Hey Usman, nice hands-on look at the Laowa 10mm f2.8. Most photographers interested in this lens will be looking to use it for real estate or architectural work. I really enjoyed your previous videos using tilt-shift lenses for architecture (I enjoyed them so much I picked up the Laowa 12mm f2.8 plus Magic Shift Converter - which I still own). It would be great if you could get your hands on a loaner copy of the 10mm and demonstrate it's capabilities and image quality in this genre of photography.
Nice! Very interesting, seems to be a fun lens a creative photowalk! I like walking around a city with me 10-20mm ultraawide zoom lens for aps-c, 10mm on full-frame sensor gets so much in the frame!
Ok I cam to see the thumbnail shooting distance and the 0 distortion claim thinking about something beautiful. And... .... .... I saw the result. Thank you
So where's the beef? Hyped as early as mid December 2023. Finally available for order mid February 2024. Delivery for mid March. No movement on orders now in April. Seems it's only produced for people helping In their marketing aspect. They have lenses.
If you take the distortion of the best 10mm lens as ground zero, then Laowa can call this zero distortion. It is like saying the champion of the leaque have had a 'perfect' season.
Ha ha 10mm … what really. Thanks crazy I have used 16mm lens and to show inside a building for a wide angle shot it looks good… but I wouldn’t take photo or video of person at 16mm. Around 18mm it starts to look a little bit better, to me 18mm Zeiss Batis is where I feel the footage starts to look more appealing.
I'll be discussing this in more detail but the reason why it works is because you can use more stabilisation options without it cropping too much from the frame.
There’s a difference between perspective distortion caused by your distance to a subject and lens distortion caused by the way light is captured in a lens. All lenses and even your own eyes suffer from perspective distortion.
@@Sondercreative most people talk about lens distortion based on the image to reality, and all lenses have that to some point, the shorter the worse. So the problem is with your title.
@@jlsc4125it’s a different use of the word distortion. if you look at how this lens renders a grid it has low distortion for an ultrawide lens. If you use the lens to create unflattering perspective (like a nose macro lens) that doesn’t change the optical design creating a reasonably flat plane.

All the fun and distortion of a fisheye without being a fisheye lens.
Nice!

Excellent showcase
An extremely interesting lens! Thanks for the details
4:20 Best "make small women feel tall" lens lol
2:10 how romantic

No need for IBIS on a lens this wide. Plus if it did it would make it massive.

Same. Ordered on announce and don’t getting any updates. Like wtf laowa

Perspective distortion is not the same as lens distortion. Even your eyes have perspective distortion.

800$ for a bad lens. Nogo. I have a sigma 4,5mm lens. This is very good.
Depends what you’re after I guess. Also thats an apsc fish eye lens You mentioned. Very different.
10mm is not suitable for vlog, the distortion is weird, i feel sick when im watching the footages out of the range.

Do you not understand the meaning of distortion ? Those images had Major distortion.

@@jlsc4125 The title is based on what the lens is called. Laowa calls it their zero distortion lens. My title is appropriate.
