Seen a few reviews of Dump Cake reciepes, nearly all of them complain about biting into pockets of raw flour, simply because the ingredients weren't mixed.

Cathy's Dump recipes truly resonate with me as I created a desert called Thunderdump in 1992 and served it at a dinner, long before her cookbook was published. Here's the story. I went to university in France in the early 1990s. I used to host a lot of dinners and parties for my friends, the people I worked with and the people in my class, as well as my professors. One time I hosted a dinner, and I wanted to play a prank on the French people I went to school with who didn't understand English very well. So, I came up with a dish called "Thunderdump". It was basically a light brown chocolate/butterscotch mousse that had marshmallows and nuts in it, and looked like, well, a dump. I told my friends who were fluent in English and native English speakers that I was going to present this desert as a typical American treat. Something our parents served us all our lives, and something we all loved and missed. My friends did a lot of really creative ad libbing about how this was a dump "just like mom used to make", that there was nothing like an "authentic dump", whether we liked our sumps chunky, runny or fluffy... it was hilarious. Little did I know that only a few years later, there would be an actual dump receipt book. I hope Cathy considers getting her book translated into French as there's likely at least 10-20 people there who would buy it.
