3:43 great observation! I’m a long time fan of Cole and have studied classical piano since I was 8. Cole has, for the last few years, been slowly moving his fusion music into the classical sphere (and has cited influences like the great composers Gustav Mahler and Mozart for influencing that shift), and this is the culmination of all of that. Highly recommend you check out the rest of this album if you haven’t already, and literally everything else by Louis Cole!
The part where you mentioned as sounding dangerous is probably more of a nod to early-mid 20th century classical music, the era of Stravinsky, Schoenberg, etc. That was when classical start to evolve itself out of mainstream relevance by becoming more and more abstract. We are mostly exposed to 20th century classical via movies, because while it's often not very pleasant music to listen to, filmmakers realized it can be effective at expressing certain moods and emotions that "normal" music don't. If you've ever seen 2001 A Space Odyssey, that's a great example of this.
This track is such a great fusion of styles: neo-soul, funk, jazz, classical, metal
Released just a week and a half ago from Louis Coles new album 'nothing'. I highly recommend giving it a listen! Really great stuff.
