Good interview. I'm an older gamer. Don't play a lot of games these days. Big fan of Dragon Age and this is the only game I'm looking forward to this year. Love Bioware and really wish the Dragon Age team the best. Can't wait for that release date. So far all predictions are still this year. Early July was the big reveal of previews. Hopefully early August will give us more.
Im glad that it seems like Bioware are going back to their strengths, which is Characters, gameplay, story and the decisions you make along the way. Leave the big open worlds to Bethesda, CD Projekt Red and Rockstar.
Very relieved and excited to hear most of it will be level-based rather than a "map" like an open world, without removing the possibility of exploration completely. Like a mix between Mass Effect and DA2. Can't wait to see it

Whilst I'm excited for the game, I do wish Bioware's marketing team stopped shoving devs and voice actors into doing marketing for the game when they're clearly not allowed to reveal anything. There's only so much "we're really excited for you to experience the story/characters/choices/romances/gameplay that we cant say anything about" that we can take.

Yeah, they canceled gameplay panels for gamescom. DA fans are willfully ignorant. They're not showing gameplay because the two videos they have shown have been universally panned and showing more risks alienating more fans The reason they're not showing more is because they know we won't like what we see. They're hoping people just buy it on brand recognition, imho. Their last hope tbh

I think there's a very clear difference between human being *present* and the tone of the story being too *humorous*. I don't like the analogy to Alistar because it is a very poor example or explanation. He was a single character who masked his pain with humor, Morrigan, Leliana, etc weren't all constantly cracking jokes. I do worry the paper thin responses to these worries the community have are not giving me much confidence in this game.
They've been pretty responsive about a lot of complaints people have had in the past though? Like directly calling out a lot of the problems people have had with Inquisition's gameplay, ensuring the integrity of the single player format & making sure the game is stable and has no reliance on servers/EA's app. And it's been said that the tone of the game will be like Tevinter Nights, which makes sense because that novel introduces a lot of characters that will be in this game. That book isn't too humorous at all. I think in sum, I've seen plenty of good evidence that they are listening and I'm not worried at all.

I mean it's the old guy so if he's annoying I can just ignore wasn't really interested in him from the start. Also he looks more cartoonish than "attractive old guy" (their words).

As long as it’s as far from Origins are physically possible. Origins was good at the time but certain demographics of “fans” has ruined it over the years.
@Sam-yo3bj DAO & 2 were masterclasses in what they did. DAO was a choose your own adventure, 2 was a great rendition of a greek tragedy, and DAI was ok. Too much bloat tbh. But a good story, and an amazing story dlc. I refer to DAO cuz fans of the franchise can almost unilaterally agree that DAO was the best.
