- Crews detonated explosives that were placed into precision cuts of the remaining Key Bridge truss to remove the wreckage from the bow of the Dali cargo ship. On Tuesday, 11 News Investigates broke the news that Unified Command would use explosives to remove the steel beams off the ship, and that the 22 crew members would remain on board below deck in the back of the ship during the detonation. Officials said several safety protocols were put into place, but the crew members needed to stay on board to keep the ship operational. Follow live updates on 11 News, the WBAL-TV app and WBALTV.com

Thanks!
Thanks ; )
Thank you.
Bless you my Chile
Thanks would been waiting forever
And thanks for placing your logo right over the explosion...
lmfao this video feels like an indian scam
3 min video stretched to 20, nice......
Ya know, for "ad revenue".
Like they fu*kin' need it.
@@patrickkelly5009 Spoken like a paddy
20 min video that should have been a 2 min.
Up yours NBC
my PS5 is on that ship. hurry up.
crazy that the ship took it down, but quite pleased to see the professional work of clearing it up
We felt it 1 mile away. It was loud!!
If that front container was yours, you are SOL.
Yes, yes... I can't help but to think of the 10,000 stories being told how someone's gizmo was stuck (or lost) on that ship. I just hope there were no stow aways?
there goes them car parts
@@ovalwingnut shame man, they took all the crews phones as evidence, I'm sure enough of them are worried about those....
Congratulations to Baltimore for finally getting back together with the whole world. Many many thanks to the cruise and help doing all the jobs.
Still looking like a lot left to do
Thank you Captain Roy!
Good night John Boy
Thats the worst coverage I have seen 👏🏻
Thanks again for all the extremely hard work
Let's keep our prayers going that no one else gets harmed...
17:48 - y’all can see the explosion
Aerial view is good as it gets!
Wonder if the Dali can go somewhere out of the way now. Did someone say?
Just crazy the crews efforts to really clean this mess up nice text book demo that ship was lucky just feets away from being a giant submarine. That eye sore will finally be out of there and the port fully back open. Congratulations Baltimore for just saying fck the negative people and getting the job done 👏👏
Yeah - to heck with all the keyboard experts and YT know-it-alls - these people are getting the job done.
They had a crew of foreigners with the job of guiding ships thru the port because they were *so* familiar with it. It will cost the nation billions so that a rich corporation could save 50,000 a year on hiring actual local experts.
Baltimore deserves the eyesore to remind them how their nation has been sold out from under them.
Kinda reminds me of a couple explosions back in 2001🤨
We heard it in Annapolis!
I heard it all the way to the bank. Someone's CASH COW.
Good job, demolition crew!
❤I think you God. For this team to do this job...
You do realize that all the crew are still on that ship right???
Yes, that was in the announcement
YEah... apparently imagration in Baltimore is a real #@!^#
They have thousands of containers between them and the explosions.
Is that strange? There is a criminal investigation because people died, in maritime law deaths due to such an accident can be considered negligent homicide if it was caused by sloppy work by a crew member (usually falling on the master or chief). They are not US citizens and onboard the ship is not considered US territory when is comes to visas and non-maritime laws.
@@bigredc222 That's good to hear. Their families will find that most comforting. You RoCk Big222
Now they have to get all the Lead dust cleaned up off the ship. Did you see the size of that cloud?
Lead? What part of the bridge do you think was made out of lead?
@@CPcamaro Paint. There were multiple layers of it on the bridge. Didn't you see the burners wearing masks? There is a reason for that.
Lead dust, toxic waste, and whatever else lays under the road debris.
The burners wear masks because the fumes coming from the steel itself have bad effects on the human body, it’s not just because of the paint. I’m required to wear a respirator while welding at my job, and that’s bare steel with MIG wire and no flux core.
@@ralfie8801 But not a respirator for lead. My friend worked on that bridge. I think after a bunch of coasts of lead they switched to a titanium dioxide based paint but it still can't be good for you when it vaporized
Hare Krishna hare Krishna Krishna Krishna hare hare hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare
Looks to me like it failed to go off as planned. There are 2 trusses still standing on top and quite a bit hanging off the side.
More manageable
The ship did not appear to pop up in the water, is it loose, floating?
Hold the camera on the subject
They didn’t blast all of the uprights that they showed in the animation.
Makes sense
Wow , who who whom placed those charges ? .. the charges do a one anna two thing , i saw one clearlyvearly ..the second punce ,,was smokey unseen
OOPS. Only half the charges went off. Not even close to the simulation video.
Looks like you are the only one who noticed it.
Seagull 12 O'clock!
- What seagull?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Still sitting down
That what brought it down in the first place.
Why did it explode
arrgh;..thar she blows a tiny bit....
17:50 YW
That's after the explosion, idiot.
What no audio
No audio at all
The Dali didn't kill itself.
Thought for sure the cargo would have been removed
The Kerch bridge (Russia-Crimea) was blown up in October 8th, 2022 and the road bridge was fully rebuilt by February 23rd 2023 with the railway (for frighrt trains) being open on May 5th. Two two lane spans were demolished, similar to what we see here. The Russians repaired this bridge during winter and in a warzone under constant threat of drone and missile attacks.
If US workers have the same timeline during spring and summer they should be done fixing the bridge by September 10th.
Will they make it or not? Betting starts now and in September I will revisit the topic and handout prizes to the winners, stolen from the losers.
This bridge collapsed 2 months ago and they are barely taking the old bridge off the boat??
The new bridge would already be open if this happened in China.
Maybe my Chinese tanning booth will finally get here!
I guess this is what you call a slow boat from china. Wonder if my package is in one of them containers? 😂
What the thermite used on the sections wasn't enough to bring it all down just the sections.
Its still a piece of truss left on the bow
A much smaller piece that is easier to lift and remove.
This wasn't what the animation projected. The situation is better but not as clear as they hoped.
A non event and Late!
BUILD " SUBMERGED TUNNEL ", please.......
It is CHEAPER than OLD SCHOOL TUNNELING and worry free for this kind of catastrophe.
You know you can trim a video so you don't have 18 minutes of dead air for a 2 second event right? If you'd like I can show you how.
Well I was expecting the Dali to go bobbing out to sea after that.
I'm sure it's aground in the mud below so it's definitely not gonna bob away plus it's anchored down
I think they scheduled the explosion at low tide just to prevent any "popping up" of the ship.
The Sea Scouts will take over and steer the Dali to Trade Point Atlantic as soon as the rest of the debris is cleared. That should earn them a merit badge. ;)
EXTENDING THE VIDEO IS BORING... IN 5 MINUTES INSTEAD OF TWENTY YOU CAN GIVE THE NEWS... REMEMBER THAT THE SUBSTANCE IS WORTH AND NOT THE IMPRESSION... QUALITY IS BETTER THAN QUANTITY.
Ya mist a bit .
Oh.. you meant (more )controlled explosions. Besides the initial explosions that took it down in the first place.
So where was the smoke from the detonations in the "initial" demolition, conspiratoid?
Trump fix
Anoter poser thinks the pay is by the minutte.
Well that didn't do much to release the ship !! The weight is still pinning her down . Should have got the experts in from europe same as that farce with the car carrier what a joke that was cutting her up !!
They only said the word "refloat" six or eight times. The Dali is ballasted down right now.
The pieces are more manageable now.
@@higgs923 The steel bridge section is still laying on the vessel
hmmm kinda like the wtc
Y blow it up when y could asked Britain to help u get rid of bridge now u got more to do clean up well more 🍩 breaks u can have hope u have not spent that 60.000.000 dollars yet on coffee 🍩 and not to mutch weed as well
Bye bye Key bridge. We hardly knew you. 🫡
