- BKC Fam! I got my first cook in on my new Champion Barrel Smoker from my friends at @PitBossGrills. I'm really enjoying cooking on this smoker! I fueled it up with Lump Charcoal from @thegoodcharcoal and a nice hunk of Texas Post Oak. I used my ProTemp Plus from @ChefsTempfor the perfect temps. Check out the video for the amazing results.

I’ll make a hanging rib video soon. I don’t have the exact measurements, but ribs will clear with room to spare. The diffuser/air circulator does a good job of spreading heat evenly too.

From everything Im reading if you completely fill the basket for a long cook its hard to regulate temp under 300 (bet 250-275). Can you confirm?
I haven’t done a long cook yet, or filled the basket. I’ve been able to run at 275 solid with no issues and clean smoke.
250 is doable. A lot of people that complain about temps haven’t learned how to finesse temps on a barrel smoker yet because it is different. You will see temp spikes of 10-15 degrees on occasion when new pieces of wood catch, but it will regulate back to normal.
