I have owned 2X ER and a SMCR and I can tell you that whilst the SMCR brake is obviously more powerful plus a much larger contact patch, there is definitely something wrong with the brake on that particular bike you were testing. Probably air in the line which has been known to happen on some new KTM from the factory. I ride my 2021 ER a lot harder everyday than you were in the video and I can stop it from 100 mph (160KPH) with one finger on my front brake. I often out brake friends on faster road bikes. The other point is that on a dual sport with 250mm of travel v the much shorter and road biased suspension of the SMCR, you should always be simultaneously braking with both front and rear to reduce fork dive and brake flatter.
Changed from an Africa Twin 1100 to the 690 Enduro 2021 E5. Love it, much more agile and character. With heated gribs and comfort seat its good for touring too. Changed to Heidenau K 60 tires, they are in my opinion better then the original Mitas.
690 22 also comes with a quickshifter which super cool to have plus USB port which is handy for charging devices (not sure if you mentioned those or not) but great video!
The thing that cracks me up - riders keep crapping on about the perfect unicorn bike, and “when will the manufacturers wake up?!” It’s right here. The 690 platform. Get one before emissions kills it.
What's up BKLF Gang! I hope you are all doing well and get to ride a lot these days. Wanted to remind you that every sub counts towards building a community of like-minded riders around this channel. If you want to be a part of it, feel free to show your support and leave a sub! Thanks for all the support so far :)
Great review, great bike! I was leaning towards T7 but I don’t know, this bike looks so much more fun. Only afraid of reliability, Japanese bikes never let you down unlike these European ones 😂
I sold my T7 and brought a KTM 690 so far very reliable, the T7 was a great bike but the KTM puts a great big smile on your face and that’s what riding is all about.
I have a '20 701E with a spare of SM Wheels, Best of both worlds :) You're right regarding the brakes tho, was thinking getting a moto-master caliper kit but it seems it's almost impossible to get those in EU...
If u like that higher seat check out the seatconcepts comfort XL seat. I put that on my SMCR and I really like it. It's super comfortable and raise the seat height a good bit n changes the riders position. Actually made wheelie way easier being higher up and back a lil more
@@bklf202 it looks like rocky mountain ATV does ship there but idk how crazy the shipping cost would be. Just a thought a comfy Butt is great during long rides tho
@@David_Hez @22 SMC R RIDER Cool! Thanks for the info guys. Now I already bought the poweraprts seat which was expensive enough but for the next time I will check it out
Spot on review just got a 2021, sharp as a tack to ride, the front brake is decent for the road but you do need to grab a fair bit of lever if pushing it, plus abs kicks in a crawl speed quite easily maybe due to the long forks
I’ve just found this test and it has left me amazed - so I had one of the earliest bikes and riding flat out was scary - you got a lot of lift from the front - seeing it stable at 180kph - gosh - this thing has moved on a lot
Pretty sure it is! It has to do with emissions and performance. It’s well designed to make the most of the engine despite the emission limitations but the drawback is the heating up of the exhaust.. if you want the same performance but have it cooler I would go the Leo Vince exhaust. Problem solved. And nice sound too.
@@bklf202 ty for your reply! may I ask u if you still like the bike? Since it is the only one in this section, I probably gonna buy it next year. I own a DR650 from '96. Im a bit worried about all that electric stuff🤔
Just got this recomended randomly, very good quality considering your sub count :D
Haha thanks! Really appreciate that. Feel free to share and support the channel if it’s relevant to anyone in your network 😂

I dont normally comment on videos apart from to abuse people, but what a great video, loads of information good luck with your channel 👍
It sure why the abuse 😂 but thanks anyway! Very much appreciate it!!
Just got mine last week , what a ride , makes me feel old when riding on my v strom 1000, that lc4 is great thumper up to date .
Haha yes! This bike is in a league of it its own 👌
Still have it? Reliable?
Great riding, info and production value!
Thanks!
The mode 2 (off-road) is supposed to be more relax, less throttle response etc so its easier to control on the dirt..

Moin, wie schätzt du die Enduro im Vergleich zur Supermoto ein bezüglich Kurvenspeed? Ist sie viel langsamer? Oder nur anders? Danke 😊

That would be an awesome set-up but yea maybe look for other calipers. There are good ones in Europe too!

Do you wear ear plugs when you ride? I love my 690 on the backroads but once you get going to a decent a speed the wind is so loud for me.
I don’t but I feel deaf after long rides 😂 Have considered earplugs

Good point on the abs

Awesome how tall are you
That two cables make some confusion/irritation. They can be moved slightly?
Not really. You can come up with something but it’s not how it was intended by ktm
