100% correct. As a Brit that travels for work I never understood why people thought our food sucks, until I realised you have to know the good places to eat in the UK but everywhere else in the world nearly everywhere is a good place to eat, and you only have to know the bad places.

Yeah its really a case of knowing where to go. The same pub lunch at different pubs can really be a such a stark comparison sometimes. Kinda mental, in the right places our food is great, in the wrong places its diabolical.

As England has always had a plentiful supply of fresh ingredients there was never a need to add spices etc other than salt to preserve the food so there was never a need for hiding the taste of rotten meat with additives. I guess that's why people may think of traditional English food as bland.
