This is a great opportunity to get the 19” BOE and maybe even hack for the dual joysticks for total CARNAGE. A little marque and apron art change and we are good to go. Thanks Justin for giving us some great info. I'm in the same line as you, that Midway game lineup has swayed me more toward getting this now over the prior reports that this was a Golden Kombat cab. I might just have to get this and do a reskin down the road.

im gonna buy 2. 1 for me and 1 to flip in the future. i may sell both if "its trash" but i see some great mod potential with this cabinet whether A1U sticks around or files for bankruptcy i think even if they went under someone would swoop in and buy it, or would get some good investment $$ before hand. Re-skin as the Multi-Williams. New Multi-Williams control panel layout without the track ball. Or make both that panel and a dedicated golden tee panel that can be swapped out easy.

Great video. Just discovered your channel and subscribed. Very interested in this cabinet. I currently have the original arcade 1up golden tee that came out. I play it once a day at least. One thing to add also is this new edition has two extra golden tee games that were not available before. 3D and 97 are new here in this addition as well. The midway games are a plus too. Only issue is Costco location is an hour away. Will decide soon.

I like it. It would be great in someone’s home bar if they are limited on space. You could add a ton of additional games that would work with that control panel with little to no hard modding.
I'd buy a multi williams if it has the correct game list. This cab is cool for others but i'd rather buy the dedicated defender and joust they sell since I dont like golf and wouldnt buy it regardless
Great video! Glad to see your back and to hear that I am not the only one with this contemplation about buying this new cab. I also regret not buying the Pac Man XL. I didn't realize at the time that it was likely the last and only iteration of Pac Man XL we would get from Arcade1up, or I would have grabbed it in a heartbeat last year. I only have room for 7 cabs (two spots remaining), and although this Golden Tee + Midways is not arcade authentic, it does allow me to have both Golden Tee and Root Beer Tapper, while still having room for one additional cab.
I think the positioning of Player Two is a deal killer for me. It’s bad enough that many of these games will not play as intended, but the fact that Player Two’s hand is hanging off the edge of the machine is hard to understand on an XL cabinet, probably going to pass on this.
I own the Midway Legacy cab and MKII coctail table Arcade 1Ups. Midway Legacy list - Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Toobin, Rampage, Joust, Wizard of Wor, Gauntlet, Rootbeer Tapper, Defender, Bubbles and Paperboy. The MKII cocktail table has the same game list but they took out Wizard of Wor, Bubbles and Paperboy and put in Sinistar, Gorf and Klax instead. So first... The Midway Legacy cabinet... Playing Paperboy with an 8-way digital joystick is a pain. There are small bars on the left and bottom of the screen to help you know how far left or right you are steering or how fast you are going but it's awkward to play to say the least without handelbars. Bubbles and Sinistar used a 49 position stick in the arcade. Bubbles still seems playable but Sinistar seems a bit harder to control as your ship always flys at full speed and only in 8 directions. Toobin plays fine on both. The Mortal Kombat style button layout makes sense for playing it for the left and right hand paddle forward and backwards controls. On the Golden Tee Midway cab the buttons are spaced out all over the place so how would you control your player? Joystick? On the MKII cocktail table Sinistar and Gorf play proper with the vertical screen orientation. Toobin for one player has the correct vertical screen orientation as well. (2 players it does a split screen with the sides filled in with artwork). The Golden Tee Midway cab would be horizontal with the monitor so a few games would not be proper. (Gorf would probably have the rank lights. Mine doesn't). Another word on Gorf... Most people would not notice but something seems off on the emulation as my scores are always half of what I get or real "hard set" Gorf arcade machines. Also occasionally the Space Warp mission repeats ever now and then where you do the mission twice. (It did it again yesterday throwing the proper mission number off by 1). I would suspect that problem was not fixed. Defender is quite playable with the Mortal Kombat button layout. On the Golden Tee Midway cab the buttons look all spread out again so how would you control it?. Thrust and reverse both used on the stick? One thing on the MKII coctail table... Horizontal monitor games do a split screen which takes getting used to. The second player would be sitting accross from you so he has an identical screen that is flipped. Gorf and Sinistar flip the screen depending on who's turn it is. For the Golden Tee Midway cab it might look bizarre for Midway games but the shape might make it easier for taller players to see what is going on. The Maquee can kinda cut off the top of the screen on the Midway Legacy cabinet. I bought the MKII cocktail table just to play Gorf. Only other option was the Defender Partycade which I was never into the design. An upright Gorf might be nice but if they didn't fix the emulation issue I don't know if I would bite on this new cab. Most people wouldn't notice the difference but I can tell something is off. Arcade hard set machines I've had about 107,000 with 4 ships and over 120,000 with 6 ships on another one after only a couple of plays. I've played my Arcade 1Up version to death and only managed to get a little over 69,000 with 6 ships. The trackball on the Golden Tee machine would be the deciding factor. If that is sub par for controls it isn't worth it. The Midway game list might sound impressive but the controls would be the same as my two machines for some. (Paperboy, Sinistar, Bubbles), or probably unplayable because of the weird button layout. (Defender, Toobin...)

I’m right there with you Justin. I’ve really been waiting for a Sinistar in a 3/4 cab. I played the fool out of that cab on lunch breaks while doing my University studies. I already have a MKII legacy with improper controls for Defender. 19” monitor - Great, two button controls- not so great. I guess I’m one of the few without Golden Tee so that would be nice. Not a member at Costco, $60 penalty and a 90 mile drive each way, again not so nice. I’m climbing back up on the fence. Boy, I’m really stuck. And I’ve dreamed of getting a Robotron. That will come out the minute I buy this one.
I bought a Pacman XL at Costco for 400.00. If this gets a similar discount,I'll pick one up too. It is ugly so I'll put it next to my "The Walking Dead " pinball machine. Nothing is uglier than my Walking Dead pinball machine.😂
It's so weird. I didn't believe it was real until the actual cab came out. It's bizarre. I'm really surprised we didn't get Atari trackball games like Centipede in it. That would've been my first thought if I heard there was a Golden Tee crossover cab. (I don't hate it. It's not for me, but I can see why people would want it because of the games on it)
I think this is the worst-case scenario, Justin. Supposedly XLs are exclusive to Costco. If true, this could be the only XL we get until this time next year, if it sells well. And if it does, they'll probably do another ugly mash-up cab. And if it doesn't sell well, then XL is probably dead. Nevermind that this isn't really the cab anyone wants, or that it's essentially a Golden Tee XL reskin... A1U (or Costco) won't see the mistake they made... we'll either get more crap like this, or nothing at all. And as a huge fan of XL, I don't know what to do.
I absolutely regret not picking up the Pac-Man XL and the Golden Tee XL. XLs are really all I am interested in now. I'm not a hater of multicades as I have two ALUs and love them, but, i really like the A1Us for the nostalgic recreations. However, you have really gotten me thinking on this one. It's a great price, 19" screen and likely has global leaderboards.
@@zackdreamcast hard to say, but I’ll share what I’m thinking. I recently saw a video that said Costco turns over their entire inventory, on average, in about 26 days. Pac-Man XL got discounted. But I recall not everywhere. Golden Tee feels like a great title for the Costco shoppers. The economy is tough right. World events is likely making people nervous to spend, if they have the extra money. The big unknown: How many Golden Tee XL are in Costco? This is the most important question. If there is too much supply, it will be $250 in 40 days.
I personally like it. I have the Golden Tee XL, but I think this Golden Tee/Midway XL is cool. I think to be able to play Joust and these other games on an XL are worth it alone.
Size does matter. Movable size. I missed out on the prior golden tee XL. Love the 19 inch BOE. However have the defender partycade which has most of the Williams games. Ugly for sure, but could reskin. Price is right. Kits my friend.. I am torn.

Great game selection & great monitor. If I had one, I'd want to mod it to have swappable Contol Panels (for Defender's sake). Defender isn't a good game choice for a multicade control panel. Like you said Robotron would have been a better choice. But that would be A1up giving us a game we've been begging for a few years now.

I actually don't hate this... if I didn't already have a Golden Tee HE and a Multi-Williams, I'd buy this in a heartbeat... and if Team Encoder can figure out some way to add Silver Strike to it (I know, probably not possible), I'd buy it and replace the marquee. Honestly, I don't think it's THAT ugly to begin with. I don't like the "Arcade Classics" thing, but I'd just replace that anyway...
Based on picture, I can’t tell how you’d be able to play defender on it. Button layout seems seems impossible for defender. That said, the lineup is very attractive. I have the mortal Kombat cocktail cabinet but this has more games. If this dropped to $399 or $450, I’d be tempted. I don’t have any golden tee cabinets so there is that too. However, Saving money for Atgames 4K pinball so will definitely not be a retail price buyer on this.
I am not a big fan of the collaboration cabs this one and the class of 81 something about the two cab mashup just does not look good to me. I much rather have the separate cabinet also it is very nice to see you Justin. I appreciate you 🫡
Too much emphasis on cabinet appearance instead of playability. Like others, I need to know how Defender will play, quality of the trackball, joysticks etc. Btw, Defender plays best on which of the 4 arcade1up options?
IMO the Partycade has the best layout for defender. But, because it’s a partcade, the control panel is smaller. I’m guessing we’ll see a hands on video on RUclips or Facebook in the coming weeks and we can see the control panel.
The cabinet is ugly, but at least the artwork can always be reskinned on the cabinet and control panel, and even a aftermarket marquee. As far as the monitor, probably one of arcade 1ups better monitors for sure.
2 of 4 XLs are golden tee and NBA jam is Shaq themed so a bit disappointed in XL line. I personally want arcade recreations even if it only has one game. Lots of options for multicades, Arcade1up only cheap option for recreations and they seem to be going in a different direction.
You know, With how often Classic games are re-released now a days, for me this cab isn't a Nostalgic hit, how could it be? This is a Modern Cab, along the lines of an iiRcade. We have to understand that with the reintroduction of Arcade Gaming, It's bled over to Console Arcade Gaming and Full Scale Home Use Arcade games. We live in a time where you can play classic titles and new titles often times with the same ole controls (Arcade Stick + Buttons) So in this world of mixing and matching Old and New, This is a New Cabinet with old Titles mixed like the same way Class of 81 was a Year 2000 cab for their then Arcade Scene. This is a Modern 2024 cabinet mix & matched designed for Today's Arcade Scene. I'm not saying it's ok, I'm just saying how it actually makes perfect sense. The Arcade in General, both a Location and the cabs themselves have always been victim to the Whims of its owners. That's how we ended up with the conversion cabs of the 90s. This makes sense in the grand scope of the Arcade scene, and I actually think it looks cool. But! I'm also not interested in it. At this point for me the nostalgia of Arcade Gaming is Gone, now it's Current. As as such I kinda bought the cabs I can spend all the time in the world playing on. So now it's about Engagement with what I have than racing out to buy something new.
Green screen. Arcade1up, real arcades, and real pinball filled my room. Put desk in the corner. I own/purchased a dozen Arcade1up, just not behind a camera anymore. I got a few more deals last year. I’ve been working and spending time with my family. Life is short, I make content when I have time. Family first.
I have a first-generation Golden Tee and Rampage already. The Rampage has been modded to expose hidden games that were on the pcb, and I swapped out the joysticks for Sanwas. I think I paid $300 each If I didn't already own them, I would buy this new cab, but unless I can sell at least the Golden Tee it doesn't make any sense to get it at $600 + 1.825% sales tax here in Texas. So...anyone looking for an OG Golden Tee?
well i just bought one at costco the other day and i just got done assembling it and when i went to put the knobs on the joy sticks and i noticed that the left joystick threaded top is smaller in diameter than the right joystick threaded top so both of the knobs are to big to thread on to the left joystick but both knobs thread onto the right joystick no problem. really bummed out and having problem right outta the box for 600 bucks.
oh sorry. Its an FPGA based arcade board drop in replacement for Williams arcades. Basically a board that can recreate the arcade schematic in hardware. Speaking of Rare just picked up another "Space Gun" game and now I have a Back up PCB for a game which will probably never be ported again. Which makes me very very sad. Especially for TAITO games.
I feel this cabinet is too much of the same but I really wish Arcade1up would release that big blue Capcom with alien vs predator like it was once mentioned, I feel that would please a big bunch of the Arcade1up fan base there been waiting for something new. Its a piece of cheap $500 Peg Board electronic Chinese junk. The frame is crap, the electronics are junk and its retro screen is junk. 2 speakets are junk. Its crap because its a RIP OFF thats why. The Chinese make this for Americans, we pay $500 for less than $20 worth of crap. The hardware doesnt line up and its unstable. I didnt buy one but had the opportunity to play one. The controls will fail after a few months. Midway sold out and this thing is junk. Once I figured out the track ball i bowled 300 everytime..... too easy because its too f'in CHEAP. Thats my reasons. Save your money. You want a retro feeling then watch Johnny Carson.

A1U (or Costco) won't see the mistake they made... we'll either get more crap like this, or nothing at all. And as a huge fan of XL, I don't know what to do.

I absolutely regret not picking up the Pac-Man XL and the Golden Tee XL. XLs are really all I am interested in now. I'm not a hater of multicades as I have two ALUs and love them, but, i really like the A1Us for the nostalgic recreations. However, you have really gotten me thinking on this one. It's a great price, 19" screen and likely has global leaderboards.
Curious if you think it will indeed sell out? Or destiny brings it to clearance or Ollies

I recently saw a video that said Costco turns over their entire inventory, on average, in about 26 days.
Pac-Man XL got discounted. But I recall not everywhere.
Golden Tee feels like a great title for the Costco shoppers.
The economy is tough right. World events is likely making people nervous to spend, if they have the extra money.
The big unknown: How many Golden Tee XL are in Costco? This is the most important question. If there is too much supply, it will be $250 in 40 days.
I personally like it. I have the Golden Tee XL, but I think this Golden Tee/Midway XL is cool. I think to be able to play Joust and these other games on an XL are worth it alone.
Size does matter. Movable size. I missed out on the prior golden tee XL. Love the 19 inch BOE. However have the defender partycade which has most of the Williams games. Ugly for sure, but could reskin. Price is right. Kits my friend.. I am torn.

Great game selection & great monitor. If I had one, I'd want to mod it to have swappable Contol Panels (for Defender's sake). Defender isn't a good game choice for a multicade control panel. Like you said Robotron would have been a better choice. But that would be A1up giving us a game we've been begging for a few years now.
Looks good to me (not ugly) as long as the ball and sticks are ok. TBD.

@@lnguyen602 I think they can move these. ThinkUp versus Tastemakers. We represent 1% of the market. Even with buy back, 1up moves a lot of wood through retailers.
I actually don't hate this... if I didn't already have a Golden Tee HE and a Multi-Williams, I'd buy this in a heartbeat... and if Team Encoder can figure out some way to add Silver Strike to it (I know, probably not possible), I'd buy it and replace the marquee. Honestly, I don't think it's THAT ugly to begin with. I don't like the "Arcade Classics" thing, but I'd just replace that anyway...

Based on picture, I can’t tell how you’d be able to play defender on it. Button layout seems seems impossible for defender. That said, the lineup is very attractive. I have the mortal Kombat cocktail cabinet but this has more games. If this dropped to $399 or $450, I’d be tempted. I don’t have any golden tee cabinets so there is that too. However, Saving money for Atgames 4K pinball so will definitely not be a retail price buyer on this.

Too much emphasis on cabinet appearance instead of playability. Like others, I need to know how Defender will play, quality of the trackball, joysticks etc. Btw, Defender plays best on which of the 4 arcade1up options?
IMO the Partycade has the best layout for defender. But, because it’s a partcade, the control panel is smaller.
I’m guessing we’ll see a hands on video on RUclips or Facebook in the coming weeks and we can see the control panel.

I have an idea. Just swap out the marquee and sandwich the cab next to other two others. 😝
The cabinet is ugly, but at least the artwork can always be reskinned on the cabinet and control panel, and even a aftermarket marquee.
As far as the monitor, probably one of arcade 1ups better monitors for sure.

Robotron was a big miss
2 of 4 XLs are golden tee and NBA jam is Shaq themed so a bit disappointed in XL line. I personally want arcade recreations even if it only has one game. Lots of options for multicades, Arcade1up only cheap option for recreations and they seem to be going in a different direction.

I know nothing official or even rumors, but 1up does like to rerelease PacMan for the holidays. Maybe Costco will do MsPacMan XL end of 2024.

You know, With how often Classic games are re-released now a days, for me this cab isn't a Nostalgic hit, how could it be?
This is a Modern Cab, along the lines of an iiRcade. We have to understand that with the reintroduction of Arcade Gaming, It's bled over to Console Arcade Gaming and Full Scale Home Use Arcade games.
We live in a time where you can play classic titles and new titles often times with the same ole controls (Arcade Stick + Buttons)
So in this world of mixing and matching Old and New, This is a New Cabinet with old Titles mixed like the same way Class of 81 was a Year 2000 cab for their then Arcade Scene.
This is a Modern 2024 cabinet mix & matched designed for Today's Arcade Scene.
I'm not saying it's ok, I'm just saying how it actually makes perfect sense.
The Arcade in General, both a Location and the cabs themselves have always been victim to the Whims of its owners.
That's how we ended up with the conversion cabs of the 90s.
This makes sense in the grand scope of the Arcade scene, and I actually think it looks cool. But! I'm also not interested in it.
At this point for me the nostalgia of Arcade Gaming is Gone, now it's Current. As as such I kinda bought the cabs I can spend all the time in the world playing on. So now it's about Engagement with what I have than racing out to buy something new.
I don't hate the control panel or cabinet shape. Slap some different art on it and you'd be "Golden".

I have a first-generation Golden Tee and Rampage already. The Rampage has been modded to expose hidden games that were on the pcb, and I swapped out the joysticks for Sanwas.
I think I paid $300 each
If I didn't already own them, I would buy this new cab, but unless I can sell at least the Golden Tee it doesn't make any sense to get it at $600 + 1.825% sales tax here in Texas.

well i just bought one at costco the other day and i just got done assembling it and when i went to put the knobs on the joy sticks and i noticed that the left joystick threaded top is smaller in diameter than the right joystick threaded top so both of the knobs are to big to thread on to the left joystick but both knobs thread onto the right joystick no problem. really bummed out and having problem right outta the box for 600 bucks.

oh sorry. Its an FPGA based arcade board drop in replacement for Williams arcades. Basically a board that can recreate the arcade schematic in hardware. But you can have it boot directly into a single game, or pick many games.

This is out in the Wild - but... wait.. BIG PASS for this. Sorry rather have the real looking Cabinets or Rare Ported Arcade Games. Speaking of Rare just picked up another "Space Gun" game and now I have a Back up PCB for a game which will probably never be ported again. Which makes me very very sad. Especially for TAITO games.
Congrats on another Space Gun. Yeah, the days of 1up having a chance and doing rare games are likely gone.
Having XL cabnets in our home is nice but only enough room for a few. Multicade are space savers.

I feel this cabinet is too much of the same but I really wish Arcade1up would release that big blue Capcom with alien vs predator like it was once mentioned, I feel that would please a big bunch of the Arcade1up fan base there been waiting for something new. I also hope they make it like the Mk deluxe newer cabinet and not like those nba jam casinocade cabinets that look awful and cheap.
Its a piece of cheap $500 Peg Board electronic Chinese junk. The frame is crap, the electronics are junk and its retro screen is junk. 2 speakets are junk. Its crap because its a RIP OFF thats why. The Chinese make this for Americans, we pay $500 for less than $20 worth of crap. The hardware doesnt line up and its unstable. I didnt buy one but had the opportunity to play one. The controls will fail after a few months. Midway sold out and this thing is junk. Once I figured out the track ball i bowled 300 everytime..... too easy because its too f'in CHEAP. Thats my reasons. Save your money. You want a retro feeling then watch Johnny Carson.
