- A couple of years ago I got invited on a road trip around the South Island of New Zealand with 2 incredible creators, neither of which I'd met until the trip! We visited some unbelievable places and had the best times over the 8 days we travelled around! This is such a special film to me, exploring my country and making 2 amazing friends, hope you all enjoy it!

I love this. Great job. Thanks for sharing it. I need to learn how to use my camera. I have this camera but need to invest more time with it. I'm a visual designer and use my camera mainly for product photography. But now I want to expand my skills and get more into film. I'm also learning After Effects and just in love with all this technology we have access to now to be creative.
Well done!

Love from India ❤️❤️
Appreciate you!
Really great video! Loved it!! Amazing colors! Can you please tell me the picture profile used in details and luts? Also I have the a6600 ans same lenses; so what lut do you recommend for me? leaming luts or other one? Thanks
Cheers bro, appreciate it! Picture profile I used pp8, change the gamma to cine4, colour to cinema, detail to -7 for 4k and -3 for 1080p! I used Luts by Kay for this one! They’re really nice
incredible edit!
Thank you, stoked you like it!

🙏
wow! cant believe i have the same camera that made this awesome film. did u use a gimbal at any of the shots?
Thanks so much man! Yeah I used a gimbal for basically every shot
@@MichaelExplores just watched it again. still cant believe it. very inspiring. gonna get that gimbal and go out to shoot! 😁
Can you please give some details about picture profile you used, great work
Thank you! I use pp8, change the gamma to cine4, colour to cinema and detail to -3 for 1080p and -7 for 4k
Really dope!!!🔥
Appreciate it, cheers!
@@MichaelExplores may i know what lens do you use for this? Voz im a sonu a6500 user too, but im using 35mm
@@AuxiliaryOfficial Full gear list is in the description! I used Sigma 30mm f/1.4
and Sony 10-18mm f/4 but now I use Sigma 16, 30 and 56mm f/1.4
Dude how did you do that intro photo slide 👌🏼
Such a good edit! Super clean and colours are epic. One thing I noticed was the aspect ratio it fills the full screen and looks way better than the standard. What size did you use to do that?
Cheers bro, stoked you like it 👊 I used a 2.35:1 ratio for this so exported at 3840x1634, what are you watching it on?
@@MichaelExplores thanks for revealing your secrets haha. On an iPhone and I’ve only seen it a handful of times where it even goes behind the notch, just stands out way more
@@rikimoir Haha anytime 😂 Yeah the newer iPhones have a wider screen than standard so it does look sick filling it up!
Hi there sir michael if a huge fan of your work and i am from the philippines. I just want to ask if a6500 is better than the a6400. Because im about to buy my 1st camera and the lens that i chose is the sony FE 50mm F2.5G. Do you think it is a great lens for photography and video?. Hoping that i could get some answer thankyou and have a great day
Hey there, thanks so much for the support, happy to hear you like the content! So the original 3 were a6000, a6300 and a6500 but they are all discontinued now and have been replaced by the a6100, a6400 and a6600. So the a6400 is newer and has some extra features compared to the a6500, the only main thing that is better about the a6500 is that it has In-Body Image Stabilisation (IBIS). So the a6400 is a very good camera, especially for photography and if you are shooting video on a tripod or gimbal. If IBIS is important to you then I'd recommend the a6600, but otherwise the a6400 will be amazing!
I haven't used the 50mm f/2.5 G before but 50mm is a great focal length for portraits, as it's a 75mm full frame equivalent. Just depends what you're wanting to shoot really as it might be quite tight if it's your only lens. A couple lenses I'd really recommend for starting out would be either the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 or the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8
Hope that helps!
@@MichaelExplores thankyou so much. This would really help
AMAZING....what picture profile used to filmed, do you used ND variable?
please share the setting, thanks
Thank you! I used pp8, change the gamma to cine4, colour to cinema and the detail to -3 for 1080p and -7 for 4k. Yeah I used a VND on the 30mm 1.4, hope that helps!
@@MichaelExplores Thank you very much. subbed.
@@thinkzchannel6166 Appreciate the support!
What lenses you used to make the a6500 look wide like that??😳
Sony 10-18 was the wide angle! All gear is in the description 😄
I would love to know how you coloured this, I am struggling to take my a73 to the next level
I used LUTs by JustKay for this one!
@@MichaelExplores thank you
Hi what picture profile did you use?
Pp8, change the gamma to cine4, colour to cinema, detail to -3 for 1080p and -7 for 4k
Hey Man, Loved your videos...
Just wanted to know, how did you create that intro starting from 0:32 is it created in after effects ? Can you name the effect?
Thanks so much! This was just done in Premiere Pro but you could do it in After Effects as well, either one. Was done by
1. Key framing motion
2. Using a mask to feather the bottom edge
3. Key framing directional motion blur
Then once you’ve done one clip, you can copy the effects onto the rest of them, hope that helps!
What is the opening song in this?
Mantap
🙌
Great job! What lens do you use in the Sony?
What ND filter are you using on the A6500?
Marumi!
bro are you shooting 4k 24 o 30 fps ?
24 🤙
Great job, what’s your pprofile used here
Thanks so much! I use pp8, change the gamma to cine4, colour to cinema, detail to -3 for 1080p and -7 for 4k
Is it really a6500 if yes so kindly tell me ur picture profile and how do u manage such colours in 8 bit footage
Unbelievable? What did you expose your Slog-2 to? +1.0? +2.0? And what did you set your zebras to?
Thanks! Used cine4, not Slog :) Just exposed normally and had zebras at 100+
@@MichaelExplores Ok cool! So basically 0.0? That’s interesting! I’ve never played around with cine4
@@AntonKouznetsov Yep! I like it, it gives good dynamic range and flexibility without being too flat that the image falls apart when you grade
@@MichaelExplores I’m leaving for a trip to the balkans on Friday and only have a 35mm 1.4 what do you think would complement it most? (I run a a7iii)
@@AntonKouznetsov Depends what you want to shoot! 35mm is pretty well rounded
do you record in slog?
what picture profile and settings?
pp8, change the gamma to cine4, colour to cinema, detail to -3 for 1080p and -7 for 4k! Any other settings in particular?
@@MichaelExplores thanks for answering! i'm a photographer thinking about getting more into videography (instead of just using my iphone), so i'm beginning to do some research before i start. do you have any advice for post processing? i assume i should do typical basic adjustments, just like photography, but with these camera settings i will also need to color grade, right? do you have any luts you recommend to start as a base or should i color grade manually?
@@tau_tv That's awesome! Yeah depends on the style you want to go for, I've done a mix of using luts and custom grading for different projects (For this one I used luts from JustKay). Premiere doesn't have the best setup for colour grading so luts can be pretty helpful sometimes, just understanding how to use them and finding the right ones!
@@MichaelExplores so i checked out JustKay, and i see he has "Sony LUTS". If I have a sony that's the one I should get or I can get the others too? what do you suggest I get? I don't care too much, I just need some LUTS to get a starting point, just as I do with presets, and then I tend to edit and create my own. I'm guessing LUTS is the same way as presets in lightroom? As I edit to what I like, I can save as my own LUT? do you think I should go ahead and get his masterpack as a starting point?
@@tau_tv What camera do you have? Luts work a bit differently to Lightroom presets in that they don't change the settings in the program, they are more of a filter that is placed over the top of the image and you can only change the overall intensity of the lut. So you can't make changes to the lut and save it as you can't actually adjust the individual aspects of what the lut is doing
Bro!! Just make a tutorial already. I also have a6500 but can't get as good results as you do.
