I knew Jorge Selarón in person, bought some of the tiles he painted, talked to the man, helped him lay down some tiles only months before he was assassinated. RIP jorge .
Great to finally see you in Brazil !! Love the content not sure how long you will be there but the longer you stay the longer you will want to stay. Keep up the good work.
Bobó de camarão looks splendid!!! Thank you for sharing your superb experience in Brasil!!! I have a joyous obsession with Brasil and I love seeing people have life-changing joy in this country. Keep travelling and revealing the world to us, Sly!!! Linda vida!!!
Thank you for sharing. As a man of culture, I appreciate the many beautiful views of Brazil. After listening to that woman speak Portuguese, I’m thinking it wouldn’t be too hard to learn with how similar it is to Spanish. Muito- much (pr) Mucho- much (es) I could hear words like that through context and understand without the subtitles. Languages are amazing! I can see your Portuguese is getting better by each video
Hi :) I speak spanish and italian, i dream to go to Brazil learn Portuguese in the same time. i am afraid to mix all ;) as i learnt spanish and italian, none of these languages are my first native one, French native speaker :) but you are right, I could understand a part of the conversation too :) so we might pick it quite quickly i hope by immersion.. :)
@@luna7453 as a French speaker it should be easier for you to speak Portuguese. The phrase structures are pretty much the same, the verb tenses and stuff, all you have to do is adapt your vocabulary.

Nice video bro. When you go to restaurants or just buy stuff, can you say what the prices are (or put it on the screen). Keep the videos coming. Long time subscriber but I don't usually comment but I did this time. Peace.
Salute Sly!!! Great footage 👏 I never knew they had so many steps, and all the different types of Flags hanging were nice. I seen alot of good-looking women walking around. Oh and Sao paulo has the second largest Japanese community outside of Japan. I heard you can find some cheap good hotels, and its safe. I'm really feeling Brazil. They have good Vibes. I was planning Australia or Thailand, but Brazil is pushing through lol.
@@nihao7051 Thanks for the correction 🙏. I'm planning a trip, but I was told you go to Rio for Beaches and if you're on a budget, Sao Paulo if you have a lot of money. Lol
Thanks🙏🏿 and I heard about the Japanese influence in Sao Paolo. I'll definitely check that area out once I'm there. Also, I don't think you can go wrong with visiting any of those countries - assuming they have minimal restrictions.
Hey Sly, how long did it take you to pick up Portuguese from Spanish since you've mainly been traveling to Spanish-speaking countries prior? It would be interesting to hear your journey with that.
Hey, I took a basic 4-week Portuguese course in Colombia and the languages are very similar, so it didn't take too long. Also, I just know the basics like asking for directions and stuff - nothing serious.
Lapa was my favorite place when I spent time in Rio eons ago, nightlife was the best, loved the Centro Cultural Carioca, the vibe there…only experienced that in Brasil, just awesome. I also would take the bondinho to Santa Teresa…not always safe with favela kids jumping onto it to steal from tourists. Thanks for showing this part of Lapa, and not the usual parts of Rio!!
As Andre stated, Rio has more to do and is more expensive, but both cities are great. The nod goes to Rio as it has multiple beaches within city limits.
Awesome videos. Love the content! However, you too the wrong metro stop ( Carioca station), much farther walk. Cinelandia station is a 6-9 minutes walk to Seleron stairs, straight line. I know this because i did the same thing and then i lived in Rio for a bit. Great video!
Great video and very helpful! I am going to Rio next month so this video really gives me another idea of what to see. I though Lapa was more for nightlife but it seems there is a good vibe by day too. How much did that shrimp dish cost? It looked pretty good.
How do those steps in Rio co pare to those long stairs you walked up through in Colombia (or Ecuador, I forgot)? It’s wild to see a Harriet Tubman mural next to Trump😂 That had to have been on purpose. I forgot that it is late-summer where you’re at right now, I know it got to be rough going’s during the day (I’m also not big on wearing shorts so I get the struggle my brother). Again, so many beautiful visuals😍 LAWD!
The other steps were in Ecuador. Totally different vibes as the Ecuador steps were located in the middle of the nightlife area and the Brazil steps were located on the outskirts of the nightlife area. Both were cool though.
12:34 nice views, indeed! dayum! I commented on your metro/açaí video asking if you're coming to SP, and saw in this video that you will be coming here. But yeah, let me know, we can hit up Rua Augusta in São Paulo. I'm American, also a nomad.
Another great video. A lot of useful information also and I'm also a public transportation fan. You can now use your credit card that is awesome 👌. But I do have a Brazilian metro 🚇 card.
If you visit Sao Paulo it's worth checking out bairro da Liberdade. Liberdade has delicious Japanese food and snacks. The largest Japanese community outside Japan is found in Brazil 🇧🇷🇯🇵 You wil probably learn some Japanese 😎 Parque do Ibirapuera is a good spot too. If you are feeling adventurous, head out to Paranapiacaba, an old village built by the British located in the Atlantic Rainforest. You can book a tour with the local guides and explore the lush forest

On average, with Brazil having the tallest people in South America, and with Bolivia having some of the shortest people, a basketball game between their two national teams would be an interesting event.
Man, you're SO wrong !! Lapa is the most strange and no real carioca night scene... The worst tourist place in Rio. But... It seems that tourist likes to go in the most dangerous places... ( Who knows🤔🤔)
I'm well and I hope the same for you. They have a good number of vegan restaurants in the city. I usually just type "vegan restaurant Rio de Janeiro" on google to locate them.
