I also can not get my mind to process this!!!!! Not with all the other details like tables and parts lying on the table like he is busy building!!! With every video I must tell myself remember this is NOT real.
Maybe a fence between your more mainline industrial tracks and your track with broken ties? There is a very sharp transition between the track with plant growth and the ones without. A fence could explain why two have been hit with weed killers and the third has not. I love this series and wish it were a real thing to go see. Keep at it!
hi, that's a good idea, thanks. I actually had to 'tone down' the plant growth from my original version as when the transition was too harsh. I think the fence idea is pretty interesting. thanks again.
Ein sehr imposantes Projekt toll umgesetzt. Viele schöne Details und interessante Bautechniken. Ich bin begeistert. Danke fürs Teilen. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland Frank
I thought those minifigs sitting by the red brick building were kids/teens messing about at first. Didn't realize they were workers until you showed them having lunch!
imagine being this talented. I'm impressed when people just literally build legos and make things that look real. You are making the legos then using them to build the things that look real.
You attention to detail amazes me every time. Not just in the buildings and surroundings, but small piles of bricks lying around in the empty spaces to make this feel even more like it is real. Or using randomly colored bricks for hidden walls, because it is typically cheaper to use those than a particular color. Beyond that I just love the industrial style.
I'm more of a medieval lego fan and that's what I watch/build the most, but this series has me absolutely hooked!!! What an incredible idea to do everything digital, you're clearly an expert at it and it makes everything look 100% better. Can't wait for another episode!
I can't stop thinking that this is an elaborate prank and we find out this guy is a billionaire with an unlimited amount of LEGO and a lot of free time
This amazing build of yours is getting better each episode, also, you will never have to dust it 😁! Looking forward to the next chapter - it would be great to see some of the design/building process. Keep on going mate!!!
Fantastic update. Love that you used multiple color bricks in the temporary wall. Makes it feel like it will be hidden so the color doesn't matter. I am always so fascinated on all the mechanical ductwork and roof equipment as well as all the piping routing. It is so well thought through.
Amazing! I actually thought this was a real Lego city layout but you have created something so awesome in digital designer (thats so clever!). Can't wait for the next video
I saw your first video last week. I liked it so much that I spontaneously started building an industrial building inspired by you. Thanks, keep up the great videos.
As always, a fantastic video!!! I'm always so excited to see what you've done and I usually get so caught up in the video that I forget that it's not real. Please keep up the good work.
Wow, just found this channel after a decade of watching all sorts of LEGO city-building content. Your work is truly incredible and unique -- right up there with BRICKCRAFTS (even though yours is digital). Subscribed!
6:29 these are covered normally enclosed cranes to lift/lower goods between rail level and the higher levels. Quite prevalent in areas which served (or were points for) farm (or similar) produce which would be hoisted to higher levels, partly as a preventative measure against pests like rats or mice.
Super cool like always. I really appreciate your explanations and your intention to details. You have such a great eye in so much creativity it’s really beautiful.
one day you should just drop an episode where everything is replaced with the build but real, but not tell anyone, and see how long it takes for people to realise
Love the TO representation and inspiration. One thing though: I feel that the road between the wooden tracks should be raised as it tends to be in IRL as water would pool into it, and there might? be increased risk of a vehicle getting stuck between the tracks especially at the height it's at (not a civil engineer though, don't quote me on this).
hi, yeah... I didn't notice that, but I think you are right. The area between should be on the same level. Interesting, something to think about... it'll be easier to build too.. thanks!
God I love this style so much, love that you’re taking inspiration from the UK too. Definitely look into old industrial towns and cities in northern England like Manchester, Newcastle, Shildon, etc., you’ll find some good inspiration I’m sure!
Thanks for the tips. I've been looking a Birmingham, it has a really interesting network of canals that run though the very industrial parts of the city.
The UK has a very interesting canal network in general. As it was the first country to industrialise, in many places the need for large scale transportation of goods preceded the widespread adoption of rail - leaving canals as the only viable option. It’s why even today you see such extensive canal networks across the country, even if many fell out of significant commercial use after the proliferation of railways.
Amazing episode again! Those weird wooden extensions might be covered conveyor mechanisms. I read somewhere that Buffalo, New York had a lot of grain storage and distribution.
Technically, would it be possible to make the city explorable with VR/AR? It would obviously require lowering the rendering fidelity to make it run in real time, but I'm imagining how cool it would be to experience this amazing project in AR at a LEGO convention.
Thanks! I think some structures will have a interior, like the pier. I think that'll be pretty cool to build out the inside of that. Good point on the overview, maybe I should do one after the next few buildings..
I don’t think you have to over detail every building. I really like the yellow/beige building and I think the amount of detail in it is perfect: very realistic. The red building you added is cool but if you add more high detailed buildings next to it, it will quickly look too busy and not as realistic.
hi, thanks for the feedback! yeah, it's a interesting balance. I used to model HO scale stuff, so before I would focus on only realism. The challenging thing with this Lego city is that I also want to make sure it stays in line with the "Lego" level of realism and still making it look like it it's still part of the Lego ecosystem
thanks! Maybe at some point I'll upload those files for download. The main problem is that the buildings are actually separate .io files for performance reasons. I'll have to combine them.
Always incredible work and your attention to detail is amazing! When you start a new building, do you sketch out an idea based on inspiration you find? Are you more free form with it, starting the build and adding parts you like from your inspirations?
hi, I'm more free form. I start with the overall shape, then decide on the 'architecture' style. At this point, there's a lot of repetition as windows and other details are just roughed in. Then I go in and start adding the smaller details and that removes most of roughed in placeholders.
hi, I do want to eventually model homes and parks. Specifically, building out cool looking Lego trees. Not just factories. I've been to Algonquin Park many times too.
hi, lol Good catch. I had to remove it. That was before I found out how to fix the issue. But by that time, the scene with the yellow truck removed was already rendered and I didn't want to do it again.
The rendering of this is just insane. I am still not sure if the whole room is fake or if you composited the model into a real Room. But as there is no need for a room like this if you build digitally my final guess would be that the whole room is fake.
so.... curved loading dock when? lol Be fun to have a track just "disappear" inside that area that needs a building still. a narrow passageway of sorts.
a curved loading dock would be cool. oh, but that idea of a curved track disappearing under the raised area sounds really interesting ....hmm something to think about. Thanks!
hi, I build in Bricklink's Studio and import the model into Blender. I then render in Blender. The individual brick pieces are from the LDraw library, which are used by a plugin to create the 3D objects in Blender.
@@CanosieLabsyou need to collaborate with someone to actually build this thing. The investment would be insane, but this needs to eventually be in actual Lego bricks!
Is it possible for you to fill the spaces when you don't have audio with your fan/AC background noise? It's weird to have completely nothing to hear and the transitions between noisy background audio and nothing.
This mindfucks me in the best way. I can't believe this isn't real Lego. Phenomenal work.
I also can not get my mind to process this!!!!! Not with all the other details like tables and parts lying on the table like he is busy building!!! With every video I must tell myself remember this is NOT real.
I watched until 1:20 before I realised this was digital

Wait, what?!
How is this digital
Goes through extra effort to make the "hidden" side of the building look low effort with random brick colors. Love it!
even virtual Lego is expensive xD
I love this series, very inspirational for city designs. I also think it would be nice to get a nice aerial shot of city one day

The angry foreman triplets are a fun part of this series. they really don't like their workers having lunch.
lol boss don't like slackers....
Genuinely one of my favorite series ever! I'm always getting exited when I see that upload notification, don't know how to describe this
Love this. The "office space for rent" sign was a nice touch too!
Could you try to do a small video about how you build up the city in blender and show some behind the stage footage? It would be interesting to see!😀

if you ever win the lottery, you should build it irl
Sadly a lot of the bricks are in retired colors and were never molded in basic bricks.
@@OlleMoquist Since its already 'not lego' (its digital), you can go for other brands as well, maybe even let them custom made.
