    I didn’t see you using any wrist pin retaining device before attaching head. Isn’t there any snap ring holding pin in piston?

    Thanks for all of your excellent videos.
    There should not be any assembly grease on the parting surfaces of the con rod or the cap during assembly of the cap to the rod.

    So does the 320 not call for stretching the rod bolt, just torque?

    You mentioned that if after installing the rod you spin it and it makes noise that you should take it off and clean everything up and reinstall. My question is, when you reinstall do you use new rod bolts and nuts? Or are the bolts only considered to be one time use if the engine has been run.

      The manual says that once they've been torqued or stretched to spec, they have to be replaced if they're removed - Period! No gray areas there. Taking the rods off and putting them back on would get pretty pricey REALLY fast!

      When I rebuilt an O320 back in 2011 the bolts cost $35 each and the nuts $5 each.

    I have a question for you guys. I'm doing the top end of a o235 with 700 hours on it, what is the safest way to make sure I'm putting the correct rings in it.
    Chrome cylinder = steel rings and vice versa

    • @akcylinders
      @akcylinders  4 года назад

      You are correct. Steel rings for chrome bore, chrome rings for steel bore. The best way is to go by part numbers. Their are individual piston ring part numbers and ring set part numbers for either chrome or steel bore. Can be found in Lycoming parts catalog or Lycoming Service Instruction 1037

      There is a thrust face behind the long front main journal. Little hard to explain in text
