Today we went to two different supermarkets M&S and ALDI to show the comparison between Christmas food products and prices! Cheap vs expensive! We also wanted to see if the expensive food at M&S is worth buying or is it better to go to a budget food shop like Aldi? This was a really fun grocery haul video, we hope you like it! This video is good for anyone looking for money saving tips, looking for cheap Christmas gift ideas, shopping on a budget, anyone conscious of the cost of living or their financial situation, or anyone just trying to save money! Aldi might be cheaper but you just can’t beat the taste and quality of m&s in my opinion
Most of it is made in same factory and just different packaging. I used to work in the co op, and we'd occasionally get items from supplier meant for other shops
@@saywhaaaaat6464 I know of a factory that produces cookies and doughnuts etc for various supermarkets and although they are all produced in the same factory, they do in fact use different ingredients for the different supermarkets!
It looks like M&S has really diversified their plant based products in recent years. I haven’t been to England for a few years, but when I was last there, M&S didn’t have nearly as many vegan products - especially ready made options like sandwiches.

This vlog was so much fun. I liked how you tried the food from both. Sometimes the more expensive one taste better and sometimes you don't notice too much of a difference. Personally I love M&S and since inflation has hit I don’t find Aldi so cheap anymore sometimes M&S works out better and cheaper and better quality and they always have deals and reductions.
But Aldi just stresses me out they’re always changing products or discontinuing them and the check outs are like a horrible workout 😂
Yes this is how i feel , like your been rushed out the door much perfer M&S and i honestly don't find it that expensive plus they seem to taste much nicer too

My Aldi looks so sad compared to yours! While I love both of the Aldi stores in my town, I sure wish we could have gotten an Aldi straight across the pond, items inside included!! I love watching your grocery shop videos!!

I'm sitting in the USA watching this in mid-June '24 and still loving the family dynamic. Even I am excited for next Christmas now, lol! Aldi rightly often come out on top in blind taste tests. Their sloe gin mince pies are just awesome.
There’s nothing like a good Christmas sandwich! I always enjoy one on Boxing day, with homemade cranberry jam, homemade stuffing, seitan roast, a bit of crispy lettuce, and some vegan mayo. So nice.
I hope you do have a little party! You have everything you need. Those Bao buns looked so cute!

Really enjoyed the haul today. M & S have some lovely food and it's not all expensive but obviously Aldi is cheaper. I shop around but have shopped in both these food halls. The more expensive doesn't always taste better as proved here xx

I make a lot of specials myself. Lots coming so bulk cooking and baking. Dressed tables and self serve from the kitchen island. We always do this when we all eat the same meal. The little ones have lots of treats. I have always hosted both days Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Love it! Prep is all! 👍👍👍👍👍😄

I always do an M&S Christmas shop for my pickie ( party food) at Christmas. I know it's more expensive but i find them very tasty. 😊

Hi Guys, Citrus Leaves are edible and can be used in teas or East Asian Dishes (Thai Vietnam India) I have citrus trees in my garden but up there in Northern Europe, not YET. I just freeze any citrus leaves I may run across then use them in flavored teas or dishes.

We actually didn't get them as we got distracted, but we did end up getting some similar ones from Sainsbury's that we are excited to try 😋

My christmas shop would end up at a vegan shop where I could devoir finger foods and non alcoholic drink. Those vegan shops would be Natural Grocers and Aldi.
Are pretzels, something that you specifically only eat at Christmas or is it in general they are only available at Christmas time in the UK? Or does it have to do with the shape of the pretzel?
I’m in the US and we have pretzels you’re around as a snack option. At Christmas time there are sometimes pretzels that are a different shape like a star or tree, but we’ve never really considered pretzels themselves as a Christmas food.
Good question 🤔 I think pretzels are available in the UK all year round at certain places, but I would say they are more of a party/Christmas food here! I remember having huge pretzels when we were in the USA that were sweet and had a cinnamon flavour. They were delicious 😋 🇺🇸💙🇺🇸
You should try a budget weekly shop but gluten free and vegan! And compare with another food week budget you have done

@@FamilyFreedom thank you. Today has been hard. Spent qlot of today crying. Think what makes it worse is I have cervical cancer ontop of having fibromyalgia and endometriosis. I have known for q while qnd have told a few people and true colors come out and yeah don't care. Which is sad.

Ok, so you jumped up the price of vegan bacon & vegan sausages £7.25 to two lots of already made vegan pigs in duvets £11.50 a further £3.55. Yesa, butternut & peacon nut roast a staple in my house. Wow, that's a big difference in price comparison. I remember getting Aldi vegan selection box first time ever last year and It was really nice for a first timer.

@FamilyFreedom you have to remember this was the first time I was eating and trying out vegan cheese, so I had nothing to compare it with. But I enjoyed the smoothness and texture.
I like that you can get so much vegan food at your grocery stores, I live in the countryside in Germany and our village has around 1000 inhabitants and one grocery store with a very limited variety of specialty foods in general, if I want to have a bigger variety I have to drive around 30 minutes to reach a city with more grocery stores who have who have more options !
It sounds like you have to make a bit of a journey to access a wider variety of grocery options. Living in a rural area certainly has its charms, but it can present some challenges when it comes to convenience. It's great that you're willing to travel to get what you need, though. 💚🤗💚

You would be surprised some foods are made by well known makes kp make there hoops tesco beans are made by heinz and aldi do the crumpet tree's also a crumpet loaf, alot of people are a bit snoby reguards foods just going off the name. Just my opinion 😊

Hi guts another great fun video. I think m&s are OK if you want something specific or maybe something that only they sell, but I think m&s food is overpriced. Few years ago just after Christmas I bought a lot of party food from there, it was all half price ( no way woukd I have paid full price ) so even half price came out a bit pricey, but thought give them a try. But boy was I disappointed. Nothing special, rhe taste of the items were bit bland, I was just generally not impressed. I've had better party food etc from tesco/ asda & much easier in the pocket. I woukd Ave been really p....d off if I has paid full price for it. Also a friend of mine fre years ago had a new years eve party, thougt push the boat out so git the party food from m&s, cost a fortune , was meant to split the cost between her & the neighbours but she said she was embarrassed when she put the food out with the portion sizes , the taste of the food etc, that she didbt ask them for any money cos she thought they wouldn't believe that it was meant to be quality food cos its M&S. Nothing wrong with lidl/ aldi Xmas food.

M&S ingredients are better on majority of ready made foods whereas Aldi is over proceesed using additivies you get for what you pay for. So should we compromise on health or wallet?

please make the food aswell.... or even better make healthy foods... because we all are going to party hard at x mas ... but do not want to get to unhealthy... please do your normale oats etc..

In general though, we always try to balance eating the healthy food with the less healthy food, it always feels better that way 👍
@@FamilyFreedom I get that but I have to eat healthy because of a heart condition and I would love some tips... I have read Dr greger how not to die.. so I know what to eat but not how.. to make it easy and nice... you always used to eat these big bowls of oats and made vegan/healthy look so easy and would just love some real healthy day in the life video... thanks for your reaction.. love your video's ...I always get sooo tempted if I see all the treats so sometimes can't watch it anymore when you buy/make all the unhealthy treats 🤗soooo hungry know.. ps hope u are doing well
Standard fruit and veg is just waayyyy overpriced at M&S. Considering that the majority of the supermarkets will be doing veg at about 20p per bag soon.
