THIS WAS SO REAL OF HER. Because I'm Vietnamese and when I tried to practice speaking by shadowing (repeating what natives said right after they'd said something), I noticed shadowing to the Americans DRAINED me. A lot of mouth movements. Anyways my teachers complimented me on my accent when I went with the British accent, so it's how I talk now, it just doesn't make my mouth muscles tired af like the American accent. The Australian is cool too.

My favorite thing is when people do an American accent they choose Minnesota, California, New York, or Texas. Our country is so big that accents someone from Los Angeles and someone from New York don't sound like they live in the same country sometimes.
Think about it, youve been training the muscles in your mouth to speak your native accent your entire life! It's pretty easy by now. But when you're trying something new, it takes a lot more effort. Like learning a new exercise at the gym even if it doesn't necessarily take a lot of strength!

The reason is that when you're trying to sound like you're from another country you have to put effort into that accent and that process makes your face and mouth work harder to get that accent which isn't natural to you. This is true for other people doing a different accent than their own too.
As an African, American accent is the easiest to comprehend. mostly the ones from the East and West Coast followed by Canadians and lastly British most especially Scottish accent
