Sloss is said to be haunted by workers killed on the job. Most of the tv Ghost Hunter shows have been there. Luckily they aren't mad, just sad and so they don't hurt the visitors, just make noise and shadows.
Our home base is Alabaster. We were in our camper in Georgia during the storms while our grown children were home, tornado hit a few miles from our home. Glad you guys were ok. We did have a tornado that night come our way in Georgia and we spent an hour in the campground bathhouse. Fortunately for us it went just north of us, unfortunately hit Newnan, Ga. scary stuff.
Awesome seeing you two again on YT! The emergency weather preparedness situation was kinda Deja Vuish (if that’s even a word lol), bec it took us back to that Florida video a few years ago, but this time you guys weren’t in a Baystar! That racing bike museum made for some great viewing...I was drooling seeing that bike you said you once raced with (they’re DEF beautiful machines! Crawfish Boils are one of my favorite culinary delights for sure, so that segment brought back some great foodie memories! This video was a pleasant surprise guys! Always my best to you “three” 🥂
Glad you guys were safe. Nice to see your videos again I've missed them. Safe travels and look forward to more. If you ever get to south carolina area. Maybe I will get to meet you.
Hi! Your Airbnb was in my old apartment complex ❤ Glad you were safe, that tornado was way too close to you. Indy weekend at Barbers is an amazing experience. Hope you come back and experience it.
Glad you were safe & sound during the tornadoes . Kate your hear looks nice . Mine has grown in a lpt since I shaved it off last year during chemo treatments for Hodgkon Lym[jpma . I'm in remission 6 months is my next blood work & scan .
Lots of bad weather there in AL this spring. We have a lake house on Lake Martin, 2 hours south on 280 from Birmingham. Glad you saw some sights there!
One thing when you're in a tornado area. The bathroom may be the safest if you have a cast iron bathtub. But if it's a fiberglass bathtub that is not very safe that fiberglass will cut you to ribbons. And if you have a cast iron bathtub you have to be inside of it for protection. Good luck and I have to say you have the best videos
Good to see some new content. Was missing you guys. If you are still in the area, take a look at going to Foscue Creek COE campground in Demopolis, AL. It is at the confluence of the Tom Bigbee and Black Warrior rivers with a lock that gets LOTS of barge traffic. If you can get a site in 49, 50, 51 or 52, the barges pass literally yards away. Lots of fun. I volunteered and worked the gate for a few months in 2016.
We visited Birmingham a few years ago, attending the (believe it of not) ACHA College Hockey national championship tournament! We toured the Sloss Furnace site, which is much more developed than it was 5-6 years ago. Great historic site! We didn't have time for the Barber museum and track, although it was on my list. Definitely a place I'd return to! Glad your storm encounter turned out well. Those things don't just happen in the south, we've encountered some pretty scary stuff in North Dakota in the summertime!
I haven't been fortunate enough to visit that motorcycle museum but if you're in the Maggie Valley area of North Carolina be sure and check out Wheels thru Time. It's amazing!
Tornado season can be scary, especially in a RV! Both Bill & I grew up in the Midwest and are no strangers to severe weather, but there’s something more worrisome when in the rig. Glad you had a safe place to go & that the storm passed. You definitely got to take in some cool sites there in Birmingham. Thanks for taking us along.
I so enjoyed watching your video tonight as we are planning our travels soon. So much excitement and adventure with museums all in the mix. Good job videotaping everything! And Kate, I think your hair is super cute all grown out. Can't wait to join you on the road! It won't be long now....still narrowing down the rig but we will!
So sorry you had to experience that day of tornadoes. Born and raised here and you never get use to it. Always listen to James Spann ABC3340. Y’all did some of the fun things around here but you only scratched surface. Please come back. Y’all were within 20 minutes of us from every direction. Maybe next time we can serve you up some real southern food. 😊
You said, “Kate and I spent four hours“. What you meant to say is I spent four hours looking and Kate was amazingly patient. 😉. (Please assume standard non-biased caveats). I’m sure she is a fan!
I hope y'all enjoyed your stay in Birmingham. She ain't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but she is home. Alabama has a lot of natural beauty but we definitely get a bad rap sometimes. I'm happy to see people coming through Alabama without prejudice. Very refreshing. I hope y'all get to enjoy south Alabama. Mobile bay and Gulf Shores are beautiful and unique.
WOW and thanks MUCH for great share and video! If I ever go through AL again, Motorcycle museum was incredible! Maybe a handheld FRS radio with weather channels might help, as I got a set of 3 for kids and I to keep in touch when at theme parks etc. Other than that, had a weather radio on kitchen counter when I lived in TX...Take care and all the BEST to both of you! Cheers! :)
Hey Guys, the food at the beginning and the crawfish boil looked awesome! Made me hungry and I just ate dinner! the short track looked like a ton of fun as well as the Sloss furnaces. Birmingham is an great place and the video really looked like you had a great time....despite the occasional tornado warning! ;)
Years ago, we moved from Washington to Nebraska and bought a new Winnebago on the way. Less than 24 hours after we arrived in Nebraska a severe thunderstorm rolled in with 2" - 3" diameter hail. The only damage was the vent in the bathroom was shattered. But many other cars in the parking lot were badly dented and some had their windows broken.
Oak Mountain State park is beautiful, most of my family live in Birmingham. It's a beautiful area. Did you get to see Tennehill State Park? So glad you got to see the Barber Motor museum. My brother is a tour guide there.
I believe that may have been the same tornado system that went into Georgia. It hit where my daughter lives. It was scary. Luckily, my daughter's house only had slight damage, though they were without power for 3 weeks. A tree landed on her car, but her car faired better than we thought. A block away there were empty lots where houses use to be. I thank God that my daughter was fine. I feel for anyone that got hit with that system.
Nice to see where you been glad you're back would appreciate it how much it would cost to go through that museum I went through Alabama 8 years ago didn't really stop anywhere but now I know
RVing or Overlanding in the southeast during the spring comes with diligence in watching the weather morning, noon, and night. Next time in Bama check out the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery Alabama. 👍🏾😁👌🏾🤔✌️🏾😎🙏🏾🤙🏾👋🏾👊🏾😟🙄😔😀
WTR, hello, glad you dodge the bullet, as BAMA has been getting it so far this year, we have been having STRANGE weather, NAT WEATHER forecasted gloom & doom here, but we only got some wind, but NYC really got hammered The streets were covered with HAIL, trees, power , flooding etc, it was 78^F but after storm 28^F here, so heat still on (Steam ). Yesterday wed29 war 92^F here , happy trails 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow, I just discovered your channel! I live in Alabaster currently and that storm was just northeast of us. Glad you fared well. At any rate, happy to see you enjoyed your visit, and Roll Tide!
I can't post a screenshot of the tornado map, but wanted to tell you that the tornado missed you by only 0.83 miles! It headed due east on SR 119, heading *right* for you.....but it zigged just a *smidge* South at the East end of Oak Mountain State Park, missing you guys, but wrecking the development across 119 from you. Seriously, dependong on where you were in Meadowbrook, it was as close as 1/4 mile to you. WELCOME TO ALABAMA! 😆😅🤣😂🤣 Glad to see you guys back on the road! Keep on trucking!
In my hometown and glad you can track by county. Can you tell me the name of the cabbage dish again? Kait, love your hair! My grandfather worked in the iron mills! Thank you for sharing and be safe.
like you guys we have learned that accidents happen my wife took a spill on her e bike in January and recovered in our rig not fun but we got it donesafe travels
Just found your site and RUclips channel, and rolled across this video. As a resident of the neighborhood where you stayed, that was a pretty scary day for us all. Great video, and looking forward to watching more of your videos as we learn about RV experiences! Edited to add: A nice bookmark to have on your phone (I have it as an icon on my home screen) is where-am-i.org/what-county-am-i-in.php#. One touch on it, and it will tell you the county of your current location, along with other information like a map, latitude and longitude, etc.

Welcome to Alabama! Tornadoes 🌪 are as common to us here as the cold is to the north.
So we've learned.

You guys were in my neck of the woods, glad you guys enjoyed BHAM.
We road out that storm. It was quite intense. The advice to know what county you are in is such good advice. Thank you!
Sloss is said to be haunted by workers killed on the job. Most of the tv Ghost Hunter shows have been there. Luckily they aren't mad, just sad and so they don't hurt the visitors, just make noise and shadows.
Be glad y’all weren’t in Alabama on 04/27/2011 when the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa and then Birmingham!
Glad you got to experience some of the highlights of Birmingham, AL! Y’all come back now! 🥰

Wow, what a great trip, great food, museums and crazy weather all in one!!!
I work on US HWY 31. That was a very long day. So glad you guys weren't involved in the damage.

Hanging out in Alabama. Wonder what’s up at STO?!!! Love watching your videos, even some noodle ones! Enjoy both of you!
Barber is one of my favorite places ever. Years ago my ex and I did a haunted night tour of the Sloss furnaces for Halloween. That was a blast too.
Be Safe! Prayers
Thank you!

Nice to see where you been glad you're back would appreciate it how much it would cost to go through that museum I went through Alabama 8 years ago didn't really stop anywhere but now I know
I think it was $16.50 per person
Great video. It would be great to learn more of your motorcycle racing past.
Totally noticed the chewy belt!!!
That was an awesome video. I have a friend who's brother races the Lemon races. Cant wait for the next. 😁
Thanks Guy!
There's literally a place here called tornado alley

That sounds about right. It was almost on top of us
In my hometown and glad you can track by county. Can you tell me the name of the cabbage dish again? Kait, love your hair! My grandfather worked in the iron mills! Thank you for sharing and be safe.
I'd also like to know what was in the fried cabbage meal - looked delicious! And Kait's hairstyle really suits her!
Thanks for sharing.
Did y’all watch Spann
crazy i know where yall are staying and that storm went over my old neighborhood
like you guys we have learned that accidents happen my wife took a spill on her e bike in January and recovered in our rig not fun but we got it donesafe travels
In the early 1970's I hauled a lot of steel product out of Birmingham.
I ordered blueberry waffles there and they put a glob of cold blueberry pie filling on top. No thanks
Good information on knowing your county. I still haven’t tried The Waffle House. You guys are so calm during the tornado warning.
Last year our home and entire neighborhood was demolished by a tornado in Chattanooga. Now we live in Colorado.
We were in our RV at Oak Mountain in Birmingham when it went through the park. That was not a fun experience.
Just found your site and RUclips channel, and rolled across this video. As a resident of the neighborhood where you stayed, that was a pretty scary day for us all. Great video, and looking forward to watching more of your videos as we learn about RV experiences!
