A lot of mouth movements. Anyways my teachers complimented me on my accent when I went with the British accent, so it's how I talk now, it just doesn't make my mouth muscles tired af like the American accent. Think about it, youve been training the muscles in your mouth to speak your native accent your entire life! It's pretty easy by now. But when you're trying something new, it takes a lot more effort. Like learning a new exercise at the gym even if it doesn't necessarily take a lot of strength!

I'm Australian and I speak very clearly but omg I used to do medical transcription typing and I could understand the foreign doctors more easily than the Australian ones. Many Australians run their words together and when that's done with medical terminology (ie big words) its a nightmare.

The reason is that when you're trying to sound like you're from another country you have to put effort into that accent and that process makes your face and mouth work harder to get that accent which isn't natural to you. This is true for other people doing a different accent than their own too.
