dude what i used to be a massive mcr fan and common people is my favourite song of all time/pulp is one of my favourite bands, and i'm just now learning about this????
MCR just want to try new music out that time. For those who don't know, Gerard Way stated in the Sydney's Opera House in Australia that after he finished Black Parade, he was done with the band. He wanted to END the band a long time ago as he let out his feelings already through his lyrics and music but he felt it wasn't right to end the band so early. So he put out Danger Days to try out something new for the band (only thing he would come up with to have some more fun than his previous albums). I don't think Gerard was at all interested in the money much but he USED his band as therapy for himself. The music from Black Parade was all he wanted to show to all the "kids" who can relate to him. I just felt like typing this all out for people who don't know much about Gerard's whole motive at that time. :)
Not really a fan of MCR but huge respect for Gerard having enough artistic integrity to know when to call it instead of being one of those bands that goes on for decades phoning it in.
If you saw them at Reading festival, where they performed Queens We Will Rock You, then you'd probably of noticed that Gerard has a Freddie Mercury quality about him!
@@mercian9425 There are plenty of musicologists and other academics who have been able to quantify music in many ways. Sure, taste can be subjective and "to each his own", but to write that music cannot be objectively measured for quality flies in the face of at least a thousand years of studies focused on music. What YOU like and do not like has no bearing on the quality of a musical piece. An entire branch of philosophy works to define beauty (including in music) and is called Aesthetics. There is music that is decidedly NOT brilliant that I enjoy, and music that is brilliant that I do not care for, but at least I have the honesty to make such assessments. If you want to argue for or against if the music is a brilliant cover, do so; you do not get to cancel other's opinions by covering your ears and complaining that there is no such thing as rational argument regarding musical taste.
Gerard Way has a very special gift which he showcases in every single performance. He sings with an emotion that is rare, so much so that you hang onto his every word and feel the impact of every single lyric. The band as a whole remain true to their essence throughout and give every performance their heart and soul. When MRC decides to do a cover it's never with the intention of doing it better, it's alway with the intention of paying homage and appreciation. These guys have good morals and very good messages to youngsters who have self-esteem issues. This is the type of role model that I would rather have my daughter look up to and be inspired by, which she does as do I. Good job MCR and thank you for the music!!!
Exactly. I can’t listen to people who are very technical in their singing. I don’t care how “perfect” it is if I don’t feel it, if I don’t buy it, I literally don’t give a shit! This is what drew me so obsessively to MCR in high school and onwards until… forever 🎉🥰
Whoever sings this song, the lyrics stand on their own - imo. The best vantage point (I have found) is being a "fan" of nothing/noONE and taking each 'offering' as it comes. There is passion here if nothing else. I suspect there IS something else...
They all look so excited to be performing this. They look like they are just so happy to be doing this song, like they just adore it and have been waiting years to do it. It makes me so happy.
pulp y el britpop nunca fue famoso en EU la mayoría de los artistas que hacen covers de pulpo son británicos es muy raro verlos de gente del nuevo mundo pero es muy bueno viva pulp

So ok some ppl saying they don’t feel the emotion like with Pulp...I disagree. When Gee sings “you will *NEVER* understand, how it *feels* to live your life, with no *meaning* or *control*, and with *nowhere* left to go...you are AMAZED that they exist, and they burn so bright whilst you can only wonder WHY?” (Emphasis mine...sort of) those lines ALWAYS make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. This song omg I just found out it existed I'm a thorough fan of Pulp and so is my dad and to find out my favourite American band done a cover was great aha
I adore them in everything they do. Take it or leave it, they love doing music. I can see it in their eyes. The same look I had when I finally got to perform at the bar in my little shitty town. Me and my band get this way... so. Yeah. I love this band, and listen to a song or two daily.
i adore this cover and fidlar’s cover and (of course) the original but i think my personal favorite is this version. not saying it’s the best but i like it the most. it’s probably just personal bias as mcr is my favorite band and gerard my favorite artist, but his voice just puts something so amazing into this already amazing song
I love pulp to bits and this a really good cover! It beats Keane's version of Disco 2000 out of a %%%%king window and beats it senseless on a pavement!
Gerard and the rest of the guys are huge Brit pop fans Pulp,Oasis, Blur etc and while I do adore MCR and love this version of the song ofcourse the original is the best....now the best thing to ever happen to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" is MCR covering it 😉💖✌
I think this cover is as good as the original. Mcr tweaked it a little adding a dash of their style which made it more lively than Pulp's. Other than that, both bands did great.
My favourite band covering my Dad's favourite song
Haha, that's funny. Old and new, even though MCR is 13 years old.
Same
Bless your dad ❤ cause Pulp is the masterpiece of British music
SAME
I'm guessing you're from the year 2000 pun intended.
dude what i used to be a massive mcr fan and common people is my favourite song of all time/pulp is one of my favourite bands, and i'm just now learning about this????
Exactly same
@@fev3rdre4m The same here

Nice thoughts
I would die if they release a studio version of this song cover.
4:00 : Gerard Way
4:02 : Brendon Urie
lmao
omg haha
Oh Gerard...wearing sunglasses indoors
Ray bans ... for the common people 😅
Cocaine
The production is SO good here that it's hard to believe it's a live recording.
Even as an MCR fan, this is objectively a decidedly brilliant American cover of a thoroughly British song.
If you saw them at Reading festival, where they performed Queens We Will Rock You, then you'd probably of noticed that Gerard has a Freddie Mercury quality about him!

It is.
An even better version is by William Shatner
This reminds me of Gee's style for Hesitant Alien
+Lexi H it's cause hesitant alien is influenced by britpop and pulp is literally the definition of britpop
+no my dear, that chapter is done. Did you just forget the biggest icons of britpop, you yank
Kuro Neko sORRY pulp is ONE of the largest britpop bands along with blur, oasis, suede, radiohead, the stone roses, morrissey, ect.
+Rick Astley let me put it this way, there's blur and oasis' rivalry then there's the rest of britpop
Kuro Neko there you go. better explanation than mine

I was lucky to see Pulp at Reading Festival 2011 and they were just incredible. Their stage presence was amazing and Cocker has the moves!
Jarvis Chris
pulp y el britpop nunca fue famoso en EU la mayoría de los artistas que hacen covers de pulpo son británicos es muy raro verlos de gente del nuevo mundo pero es muy bueno viva pulp
Now I REALLY want to listen to Pulp, I never really listen to them and this just encourages me.
Pulp is great band!
fudgeiskindacool Different Class and This is Hardcore are just absolutely incredible albums.
agree💖💖💖💖
fudgeiskindacool same
They’re so good and Jarvis Cocker is such a character
i’m loosing my mind how did i not know about this
pulp es dificil de superar...
Omg this was a childhood song and Gerard is singing it can you hear me crying
They have to come back........
Ew no they don't
+Mrs. lesterfuentes ???
Kilo Juliet ...You don't want an MCR comeback/reunion?
Um, how about no
As much as I would want a reunion, all the members seem happy now and that’s all that really matters to me
Wtf they legit only showed Mikey for like half a second at the very end
I was wondering why Mikey wasn't there! I thought maybe he just wasn't there that day or something. Poor Mikey.
Gerard's voice is amazing 😍

Look out, they'll tear your insides out
'Cause everybody hates a tourist
Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh
Yeah and the chip stains and grease
Will come out in the bath
You will never understand
How it feels to live your life
With no meaning or control
And with nowhere left to go
You are amazed that they exist
And they burn so bright
Whilst you can only wonder why

BEAUTIFUL! Gerards voice with this song is amazing! And Rays guitar solo is pretty darn snazzy :D
Certainly has a rockier edge to it.
My favourite childhood band covering my favourite (current) teenagerhood song
I’m not a big mcr fan at all but this was genuinely a fantastic cover
I never knew this existed!!
Did they speed it up or is it just me oh well I fucking love mcr and britpop so it's all good
How had I never heard/ seen this before? Classic Pulp, and MCR more than do it justice--love!
Wtf ! That’s perfect cover lads...
No that's a Pulp verse, they just didn't include it in the single version. It's on the album though.
This song omg I just found out it existed I'm a thorough fan of Pulp and so is my dad and to find out my favourite American band done a cover was great aha
If My Chemical Romance were British they would be a completely different band
TheAstronomyFloyd New Jersey formed those boys lmao
They'd be better
He's certainly no Jarvis.
I adore them in everything they do. Take it or leave it, they love doing music. I can see it in their eyes. The same look I had when I finally got to perform at the bar in my little shitty town. Me and my band get this way... so. Yeah. I love this band, and listen to a song or two daily.
Looking back I am glad Pulp reached as far as they did and still do. Massively under-known band of the Brit-pop era.
it’s weird listening to this with that american accent
Their style here fits this song so well, it sounds like foreshadowing to Gerard’s poppier solo work
This is pretty good, I'm surprised they covered this style as well as they did.
Great Cover
How have I only just found this
Decent cover didn’t think it would work from the title alone but it definitely does
i adore this cover and fidlar’s cover and (of course) the original but i think my personal favorite is this version. not saying it’s the best but i like it the most. it’s probably just personal bias as mcr is my favorite band and gerard my favorite artist, but his voice just puts something so amazing into this already amazing song
i'm a huge pulp fan and i have to say this is an brilliant cover...can't lie
Not a fan of MCR but this cover is awesome
god i remember watching this video every single day
This song + My Chemical Romance.= Amazing. MCR isn't just Gerard.
Love how each instrumentalist here seem to be really into it really enjoying playing it lol
oh my god,i just listen my fav song cover by my chemical romance
Fucking awesome cover
Wasn't sure about this at the beginning, but it really picks up and I think I like it.
I love pulp to bits and this a really good cover! It beats Keane's version of Disco 2000 out of a %%%%king window and beats it senseless on a pavement!
what an awesome cover
I'm so happy MCR arnt a band anymore. I just wish it happened sooner before they ruined pulp
Brilliant
If William Shatner can do it, anyone can.
Well, what else could I do? Have a rum and coke and leave a RUclips comment.
ME TOO
Gerard sounds so British here. It's actually quite lovely
1st time Ive seen this band and I think its better than the original.!!! And Im pulps biggest fan and 50 years old
+Andy Ayre I like more this version too
I'm two years late, but if you haven't already checked out more songs by this band you totally should. :)
lєmσn pєαr sams but i regret to say that, they gone.
shhhhhhhh
Just wanna say thanks for uploading this, it introduced me to pulp who I've spent my last few weeks obsessing over
my favorite band covering my other favorite band's song thank you gideon nav for this miracle. gootbye.
when this came out I listened to it none stop for like a month... now I'm back lol
Unpopular opinion: I LIKE IT
This is one of the best covers I have ever heard
If you think My Chemical Romance "ruined" this song, go listen to William Shatner's version.
You'll be pretty grateful for Gerard and Jarvis.
"There" *boom* I died
One of my favourite songs performed by one of my favourite bands. Fuck, this is awesome
This should be Like A Version. And also should be on Spotify.
Love this song when I was very young and seeing my idol do a cover just blew my fucking mind
If you guys like this, you should also check out the version that Fidlar did of this song, it's a lot more garage rock/punk-ish, and it's also great.
Life does not have to be either or! Both the cover and the original are wonderful in different ways. Gerard is the Jersey Jarvis.
This video should be in the 'Comedy' catagory. It's fucking hilarious!
wow..great cover!
I agree toxic... It is good that you can tell an artists' version compared to a somebody trying to make it bigger and better ...
A Different Class (the album this is from) was the first album I ever bought. And I have to admit, this cover is alright.
Just perfect in a imperfect Way♡
hahaha another tribute to a british god of music
i was dying but now im dead
Gerard and the rest of the guys are huge Brit pop fans Pulp,Oasis, Blur etc and while I do adore MCR and love this version of the song ofcourse the original is the best....now the best thing to ever happen to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" is MCR covering it 😉💖✌
It's not the worst thing ever but I can't understand people saying it's better than the original. The balance is totally off too
ikr
thelouisfanclub exactly what I think...
No, it's a good cover, but it's not one of those covers that's better than the original.
It's good but not better
thelouisfanclub is not better but is amazing
Gerard paying homage to one of his heroes.
Fuck me, this is how I've always felt listening to this song.
Ugh. Just. My life right now.
My Chem, you're doing it right.
Jesus christ.
There could be something right past the turnpike gates... but you'll just, never know.
i still think abt this
He sounds like a British person! It's so cute! :D
Anybody see the ad... where the old lady crawls out of a grave?? XD then you get an awesome cover by MCR. awesome XD
His voice is so angelic I cant
I can't tell my the genre of britpop died out it's so damn good
Frank is strangely calm here...
I think this cover is as good as the original. Mcr tweaked it a little adding a dash of their style which made it more lively than Pulp's. Other than that, both bands did great.
Love how Rays just casually jumping up and down!
I'm kinda pissed off they didn't show Mikey until the very end...
Gerard's hands ... Is it weird that I find them so impossibly atttractive, he just has the kind of hands you could trust.
The original is much better. No one can sing it better than Jarvis Cocker himself.
