Messi values loyalty.
He wanted to stay with Barca for life, but that ship has sailed.
PSG treated him like trash, so he went to a club that would put him and his family first. And now that he has that, he won’t betray it for no reason. Miami is a part of him now, same way (just to a much lesser degree) Barca will always be in his heart.
He’s not a team hopper. He has too much integrity for that.
Not like a certain camel who jump ship as soon as he know that team cant carry him to another ucl

One last game even. Just let us say goodbye the way we always wanted.
Messi said his last game is going to be one half in a Barca jersey, second half in an Argentina jersey, maybe the other way around

This shouldn’t shock anyone. MLS is the retirement league and I think that’s totally ok. He clearly looks like he’s enjoying himself playing in Miami and I’m super happy for the guy.
it's not really though
Then why is the United States 5th in the world, in exports( players to Europe)?
@@brando7266 - Exports not Imports to MLS dumb dumb. And most of these exports are warming benches anyways. MLS has been a retirement league ever since they got Beckham, even gave him a CLUB as part of the deal lol. Imagine that in any self respecting league.
@@Maradona669MLS is actually more of a development league these days. If you look at 1 out of 30 teams (Miami). Then you can call it retirement I guess. MLS sends a lot of it's young players to South America and Europe. Even Alphonso Davies came from the MLS. And the most recent opta analysis has MLS at 10th in the world.

He'll probably stay here after he retires, altho' he could have houses in Argentina and wherever else he would want to stay, as well.
He also owns a mansion in Barcelona which he purchased after marrying Antonella. That's why he keeps saying Barcelona will always be his home even after his eventual retirement.

I think the hope he had to return in Barca one day died when they brought Flick, but who knows what happens in the future, he also said the 22 world cup would be his last, but now after he won it he's thinking about playing the 26 world cup, assuming he can still help his teammates at that age.
I think he’ll finish his career with Newells old boys but as a one season thing.
Messi didn't day he'll retire next year or that this is his last season. He said Miami will be his last club so that means he could be thinking of extending his contract at least by one year then retire.
Steve Nicole nailed it. That’s exactly my thought.
People took wrong interpret Stevi points he meant Messi doesn't retire fast just like us all
Get me that electric screwdriver
Dunno why Maradona is even in the debate in comparing him to Messi...
Maradona is not even close to where Messi or Ronaldo is, the only real comparison would be against Pele.
Maradona has 690 appearances and 348 goals.
Messi has 1063 appearances and 835 goals.
Ronaldo has 1226 appearances and 895 goals.
Pele has 831 appearances and 767 goals.
In terms of ratio wise, Pele is better, Messi has more goals so he wins in that department.
Also Messi has more trophies, passes, awards. In terms of achievements he has accomplished
everything.. Its not even a competition anymore. People ramp up Maradona as some kind of
GOAT. The guy was a crack head and its with drugs that made him who he was. If thats your
person to idolize as a GOAT, then you have a issue.
Pele never played in Europe tbf.
Google 1986, it doesn't get better than that, ( especially the goal of the century, Google if nec,, and u think players don't take stimulants, etc, ? I have messi, pele,Maradona, cr7, and cruyff in my top 5,
@@hospitallier Doesn't matter, that time the level was similar. South American champions could beat the European champs and vice versa, games were close.
and Messi is a tax evading SOB who left his club in ruins. If you think the award for the Model citizen Football player goes to Messi then id take the crackhead as my football GOAT. Maradona single handedly won Argentina the World Cup, Messi's teammates won him the WC. Thats the difference between your GOAT and mine
@@brando7266 Your talking about the Goal of the Century? against England, although its impressive, its not nearly as good as what Messi
did against Getafe, if you analyze both plays, Messi did more dribbles, nutmegs numerus players and go through the defense where as
Maradona went around the players. If you watch side by side, Messi dribble is above Maradona. Yes Maradona played at a higher tournament
WC vs a League. But still, that does not make Messi goal less appealing. We talking about skill wise. Go watch side by side you will see what
I mean.
Also another fact, back in the days, nobody was being checked for doping as they do now. Messi might have taken growth hormones, but he
was not high on cocaine and so forth. Big difference, taking drugs is illegal, that is why lots of teams, and even in the Olympics some players
were disqualified because they were taking drugs (illegal drugs)
I don't know who i can watch after Messi is gone.
Yep, I'll probably stop watching football too. Will prolly just go back and watch old matches with a beer
The same guys who keep calling for Ronaldo to quit even when he is still top scoring, they are deverstated that messi says he will quit soon!!
Because they know they are actually missing a generational player rather than a tap in merchant
@@BrotherBernard-yy4yd the tap in Marchant has won the puskus award for scoring the best goal of the year but messi has never. The tap in Marchant has a record for the most successful dribbles in the same match. The tap in Marchant has the highest number of assists in the history of champions league which is the highest level of football at club level. So, if you guys don't like to watch him anymore, turn off your tvs. To some of us, he is the reason why we watch football.
@@Batesta256 the tap in merchant got his fans believing to vote against messi for puskas awards even though messi has the highest nominations in puskas , the tap in merchant made his fans fabricate facts and made them think he has had the most successful dribbles in a match while he only completed 11 of those 20 attempted dribbles , imagine a fan base so delusional that they can’t even see the difference between dribbles attempted and completed , the tap in merchant has the most number of assists in UCLs while also having the most number of games played , so yea I can see why you love the tap in merchant and like to call someone who actually plays football a rigged merchant 😂

You keep denying facts which are before your eyes!
@@Batesta256 how can we talk facts when penaldians have been presenting fabricated stuff about messi rigging 😂
Penaldians don’t know what a fact is , they feel messi has media over his side , while messi doesn’t even speak to the media as often as ronaldo does
Wanna talk about facts and records even I could go on a day about it , but that won’t fit in your brain since your propaganda has been generated by penaldo fan pages 😂
I mean the “20 dribbles in a match” is such a fabricated stuff , every stat record maker in websites have said penaldo only has 11 dribbles completed against benfica but you believe he has completed the most because you read it on some penaldo fan page
The most dribbles completed in UCL match is 16 by messi in 2007 against penaldos united
While neymar just matched it in 2020 against Atlanta , now these are hard facts you can’t refute 😢
Messi had to say that cause here in Argentina the Newells supporters were insisting a lot that Leo will play his last year of career in his hometown Rosario

It was not the WC but Copa Trophy which triggered Argentina team towards WC.
messi knows he still has 2 years but i know its going to be injuries to retire him
I want messi to go to Arsenal and win the champions league
It was his childhood dream....
A manager, should try to sign messi and ronaldo onto the same team for atleast one season!
The only reason messi isnt retiring as of now is because there is this 39 year old another goat that is still playing at the highest scoring a lot of goals and him retiring as of now would also bring comparison that when it comes to longevity with a better career it would be cristiano.
Shameful how Barca dont even have the money to give him a proper farewell
Endrick might be next
When he finally decides to retire, don't be sad that it's gone; be happy that it happened.
Messi didn't say he is retiring at the end of this season. He said he is likely to retire at Inter Miami. Whether that is after this year or 3 years later, we don't know. Steve Nicol's comment is out of place.
Gab answer is absolutely bias. Even if you don't like Messi that doesn't give you the right to compere him with Ronaldo. Goodness me
Still mentioning cristiano? Come on guys. Debate has been over since.

Messi lives in Miami. He wants to stay, and I don't blame him.
Crazy thing is they’re both greats and both giants of football both are talented players and both careers are coming to an end it’s life
Imagine Messi having a kid again a girl and she gets born the same year he retires and devotes he's whole time to her the ending would be Magical 😢😢❤ how lucky she'll be cos He's sons nvr got him on fulltime
Gab still getting it wrong 😅 Messi was consistent in club and international. The other players were either ll consistent with one or the other never both. That's why the COREECT ANSWER IS MESSI
I would like to see him playing for his love of his life: newells old boys
One last run with Barca need to happen
People seem to forget that he will be an owner at Inter Miami when he retires. He will never really leave this team, and his sons will come up in the Academy. This is Messi's team.
I do not know why anyone will find it hard to understand why a guy that has won everything his name is Lionel Messi and has 3 kids under 12 will want to retire? If you are Cristiano Ronaldo we understand it does not matter how many kids you have because you will try until you die to be as good as Messi. Messi you have earned the right to do as you want and we in Miami really appreciate watching you play with our ver modest Inter Miami team. As per Cristiano Ronaldo CR7 you also have earned your spot in the history of football, stop trying to be better than Messi that ship has sailed.
Win the last worldcup goat 2026 😢😢football will not be the same anymore
A player that has won virtually everything like Lionel Messi can't be thinking or worrying himself about goals at this stage of his career. Messi is a mature minded player. Ronaldo score lots of goals and how many trophies has he won with the goals since 2017 or 18 up till date.
Wow I am shocked I thought he would return to Barcelona lol smh kmft
Hopefully we get a last dance one more season at Barcelona.
What about Newell’s Old Boys??
In my dream scenario, he finishes his inter miami contract in 2025, and then plays copa libertadores for newells and the 2026 wc
The amount of security he would need at all times would be insane
There is zero security my friend. Di Maria has already suffered so much. Messi shouldn't step foot in there for sake of him and his family
What keeps players like Ronaldo to continue to play is because the still have a goal that they are chasing. Messi has achieved 99.9 percent of his goals in football and if he retires today no problem he has nothing else to prove to anyone anymore. With everything he has won and achieved if he says he has reached the peak of career and wants to continue with inter Miami as his last club he has every right to do it.
