  • A review of the new Insta360 Go 3 comparing it to my GoPro Hero 9 during an evening bicycle ride ride to the beach.
I also rode my road bike with the camera on my chest using the magnetic pendant. Even with the included wedge, the camera is pointing too low and all you see is my arms and the front of the bike. So that mount is no use on the bike. It would probably be amazing for hiking, though.
Similarly the voice commands don't work if there's any wind or traffic noise. I had to turn the volume up to high to reliably hear the beeps as it starts and stops recording.
It's becoming very difficult to recommend this camera for videoing while riding a bicycle. The camera alone works well on a handlebar mount and it does a good job in low light situations. But a 45 minute battery life is not ideal. What I'd really like to get is a small cradle that sits between the camera and the mount and has a USB-C port to allow me to run it from an external battery pack without dealing with the weight of the action pod. Surely someone will make this for us.
    Spoiler alert:
    It's not a GoPro killer

Actually, if you buy the Quick Release Mount (with the Gopro fingers) it's a tighter fit and doesn't rattle (or slip).

Update: I just tested it again and, when the camera is in the Action Pod, it rattles slightly on a bumpy road. When the small camera is mounted straight onto the QR mount it doesn't. So, it's worth testing if you can dampen out the rattling of the camera in the Action Pod too, otherwise the battery life is limited to the small camera battery (35 mins or so).

Do you have a link for that mount? I've been looking all over and can't find a mount that is is Insta360 on one end and GoPro on the other. All I've been able to find is GoPro -> 1/4" -> Insta360 which is a bit of a pain.

What about putting on ur chest or clip on helmet? Would the quality of the video be more stable?

Funny you should ask that. I did a ride today with it on my chest so I'll be taking a look at that shortly.
