I think in truth they were just punting the idea out there, see how it floats. It's Thursday as I write this and there's only the 2 Spanish giants left in it at all. As you mention the Glazers; they could not tell the difference between a football and an egg. For them the banknote is the God. How do you mean there was no voice in the room; banknotes don’t have a voice.
If the Glazers sell they shouldn't expect top dollar for it. The teams are not valued what they used to be before the pandemic, there's no guarantee on return on investment for anyone today.
No Gab, Real Madrid fans weren't okay with this. Not a single fan of the 12 clubs were expecting this nevertheless agree with it. Real Madrid fans love Florentino Perez for what he's done for the club, so they already have a level of trust in him (unlike for example PL fans with their owners). Personally, I was excited to hear that the clubs want to form a new league because of my dislike of UEFA & FIFA and their corruption, but once I saw the format I was utterly disgusted by everyone involved and mostly disappointed by Perez since I expected better from him. I'm sure this was also the case for every single football fan regardless of the teams they support, it was a nice opportunity to get out of UEFA's corruption, but it was ruined by people's greed. Now UEFA has even more power since clubs crawled back to it, so I guess no salvation for football anytime soon.
It wasn't written in stone, according to Pérez the Super League has/had flexibility and they can definitely make improvements in time. Sucks people are so closed minded and unwilling to step out of their comfort zone. Perhaps Premier league fans are just tired and don't trust the corporate foreign owners. EUFA is the root of all this nonsense.
This is a pathetic display of humanity. People care more about sport than their own lives or politics. Everyday people are so powerful and could make the world such an amazing place to live, but they only have the energy to do it when it comes to football.
It’s not just that they are solely business men. It’s that they are operating in an outdated, egoic way. New business leadership is more balanced, has heart and includes positive collaboration. Not greed. They won’t be missed.
Football as a whole really needs to have a requirements for people buying a team. For example, the interested buyer must be a local resident,a fan of the club they want to buy etc.
@stevie mondo dont they already have something like that for the english FA? I thought Bolton's owner last year failed which is why they went into administration
Honestly club culture for me isn't something I care for in an owner. I care if the owner falls in love with the club they buy and actively does what they can for the club. Thats why the 50+1 rule works in Germany. It makes it so the fans own a majority share and guide the club.
@stevie mondo a fit and proper test cant measure "passion" and "love" cause that can be faked by someone smart enough or hungry enough to buy a club. There should be a test but I can't personally think of one that would stop smart, sneaky and greedy people like the glazers
Managing clubs account making it rich means development of team and club .....😶 But these management jerks think getting club rich mean MOre profit .....they r not here because of football they just want money ....
It was a bunch of billionaires who wanted to have a league where their team plays the teams of other billionaires. To protect their “investment” in the team they want to eliminate the risk of relegation and losing to lower ranked teams. They are trying to set up a billionaires cartel. They forgot the fans.
They should force the owners to sell their ownership rights to the FA, given the legal complications and violations of Fifa and UEFA regulations and violations of Fifa fair play and anti trust laws which people set up business for development of monopoly and harming the middle clubs and smaller clubs. FA would regain ownership with a board of directors and not individual unpopular billionaires who are out of touch with the fans.
Gary Neville has become my favourite United captain... And I completely agree with Carragher, let's not punish the managers and players and fans... Without the players and managers standing against it, this would've continued... The owners need to be punished and the best way to do that is to implement legislation to institute something similar to Germany... That will hurt the owners and take away their power...
This European Super League partly stems from decades of UEFA's neglect & own failure in Financial Fair Play Regulations. Salary cap, 50+1, homegrown rule should fully utilised within UEFA, to prevent such anti-sport ideas like the ESL.
Well done to the fans! a multi-billion pound industry has had to back down, that's a huge achievement. Keep fighting on. The solidarity and grassroots organisation of working class football fans is a true inspiration and can be used to make the world a better place for all.

Seeing regular top v top would definitely make it less appealing. Same teams, same players all the time....boring! There would have to be created drama like WWE in the US. Not to mention there would be nothing to stop them doing quarters instead of two halves. Please don’t Americanise Football ⚽️ 🙏🏾
@@adarshnair4772 He's quoting the UEFA chairman who said what were Man Utd in the decade before Sir Alex arrived at the club. In 1974 United were relegated from the league and in the 1980s they were pretty awful, generally has-beens who didn't win a thing for years after Busby left. Fergie revived a sleeping giant and made them a big club again, that's the point of the statement. At different times in football history different teams are on different levels, Atletico and Man City weren't so big and successful even more recently.
The one fellow was right about the passion. The owners were disconnected and arrogant. To really be there and to be with the fans, and value the fans is something foreign to them. They are used to the fans falling third to metrics and revenue streams. But it isn't just the American and foreign owners. The Woodward item i mentioned 6-7 years ago when he was woefully failing to make signings. United fans didn't see it. But it was the 28 dow when Martial was a panic buy. He missed the vast majority of targets and it was always going to have long term ramifications.
If Tony is offered 1£billion by an American or anyone for BHA, how sure are you that he wouldn’t bite ? He will justify that it’s good for the club he loves, just like the previous owners of the top 6.
They wouldn’t have attempted this without discussions and agreements with the broadcasters who ultimately would be funding this new league. So when are the fans going to call for boycotting Sky, BT Sport etc.
I'm not defending the decision, I was appealed at City for joining this but we don't need the owners to come to the game. They run the club very well and have done for the whole 13 years. They lost a lot of trust with this decision but I don't think not coming to the games is a big deal.
Apparently Woodward was leaving United at the end of the year anyway, and the announcement was only brought forward in case of leaks. Mmm......really? 🤔

@@dotmarceo Right! Everyone needs people being killed and enslaved for a world cup 👏
they're the lesser evil.
See you were excited Oggy saying that the leak was roofing Well said Jan that is what we need in Britain 50+1
My arsenal shirts went to the charity shop first thing Monday morning, probably on their way to Africa by now. No regrets, they all had a shitty stain where the badge used to be.
The problem is that the owners see these clubs as a money maker first and a football club as a distant second.
That’s abromoich who uses it to spy on the west but you are definitely wrong. Good luck in your simpleton approach to futbol
@@bcpac listen to this naive Barcelona fan who doesn't even realise that corporate greed has almost bankrupt his football club. You're living in dreamland and you need to wake up son. Corruption and greed is real.
All fans came together, when all this is said and done this moment will be remembered for the unity it created. Leeds fans stood with Burnley fans in unison.
You not got RUclips on your internet then
I think there are more of these videos than people who support the league
Just click on a Real Madrid video and you find thousends of ESL supporters
Time to rush the Emirates on Friday qnd get that other bloke or get someone that loves the club
Who "loves" the club? They're all just in for the money, just like all the mercenary footballers
Dangote us a Gooner, & A Multi-billionaire, let's give him a shot at the 49, we'll take the 50+1% off of Kronke's hands, with the help of legislation from Boris Co! Once protest maintain the pressure,! All the big6 clubs!
As you mention the Glazers; they could not tell the difference between a football and an egg. For them the banknote is the God. How do you mean there was no voice in the room; banknotes don’t have a voice.
People who are for the Super league call Football ...Soccer
Tbf, you have a great point. However, at least in the US, there have been many protests, which in a way parallel this as well.
Because to them, football is more important than anything else.....
@stevie mondo yeah youre right, the interested buyer must know the history and the fan culture of the club
Glazer 🤪
350 million quid will blind anyone to do the right thing. Somebody matched the price they would sell out for and their greed took over.
1:10 "the leak is roofing" 🤣
In all seriousness the roof at old Trafford is in tatters and the glazers need to be kicked out NOW

Managing clubs account making it rich means development of team and club .....😶 But these management jerks think getting club rich mean MOre profit .....they r not here because of football they just want money ....
I am an American who loves football. The heart and soul of football will always live in England! Thank you English fans for saving our beautiful game.
50 plus 1 rule !!
NO. Real and Barca are in a financial mess, that's why Perez pressed this ridiculous idea. Good riddance. Power to the fans.
Now the fans should now unite against UEFA and FIFA
Atleast they give chances to every team who is good. superleague is like nba style..terrible.
50+1
When he said the leak is roofing though 😂
They might be good businessmen but money doesn't buy respect!
This European Super League partly stems from decades of UEFA's neglect & own failure in Financial Fair Play Regulations.
Salary cap, 50+1, homegrown rule should fully utilised within UEFA, to prevent such anti-sport ideas like the ESL.
Maybe MU should have talked to, I don't know, Alex Ferguson
ESPN at its best
It’s time to turn attention to the greed of Premier League, UEFA, FIFA, Sky tv, that’s the where the terrible not caring people really are
German model with percentage fan ownership is what needs to happen
You know there’s issues when the loof starts to reak
Well done to the fans! a multi-billion pound industry has had to back down, that's a huge achievement. Keep fighting on. The solidarity and grassroots organisation of working class football fans is a true inspiration and can be used to make the world a better place for all.
No body is addressing the Root of the problems the FIFA and UEFA . AC Milan prohibited to play europian games for 30millions while countries can buy teams and spend 700 million , yeah definitely a game for the Simpeltons
I know 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑 Some even considered UEFA heroes for saving football 🤣🤡
If United fans had any ball they would've been outside of Old Trafford today in numbers to get the Glazers out
Protest at Old Trafford planned for Saturday.
Different clubs had different motivations for the ESL, but almost all had the motivation of more money.
UEFA: "Where was Man United before Alex" ME: Facts!!!!!
do u not know who the Busby Babes are?
First English team in the European Cup. Matt Busby helped create it.
In terms of recent titles, financial success reputation, and respect it's because of Sir Alex. I can't respect that argument
7 league titles 1 champions league about 7/8 fa cups they was hardly a small team
It’s interesting Craig but more importantly it’s “competition”and the truth about all this has been... “it’s only business”
I`m just wondrering what is Fergie thinking ?
He is against super league or so I read
He saw it coming. It's why his retirement seemed so random.
"The Glazers haven't spent a penny" Quote of the year.
Very few people at the top of ANY big club give a flyingf about real fans.
Consider myself very lucky having Tony Bloom as our owner. A Brighton & Hove Albion supporter all his life.
He wasn’t tempted because he wasn’t invited
If Tony is offered 1£billion by an American or anyone for BHA, how sure are you that he wouldn’t bite ? He will justify that it’s good for the club he loves, just like the previous owners of the top 6.
In fact, £200 million will be too tempting. Never trust any owners
Ogden's analysis is pristine. "Woodward is not a football man". Couldn't have said it better.
Apparently Woodward was leaving United at the end of the year anyway, and the announcement was only brought forward in case of leaks. Mmm......really? 🤔
Wait can someone explain why Roman can’t turn up to Chelsea anymore???
@@PrinceOlaf The UK Gov kept delaying and delaying and delaying and Abramovich eventually gave up hope because of Russia England relations so he withdrew

All these pundits have got it right. Business monopolies are synonymous with sports franchises in America and this is the presumptive, way, that this money is allowed bully the status quo!
Beautifully constructed and contextual sentence Gab , "more interested in the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law"
@bocoy noiu IF only that was true! , Liverpool two seasons before, lost 1 game that mattered , Man City overlapping that set a points record !
Every single year football mirrors life, in the fact that its a free market and the rich get richer and poor are further and further behind
Just distribute all of Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool And Chelsea players that rea on the bench , to the rest of the premier league,
Then and only then will the league be fair,
But whilst Mahrez and co are happy to get paid a fortune to NOT play football for other teams
The rest have no real chance if winning anything
Straight knock-out competition in Champions league is needed and the Champions of every country should automatically qualify
The other 14 club owners would also be tempted if they were invited. Never trust any club owners.
