres a stupid gambling system to unlock cars. i miss rnds more tha anything. they removed so many OG things from the game like collections, mastery, etc etc. the only way to experience old a8 is pretty much from modded apks that you play once in a while

To be fair , A8 has been dead ever since 2023 , with cars being only available in Tier 15 ( A bad car) and then you need to pay for a good car in the premium tier.....
I feel like the game would get discontinued in like 2025/2026 , as nowadays the only things I see is a heck ton of ad offers (you need to watch up to 60 ads per day just to get 2 car boxes)

Well this was my favourite game of my young ages .You can't expect a 2012 game to keep alive anymore. It has had its time and reign .It's been a fabulous game of its time and even after its time .

You know, I was also saddened by the removal of B.VGT, but there's nothing we can do. When I found out it was going to be removed, I upgraded it and spent resources and credits to fully upgrade it so I could say goodbye to it. It was one of the most beautiful cars. I recently started my own channel for the game, and I was really upset by what you said in the video; honestly, it discouraged me. So, can I continue making content, or should I stop? You left a void; you had your own unique touch, but now you’ve been taken away from us by Asphalt 9.

I play this game since 2016 and THIS IS THE TRUTH!!!! It went worse and worse on every main update. The ability of bulding “your own car” and the drill of competing to chase, step by step, the next dream car (from donkenwoort to bmw SE, to Mercedes SL SE, to Audi R8 SE and so on) are totally gone. There is no more sense of goal to achive. I think i’m going to quit soon, just like you. 👍🏻

When I installed the game in February 2015 it was excellent !
When a new vehicle was added to the game, it could be obtained for free by doing events, championships or R&D.
In multiplayer mode at the time, leagues and tickets did not exist.
At the time, fusion coins did not exist.
You could easily be rich in credits, you just had to activate the "double credits" boost and farm the mastery or season 9.
This game was just perfect 😢

I was an avid player of this game for years, from 2014 to 2017 (during my late middle school and high school years). However, I began to gradually retire from the game afterwards in response to the rising prices, and once my account was permabanned in early 2019 for no real reason, I finally called it quits for good. Since then I have been watching the game's sad gradual death over the years. It also doesn't help that Gameloft has been losing more and more money over the years either.
I've permanently moved on to better games like Halo and Forza Horizon, no longer playing mobile games regularly. I'm happier now than I was during my A8 era.
I came back to A8 a little while ago, created a new account and I have to say... being a new player is just awful, especially when you dont want to use all your money on a game instead of taxes 😅. @@CarsOnGamingI play A8 sporadically. It's good, but after about 20 minutes you feel satisfied. And the desire not to play for longer is due to the lack of attractive objectives and events.

i was a part-regular asphalt 8 player but it all went to crumbles when GL decided to remove my credits and purchased cars from my account, due to a small bug. Now it feels so tiring to just do multiple races to earn -3M credits, so i just quit the game years ago... Now it is in a sad state. Wish GL had a better CC in this case

everything you said is spot on , however there are a couple of things unite could learn from a8, that is the multiplayer system they use , it is so better laid out and so much fairer than unites system , i keep going back to it weekly just to play mp to get away from unites shambles
I truly miss how asphalt 8 was before it all started going downhill. I remember when currencies were easy to get, each cars was unique in multiplayer, and how different events with certain types of restrictions existed. Now almost 9 times out of 10 I don’t have enough resources for cars which forces me to pay (which I don’t) and almost every car that gets added or is rebalanced is just another copy of cars within the rank bracket.
i had just left asphalt 8 cuz one fine day years ago (i forgot which update) it COMPLETELY wiped my data except the paint jobs on the cars rest all everything was GONE.. tht day left me shattered within..
it also wiped all of my data in 2020, the limited car from 2017, gone, lambo veneno which i grinded for and paid in credits gone.
I'm just so bored of playing the same tracks, again and again.
I only do Gauntlet for the tokens each day, that's it

I played it a lot in 2016-2021 period and the i took a big brake. So i decided to go back to refresh my memories only to find out that you can only buy car with tokens and all cars are so expensive ( 2000+ tokens, 3000 + tokens..) and i only have 257 of them so nothing really. Well i had a Great run but i Don't se myself playing anymore.
This feels like revisiting a memory and then realizing how nostalgia blind you were. Kind of sad when you think about it.
It's not really just Nostalgia blind. It was a much better time, really.

This game was my childhood and started playing when I was in the third grade now I’m in highschool almost gonna be in collage and still come back to this game every now and then to check up on it and it makes me sad to see asphalt 8 in this state I already kinda knew it was gonna have a huge downfall when tokens were rising and fusion coins were brought into the game and I really miss those days when asphalt was simple and fun and didn’t require any real life money to acquire cars. And this game really made me love cars, sucks to see it this way.😢❤

Asphalt 8 was my childhood, and im very sad to see the state the game currently is in right now. 😢 Why don't we try and start a "enough is enough" petition like with Team Fortress 2? It got so many signatures; way more than the flu update petition and valve listened to the cries of the community. Maybe we can get people to post 1 star reviews on the play and apple stores to try and get Gameloft to listen. Maybe there could still be hope for this game if a petition is successful.
As one of the veterans of this great game I can agree that this game made a lot of memories before it's downfall,it has no less become a scam hub or a pay to win game.

best game that made my childhood. i remember it since my mom gave me her phone to play asphalt 8 back to 2015, since then i played in big ranks on multiplayer (champion to elite). in 2019-2020 the game just felt not so good, useless updates. the game was very good back in the days, playing it all day long and grinding master on cars and making money from multiplayer, nowadays the solo play is useless without doing anything just getting bored after 3 or 4 races. maybe the game aged so quickly gameloft just updating only asphalt 9 and forgetting this treasure. its sad to see a game that changed many people disappear like this.

It was a game even i played a bit of it and watched videos on RUclips about this game when i was like 7/8 (it was back in 2014).
Asphalt 8 was the best in a years of 2013-2018, the last 4 months of 2019 and further 2020 were ok because of the "festivals" that gave free cars such as Terzo, FXX K, IDR, Lotus (unfortunately Jesko wasn't free) e.t.c.
Asphalt 8 had such an exciting events like R&D, Championship and Enduro, very bad that Gameloft were milking those events and removed them from the game.
From now on, even since 2021, this game is not the same, it will never be the same joy.
I like to just download old versions to my old devices just to get the feel of how good it was back then
I wanna know who took Asphalt 8's balls of steel so that the cars can go less than 508 kmh, I saw the Devel Sixteen reaching 602 kmh before, you can't complete 5 stars in Season 9 because of hoe inhumane those lap times are because of those speed maniacs, there are people who are scared of those levels btw
Old speed was fake speed, the current speed is the real one. Cars weren't faster back then, they just had fake speed

Hoy en día asphalt 8 es un paraíso en donde de forma gratuita puedes conseguir bastante, en especial si juegas con Android. Los pases de carrera y caza de coches están bastante accesibles y gracias a ellos se pueden conseguir muchos vehículos muy buenos. Otra cosa es el treasure rush y los vouchers, eso sí que está carisimo, pero puedes perfectamente pasar de ellos y aún así tener un buen garage.
Los eventos están dando cosas útiles y el lanza guante es el modo ultra competitivo.
Los grandes problemas son los errores de servidor y los hackers.
En fin el juego no está muerto, aún lo juega una gran cantidad de jugadores y no pretendo dejarlo. Asphalt 9 es excesivamente caro y extremadamente difícil de progresar (aún gastando dinero).
Nótese que yo no he dicho que esté muerto, sino tremendamente estancado, hasta el punto que asi acabara el final de sus dias, sin mayores actualizaciones. Aun asi, cuando me fui, al acabar la semana mas de 40,000 personas jugaban la Copa semanal, y ahora son apenas 30,000...con lo que hay una tendencia

100% Agree! In the last 6 months, Gameloft launched special event such as Cake, Halloween and right now The Chasing Stars.. All those events to get top prices is utterly impossible to get it, no matter how many times to play and collect stars, etc.. To me, those events seems like the Racing Pass, to buy many stars to unlock a bottom level. The more you go uo, more tokens need to collect to unlock. I got so bored with that event. Is so Orwellian from Gameloft directives, lying to A8 players!!

It is actually just so sad to see what this game has become. I just saw this video pop up, and heck, youtube knows what troubles me.
This game was my childhood game, I played it with my cousin all the time when I was with him. It was the game that I have the best memories with. I then later installed it on my pc when I got older, and played so much that I got to the S class, but then I got busy with school that I forgot about it.
I had my pc reset so, after a long time of not playing I said, why not check it out, how the game evolved. And oh boy was I dissapointed. I didnt even bother playing through the game. I played it for a like a week and quit. And, not too long ago checked it out once again, and when I saw the car prices, I just uninstalled it instantly.
Glad that I managed to get working a 1.0.0 version on pc and can relive on how great the used to be.
Content like this makes me chuckle a bit on the inside. People have been predicting the demise of this game for over a decade (myself included). I too am one of the original players from way back in 2013. I too stopped playing the game as often when so many P2W features were introduced and felt depressed and a bit angry at how the game was letting me down. Around 2017-18, I lost my garage completely due to inactivity, and played it very infrequently after that. About a year ago, I reinstalled the game and started over and devoted time to it. I had forgotten how much fun the game actually is (well, it is really infuriating too, but that's half the fun!). I worked my way back through the career tasks, built back my garage, and partook in many of the events that were not around during my heyday of the game. And yes, I have spent some money on the game (albeit begrudgingly at first). The point is, right now it is fun, again. Will I likely get bored or pissed off at the game at some point and stop playing it as often again? Sure, that's human nature. But right now it is fun, again.
The point is that all of us who have predicted it's demise over the years have been wrong. And rather than discouraging new players, we should be encouraging them. The best way to get new features to the game is to make it profitable for GameLoft (after all, they are a company with employees that they need to pay).
I get it, you are bored with the game right now. Leave it for 5 years or so and return, and if it is still around see if you can't rekindle the love.

@@CarsOnGaming I was not trying to negate your thoughts, feelings, or experiences with the game. I felt exactly the same as you did when I quit playing previously. All I might suggest is recognize it for what it is--a case of burn out. When people are burned out--whether it is with their career or hobbies or whatever it is--they always blame the object of their burn-out rather than recognizing it as burn-out. The game doesn't owe any of us anything. It is easy not to notice changes when you play the game all the time. What was refreshing for me was to come back after a few years and see how much it had indeed changed. Not all of those changes, I think anyway, are for the better, but several of them are improvements from the last time I played. If I continue to play the game as I have been over the past year, I will burn-out on the game as well. This time, however, I hope that I will at least have the wisdom to play it often enough to keep my garage; for there will be a day in the future when I am feeling nostalgic, and I hope that both my garage and the game are still there.
Man Asphalt 8 used to be my childhood jam, I had so many cars but when token price change was introduced i quickly realised that this game was going downhill and i lost some cars like the veneno that i owned prior to the update, I've never touched it since and nor do i have the plans to play it again, some fan favourites like the supra and the audis were done dirty and were later removed from the game, I've been playing Asphalt Legends since 2018 and slowly but surely I've been making progress until now
ALU may also been expensive but not to the level A8 is now and considering how Gameloft likes to ruin certain brands then that's the reason we don't have latest Audi models
Omg... I'm now officially a senior citizen but I LOVE RACING GAMES. I used to play A8 all the time on my Windows laptop. It was lots of fun AND NO ADS! I would almost buy the game if it were like it used to be. I just installed it on my Android tablet and it truly sucks so bad because of all the ads. I don't know if it's the same situation on a Windows OS but I think it might be worth firing up the old laptop and looking into it. A9 just isn't, and has never been, as good as A8 in its glory days.

Man, los tokens grises son las nuevas fichas azules, los días de Asphalt 8 ya estan contados, si nos ponemos a pensar, desde la implementación de las FC, fue el comienzo del fin. Ahora esas monedas se estan quedando atras, donde quedó la magia? Donde quedó esa sensación de alegria y orgullo de conseguir ese auto que tanto anhelaba? Incluso los créditos, las clásicas monedas amarillas perdieron su valor, donde antes se podian mejorar autos con dichos creditos, incluyendo que también se podian mejorar usando la misma moneda
El juego es un anuncio gigante, atrás quedó la ilusión que causaba desbloquear y mejorar coches, ahora lo unico que vale es el dinero; pero, como no pueden decirlo asi, usan los vouchers en lugar de llenarlo todo de precios

Yup, long time ago when tokens were first introduced I knew this would happen. I quit the game only a year or two later, somewhere in 2017 or 2018.
I started Asphalt Legend Unite not long ago after leaving Asphalt 8 and almost 10 years of experience, Unite is much more polished with a new rewards system, awesome graphics, detailed maps, new features and even more varied. But this is where we notice that Gameloft has bet everything on it and let Asphalt 8 sink despite its immense potential.
In any case one thing is certain, despite its fall, Asphalt 8: Airborne will forever be irreplaceable ❤️

I remember playing this game around 2013 or so before the token thing it was a fun experience for me even tho i never got any progress since i uninstall the game so frequently at the time but i settle in 2020 and decided to make some progress but Asphalt 8 has changed so much that i haven’t adapted to it and bearly getting any progress. The last time i play the modern version i got the ferrari testarossa and have never touch the newest version since. I have an old version of the game on my iPod Touch but haven’t made any progress since im planning to download an even older version
