I taught English in Kemang for three years. When I got off the plane I knew no bahasa Indonesian. The people there were so nice that I never had a problem getting anything I needed. It was fun watching you go to the same parts of Jakarta that I did, So much to see and do. If you really want to have fun get off the beaten path and head out of the city. Wonderful people.
Ryan, your sense of adventure and humor combine with a humble nature. That is what sets your videos apart from other language channels. Looking forward to the next one. ❤
Hey Ryan! Pocari Sweat is popular in Japan and South Korea, too! If it's common in Indonesia, it must be normal to see in SE Asia! The vlogs are wonderful, and it's awesome to see the locals receiving you warmly since you are speaking to them in their language and following their customs. Take care!
I've just done a quick research and I've seen that it's a Japanese product, popular in the whole continent of Asia and the Middle East, and it's commonly found in some other countries like Mexico. It's available online in the US but I've never seen it in a store here.
Dude you're such a genuine, goofy, humble, and skilled person. Such a fun vlog (This video style reminded me of Laoshu) :D Hope you have many more opportunities to travel to the other places to unleash your language prowess :D
I am a white Australian who has been to Indonesia several times, and I love durian! My wonderful fiancée (who is Indonesian) got me to try it. She told me that the trick to finding a good durian is not to get one that is yellow in colour before being cracked open, as they are too overripe. Durian actually goes well with ice cream too.
I really enjoyed this vlog style travel video, not just about speaking a language but using your ability to speak their language while exploring the country and talking to the locals, putting it to real use! I love it.
Bro as a filipino and had a bahasa as our FOREIGN language course in college i can say that their are many exact words or similar words in filipino especially if you are from the NORTH tribes here in the PH like me and i'll say this there are lots of words most of them are same in spelling and pronunciation and i can say that your accent and pronunciations are on point. Alam ko naiintindihan mo itong sentence na naka tagalog🤣
When I finish my study in Philippines, I might travel to Indonesia just like you did. By the way, I understand Indonesian Language somehow. Makasih banyak-banyak. Ini content bagkus sangat.
Many of your viewers are keep asking when will you meet Indah. I certain that a vlog with her while you're in Indonesia will blow the roof flown to the moon 😂
I was supposed to go to bed 25 minutes ago, man that was so entertaining time flew by. Goodnight everyone and best wishes on the adventures in Jakarta Ryan!
I love Indonesia, My wife is Indonesian and we are going to Indonesia this year. I have never tasted Durian because the smell makes my wife gag and she wont let me 300 yards near one lol. Anyway i hop you try all the food because it differs each Island.
Great outfit Bro! I like it! Your vlog is very interesting. I think you did a very difficult thing: you made Indonesian people main characters in the film. This tells me you have a great recpect for those people, which i really preciate. I must also say one thing - you're good at bargaining :-) This series of vlogs is in my opinion best material you have ever uploaded. Thumb up!
i love your indonesia vlogs! it's awesome to see what it's like there, because im hoping to travel sometime there to meet a friend :] keep up the vlogs because they're very interesting! 🤗
The stuff there is so beautiful I could just window shop for hours. Other languages I dont speak, sound like music. So many lovely sounding words. English to me sound kurt. hard. short. I dont think it flows. Indonesian sounds so great.
it's a very weird dynamic cause some locals wanna profit off of tourists but theres also the sense of wanting to give discount as a sign of hospitality and welcoming.
@@kakikukeko30 you are right and also wrong too None locals are still Indonesians and will not get ripped off and bule is far far more of a chance of doing so From many many concepts
Hi Ryan.. I really enjoy watching your videos. Keep exploring Indonesia... 😊 Btw, one important advise for you, please never say "kamu" to older people. It is quite uncommon and rather impolite..
9:51 si bapak kan ngomong gini ya _"..Bandung, langsung ke Padang, Bukittinggi."_ Bukittinggi yg dimaksud si Bapak itu nama daerah di Sumatra Barat, Bang Ryan. Salah satu daerah terkenal di Sumatra Barat selain Padang.. yg ada icon Jam Gadang nya. Jadi bukan "bukit tinggi" (tall mountain)😁 tapi "Bukittinggi", secara penyebutan memang sama, tapu secara penulisan berbeda
I don't know prices of wood carved objects but if it was truly hand carved and all and not mass produced by machinery, then yea I think you got a good deal if you consider how long it likely took someone to carve and sand and polish/stain it and all that. Looking up on google they seem to make an average of like 5USD an hour there? So taking into assumption it took someone some time + materials and so on, yea I can't see how you could have gotten ripped off.
You're lucky you've got an average body/head/height...it's always picking designs and negotiating with the fabric dealers before heading to the tailor to try to discuss a design in my 12th or 15th best language (how do you say, "make sure there is plenty of room in the junk drawer!" in indonesian?) when I want clothes in asia: all those great prices in the malls and markets and I can't fit any of the clothes...gave up on the native hats after a couple decades of trying, then found one made in mexico on amazon that fit...heck, just buying flip flops or slippers requires at least a day of traveling from one market to the next following leads on where one might find an american 12 (but if the label is american "12" it aint going to fit - get the "14")...
Pantes bahasanya kaya bali termyata gurunya dari bali 😂 aku awal nonton msh menerka nerka ternyata terjawab jg d video, enjoy bro in Indonesia, welcome
Wow, Indonesian people are so nice compared to where I live. Meanwhile, Balkan people are always rude, grumpy and unhappy with their lives. It's so cute how happy they are.
Hope you meet Indah...go to bali and meet her... She will be happy to see you...for sure... Bahasa Indonesia, sangat bagus sekali... Teruja mendengarnya
What is the name of the Indonesian teacher and/or course you used to learn the language so well? Any other resources you can recommend (beyond Italki) for learning conversational, everyday Indonesian?
Nice show. I spent alot of time in Java myself lovely place and people.. but that hat isnt indonesian attire its a muslim hat for the masjid. they have another javanese head wear also.
